Problem FINDING deleted mail

I just upgraded to 10.4.3. In mail, I have deleted some, then wanted to go back and see it again, but when clicking on trash, nothing is there. I've turned down the triangle, and it shows "On My Mac" and my POP account name. On the POP account, there is a triangle next to that but nothing comes down when I click on it. Please let me know how I can view the trash, before I have it empty out, or delete myself. I'd greatly appreciate it. Maybe I have to go into home/library/mail and delete some things there to clean it up a bit, but I've only been with the new system 1 week, and can't imagine it would be that messy. Thanks so much in advance.
Merry Christmas to all, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

Ended up going to another question that had been answered in a very speedy manner and post under that. My question was answered through that post. Thanks anyway.

  • Problem in deleting mail with iOs 7

My deleted mail pops up again after I have tried to delete it. What should I do? I have iOs 7.

    Deleted mailbox is checked.
I don't have the same problem with my PC. The delete function also works well in webmail. The problem might thus not be with the operator. A strange thing is that some emails can be deleted but some not. Can you help?

  • IPhone Spotlight Finds Deleted Mail

I use my iPhone 3GS to retrieve mail from a POP server. After reading mail, I move it to trash and then later delete it. Today I was using Spotlight to search for a contact's name. Spotlight found the contact as well as all mail with that contact even though I had deleted it.
I'd like to be able to permanently delete mail without leaving a copy on my iPhone somewhere. Is this possible?

This depends on what mail service you are using, and whether you are using POP or IMAP. When using IMAP, you can decide where to store the deleted messages - in a trash folder on the iPhone, or in the server. If you choose the server, it depends on your service what options you have to retain trash. If you retain it on the iPhone, it "should" empty the trash when you specify in the advanced options.
I am currently using MobileMe with trash being stored in the server. That is the default setting. It is also set by default to keep them there for 1 month. I will play with the settings (change it to 1 day) and see if that has any effect. I'll report back.

  • Problems with deleting mail in Mail-Yoesmite 10.10.1

Each day, I have a problem where Mail will not delete messages that I have deleted. The messages I want deleted seems to be in the Trash folder and appear to be deleted when I select the delete button. But when I click out to another folder and then come back to the Trash folder, those messages are still there.
T have tried doing this 3-4 times, with the same result.
I have since found that quitting the Mail program resolves this problem and so each day, I have to quit Mail in order to get it to function correctly.
Clearly, there is a problem with this piece of software, a piece of software which is one of the worst things Apple has ever made and which has been driving me nuts for years.

I can't find a way to edit my question so I am adding further info as a reply.
In addition to not deleting emails, Mail also does not always show me the most recent emails.
When I quit the app and re-open it, a bunch of new emails suddenly appear, all with different time stamps.

  • Problem with deleting mail from my AOL account on the Mac Mail Program

It worked perfectly on Tiger. But now that I am using leopard, I get this error message when I try to delete my aol mail on the Mail program.
"The IMAP command “UID COPY” (to Deleted Messages) failed for the mailbox “INBOX” with server error: UID COPY failed Deleted Messages: no such mailbox."
    How do I fix this?!?

  • Deleted mail and how to find it

Hi. I posted under a different topic, "finding deleted mail" but have not had any answers yet. Thought this might score some.
When I delete my mail, it does not go into trash, yet when I go to home/library/mail/trash, they are there. If however I actually drag the mail I wish to delete to the trash, it'll remain there.
I have a Trash folder, under that is On My Mac, then under that with a triangle it says my mail.myserver.net (just a pseudonym). If I turn the triangle down, nothing shows under that.
I just recently upgraded to Tiger, from 10.2.8 (not sure if panther or jaguar). Anytime I deleted mail, it would go to my mail.server.net acct. and I could always view it. With Tiger, I have not been able to unless I go to my home folder.
Please help. It gets quite annoying to trash my mail this way, then when checking back for it, it's not there.

Ended up going to another question that had been answered in a very speedy manner and post under that. My question was answered through that post. Thanks anyway.

  • E71 - fully removing deleted mail

    I actually have two problems:
    1) Deleted mail headers remain in my mailbox, with apparently no way to actually fully remove them from the machine.  If I delete a message, I want it to GO AWAY!  As it is now, it just has a red strike through the envelope icon.
    2)  On the Home screen, the mail displays a number which I can't figure out.  Right now it says Gmail (5).  I have, in fact, zero unread, unsent, drafts, or even undeleted mails in Gmail!  I have nothing!  Before it said 2, now 5... I can't figure it out, and I want it to say 0 considering there aren't any new mails!
    Weird stuff here, people.

I agree that defaut mail is weird or rather illogical. By right when a mail is deleted, it should NOT be displayed in inbox at all.
After some time using the default mail application or "messaging" (since E61i, now E71), I come to understand  that the "messaging" is a mirror of the mail server.  E.g. if the mail server has 10 e-mails, then Nokia's messaging/mail also will have 10 even if you have deleted.
So to permanently removed all e-mails in Nokia's messaging/mail , then you must
    removed or delete all e-mails in your mail server, then;
connect Nokia's messaging/mail with your mail server for updating
And all e-mails are gone in your Nokia's messaging/mail.
To Nokia: please improve! Why not add a "trash" and move all deleted mail from "inbox" to "trash"?

  • I am having problems gettting my mail to work ... Mac telling me that my start up disk id full and to delete some files to free up space ... have done this but when i open mail from the dock it just brings up the colour wheel and nothing happening

I am having problems gettting my mail to work ... Mac telling me that my start up disk id full and to delete some files to free up space ... have done this but when i open mail from the dock it just brings up the colour wheel and nothing happening ... it shows when you right click on the mail icon that " application not responding"

If your hard drive is getting full, you need to free up, at least, 20 GBs of space on your iMac's hard drive.
If your Mac is running a fairly recent version of OS X, here are some general guidelines.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it run the automatic ans S.M,A.R.T. tests,  then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the tabs that have the ability to clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • Weird Problem With Dates in Finder and Mail

I have a MBPr running 10.8.2 which is exhibiting a very strange behaviour related to dates.
Initially, the problem manifested in Mail where the date shown in the message list for each message was exactly the same, regardless of the date sent/received. Oddly, this problem only manifested in the "new" mail view. Switching to "Classic" view in Mail prefs works fine. This seemed odd enough, but only related to mail.
Then, I noticed the exact same date was the Creation, Modification, and Last Opened date for many files (including all of the .emlx files in the Mail folder) as shown in the preview column in the Finder's column view. Oddly, the exact same files show different Creation/Modification/Opened dates when viewed in a Get Info window or when listed in the Terminal with ls -l.
Clearly there is some kind of issue with a cache, or an index of some sort that is accessed by the Finder and/or Mail. I'm attaching a screenshot of the Get Info window and the Finder preview column for a file. Thanks for any info anyone can shed on this.

Embarrassingly, the "More Like This" box to the immediate right of my post shows a discussion titled "Incorrect dates in column view preview" that fixed the problem.
How this affects the "new" view in Mail and not the "Classic" view is beyond me, but I'm also beyond caring at this point.

opps.  Long title there... The past few days my Mail app has started downloading multiple copies of e-mails from all pop servers.  This is only happening on my Macbook not other macs.  Deleting mail from server does not help. I ran ClamXav found 2 viruses deleted those.  Checked for software update and installed suggested downloads.  Problem still contintues.  Any suggestions?

    Folks,
even after having repaired the inbox folder under "properties" a few times, I still had some e-mails where the contents are different from the subject line.
In other words in the inbox there are two e-mails: one with subject line "abc", and another one with subject line "def".
When I display the e-mail with the subject line "abc", the contents are from the e-mail with the subject line "def" in the in-basket.
What else can be done to correct this problem?
    Thanks and best regards.

  • New iPhone search finds deleted e-mails

OS 3 works fine but there's one thing that surprised me. The new search function does its job a little bit too good. You can find e-mails that you deleted weeks ago even if you cleared the recycle bin.

Interested that someone else is having the same issue.
Posted this in another thread. I'll wait to see if someone finds a way to delete them completely
Sounds like there's been an ongoing issue with the delete function in mail that spotlight has shown up, and the fault lies with that rather than 3.0.
+In 3.0 when I do a search included in the search are past emails that were deleted ages ago. Actually there's no emails on the iPhone at all at the moment. The emails date back to mid November last year when Apple replaced the previous iPhone.+
+Some of those found open up fully while others open to a blank window. All have a delete option.+
+No emails are in the trash or any other of the mail folders.+
+These are POP email and none remain on the server. They are on the Mac that the iPhone syncs to however.+
+The question is where are these emails coming from if they've been deleted?+
+Is the same happening to anyone else?+

  • Problems deleting mail from MAC

For the past few weeks (not everyday) I have had trouble deleting mail.
    The message is"
Message could not be moved to mailbox "trash iCloud"
The IMAP command "UID Copy" failed for the mailbox "inbox" with server error:  Mailbox is busy
I have also had trouble just moving mail from the inbox folder to other folders on my Mac.
At first I though it might be a cloud problem, but it has been going on too long!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Deanna

I am suddenly having the same issue in mac mail. Giving me an error message "email name cannot be moved to the mailbox null" "Destination mailbox null does not allow messages to be moved to it" I have no idea what mailbox "null" is. This just started happening a day ago... Any suggestions?

  • I am about to throw my new Mac Book Pro 15inch out the window!! Does anyone else have a problem scrolling e-mails!?? I cannot find the scroll bar that disapears with out continually pulling at the bottom right corner to reveal it and then it disappears!!?

Does any one else have a problem scrolling e-mails ??( I use Yahoo with Firefox) I continually have to tug the corner to reveal scroll bar that dissapears!?
Also using arrows to scroll website doesn't always work either? Is this because I've bought a 15inch instead of my old trusty 20inch which didn't have this problem?

Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., "15-inch mid 2012") and which version of OS X are you running? If Mavericks you can go under System Preferences>General and tick the "Show Scroll Bars: Always."

  • Problem deleting mail on iPad 2

I can't delete mail on the iPad 2; trash won't accept mail I want to delete. 'Anybody got some advice on this?

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
And another option is to try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select the account on the right-hand side of that screen, select Account, then Advanced, Deleted Mailbox, and under On The Server tap the 'Trash' folder so that it gets a tick against it - then come out of that series of popups by tapping on the relevant buttons at the top of them and then see if you can delete emails.
