Problem from ejecting the iPod from iTunes

I don't know why that when I eject the iPod from iTunes, iTunes always show the command text to reject the eject of iPod.
The command show that "The iPod cannot be ejected because it contains file that are in use by another appilcation.", so that I can't eject by this formal way.
Therefore, I post this to find someone help me to solve the problem.
Thank you.....!!!!

Try ejecting it while your antispyware/antivirus software is disabled.

I just purchased a 120gb iPod classic 6th generation from a friend. I have the latest iTunes installed and the software on the iPod is also current. My problem is whenever I'm syncing the iPod and iTunes freezes between the 250- 300th song... I have to manually reset the iPod for the iTunes to run correctly, but then my music isn't added and iTunes tells me I have to restore the iPod... I've done this numerous times only to no avail... Someone please help!!!

  • How to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ??

    Hello,
I use iTunes since some months and have bought several songs at iTunes. Now I also bought an iPod and copied the music from iTunes to my iPod.
Because my harddisk was almost full I deleted most songs in my iTunes directory because I thought it is possible to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ... i.e. I thought that the music on my iPod is like a backup.
But now I it seems impossible to copy music back to my computer. Are all those sond lost ?
Dear experts: Is there any possibility to get my music back to my computer ?
    I hope someone can help.
    Regards
    Michael

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve individual music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

The transfer of purchased content to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7, look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod". A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer

Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.
Thank you for letting me know about my contacts! How do I know if I have the contacts app?
Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

  • HT1351 Whether or not I sync items on iTunes to my ipod, I cannot eject the ipod because a message keeps coming up and saying that my ipod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are being used by another application. How do I fix this?

I just got an ipod classic 7th generation a couple days ago and I'm having a heck of a time with it. My latest problem is that with media on iTunes, I cannot eject the ipod because it says that it cannot be ejected because it contains files that are being used by another application. What application is this, and what do I do about it?

    Hi newipoduser,
    Here are some possible solutions:
Do you use musicmatch jukebox on your computer? If you do, you have to go into task manager on windows and end process mim.exe. It interferes with disconnecting ext devices
    Empty your "trash/recycle bin."
If that doesn't work, try quitting all your programs, especially music-type programs, basically things that look for mp3's etc.
if that doesn't work, "log off" then "log on" and that should refresh/purge your OS system.
Finally, you can restart your computer.
    Hope one of these helps!
    Cheers,

Do a reset of everything on your ipod. Then reconnect it and it should work.

Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Problems Restoring 2nd Gen. iPod w/ iTunes 7

Hello. I recently noticed that my second generation iPod was skipping songs and freezing a lot. I decided to do a complete restore to see if that would fix the problems. I connected the iPod and (using iTunes 7) went to restore the iPod. Once it downloaded the latest version of the iPod software, iTunes said it was restoring the iPod. I figured it would take a while. So after about 40 mintues I figured it had frozen or something so I unplugged it with the intention of restarting the computer and trying it again. However I guess it was still working because now when I try and turn the iPod on all I see is the apple logo. The computer will sometimes recognize it however it states that "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupt. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." When I click restore it tells me there's an error and it cannot finish restoring. So in retrospect it was stupid to unplug it. Is there anything I can do at this point. It isn't under warranty or anything and there would be no point in shipping it off to Apple (for that money I could just get a new one). Any suggestions? Thanks.

    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have been having the EXACT same problem with my 3G, and it started with the iTunes 7, iPod updater 1.2 updates. Be aware that there are MANY others out there on this forum with the problems you are having... too many for me to believe that we all just happened to experience an iPod meltdown in the same way after the same iTunes update.
Anyway -- this morning I did a software update on my iMac, and now when I connected my iPod I did get the computer to recognize it. After reading that many others were having issues with the latest software, I did a restore on my iPod using the iPod updater from June of 2006, not the new one. (Try looking under Applications-Utilities-iPod updater to see if it happens to still be in your computer. If not, you can download it from Apple's site.)
I did successfully do a restore, but now I have connected to iTunes and am trying to reload all my music, and am not able to do so. It's stuck on one song, and I'm afraid to cancel it because this is what started my troubles a week ago.
But at least my computer recognizes that it is an iPod again.
I just wish Apple would post some solutions to this -- rather than letting more people like us download their bad software updates and kill their iPods.

My computer is registering the ipod however itunes is not. Nothing ive tried has made it come up in itunes to let me restore. I've done the basics (i.e multiple computer restarts, switching USB ports, fresh install of itunes. I've checked the forums and everything I've found has involved things that I have been unable to do involving the itunes restore. Please save my ipod from a hammer.

    You can try 2 things:
Restart your iPod by - Holding the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Put your iPod in DFU and restore - Hold the Power and Home until the screen goes black, wait about 2 seconds, release the power button but keep holding the home for 15 seconds, then on iTunes, Restore and Update.

  • It won't eject the Ipod without shutting down the entire laptop....

I have what I guess is the 'classic' 30g iPod it has no problems syncing at all my problem comes in when I try to 'eject' it. I have tried getting itunes to 'eject' and the response comes up:
"The iPod _ cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
This happens if Itunes is the only thing running OR when I shut Itunes down and try to eject it with the icon in the task bar (blonde I don't know what it's called but a screen comes up and you click the 'stop' button and it's supposed to turn lose of things that you connect with the usb cord) and I get the same message "other applications are using the ipod shut down all applications and try again later"
I have tried starting the laptop then itunes and connecting the iPod or running half a dozen different things it makes no difference. The ONLY way I have found so far is to completely shut it down (restarting the comp doesn't give me enough time to get it unplugged before the laptop 'grabs' it again and shows the do not disconnect screen) the ONLY thing I currently have 'syncing' to the ipod is music... no pictures, no calendars, and no contacts.
I have downloaded the newest updates for both the Ipod and Itunes.... any one know why it's doing this and how to make it quit? .... having to shut everything down just to make this 'turn loose' is getting old real quick and I would like to have contacts, calendars, and pictures back.

Fair enough. Another thought along similar lines ... even though you're getting a slightly different set of messages, the sorts of applications discussed in the following document are also worth checking on:
Windows Vista "No Disk" or "Exception Processing Message" alert occurs when ejecting iPod after enabling disk use
... and also the application discussed in the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6828218#6828218
(Thinking about the latter one, because if it's a background process that is checking the iPod, then that might cause grief even though your Task Manager is not showing that any other applications are running.)

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer

You will have to restore the iPOd with the latest iPod updater. http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Restoring will wipe the iPod clean of all songs/playlist ect ect but long as you have them all on your PC in iTUnes, this shouldn't be a issue more on restoring can be found here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
