Problem getting good levels

Hi folks
Im trying to record vocals on garageband 4.1.2. using Duet as an interface (Duet 1 not 2) and I have rented a universal audio preamp 6176 and a SM7 mic. My problem is that I cannot get the vocals loud enough without distorting. I have tried every possible setting and combination on the preamp, so Im thinking my problem is with the interface and garageband - that I am missing some important softward that can manage levels more finely. Currently all I get is the very basic apogee control panel that simply lets you select which connector Im using. I did a bit of research and learned that there is something called Maestro or a more complex apogee control panel but I cant find these anywhere in my system and I have no clue if this will help.
I would love some advice. I have been trying for two weeks and am ready to return my rental with nothing to show.

-the knob on the apogee simply moves the recording level bar in garageband. It works but does nothing independent of that
-i have downloaded the latest duet software three times now. The description always says that it includes Maestro, however I cannot detect or find any evidence of Maestro anywhere - I try searching for it and its nowhere to be found. It is not the default control panel and it is no where in GB or on my computer. I have no idea whether or not this will help my situation
-I can record directly into the laptop mic. It sounds like ***** but it works
-there is no problem with the input channel thats all very straight-forward. I cannot find anything additional to the basic recording level in garageband (which is redundant to the apogee know) that can help to boost overallvolume without distortion. I play around with different levels and options on the preamp but totally have to lowball its capacity because it distorts. So I have to bring all the levels down in order to record non distorted but then end up with a vocal track that is not audible over the rest of the band. Ive tried this over and over again.
-I have tried going straight into the duet and have the same problem but with even slightly less volume.
-I am completely lost, but my guess is that I am missing some critical software or aspect of apogee in order to better manage recording levels

Thanks for the quick reply. The use of a heat gun to loosen the adhesive complicates matters, but your point about the 4G's unsoldered jack brings it back into the realm of a possible self-fix. I've read the notes by other users--some were successful with pipe cleaners or pressurized spray cans or both. I'll try that first before going for disassembly.
The first repair place that comes up when I Google "iPod repair" prominently features headphone jacks for the iPod Touch, suggesting it's a pretty popular item. Maybe the placement of the port, or even its angle, is a receptacle asking for trouble. If I get it to work again, I'm going to look for a leather, or folio, type of covering that doesn't leave that hole exposed.

SharePoint Designer workflow gives Claims Authentication error for some users. Problem getting output claims identity. The specified user or domain group was not found.

We have a SharePoint Enterprise 2013 system at RTM level. We've installed Workflow Manager 1.0 by following the steps at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj658588.aspx. For the final step of Validating the Installation we created a simple list-level workflow and verified that the workflow
is invoked successfully. This is working successfully, but only for a single user. If other users in the same site collection try to invoke the workflow on this same list we get the ULS Log Error:

All accounts that are attempting to use the Test Workflow (both working and non-working user accounts) are valid AD accounts and are included in the User Profile Sync that runs nightly. All have Contribute or Design permission level (and for testing,
Full Control).
What could cause the Claims Authentication to fail when certain users attempt to launch the workflow?

Hi Aries,
I am facing issue with work flow where Workflow goes to Suspend mode.
I am facing an issue with SP2013 Custom Workflow developed using Visual Studio 2012.
Objective of the Custom workflow: User fills the form and submit, list get updated and workflow will initiate and go for the process.
Issue: After the deployment of WF, for first time when user is filling the form and submit, list is getting updated. But the Workflow Goes to "Suspend" mode. (
This Custom Workflow has a configuration file where we are providing other details including ID of Impersonator (farm is running under Claim Based Authentication).
Work flow works fine once when the Impersonator initiate the workflow (Fill the form and submit for approval) and everything works fine after that.
Following steps are already performed
1.Make sure User profile synchronization is started.
2.Make sure the user is not the SharePoint system user.
3.Make sure the user by whom you are logged is available in User Profile list.
4.Step full synchronization of User Profile Application.
From the ULS logs it seems the user's security token from the STS service and User profile service is not being issued.
Appreciate any thoughts or solution.

What's a good level to record voiceover?

Hi,
I'm completely new to audio production, and need to record a voiceover. I've got my mic hooked up, and am getting a level of some sort. What I'm wondering is, what's a good level? I mean, I understand that the closer to 0 dB I can get, the better the quality of the sound. But, in practical terms, as one's voice fluctuates, what "general" level should I shoot for? How much level is too little?
It seems that subtle movements of my head in relation to the microphone, or a little extra "energy", and I get clipped. Can anyone offer any suggestions/advice?

Hi Vixter101,
To add a limiter to the selected track click on the 'i' button on bottom right of GB.
The Info Pane opens. Here you can add/Edit the effects on the Real Instrument Track. You should find the 'AUPeakLimiter' is what you are looking for.

I want to know the Revision Level for a particular Material for BOM Creation.
Can anyone please let me know from which Table or Funtion Module can I get the Rev Level, once I pass MATNR (Material) and AENNR (Change Number).

I am working on screen exit for RFQ Creation through T-Code u2013 ME41 and using enhancement - MM06E005. In one scenario I am facing problem, It goes like this:
We are creating RFQ with ref to PR and adopting line items from it. If we are using PR created for materials its working f9 but when we are adopting PR for Services in RFQ, I am not able to get service level data in any of the exiting available exists of Enhancement - MM06E005. I guess this Service level data is stored in table u2013 ESLH (Service Package Header Data), ESLL (Lines of Service Package). As no reference structure or table available in Exits so I am not able to get this data. Is there any way to get this data. Is there any class or object available ?u2026.. Please adviceu2026..

Problems getting images to export down to 200kb limit for posting on websites

websites often have a size limit that they can accept when you download an image. For example BPN's forum has a 200KB limit. Since 3.3, I often have problems getting an export from a Canon raw file or DNG down to that size. I get an error message indicating that it cannot create an image that size. Never had the problem on 3.2. (note I can export to email but that is a very small file and I would like files closer to 200KB and within the 1000 x 800 pixels to be downloaded)...thoughts?

I too recently had major problems using filesize limit. I pretty-much never use it m'self, so its a dont-care to me personally, but my conclusion was: its broken.
PS - I did not scrutinize for a long time... - just got a lot of "can not make image" errors when I believed I should not have gotten those errors.
I'd suggest a good scrutinizing followed by an official bug report.
Honestly, I think controlling quality is a better solution, whenever possible (unless you have constraints imposed by an external agency...) The reason: not all photos need the same amount of bits to look decent. So, in general its better to have some photos take more while others take less, and have the average filesize be limited, not individual filesizes.

Seems like you are having an issue with the username.

IDOC problem during goods confirmation in SRM

Hi guys,
I am facing some problem during goods confirmation in SRM.I am getting an error relate to IDOCs.i have setup the desired message and partner ID for goods confirmation in SRm but the IDOC gets stuck with the code 30 and the idicator is yellow.But when i manually reproces trhe IDOC after that it works fine.I dont want to process it manually.Can anyone help me out with the possible source of problem.

Problem getting WiFi to accept my password

Hey All. Just got my new Kin TwoM tonight! Yay. Like someone else said, I had to call Verizon to get it activated. Wouldn't work online. 1st Tech Support couldn't get it programmed manually, but Tier II got it programmed. That took a good 30 minutes. Now I'm trying to get WiFi working. I turned on Wifi and it's detecting my home network, but it won't recognize my password. Keeps saying it's wrong. Now it's an easy password for me to remember, but I figured I better double check my password that I have written down and filed away, and I do have the correct password. It's all numeric, and I thought maybe I was using the letter O instead of a zero, but the zero is up in the top row with all the numbers so that's not the problem. I then went into my router to make sure I didn't go and change the password at some point, but the password is what I've had it set to for years and what I'm trying to get the phone to accept. Anyone else have a problem getting WiFi to accept the password? My router is a Dlink. The phone is showing it as WEP, so I thought maybe there's a problem with the phone and WEP and maybe I should try another encryption. Or do I have to allow access in my router or something?. I went in and disabled the password on my router and the Kin was able to connect fine. I enabled the password again, re-entered it on my phone and it won't connect with the password. Any other ideas? Oh this is frustrating. I finally got my phone wifi to connect to my home network once by manually adding my network, but I couldn't seem to get it connected again when I try the same way. When I was connected, I still couldn't open any webpages, but it did download my email. BUT...it wouldn't open any email unless it was text only. I was wondering if it was because I turned off Data Services in my Verizon account. I thought you had to do that so that you wouldn't accidentally connect to 3G when there was no WiFi. I did try to renew my IP, but no change. I tried manually connecting to my home network another 10 times or so, and I finally got it to connect again, and I can now access the internet. The wifi on this phone must be VERY buggy. That's a real dissapointment since the phone has so many great features. I suppose it is possible that my phone has an faulty Wifi. I'll see if I have problems connecting to wifi elsewhere. I did try at work yesterday and couldn't get connected, but I wasn't sure how good the wifi was at work so I didn't really worry about that. I am NOT going to mess with the wifi connection to my home network now that I finally got it connected. Hopefully after I turn off wifi, it will be able to reconnect the next time I turn it on. One can hope anyway!

PE 12 Video Quality - does it have to be so difficult to get good results

I downloaded PE11 trial before PE12 was released, which has since expired, but I have been monitoring this forum to see how PE12 is doing. I am also trying other editors.
A common problem theme I see here for PE is the video quality. With auto settings, so many people are posting that the quality is terrible. There are suggestions on how to improve quality, but they seem to be very intrusive and time consuming, using other apps to 'prepare' media before bringing into PE. This add lots of time to ones workflow, especially when trying to simply import some assets, and burn a DVD or create a file.
It just seems to me that it shouldn't have to be that hard. Many other editors can look into properties of the imported assets and render with fine quality. Why can't PE be that easy...or am I expecting too much?

No two situations are alike. And, as I always write, problems with the same symptoms can (often do) have different causes.
I think that you need to zero in on your specific computer environment and your installation of Premiere Elements in order to make some headway into finding the reason for what you are seeing working in your Premiere Elements in your specific computer environment. Besides settings and the like, there are expectations that may not be consistent with the format resolution and the size of the viewer screen.
You did not answer my question about your target format. But, from what you wrote, I am assuming that you are addressing yourself to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc and not AVCHD on DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc. I get good results with any of the three with Premiere Elements in my Windows computer environment.
But, after weigning all factors, you feel that you want to be heard by Adobe, then I would suggest that you contact Adobe directly or through the Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Problem getting full internet service

I have an imac running 10.4. I am connected to a brand new net gear router and running cox cable internet. The problem is wirelessly i am getting a very weak signal, where as there are three other PC's on the same router and they're getting a much faster connection. The PC's are getting about 10,000kbps where as im only getting about 1200 kbps.
Next the connection doesnt have anything to do with structures blocking the signal because 2 of the 3 PC's signals are actually going further and threw much more than mine.
Also i have connected to other wireless routers and isp's perfectly and this is the first time i have encountered a problem.
I'm thinking there is a setting a 2 that just might be off preventing me from fully accessing the internet.

Also i contacted apple via telephone and they told me they couldnt help me and that i needed to contact NetGear. So i called netgear and they told me it was clear that the problem wasnt the router because the other computers were getting good connection, and that i needed to contact my isp. So i called cox and they told me they dont support routers.
So now im stuck and have no idea where to go from here.
If anyones gone through this or has any other suggestions i would really appreciate it.

Your approach is somewhat odd. The selected values are just reflected in the groupIds, but you're overridding it with backing.getSomeIds() each time when the getter is called.

Problem getting correct data from MS Access after doing an Update

I have a problem getting correct data after doing an update. This is the scenario
I am selecting some(Eg: All records where Column X = �7� ) records and update a column with a particular value (SET Column X = �c� ) in all these records by going through a while loop. In the while loop I add these records to a vector too, and pass it as the return value.
After getting this return value I go through a for loop and get each record one by one from the DB and check if my previous update has actually happened. Since No errors were caught while updating DB, I assume all records are updated properly but my record set shows one after another as if it has not been updated. But if I open the DB it is actually updated.
This does not happen to all records, always it shows like this
