Problem getting (ALT key) to work in Flash

Hi All,
I hope there is somebody who can help me with the following issue:
I can not get ALT key to work in Flash, if I want to use it in combination with other keys nor I can use it alone.
For example, I have created an application which requires the usage of (ALT+F) in order to access certain thing, This does not seem to fire the key event.
however if i use the same thing with (CTRL+F) or (SHIFT+F), it works fine.
It is only ALT which causes the key event not to fire.
Is there a bug in Flash for using ALT key? Can anyone help me please?

I am have a real problem getting my vi to work as required.
I would like the my vi (EXAMPLE.vi in the vi library attached) to run continuously. It should update the graphs on the front pannel and also save data to file when requested using the save data to file button. (I have written a sub vi. to deal with this data handling and file saving which run in two while loops with the vi as can be seen on inspection of the block diagram)
Now, what I would like is for the updating to pause whenever I change any of the settings on the front panel (which are controls in the first half of the sequence of the vi) so the hardware is reset. As it is at the moment I have to stop the vi to change the front panel settings and then restart it in order for the first part of the sequence to run and re-set the values on the hardware.
I guess I need to use some kind of event driven programming an event stucture or something like that. This is quite advanced and I don't know how to implement it.
Can anybody offer any Ideas.

Problem with ALT key in X apps through ssh

I am using gnome-shell with no problems so far. I use a couple of programs in remote machines made with QT, like kwrite for example.
I connect to the remote machine using:
ssh -Y user@remotehost
In the ssh console everything works just fine, but when I start any remote QT application, I see that there's something wrong with the keyboard. The right ALT key doesn't seem to work.
I use Spanish from Spain in my computer and in the remote machines and I use the right ALT to access characteres like #, {}, []. €....
When I try to write € for example (the euro symbol is in the "e" key), I get an "e", not the euro, as if right alt does not work at all. The same happens with the others as far as I tried.
I also get a bunch of errors or warnings in the console when I open, for example kwrite, but I don' t think they have anything to do with the problem I'm trying to fix here. Just in case, this is what I get when I start kwrite en the remote machine:

I use konsole locally, so I installed it along with its dependencies of kdebase, but didn't change anything.
By the way, remote QT apps look awful, the buttons are like... VGA, and the fonts look sawed and sharp. (Locally, I have the Ubuntu's patched fonts and they look really good)
I don't know how to begin a diagnose of the problem, any help would be apreciated.

Right arrow & ALT key not working right after clean install of XP Pro

My 3000 N100 stopped booting so I had to reinstall. Had a full license for XP Pro that I wasn't using yet, so decided to do a clean install.
Am still working on getting various things working (e.g., audio), but at the moment the biggest irritations are the following:
1) My right arrow is disabled completely.
2) The ALT+TAB combo doesn't work properly. When I do it in Firefox, for example, it does some sort of scrolling down-screen.
Anyway, to isolate the problem, I tried plugging in a USB keyboard. With that keyboard, everything appeared to work fine.
Now, before you tell me that it's just something under the keyboard (which was replaced shortly before the crash, so I doubt that's the problem) keep in mind that the ALT+TAB *does* do something (and not the simply TAB alone), which leads me to suspect the problem lies in how the ALT key and the right arrow key are mapped.
Any ideas?
Could this be related to a driver that I still need to install? (My device mgr still has a bunch of things with question marks.)

No drivers for the b320 yet. Windows set it up with something that kind of functions.
It did come with Windows 8 installed. It also came with CD containing Win8 Driver Pack v1.0. I installed all of the drivers from this CD.
Where would I find this list of compatibility problems that you refer to?

Need to get wireless remote to work with Flash Presentation... HELP!!!

I know almost nothing about Flash or Powerpoint. I was given a Flash presentation I need that I'd like to show at meetings using my new wireless remote, but I can't get it to move forward & backward between slides (works fine using arrow keys on the laptop keyboard - Windows XP Pro). The remote works fine with Powerpoint presentations, so I know the remote is ok. Is there some setting/command I need to allow my Flash presentation to work with my remote, or do I need a special remote? I already talked to the remote tech support (Keyspan/TrippLite) and they were totally unfamiliar wirh Flash and simply said that their unit works with Powerpoint as advertised, which was true, but they couldn't help me with Flash presentations. Can anyone out there help me?? Thanks very much!

Ok, I'm officially retarded. I followed the link you gave me, which led to another link about fullscreening (a .zip file) which I decompressed and ran then escaped out of it. I then looked at the gobbledygook programming language code and I found where it said "trapallkeys" but still haven't the slightest idea how to get my remote to work. Is there some utility file which I can run which already has this "trapallkeys" function compiled into a nice simple executable that I can run prior to or in conjunction with my Flash presentation which will let my wireless remote controller flip through my slides? I'm sorry, but please don't expect me to understand what...

Problem with alt key in Photoshop CC2014

I'm running Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 Release under Win 7 on a dual monitor system 12 G ram, i7 processor, and a Radeon HD 6700 Graphics card. Everything was working fine until a few days ago. The first problem I noticed was in using ALT-left click to reduce zoom. CTRL-left click zoomed up OK but ALT-left click acted almost like I was pressing the F key to change the view. There are work-arounds for zooming so I continued working. Then I found I could not add a black mask to a layer by pressing ALT while clicking the add layer mask button on the layer panel. I also found that ALT didn't work right in ACR. For example in ACR holding down the ALT key changes the Cancel button to Reset, but clicking on Reset doesn't in fact reset any of the sliders.
I've closed and reopened Photoshop which helped for a short while but the problem came back. I opened Photoshop with the SHIFT-CTRL-ALT keys held down and accepted the resulting dialog box offer to delete preferences, which helped but again the problem returned. I've deleted and redownloaded Photoshop two or three times to no avail, and the last time I also checked that alt key combinations in both Bridge and Lightroom work OK at the same time they are not working in Photoshop. I haven't seen the Alt key misbehave in any application but Photoshop.
I would any suggestions any of you might have about what is wrong.

Just to clarify, are you referring to Alt Space bar left click and drag for zoom? If yes, then that needs 'Use GPU' enabled in Preferences > Performance. So can you check that? It actually works with either Ctrl or Alt together with the space bar. Left mouse click and drag left and right to zoom in and out.
If GPU is checked, can you try some different settings?

Problem with ALT key display

Hello,
I am having an aesthetic problem with my q10 that i just got today. I was entering some contacts into my phone when I realized that the ALT key is activated whenever I add phone numbers. When I first got the phone the ALT key did not light up whenever I put contact numbers on my phone. I restarted, and set the phone to the factory settings but this will still not disapear.
I am wondering if there is a way if I could the ALT key to not be showing while I put in contact numbers. It does not effect my phone, its just annoying to see something that didn't used to be there.

Lasso tool problem, using alt key, no click within 5sec causes loss of active window focus

I have been using Photoshop since ver. 4 and have never seen this happen. The only difference is now I'm on Windows 7 64bit. Did not have this problem with XP. Current version CS3 Extended.
Problem: While using Lasso tool with the alt key if I do not make a mouse click in 5 seconds Photoshop's active window loses focus for a split second and then the first point of my selection and the last point will connect. Thus, wasting my time and my attempt at a selection.
I have task bar buttons to "Never combine". I see for that split second what appears to be another program button opening but it is so fast that I cannot see if there is a name on the task bar button. The current Photoshop button moves to the right and back too fast. This all happens very quickly as the window loses focus.
I first thought it was some another program but after many searches found nothing I can identify as the cause.
Right before posting this I had a thought and did a test that concluded in the 5 sec rule. For over a minute I held down the alt key and made a mouse click within the 5 second window of time and there was no loss of window focus. While still holding down the alt key in this same test but not making a mouse click within 5 seconds the window lost focus and the tool stopped with my selection.
I have a wireless Logitech M305 mouse that this morning updated the driver to its current version 5.20.51, Control Center version: 6.20.50.
I have not tested a wired mouse, yet.
Any help would be appreciated. Anyone else seen this? Windows 7 64 bit the culprit?????

UPDATE
After I removed Photoshop from Norton 360's Administrative Settings_Silent Mode Settings_User-Specified Programs, I did not have the problem with the lasso tool that I first had with loss of window focus. I then put Photoshop back in the 360's settings and the lasso tool still worked, BUT...............
After a couple of days of not using Photoshop and turning computer on and off in that time, I tried Photoshop again and the same problem, it came back. Loss of focus after 5 seconds of not clicking mouse. So, once again I open Norton and took Photoshop out of the User-Specified Programs and the problem went away, no loss of focus.
So, I will see if after a couple of days of turning on and off the computer and NOT putting Photoshop in the Norton's User-Specified Programs setting if the problem stays fixed.
I don't have to have Photoshop in the Norton's setting I just thought that it would be a good idea so Norton didn't try to do any background processes or whatever while I was working in Photoshop or I was rendering a filter or something.
Another thought I also have the Full Screen Detection setting ON. I do use Photoshop in Full Screen mode so maybe when having both the Full Screen mode and User-Specified Programs setting selected it makes something go wacky.
Hope this helps anyone having the same problem I "did". Will post back after a few days to let you know if focus problem is gone.
If it does relieve the problem then I will leave Photoshop off the list in Norton. No sense in trying to fix something that really doesn't matter, really.
UPDATE 2
January 8, 2011, I tried the lasso tool again and it still appears to be working. I did my standard test of holding the alt key and clicking to make selections then not click for 5 seconds or more and I did not lose window focus. I do not know why the Norton 360 setting triggers the loss of focus but since I turned that setting off I'm not having any problem.
Will update again if something changes.
Anyone else out there with the same problem that was solved using this method?

Left alt key not working all the time

the left alt key seems to be intermittent on versions of windows vista and above using a MS wireless keyboard
I don't know about you but the left alt key is very important in my workflow and it works intermittently
It seems to be something with the driver and the person at MS on the phone said it was a driver issue and he had no idea who to send it to.
Removing the "NEW" mouse and keyboard drivers seemed to have worked but not really
Only solution so far is not to buy MS hardware

times) and still the same problem. I load up a flash game, then can
only use the mouse to play. Arrow keys just dont respond when used.

I had the same problem and was looking around on the net for
help. I found a post that said to try using the numbered keypad
instead, as in 8 is up, 2 is down, 4 is left and 6 is right. It
worked for me so hopefully this will help you as well. :)

Setting up email server address- can't get the / key to work!

I have a Blackberry 8900 Curve that I have been given today as a work phone.
I have followed the instructions to set up my work email on there. When promted to enter the work email server address, I can't seem to use the slash / symbol which is above the G key on the keyboard. I have Used the Alt key then pressed G, but all I get is a G!
I have looked under the symbols menu and that has not worked. Also, I have noticed that it will only let me input certain symbols at this point, so perhaps this has been locked somehow?
If it helps, at the top right of the screen is a small box containing '123' when I enter the section to enter the address. Perhaps I have some kind of lock on? But this goes away when i go to other fields in the setup wizard.
Hope this makes sense! Any help would be fab, as this is a phone used by an old colleague and I do not have the manual!! The IT support team are being as helpful as ever................!

Ctrl/Alt Keys not Working in Parallels

Hi,
I'm running Illustrator CS6 using Parallels Desktop 8 and Windows 7. It appears that the ctrl/alt keys do not work. Has anyone found a solution? I've tried resetting my preferences and restarting my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciaed.

Although this is an old thread, I also seem to be having the same sort of issues with Illustrator CS2 in Snow Leopard running under Parallels Desktop 9.
Re. the proposed solution, there does not seem to be a 'Virtual Machine -> Configure -> Options -> Advanced -> Optimize modifier keys for games' option in Desktop 9 - or I've not found it.
I will pursue this in the Parallels forums, but if anyone here has found a solution, I'd be interested to hear it.

Cannot get 'c' key to work on startup

Having trouble with getting the 'c' key to work on startup - computer just starts up as normal instead. Why??
I have an iMac 7,1 with Intel Core2 Duo 2GHz, bought about 2008 and all very standard running Mac OSX 10.5.8. Am intending to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
I did just delete my Previous Systems Folder to free up 89GB of space. Could this be why the 'c' key no longer works? Or is it a different key on my mac to go to enable booting from DVD on startup?

Two suggestions:
Download and install the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo update and try again.
Reset NVRAM and try again.
Please confirm your Snow Leopard installation disk you are using looks like this:
It must be white as shown in the picture, and not have "OEM" or "Upgrade" printed on it.
By any chance, do you have another Mac that can be used to connect to the iMac you want to upgrade? Upgrading to Snow Leopard without a working optical drive is going to be a challenge.
Let me know if you achieve any progress with the above.

Problem getting PS "template" to work properly after slicing

Hi guys,
Just a heads up first, this is going to be a little long for two reasons: 1) I have a bad habit of being verbose 2) I'm going to explain exactly what my problem is and what steps I took to get there so everyone knows exactly what has been done so far.
So, I decided to give my hand a try at designing a full page template purely in Photoshop (CS4 for PS and Dreamweaver). It worked out great, looks awesome... but I didn't know what to do next. I'm currently enrolled for Web Design & Interactive Media in college, but alas I just started 5.5 weeks ago. However, I do have a photoshop learning center and posted my problem to my professors. After some long discussion of my professor telling me to slice it and just save to web & devices, and me finally being able to get it click that doing this makes a bunch of tables out of the images, I had my first full graphic web template. Problem #1: I have not worked with tables since Dreamweaver was Macromedia Dreamweaver 8... eons ago it seems. So, after finally getting everything into an HTML document, where I felt more at home, I started to play around with the tables, trying to remember anything at all about them. My professor helpfully suggested nesting the tables... it was greek to me. However, we live in the internet age, so I googled it up.
Now I have my images all in wonderfully organized tables, except for five of the images. This is the jpeg of the template. So, I was loving the template, and that is the photoshop .jpg I saved to show my girlfriend what it would end up looking like. After realizing that I had NO idea how to get the text over those specific area's while the "content boxes" were still in tables, I decided to throw in my puny skill in CSS. I made new slices, and sliced up the upper two sections for the content-title1 & content-title2 and then made 2 more new slices for content-left and content-right, then a fifth slice for the bottom of the rounded boxes content-footer. Now, I have used others' templates in the past such as this site but he was using familiar territory for me.. <div> tags. Ok, so anyway I have 4 new tables to throw in... one each for the content headers "News" and the "Welcome to Illuminati" parts, and then two other boxes for the actual content of each section. After trying to figure out how to nest tables, I gave it a shot and while in design mode, it actually works... except the navbar is slid out far to the right. And when I uploaded the site, not only is the navbar way out in deep right field, but my content-right table slid under content-left. You can see the end result here.
What I need help on:
If any kind soul could please take a look at my code and tell me exactly where I'm fubarring things up, I would greatly appreciate it!
If said kind soul could show me how to fix said problems, I would appreciate it even more!!
Lastly, on that Livengood Investments website, if you notice the bottom section where the "article of the week" and thumblist is, with that guys' template, as I add content to those sections, it grows down so that you never have gaps or spaces etc. That is why I cut the middle content boxes into two, so that I could add content without worry of having the gaps etc. I did notice though, that if one side is longer in text than the other (on my secondlife.lift4ullc.com/test2.html site) then the other side has a gap. I'm going to assume this is because with the Livengood-Investments site, that middle section is actually 1 background? I could do the same with the boxes on my site, make them 1 section instead of two, if only I knew how to have two separate tables over their individual box... thanks!
Every guide or tutorial or video I have found on the net about nesting tables gives you a simple 2 column 5 row walk-through. Very nice, and handy in some cases I'm sure, but I can't see how that helps me at this particular moment. =( Thank you in advance everyone, for your patience while I rambled, and your help in this matter.

With the www.livengood-investments site, what I did was google up "free web templates" and found that layout (different background, and some customization to it to make it fit the company etc) but it was almost purely CSS done. I would say I've been working with CSS in some form or fashion for roughly 2 years, but only within the last 1-2 months have I really sat down to try to learn CSS. Table layouts (for me) are a thing of the past, when everyone and your uncle had a geocities or some other website. Thank you for letting me know this is possible to do without all of the tables... that is a huge relief and load off of my shoulders. http://secondlife.lift4ullc.com was my "first run" test at the website you've seen, and I've already gone in detail over that code to see why I have the gaps in my logo/header/navbar area, because for some reason I changed the size of those div's that were larger than the images But, I tried out that CSS site before I learned about slicing in PS, so that is why the color scheme is so different. I left it as it is because I would rather have my nifty content boxes ;-) Ok, so I have the starter, and I'll step back and just save the images and not the images + html. From there I'll start designing the site with CSS and div tags instead of the dreaded tables. Like I said though, PM coming. @Boss Yes, I just started college, but I'm 28 now and have been meddling in some form or fashion in web sites for nearly 15 years. I just decided in the past month or so to actually turn it from a "hobby" to something more serious with the hopes of actually making a career out of it. I agree with you that CSS design is better than tables. I hate tables, haven't used tables in many years, and CSS is just so much easier to tweak and read the code than a page full of table coding (as I've learned these last few days). I know I'll be learning some coding in my later courses (today was the end of my first term freshman year) such as PHP, JavaScript, and I *think* some C+/++. CSS, I'm not really sure on. I have no doubt though that I'll be able to bug my professors that teach the courses for CSS... they should be up to date with standards and coding. This professor is actually a Photoshop specialist, and while I'm sure he knows some HTML and CSS, probably not as much as a coder or web developer (as opposed to him being a graphics designer). Thank you very much for the tutorial link, I really do appreciate it. I love tutorials, but sometimes the search for a good tutorial can be almost as fustrating as trying to figure these stupid tables out LOL. However, as I mentioned above, now that I know I can, I am switching over to CSS with yours and SnakeEyez's suggestions. Thank you Boss!
