Problem getting a DDNS Domain name

I can not get the DDNS domain name feature to work. I get a message that says user name already being used. I have tried numerous versions of names and get the same message. I can go to someplace outside my network and connect using the ip address but I would like to set up a DDNS name.

First of all I'm sure this has been asked a lot so apologies if it's a repetitive post I'm just at the hair pulling stage!
Well. I've had no issues joining mobile me (joined a week ago) and publishing my site from iWeb.
But then I wanted to get my own domain name.
(i got it from 123-reg.co.uk just in case that is is anyway significant.)
This is where my question becomes a bit "Balloon" shaped.
When setting my CName on 123-reg I was asked to enter info into two boxes. (That seemed to tally with the help files I have read.)
I entered web.me.com into the first box and my domain name into the second. I'll just call it for now www.mywebsite.co.uk
Then it asked me to enter my website IP which I located by using one of those pages you can type a domain into and it searches...
Sorry if this is dumb but does that sound about right?
Some questions-
-Is it correct to put www.mywebsite.co.uk as well as web.me.com or should it be something else?
-Would there be any mobile-me issues while I'm still on the free trial?
-Are some domain name providers incompatible with mobile-me?
-And if I change the CName with the registrar should I delete and reconfigure myown domain in my mobile me-account?
If anyone could enlighten me they would basically be my new hero!

Oh one more thing..
When asked for the IP of your website does that mean the IP of your own website or the host (being Mobileme of course? i.e. the IP of www.web.me.com/mywebsitetemporaryname or me.com?

Getting list of domain names on NT, and authenticating user

Hello, I want to make an class that will check the user login name and password on a NT domain, the class will show a screen with 2 fields, username and password, and a combobox, with all domain names, on this screen the user will type his username and password and choose a domain to login to, the class will then check if he can login to that domain.
Currently the problem I have is that I couldn�t find a way to get a list of domain names.
And after I get that list, what is the best way to authenticate the user ?

I am also strucked with similar problem.
With this code i am getting the window to enter loginId/password but i am not able to authenticate it.

Problems setting a Yosemite domain name account for Send only

What do I do in Yosemite Mail so that my DOT MAC account is IMAP, but so that I can also send email from a domain account that is a POP account at GoDaddy?
My Dot Mac / iCloud account is my primary Mail account. I also have a domain name account that I use only for sending mail. The domain name account is a POP account, not an IMAP account. The domain server (not an Apple server) forwards the email to my Dot Mac account as it comes in, but I do NOT sync mail or even pick up mail from the domain name server.
With Yosemite, Apple apparently changed the way it deals with that situation. I say "apparently" because I'm having a hard time getting help on this. Before Yosemite, I had the domain account enabled, but while there was a password for sending there was no password for picking up the domain name mail. Every once in the while over the years that setup would get flaky (as Apple made changes on its end?) but usually it worked.
I continued that setup with Yosemite, but a few months ago I started having problems. My mail worked as normally, but during the night or the morning, many messages would arrive as unread duplicates, and many emails I didn't want deleted were permanently deleted. Oddly, in addition, I had an easy time keeping the setup on my MacAir but I had a hard time keeping it on my Mac Mini, even though both have Yosemite.
I took my MacAir to an Apple genius who said the settings had changed in Yosemite. He somehow reset the account for Send Only by clicking a box. Everything worked fine for a week or so,* But then I could no longer send domain name mail, I couldn't find the setting, and I went to another Genius, who didn't know what I was talking about and who couldn't solve the problem.
I need to be able to send my domain name account without making it an IMAP account, but can't figure out how.

* In other words, the Dot Mac IMAP worked correctly, the POP messages forwarded correctly to DOT MAC (without any duplication problems), and I was able to send mail from the domain account.

I've not tested it but if you simply leave the incoming mail server field in the Mail account preferences blank for that account blank but set up the outgoing server and do not check "include when automatically checking new mail" you should be able to send but not receive

Login problem after change in Domain name of portal

I have installed portal 3.0 Beta on windows 2000. installation has gone fine and everything was working. after this i made change in domain name. for this i ran ssodatan.cmd script (source from metalink).
now i am not able to go by
"http://domain_name/pls/portal30/
it gives the error
"The request for content either timed out, or produced an error, after 0 seconds in the browser"
Still i am able to go by "http://domain_name/pls/portal30_sso/" further if i login as any user, then all user are coming with "login server home page" as initial page.
any idea?

my webserver machine name, where the oracle portal is installed is ahiweb(192.168.0.247).
also i have firewall before the web server.
Is these settings are OK for Portal.
I am using apache listener for my developer forms and reports, and they are working fine with these setting on the internet.
can i get white paper for these settings.

How do you get a new domain name?

I know it must be very simple to do but I just can't understand this process.
Do you have to buy a domain name from places like godaddy.com first?
Or can you created it on MobileMe for free?
Does it take 48hours to take effect?

All domain names must be purchased from an domain name provider. GoDaddy.com is just one of many providers.
Once you purchase your name and publish the site you can set up MobileMe to use that domain name in one of two ways:
1 - using the CNAME feature of MobileMe. These documents describes how it is done:

Search this forum for answers and discussions.
Basically, your machine will need a "fully qualified hostname" e.g. myhostname.mydomain.com, only myhostname is not enough.
Also, AS does not allow the IP to change after install e.g. no DHCP (dynamically allocated IP) allowed!

Problems hosting iWeb with domain name.

I have a business web site that I host with iWeb08 using a domain name. I had the domain name working perfectly with iWeb. I would log on to my web site via my domain name and all my content was there as I expected. Whenever I upload a new addition to the web site I always click "view published site" which is taking me to http://web.me.com/username/pages and everything is there as I expected it. Recently, I went to my web site via my domain name and realized that all my recent updates are not being hosted online (with domain name). web.me is fine though. I checked the registration on my domain name and it is active. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Are you using url forwarding? If so, perhaps you changed your mobile me site in a way that requires you to change your forwarding as well.
Could you provide both urls so we can see the differences you are talking about?

Mac Pro boot problem-Get "I have no name!" error message after possible KP

I think I'm having a kernel panic... and trying to keep from doing so myself
3GHz Mac Pro/4GB RAM, 250GB boot drive and three 400GB drives as a RAID for video captures.
I'm still in the process of getting the machine set up with software.
Demo machine from an Apple Authorized VAR that has been running in his office for several weeks. Had installed Final Cut Studio Monday, allowed Software Update to update the Apple software, including the OS.
Edited quite happily with FCP on a multiclip project... and did other things over the last several days.
Had no problems until a couple of hours ago after adding a number of fonts... which may turn out to be part of the problem... or not.
Rebooted the machine, and after what seemed like a VERRRRRRY long time of gray screen with spinning gear icon, the screen goes black with a cursor in the upper left corner.
About :30 later, text appears: "3Ghz-MacPro:/ I have no name!#" followed maybe ten seconds later by "SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en0 error17" and "SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en1 error17"
Screen clears back to cursor... then "3Ghz-MacPro:/ I have no name!#" reappears... and eventually the cycle starts again.
I would infer that en0 and en1 are the two ethernet ports.
I've popped the install disc in, booted to it (which took a while to do) and used Disk Utility to verify the disk. No problems found. Repaired it anyway.
Verified permissions, which found a couple of issues in the library with some files not essential to booting. Repaired those. Rebooted.
Same cycle as above with "no name."
Ran Apple Hardware test (the quick one) and it found no hardware problems.
Am waiting to see whether the AppleCare TechTool Deluxe will boot. Spinning gear continues as I write this (7-8 minutes??)... now wondering whether it's 10.4.x for Intel Macs as it spins.
After waiting a while... decided to go back to the install disk and see whether I can install 10.4.7 to a handy FireWire drive and boot from that...
then remove (or turn off with FontBook) all the fonts I just installed and see whether it'll boot from the internal.
More later. Am watching e-mail on another machine so feel free to offer suggestions.

3GHz Mac Pro-1GHz eMac-G3 400MHz Lombard Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I installed 10.4.7 onto the RAID so I could see whether it would boot OK, and to swap font folders out so that only the OS installed ones (from the RAID install) were present on the boot's original install.
Booted from the RAID just fine... and was able to do the font folder swap in the main font and user font folders.
Trying to then boot from the boot disk didn't make a difference. Same kernel panic with the text as described before.
Did an "archive and install" onto the boot disk and it came up fine on the fresh OS.
Updated QT and then the OS to 10.4.8 using Software Update (which I understand from the Apple info site is the "delta" version. Combo is also available, and it updates any 10.4.x version to 10.4.8)
Moved over some items in various library folders from the previous system to make the ProApps happy (only Motion's not working) and will get a project out the door today.
Will ultimately wipe the drive and go from scratch on the OS and Apps again.
Looking forward to half a day of intimacy with my Mac Pro and software disks this weekend.

Firefox only shows the IDN name if the TLD is white-listed.<br />
The .net domain isn't in that list and thus shows as puny code.

Problems getting just the file name using an upload component

Hi everyone, I'm using an upload component on my page and I need to get just the name of the image/file in order to store it in a database, I used the code of the tutorial and It works fine on mozilla but the problem comes when I use Internet Explorer because I get the whole path of the image/file and not just the name of it. I believe the browser is the cause of the problem, I already checked the http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/fileupload/, but I don't understand how to use anything, and not even the code of the tutorial works eventhough it is specified in comments:

File.separatorChar is the system-dependent default hame-separator charac tor. This field is initialized to contain the first character of the system property file.separator. On UNIX systems, the value of this field is '/'; on Microsoft Windows systems it is '\\'.

Can you print out File.separatorChar and see if it is '\\' (I think the first \ is an escape char, that is \\ (escape-escape) is the equivalent of \ (backslash)) or '\'?
When you run it on another machine, how are you deploying it on the other machine? Is it deployed to Solaris and running on Windows?
Have you tested to see if it works on a Windows machine using Mozilla?

Problem when using own domain name

I recently updated my site and gave it a fresher look. I have my own damian name and use iweb and mobileme to host it. the site works fine but the one problem i have is that no matter what page I view of my site it always says my web address in the address bar. For example my site is thecarpetfitter.co.uk. It this site I have 7 pages plus some pages of photos. Now when i'm viewing my about me page the address bar still only says the main site address not thecarpetfitter.co.uk/about me. It does this for all my pages. It's a problem because nobody can bookmark an the actual page they want only the first pages that loads up (welcome page). How can I change this?

Having problems attaching a purchased domain name to my muse project

It was previously used by another student from last year's class who also also used Muse but i cannot overwrite his version as it says the domain is in use. Do I need to amend the nameserver to something more unique than the name server that is mentioned in the tutorials i.e. NS1.WORLDSECURESYSTEMS.COM. domain purchased from goDaddy.
