[Problem] Firmware update

Hey there!
I'm having a problem with my new nokia n9. I recently bought it from my operator.
I did download firmware update but I think it did not install correctly because in Settings->About it shows previous version PR1.1 (20.2011.40-4.341.01.1_PR_341). I tried to use nokia software updater but it shows I got no new updates available (even thought this program shows I got PR1.1 installed).
How can I fix it? How can I install new upgrade?
Cheers

Nevermind. I found the solution. It is not available in Orange (Poland), yet.

  • Mini DVI to external monitor (VGA) problem/firmware update does nothing

    Hi,
Four months ago I bought a new white 13-inch Macbook (2006 model I believe) along with a handy mini-DVI - VGA adapter. I used a Hanns-G HU196D external monitor which worked fine for a couple of months but then stopped, and had the same problem with a (much cheaper) 'LiteView' monitor. I find it bizarre how they work absolutely fine and then stop, with no damage to the adapter, cable or ports. I've since bought a new adapter and cables + trying out a different monitor and still the same problem...
I've installed a firmware update that describes the exact symptoms, but it's done nothing. Can anyone help me resolve my issue?? It's still under warranty so is it an unusual problem that'll need to be fixed by Apple?
    Thanks

Are you using the mini DVI to DVI followed by a DVI to VGA adapter? That may not work if the mini DVI to DVI adapter does not pass analog video. If that is the case, you need the mini DVI to VGA adapter:

  • X3-02 Convenience, problems & firmware update

I've been using this phone for 5 months
V 05.60 installed and no updates available noted in OvI Nokia Suites
Of course first problem I have and most users encounter is the wireless can be connected but cannot be accessed or used... sad one feature down...
Second, when a msg come, I want to unlock and click the "unlock" on the screen suddenly the screen become blank and the phone like "empty" or “die” and not responsive to anything...
I hv to wait for a few minutes then I can unlock the phone and reply the text.
Third, the music button key is very convenience but when I play video then I need to make a call I have to quit everything (similar when I'm browsing) just to make a single phone call...
The problem is on resuming the video if we use the dedicated music/play button the video will got only sound but no video... (Sad).. If I open again from the gallery, I hv to watch the video all over again from the beginning...
Overall the phone is good and no other problems encountered.
If possible the dedicated key can resume the video with the picture as well, video support navigation as we can navigate to whatever time we want inside the video (watched half way and want to continue another half not all over again) and support a little multi-tasking like no need to quit application just to make a short phone call. Hoping can access and use wireless as it is much faster rather wasting money on slow connection
Hope the new firmware update fixes these problems and gives us more convenience
    Thx in Advance

Connect the phone to PC and open OVI Suite.. Goto Tools-->Software updates..
For the Phone software you may see something like this(if there is no update available..)..  Device Software version v xx.xx installed. If you are having problems with it you can reinstall it .. Clicking on reinstall it will do it..

  • IPod problem - firmware update error. Disk write error.

I need your help! I’me just bought a new iPod 60 GB photo (with color display) but when I connected it for the first time to my PC (with Windows XP Home Edition SP 2) using USB 2.0 I got the message: ”iPod not readable. This iPod needs to be reformatted for use on your PC”. Of course I decided to do that. The system had launched iPod updater. It asked me if I wanted to update or restore iPod’s software however the operation “update” was inactive (grey). So I choosed “restore”. Then a new window appeared: “Firmware update error. Disk write error”. On the iPod’s display a normal menu was replaced by exclamation mark. I tried to reset iPod, updated iTunes and iPod’s updater to the newest version and… nothing. It still doesn’t work. A folder with „!” mark comes up. I try to restore once again and it says: „Firmware update error. Disk write error”.
Please help! What should I do to solve my problem? I want to add that my iPod is properly recognized by the computer system.
Unfortunately, it’s rather impossible to give back my iPod to the store. It was bought in the U.S.A. and I live in Poland.

b “Firmware Update Failure” Possible Solution
    -- Disconnect the iPod
-- Right click on "My Computer"
    -- Select "Manage"
    -- Select "Device Manager"
-- Expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
-- Right click on "Enhanced PCI to USB Host controller"
    -- Click on "Disable"
-- Click "OK" to accept changes
Run the Updater software (Start==>Run==>iPod) and wait till it says to "Plug in an iPod to update it"
Plug in the iPod and wait (for a long while). It takes awhile because you are now running at USB 1.1 speeds. When it finally shows up, do the "update" or "restore", which ever you were trying to do.
You can try to re-enable the "Enhanced PCI TO USB Host controller" after you are done running the Updater software and try to copy your songs and pictures to the iPod. This may or may not work. If not, revert back to USB1.1.

  • Macbook 2008 4,1 serious problems after 10.6.8 and 1.4 firmware update

I'm having a problem with my 2008 2.4Ghz Macbook. After doing a fresh install of 10.6.0 with a Retail DVD, the MB was working perfectly, absolutely no problems at all. I then ran Software Update and installed all the recommended updates to 10.6.8, and I only noticed in passing that there was a Firmware update to do too, as reported by Software Update. I ran that as well and, IIRC, it was applied after fully updating to 10.6.8 and after rebooting twice. The MB rebooted, ran the Firmware update (which seemed to complete fine, as the progress bar completed normally against the grey screen), then rebooted. Again, IIRC, after running the Firmware update, and I'm now at 10.6.8, I started a Repair Permissions and left the MB for a while. It was the next day, maybe 15 hours later, when I went back to the MB and it was in Sleep. I pressed a key to wake it and this is when the weirdness started.
The screen was "fuzzy", sort of out of focus, though I could see the desktop, and what I could see was: the Disk Utility window open on Repair Permissions (which had completed normally) and several Vertical Segmented Bars running across the bottom part of the screen, at about the height where the Firmware Update progress bar was. These bars were filling in from left to right. IIRC, it may have looked a little like when you wake from Deep Sleep (or Hibernate, or whatever it was called). Like when you Wake from Sleep after the battery has run out and then you plug the AC adapter in.
Anyway, before the Vertical Segmented Bars progress was completed, the screen went black. Pressing keys didn't bring the desktop back.
I did a forced shutdown, reset the SMC, then rebooted. No startup chime. The Superdrive, hard drive and fans spun up, but the screen remained black. After a few reboots, I got a desktop back, and tried to reinstall from both an external HD (with Restored disk image) and the Retail Snow Leo DVD. Both times, the MB booted to the startup screen: with the external HD, I held down Option and chose the Snow Leo install; with the DVD, the MB started normally while I held down the C key. The boot started from the HD and the DVD, but after about 60 seconds, with Apple logo and the spinning "cog wheel", the screen went black. And seemed to shut down. With the external FW hard drive, the drive made a loud click, its LED went off, then it came back on after a few seconds, as if it had lost all power to it, then the LED lit up when power returned to it from the shut down MB. Anyway, the installs failed.
I then attached the 2.4 MB to another MB (2.1) in Target Disk Mode and it booted fine into TDM. It showed up on the 2.1's desktop, I ran Check Disk and it checked out okay. I then looked under Startup Disk and the 2.4's disk was listed there, with 10.6.8.
I then booted the 2.1 from the 2.4's disk and it booted fine. I ran check Permissions, and a huge list of permissions to repair came out. At this point, I've left things as they are. The 2.1 is booted from the 2.4, the latter used as external boot HD.
I then replaced hard drive and RAM. Tried to boot from DVD and install, got to Apple logo and spinning cog wheel, but after about 2 minutes the screen went black.
I then connected an external monitor and rebooted from the DVD. The external display received a video signal and I got to the Snow Leopard install screen. All this time the Macbook display has remained BLACK.
I went to Disk Utility and reformatted the new drive, then started the installation, which completed fine. The Macbook runs normally connected to the external display.
    Any thoughts?
Why would the Macbook display work fine at boot (Apple logo, etc.), but then cut out after about 2-3 minutes?
Why would the Macbook screen remain black while I got a video signal on an external monitor?
Does this sound heat-related in some way? I should note that while booting from the DVD and now installing Snow Leopard, the fans are going pretty fast.
I just want to point out that this was an absolutely pristine, impeccable Macbook until these recent problems. It is in fantastic condition, none of the usual chips out of the top case and trackpad area. After the latest fresh install of 10.6.0 it was perfect upon reboot. Fast, perfect Airport and Bluetooth, FW and USB worked perfectly with a FW drive and USB mouse I hooked up. The update to 10.6.8 via Software Update seemed to complete fine.
Then all the problems started AFTER THE FIRMWARE UPDATE.
I don't know how much stock can be put in the firmware update being the cause of the problems, but the sequence here would bear that out. These are also somewhat unusual problems, at least in my experience.
One of the odd things was when I first went to wake the Macbook after the firmware update: the "fuzzy", out-of-focus screen and the segmented progress bars. And it was just before the segmented bars completed progress from left to right that the display cut out and went black. And from that time on, I've had the aforementioned problems.
Any ideas or links to similar problems would be greatly appreciated, e.g. possibly firmware related, or where the Macbook screen works but goes black after a couple minutes. And now that I've been able to connect to an external monitor, it would seem that the video signal is okay too.
    Thanks.

    Just to update.
After leaving the Macbook unplugged and without battery for a few days. I reset the SMC and, with no battery installed, I've just now rebooted and:
    1) the first time, it booted, but no chime, and when the display turned on, once again I got the "out of focus" desktop AND the segmented vertical bars on the desktop (and the bars were filling in from right to left); the display went black after about 10-15 seconds;
    2) I shut down and swapped some different RAM, then reset the SMC again and booted without battery. This time I got the boot chime and the Macbook booted to the Apple logo screen and spinning cogwheel. After about 2 minutes, the cogwheel stopped spinning, as if to boot to the desktop, but then the display went black. The front light started to pulse after about 10 seconds, and the Macbook appeared to be in Sleep.
    3) I woke the Macbook from sleep by hitting a few keys and this time it went to the desktop. This is the first time it's gone to the desktop since the problem started.
I had enough time to see that everything appeared normally on the desktop, such as the time and date, Airport was connected, etc. And then the display went black again, after about 10 seconds.
At this point, I can now always get to the desktop, but the display goes black after about 10 seconds. I have just enough time to press a few keys and the Macbook does respond.
    4) I shut down and reinserted the battery. Here's where new problems show up.
With the battery inserted, and the Macbook in sleep, if I hit a key, the DVD spins up as the Macbook is waking, BUT now the front sleep indicator light FLASHES (blinks) 5 TIMES. No beeps.
The Macbook still gets to the desktop, like before, and the screen goes black after 10 seconds.
I found some info on the Apple site re. 5 flashes (Article 21502):
If you don’t hear beeps, but the sleep indicator light flashes five times when you start it up or wake it from sleep, its battery may need service. Take the battery to an Apple Authorized Service Provider, such as an Apple Retail Store.
For more information, see the Apple Support article below.
You can continue using your computer before you service the battery. Use a different battery, or connect the computer’s power adapter and plug it into a power source.
Note:If you use your computer without a battery or with a faulty battery, you could lose all unsaved changes if it’s unplugged while it’s on.
BUT, the battery is not defective, as it works okay in another Macbook.
I should also point out that the problem with the 5 indicator light flashes or with the battery did not exist before the 10.6.8 and the Firmware 1.4 updates.
    Any ideas?

  • WiFi Problems - TC to MP, since recent firmware update

    Hello,
i found some threads about other people having trouble here, but nothing seemed to fit my situation.
I have 2 Macs - a Mac Pro (Early 2008) and a MacBook (Late 2008). And a Time Capsule, which i purchased sometime between the Macs. Up to now, everything worked perfect, both machines were connected via WiFi to the TC. But since the recent firmware update, the MacBook works fine with the TC, absolutely no problems, but the Mac Pro (a bit longer distance) doesn't work any longer.
This started on Friday (i don't use the MP daily), it was impossible to get a WiFi connection, tried re-entering connection data and so - no success.
On Saturday, i used the cable to check the TC configuration, everything worked fine, and after fiddling around with the setup, i finally got WiFi working again.
Sunday - MP was off all the day.
Today - Just powered it up, no WiFi. When i disable and re-enable AirPort, it gets a connection for a second or 2, but then drops it. If i get a connection, i have a strong signal (all bars black), so signal quality isn't an issue. And before the update, everything worked fine, the only change is the firmware update last week.
The MacBook doesn't have any issues, no matter, where it is located. I'm currently writing this post on it while syncing some home directory stuff with the MP (MB connected via WiFi, MP connected via cable).
So what is this new problem? After damaging USB to complete unusability, Apple now continues with the WLAN features? What comes next? When will all this be fixed?
Meanwhile, i think it was not the best idea to switch to Apple about a year ago. The continous quality drops get painful meanwhile. I wonder when my iPhone gets unusable (which also works fine with the TC, by the way

    Hi again,
okay. It really was the 7.4.1 firmware. This morning, i reverted to 7.3.2, did a full reset, reconfigured everything, and now my network works fine as it did before.
It seems to be important to reconfigure the TC, as just downgrading the firmware didn't really help, while full reconfig with 7.4.1 also doesn't help.
I now turned off the automatic search for new versions on the TC. I will be informed by the AP Express, which has no problems with 7.4.1 yet.
Hope, Apple re-introduces quality control soon and doesn't make the customers be the beta-testers.

  • Anyone NOT having problems with ITunes 8 and latest firmware update???

I have really been put off updating to ITunes 8. The firmware update appears to be doing well. Is there anyone that uses a MacBook like myself who have had absolutely NO problems with new Itunes and firmware update? Answers on the back of a £50 note....

Not having issues now that I have updated all i(hardware) firmware to version 2.1, two phones and an iPod Touch, all work fine (So Far) (knocking on wood). As far as iTunes goes I have mixed feelings. It's a bit faster and more stable, however they removed the "Burn CD" ability from the software. That blows a bit as I would make CD's from some of my play lists to play in the car. Yes I can dock my devices in the car, but as a matter of convenience it's easier to fire up the CD when your in a rush.

  • Latest firmware update and more problems with 30" external displays?

    Hello,
New macbook pro user since a few weeks, so first post here.
I'm aware of various issues with the displayport to dual-dvi adapter, especially with 30" 2560x1600 monitors. All threads I've found on are 1-3 years old though.
I got my 17" macbook pro a few weeks ago and I've had very few problems running my 30" dell 3008wfp as external screen. I had issues at times getting it to work after boot up, with blackout and various errors (problems I've read about in older threads), but once stable it would work without issues for days.
Yesterday the macbook found and installed a new firmware update, and wow, all **** broke lose. The external screen won't run at 2650x1600 for more than a minute before blacking out or suffering major graphical errors. Ironically one of the key points in the firmware update is better support for external monitors...
It will run nice and stable mirrored at 1920x1200, but not at 2650x1600.
Is anyone else in a similar situation after the latest update?

  • Mid 2006 iMac Boot Problem (Since latest firmware update)

I have a Mid 2006 17" iMac. Ever since the latest firmware update in early December, about every other startup I've been having boot problems. After the white screen with the Apple Logo and the spinning wheel it goes to a blue screen like normal, but instead of the 'Loading Mac OS X' white window popping up it stays blue and the spinning loading wheel starts. I've left it loading for quite a while before and nothing changes. I have to do a force shut off by holding the power button. and then I start it up and it will boot normally.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Problems with EFI Firmware Update to 1.5 for mid 2010 Mac Pro, and sleep issues

Hello to the community, I have run into an annoying issue.
I need to update the EFI firmware on my 8 core mid-2010 Mac Pro. I downloaded the EFI update from the apple website from here : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1321
But everytime I download it, as I click to install, it gives me the message:
    Alert
This software is not supported on your system.
But clearly this is the correct EFI for my computer. I tried burning the Firmware restoration onto a CD from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1320
But the computer did not respond the way it said it should (with the 3 flashes/beeps etc.) and have the optical drive open for the CD.
    So I'm completely stuck.
*Also my Mac Pro had issues with sleep, when I put it to sleep, sometimes when I try to bring it back, it restarts itself, and other times, it just turns itself on and the monitor screen remains black, so I have to hit the power button to turn it off then back on again. This only happnens when the computer has been put to sleep for a slightly extended period of time, roughly 20mins +, sometimes longer.  I was trying to solve this problem by first updating the firmware because I think it could be related to that, but I've had this problem with the firmware so I couldn't find out. This is actually the bigger problem for me because it will affect my work. I am currently using an iMac while I fix up this mac pro.
I'm a music composer so I've upgraded many aspects of my system due to work. I have a 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD, 2 seagate 2 TB HDD, and 1 WD 1TB HD (the original one in the mac pro), along with 32 GB of RAM. So my only problems are the firmaware and the weird activity when the computer is put to sleep.
Some help would be greatly appreciated!

    Dear Support Team,
I agreed to the Time Capsule 7.6.4 update today, but as it was completing, I received an error. It said to close the page and try again.
I use my Time Capsule as my Airport wireless router and now can't access the Time Capsule to re-upload the Firmware update.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Is there a way to resolve the problem?
Do I need to hardwire the Time Capsule? Then what?
    Would really appreciate some help!!
    Thanks everyone.

Factory reset the TC and it should come back to life.
    The Factory Reset.
    Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.
As a rule .. wireless is not reliable enough for mission critical work like firmware upgrades.. (Heck I don't think it is reliable enough for backups).
Apple doesn't insist on wired connections.. some other manufacturers do.. and post warnings not to attempt it over wireless. Warnings inevitably read after the failed firmware update btw.. so perhaps Apple have decided to just save themselves the hassle.
I believe it is just good practice to use ethernet for any time that sitting on a branch.. whilst sawing it off (ie failure will kill any future access).. means you always use ethernet for any setting up of a wireless router.. but you see I am old.. with grey/white hair.. and too many dead modems and routers around me.

  • 10.6.8 Macbook Pro firmware update problem

I installed a couple of updates for my MBP 10.6.8.  One was Safari, the other was brand new, released within the last week, I think it was a firmware update, and now the machine will not boot into OSX.  I have a Bootcamp Windows 7 partition that starts fine.  But if I let it boot, or select the Mac partition, it shows the apple logo, then a little progress bar below it that gets to maybe 5-10%, then starts over, then the computer powers down.
I have tried clearing the flash by holding option+command+P+S.  Didnt work.
Is there a way I can boot to a command prompt and clear this update out or something?  Or anyway to fix this myself?  From the Windows partition maybe?

So...fixed my issue and it was not related to the updates, it was just coincidence.
What I finally did was take a video of the startup screen and was able to see that what was happening was fsck was failing, and then the system just halted.  This info presumably makes it to dmesg, but not to system.log (huge oversight IMO).  So its not easily discerned.
Once I figured that out I googled around and this guy's page helped me fix the problem:
    http://blog.jbheren.com/post/2011/02/09/repair-hfs-volume-on-osx
Specifically I had to boot into single user (command+S at the startup sound)
    and issue:
    fsck_hfs -ypr /dev/rdisk0s2
    Then I did
    reboot

  • Problem to pass through firmware update... help needed !

    Hi there !
having trust in Apple has run software update on blind date basis, ie, just pressed the button to update everything what was proposed .
i did not have a look, what was proposed to update, unfortunately ...
apparently, some firmware update have been loaded and started by default...  my lovely mac book pro restarted with grey screen and progress bar
which looks as  usually available only while it's updating firmaware .   It took one try, did not work out, tried once again and then just switched mac down.
i've tried to restart it once again, unfortunately it always the same story, ie two tries and then shot down.
