Problem finding Linksys E1000 router

Hi all.
I just purchased an E1000 router for my brothers computer. He has Comcast as his ISP so i was trying to set up the router and clone his IP address as per other instructions i have read online when dealing with Comcast. However i can not gain access to his router via the 192.168.1.1 address or the CD setup. They both say router not found.
I know the cable is good because i take it directly out of the cable modem and plug it into the "internet" port of the router. I've also tried it in port 1 of the lan side and still can not get acceess. I havent tried the router on another computer yet but since his is the pc i want it to work with, i have to get it to work on that one. I've also tried restarting the pc after the cable was connected.
Any help is appreciated.

Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router.
Connect the modem to the Internet port and computer to Ethernet port 1 on the router. Open the setup page of the router.  Clone the MAC address of the main computer and save the settings. Unplug the power cable to the router and modem. First plug in the power to the modem and wait for 1 minute. Plug in the power cable to the router and wait for 1 minuter. Try to access the Internet through the router.

Please help me I.really wanna.connect my wii to the Internet

Well the situation is not well elaborated. What is the exact ERROR you are getting while trying to connect your Wii? What code are you talking about? It might be asking to put 8 digits pin number which is on the Linksys E1000 itself.

  • Constant Problems With Linksys Wirless Router

Ever since I bought this Linksys Wireless Router it's been the same ordeal. At certain times, depending on what websites I visit, it will knock me right off the internet and I can't get back on unless I restart my computer. It is so aggravating and annoying and takes like 10 minutes to restart each time. I was assured that the Linksys Wireless Router I bought was compatible with Vista. I've had this same problem ever since I bought it. I've talked to tons of technical support staff and none of them know anything. They all give me a different reason. They tell me I need to download new drivers or the latest version or whatever else, but nothing works. The same problem persists. One thing I have learned is that I get knocked off by going on specific websites. So, in order to use the Internet, I must avoid these known websites that cause me to get knocked off the Internet. I can try and reconnect, but it always says that no network connections are available afterwards, and I must restart my whole computer to get back on the Internet. I am perfectly fine going on these known websites on my other computer that has the actual modem/router hook up. Anyone know why this happens and if there's anyway to fix this? If not I am just going buy me a whole new router/modem cause I am tired of this crap. Thanks, Blake

Change the MTU size on the router to 1300 ... Also reset the browser security settings ....
You can also forward ports 25-27 & 443-447 ... to ensure that secure sites should open ....

  • I'm having trouble using a Linksys E1000 Router

I purchased a Mac in November. Love it so far with a few minor exceptions.
I changed routers because I was having speed/connection issues.
Switched from a Netgear to a Cisco Linksys E1000 which I had purchased a couple of years ago for a PC that i replaced with the mac. The software with the Linksys says it cant be used with the version of the new mac Mac OS X 10.7.2.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

I gave up on Linksys some time ago. I had a lot of trouble with their routers, and a very frustrating useless experience trying to get tech support help. I found one a few days ago while doing some spring cleaning and threw it out. Not worth the trouble.
I got a refurbished airport express and it works great.

  • Problem with Linksys WRT54GS router? Please help.

Alright, so I have the WRT54GS, and for the longest time after I bought it, it worked just fine, but I've been experiencing problems lately. We have 2 computers running off the router. One is a wired connection, and mine is wireless, which I'm starting to hate. So whenever I'm playing any kind of game that takes up a lot of bandwidth, such as Call of Duty 4, it's been really laggy, and I get connection interruptions quite often. It disconnects me from all my online programs and, i have to wait about 20 seconds and the connection returns again. It's almost as if the router is just under strain and temporarily gives out? It happens if the other computer is running, or if mine is the only one being used. I really hope this problem is normal and fixable, because I don't have the money for a new router. So I'm wondering, can anyone help me? Please, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Try the steps below to see if it will help.
There are many reasons for a poor wireless connection, and many ways to solve this issue.
    1.      Give your network a unique SSID and do not use Linksys and set your SSID Broadcast to enable.
    2.      You can also try A different channel. There are 11 channels and  1, 6 or 11 is better
    3.      You can try raising your router approximately 4-6 feet above the floor and make sure the antennas are vertical.
    4.      access your wireless software by going to your Profile or preferred networks, if any are named Linksys or ones that you do not know please delete them. Go to the settings or properties and check the information to make sure it is correct.
    5.      See if there are any updated drivers to download.
    6.      Try to use WPA encryption if you can
*** As always upgrade to the latest firmware
    Good Luck,

  • Problems with linksys wireless router please help!

Me and my 2 flat mates share a wireless network, and for some reasons if cannot connect to it. I have vista home premium and a belkin dongle. We used a Linksys router to begin with, not sure which model, but we recently had to buy a new one because that did not belong to us. I can see the network so the dongle picks up the signal but every time I connect and put in the network key I either get Not close enough to the net work point (the router is about 5 meters away) The network key is incorrect (I created the password and it works on the other two people lap tops) The network has timed out. Sometimes I can connect to the network for a moment then it kicks me off. The connection wizard shows the network at full signal. I’m not sure what the problem is, I have done a full restore on my computer and the dongle was installed onto my computer via the disc it came with. I do have another dongle that is a Linksys one; however it does the same thing. Not sure what the problem is here, can anyone help before I have to go out and buy long network cable and have wires all over my flat i have a heap of work that needs doing this week so any ideas would be really helpfull

I would first try and bring your computer (if possible) closer to the connection point. That way it will have full time to connect. Also sometimes some materials in the walls mess with connections due to the type of material.  Sometimes if your IP address is not quite right you will connect but then get booted offline. Sometimes if you don’t broadcast your ssid you cannot connect. (one of my Visa Networks does this ssid broadcast must be on).
Are you using WPA or WEP because Sometimes WEP is not as stable with some wireless modems/ so changing to WPA might solve your problem

  • Cisco Connect can't find my E1000 router

My router is working find but Cisco Connect can't find it. I'm locked out of making changes.

I'm trying to find my username and password via Cisco connect. 192.168.1.1 requires my username and password to continue. I appear to be dead unless I do a H/W router reset and risk shutting down my network...I'm worried it won't come back alive!

  • WPA2 Problems with Linksys WAG120N Router

    Hi,
with this router (wpa2 and b+g+n) the connection lost after minutes and the routers hangs up.
I will test today with b+g.
Does anyone also have problems with this router and the pb?
    I don't want use WPA.
    Regards
    Volker

I had problem with my Router... The playbook would not see the router, or when it would it would disconnect after a few seconds.. I changed one setting and fixed it. All I did was change the wireless channel it was set at 12 - changed it to 2 and it connects every single time now. I didn't change the wireless type or encryption, just the channel and it works 100% now. I did a few tests and it seems to work fine in any channel apart from 12 (maybe RIM didn't think anyone would use that?) If your set to automatic, worth setting it manually just in case. So worth checking.

  • Linksys e1000 router blinking all lights steadily not functioning

Somehow in the process of researcing how to add my new laptop to the router, the  router quit working and is now just  blinking the blue panel lights.
I was attempting to download Cisco Connect to my flash drive and instead it  began to execute and I aborted that in about 10 seconds.
Wondering if just that messed up the original setup which was working fine..
    Thanks,
    jim

Well go ahead and try resetting the router by pressing and holding the reset button in back for 30 seconds.

  • Toshiba Thrive tablet connects to Linksys E1000, but can't browse internet

HELP!  I bought my wife a Toshiba Thrive 16GB tablet for Christmas and have spent 3 hours being bounced back and forth between Toshiba and Cisco support!
I have a wireless network with a Linksys E1000 router.  I'm using WPA2 Personal security, MAC filtering is turned off, and all other settings are basically default.  I have updated it to the latest firmware version (2.1.02).  I have 2 laptops, a wireless access point for my DirecTV DVR and WII (with a switch in-between) and an Apple IPhone 4.  All of these devices have NO problem connecting wirelessly to the router and browsing the Internet.
I set the tablet up, connected to my network (checked the password and security settings 6 times).  The tablet shows that it is connected to my local network.  However, when I try to access the Internet, it hangs.  Fortunately, there is some idiot in the neighborhood who has an unsecured network.  I connected the tablet to that network and VOILA! I was able to browse, download the latest updates for the tablet, etc.
So, I thought, OK, let's disable all security on my router, so I set the wireless security to "disabled".  Saved, and restarted.  The tablet STILL won't browse the internet!
I'm tired of being tossed back and forth with techs who are clueless.  Has anyone had any problem similar to this with an Android-based device?
I would think that if the tablet is accepted with its credentials that it would allow internet access!  One final thing that I tried was turning on MAC filtering and allowing access using the MAC address and that still didn't work.
When I look at the details of the connection on the tablet, it shows a strong signal, the SSID name, and the IP address that it was assigned by DHCP.  I hope that someone can help, otherwise I'll have to go back to Best Buy and exchange it for some other tablet.  I purposely bought this one over the IPad2 because the battery can be swapped out for a freshly charged one and the memory can be upgraded to add up to 128GB with a SD memory card.
Any help is appreciated as I have torn out the few remaining hairs on my head! <LOL>
    MIACLOCKMAN

I'm replying to my own posting as I have solved the problem and wanted to post it in case anyone else has the same problem.  I would venture to say that upcoming updates to the Android system may solve this problem.
For some reason, when the Thrive is set for DHCP ip addressing, it is not going out to the internet.  So, I changed the network profile to manual with a static IP address.  I also input the router address and DNS addresses with the router's IP address.  As soon as I saved the changes it was magic.  The tablet connected and internet speed was lightning fast.
So, anyone having problems, give this a try as you'll not get anywhere with Cisco or Toshiba support.

  • Linksys E1000 suddenly stopped connecting PPPOE

Hey...I have a Linksys E1000 router just upgrade to the latest 2.1.0.2 firmware...I have a PPPoE connection which used to run smoothly on the router..however off late...suddenly the router stopped connecting..it always shows "connecting" in the status tab of the router page...and eventually says failed to obtain IP address...however when I attach the cable directly into my PC it works just fine.
I also had a word with my internet provider...he's kept the MAC open (or something like that)  so he said that isn't the issue and he keeps saying there must be some issue with the router. However, occasionally the router DOES connect for half hour or so and then just refuses to connect again !..
I'm not sure as to what the problem is...I did see a similar post in the forum with the exact same problem but there was no solution given in that post! Also, all three lights on the router are present when I connect the cable to the router!
    Please help!

I believe something is not working well here on the router, I suggest you update the firmware then reset the router (press the reset button) then manually reconfigure it. You may download the firmware from this site, http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/E1000

  • E1000 router

I had a WRT54g router which I set up a point to point wireless connection to a wireless printer. I did not have a
network set up and it worked fine.
With the new E1000, do I have to set up a network for it to work with the wireless printer?
    Thanks in advance.

I think you have to install the Linksys E1000 router on your computer so that you have the network in your home .
If you are using the router only in Local network make sure you have the correct SSID and Password to connect the network on your wireless printer .
Connect the Modem to the Internet port on your Linksys E1000 router .
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your router .
Install the Cisco Connect Software on your computer .
After the successful installation , Go to the Router settings and you will find the Router name (SSID) and password .
Connect your wireless printer to that SSID using the password.
Who is your Internet service provider ?

  • Linksys E1000 cannot ping gateway unless I unplug/replug WAN

I have been using this router for the last six months and never had a single problem. Then yesterday out of nowhere internet stopped working and I was not able ping my ISP gateway (both wired and wireless) [Received: Destination host not reachable on both Windows Vista / 7]. Rebooted the router but still no luck. Unplugged / Replugged the net connection from the WAN port and then finally ping was successful.
Now the weird this is every time I power on the router the Internet does not work and ISP Gateway seems not reachable, but if I unplug/replug the WAN connection the ping reply starts and internet works without any problem.
I have updated the firmware to the latest version (2.1.02 build 5May 6, 2011), disabled SPI  firewall and tried changing the MTU value but still no luck.
Another unusual thing I have noticed is that during the router boot up the WAN port LED blinks a lot faster than usual. After I unplug/replug the wan connection the blinking rate seems to be normal.

My ISP Gateway uses a completely different IP address 172.16.x.x, while my router has the default IP setup 192.168.1.1. The thing is I am able to ping the router IP, but not the ISP Gateway IP unless I unplug/replug WAN.
I googled around quite a bit yesterday and found that others have also had similar problem.

  • Linksys E1000

I am considering buying a Linksys E1000 router to replace my faulty Netgear item. I see that the Linksys unit supports b/g & n wireless speeds.
My current Netgear router also supports the "n" band however if I have it set to the "n" band, it will not let my old pda, which only has a "b" wireless card, connect to connect to it.
Will the Linksys E1000 router allow my faster wireless devices to connect at the "n" band speed whilst still still allowing my older devices to connect at the "b" band speeds simultaneously??

In the Linksys E1000, you have the option to set it to N only, B/G only or mixed. By default, it is on mixed mode meaning, all wireless devices using N, B and G cards will be able to connect.
