Problem Hotkey Features 2.23.000
Hi there,
we have a big problem with the unattended Installation of hotkey features, because during the installation of hotkey features a GUI splash ups, the GUI doesn´t need interaction, but if you install it via altiris deployment solution, the hotkey feature is install at an other users context. so the installation doesn´t work.
Is there a really silent switch setup /s produce this GUI. or is there a fix for this problem ?

We have exactly the same problem. We are developing a new unattended install for 20 new Thinkpads, and we will need to package this software ourselves now, just because /S does not work.
Other IBM components that use the same install, also do not work correctly, such as the Thinkvantage Productivity Center setup

I've been having this problem for quite a while. I've notice that after a couple of days, one of the services of ThinkPad Hotkey Features, On Screen Display, have been disabled for some reason and seems impossible to restore without reinstallation. For instance, when I press Fn + F5 (wireless is on), instead of giving me the black screen to allow me to switch on/off wireless and Bluetooth, it only enable/disable the bluetooth button every time I press it. Same goes with the indicator icons of brightness and volume when I readjust them through the Fn + Home/End and Volume control buttons respectively.
I've contacted Lenovo service and they told me to reinstall the On Screen Display. However the problem keeps coming back. Is there any other way to do this so I don't have to reinstall time and again?
Appreciate if there are answers fast.
P.S. My system is a laptop with Lenovo T60 and Windows XP Professional SP2 (preinstalled), and I owned it for about 3 years already.

I discovered how to locate earlier versions - I my case had to go back 3 versions of HotKey fix. For my laptop, T60 2007-49U, the latest version is 3.86.0000 - I found that 3.84.2000 restored both audio & brightness levels on screen display.
One point though, my previous display was a series of green bars - the new display is a black bar with white characters... no real problem - at least the On Screen Display is back!

T60 Laptop Doesn't Display On-Screen Volume After Hotkey Features Integration Update
I have a ThinkPad T60 (2008-HC6) laptop running Windows 8 Pro (32-bit). Today (1-24-2013), I installed the "Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8" update that was released on January 18, 2013. After reboot, the on-screen indicator that pops up when I change the volume on my laptop by pressing the volume up, volume down, or mute keys doesn't show up. The keys work fine, but the indicator doesn't display.
I've already tried looking for a solution online. One common solution, installing Lenovo Energy Management, didn't solve my problem. No other software was changed on my laptop between when the power indicator last worked and when I installed the Hotkeys update.

Go to Solution.I figured out the problem was with the "On Screen Display" portion of the update. This particular update has two parts to it. First, it adds the "Lenovo Patch Utility" program. Second, it updates the "On Screen Display" program, assuming that an older version was already on the computer being updated. Adding the "Lenovo Patch Utility" didn't cause any harm, but updating the "On Screen Display" prevents the on-screen volume indicator from displaying.
Ultimately, what I ended up doing was removing the "On Screen Display" with the same utility that I used to update it. Then I downloaded the next newest version of the utility and installed that utility's version of the "On Screen Display" program.
My on-screen volume indicator is now back and running fine. -
ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration 3.89.0000 On Screen Display and Mute Button Fail
I am installing updates on a T400 system running WIndows 7 Pro 64-bit.
The system has been freshly factory restored and all features work properly...
After running System Restore to update to the latest drivers and recommended software, I find Thinkpad Hotkey Features Integration 3.89.0000 breaks features.
I am able to use Hotkeys to change brightness up/down, Fn+F5, Fn+F6, etc. The volume up and down keys work to change volume. The mute button does not work at all! There is no On Screen Display to show the adjustment settings for any Hotkeys.
I have found that installing the older 3.88.0000 (8jvu40ww.exe) version of ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration works successfully with mute button functionality as well as the On Screen Display features.
Comparing what is different between the 3.89.0000 and 3.88.0000 versions, I find On Screen Display version and Full Screen Magnifier have advanced. The version information table at the bottom of the software download page is inconsistent compared to what is actually reported from the 3.88.0000 setup.exe:
Setup shows:
On Screen Display 6.71.00
Full Screen Magnifier 2.40
The table shows:
On Screen Display 6.72.00
Full Screen Magnifier 2.41
The System Interface Driver is 1.05 on all the recent versions.
With the 3.89.0000 version installed, I cannot uninstall and go back to the older version to get it working. Instead, I have to do a System Restore to a point previous to the newest install... something changes in the new version but I am not yet sure what.
I have no warranty on this system. Lenovo technical support is unwilling to entertain a conversation about solving this issue with their software unless I purchase a support package. Perhaps someone from Lenovo reads this forum and/or one of the community members has a contact or option so that I may report the issue to those who are responsible for resolving Lenovo software issues. I am hopeful they can solve it in their next release so that I do not have to hide the current version from System Update.
If anyone has ideas on what causes the latest On Screen Display or Full Screen Magnifier to disable the mute button and prevent On Screen Display from working... I would love to try and solve that problem. Additionally, if you have ideas on what prevents uninstalling and going back to an older version, that would also be helpful as I would not like to rely on System Restore.
If there is no solution other than to avoid 3.89.0000 it is what I will do and this message will help others so they do not spend hours to confirm the issue is with the 3.89.0000 version rather than suspecting hardware issues.

Thank goodness Lenovo offers previous versions in a table at the bottom of the pages so we can try older versions and go back to what works. It is a shame they do not advertise a link or other option to report bugs and issues with Lenovo software/drivers directly.This is the roulette you play with updating functions that are already working properly.
If it's not broken, don't fix it. Do the release notes describe a fix or enhancement that you want? No? Then leave it alone. Hiding updates in Lenovo Update is the easiest solution. For RChesley, in this case.
Bob, I realize that you want the function that the update is supposed to deliver, but the update has failed you. It's like installing version 1.0.0 of software sometimes, with Lenovo Update. You're never quite sure what you're going to get. There's tons of posts here that read as though the users are beta testers--installing updates and finding the bugs! So the developers can go back to the code and try again.
I've learned to never be an early adopter here. -
Laptops do not display On Screen Display volume bar after Hotkeys Features Integration update

I have also included most of the following information in response to a post, on the same subject, for T series machines.
I have 2 machines that are also affected by this problem, an R61 (8932-CTO XP-Pro-SP3 32-bit) and an R500 (2714-CTO XP-Pro-SP3 32-bit).
System update recently presented me with Hotkeys version 3.87.0000 on both of these machines, and I let System Update update the drivers in the vain hope that Lenovo had fixed this problem that has been previously reported as affecting many other series and models.
No such luck.
The only difference that I would like to report is that, for me, the last version of the Hotkey Features Integration package that displays the volume bar on my Windows XP machines is: 3.84.5000. I have all versions of the Hotkeys drivers saved on my machine and was therefore able to try them all out to verify which one was the last one that worked for me.
On both of the above mentioned systems, the version of Access Connections that is running is version 5.97.
On the R61, the version of Power Manager that is running is version 5.20.
On the R500, the version of Power Manager that is running is version 5.13. (System Update does not show version 5.20 as an available update on this machine.)
It would be really nice if Lenovo could finally fix this problem.

I am a volunteer, and not a paid staff of Lenovo or Microsoft -
I have a T42 - 2373-TG7 and run the ThinkVatage system update ver. 5 program on a regular base. At the moment it will not install the latest Hotkey Feature ver. 3.84.1500.0.
During the istall I'm getting the Notice: "This proram does not support this system".
Than the system update program tells me to istall the Feature manually. When I do that I get the same message.
When I look to the C:\DRIVERS\HOTKEY directory it seems like that the data are there. When I execute the setup.exe program in this directory I get again the same notice "This proram does not support this system".
Any help is apreciated.

Copy error when install Thinkpad HotKey features integration package under windows 7 U system
Hey all,
i upgraded operation system on my T61 to windows 7. All drivers work fine except Thinkpad HotKey features integration package. i used update manager 4. it suggested me to install this package but when i run it it keep pop out windows and say that file can not be copy to a folder ...
How can i solve this issue ? any clues ?

It is not offered through systemupdate or update retriever.
in the update retriever program folder i have been looking at the file "C:\Programmer\Lenovo\Update Retriever\session\2243-Windows XP-DA-QuestResponse.xml" and when searching this file for "81vu13ww" i find a section like this:

I am facing a problem regarding feature 40ack. For the year 2010 the acknowledgement numbers is not getting saved or activate the error showing " Decision operation not unique because field value occurs several times. Please tell me the solution.Under FYEAR you will already have values for previous years like 2008, 2009 etc. Note that only one decision parameter of FYEAR will be required. Don't create more than 1.
Now Put cursor on FYEAR and clcik on create button, it will ask for a new value of year, here you maintain 2010 and enter.
Now select 2010 and again click on create. Now you will get a pop up screen which will contain the radio button like 'Return Table', 'Field for decision parameter' etc. Here select return table and and maintain the acknowledgement number in
1/123456789012345 format.

Hello,
I have a W530 with win 7 64 bit installed. Some time ago I mistakenly uninstalled Hotkey Features Integration for Windows using the windows 7 control panel.

Also please advise if this is easy to install ( I am not an expert) and if there are any potential issues if I install it.

Hotkey Features for multi monitor mode
I'm working with my T60 on docking station connection to 2 screens. When I want to switch the primary and secondary screens, the Hotkey Features package allows me to do so by pressing "Fn+Space".
The issue is that I'm using a docking station with regular keyboard that does not have a "Fn" key, so I need to open my laptop and do it from there. The other alternative is even more complex in the Intel driver display menu.
Is there a short and easy way to switch the place of my primary and secondary screens using the extended keyboard?Hi wile_coyote,

"Hotkeys Features Integration" will not install unattended
Hi,
We have customized our OS roleout by automating the installation of all the software we wish to provide our Laptop users.
This includes all the Lenovo software components we feel they need.
One of these is of course the "Hotkeys Features Integration" package.

Our installation image is currently based on Windows XP Pro, EN, SP3
Now according to the readme, this package supports unattended installation:
Unattended Install
This is for system administrators' use only.
1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the file.
2. In the step 11 of the Installing files section, uncheck the checkbox next
to "Install ..... now", and then click Finish to cancel installation.
3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the /S option.
Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\setup /S
However, we have found that, while all the other Lenovo packages seem to install fine with the /S option or something similar, this package will not.
It will return a status code of 0 (completed) but in fact will not have installed anything.
If we then run the install manually from the command line, including the /s option, it seems to install fine.
If I had to guess, it is going wrong because the installer is somehow doing something under the assumption it is being launched in a GUI session.
However, our customization scripting runs as a background service, and does not actually use a GUI session. It is all done as a background process. All the other Lenovo packages have no issue with installing under that scenario, but this one, for some reason, does.
Anyone have any idea how to work around this?could you list all the other lenovo software & what laptop model you are working

The subject iine pretty much describes what happened.
I am wondering if it is anything to do with what looks like an odd file in the directory ~ Library -> Application Support -> Address Book
As well as the "real" database file there is this zero bytes one:
AddressBook-v22.abcddb.0F392545-78F2-4AE6-8D30-457C138332B2.unknown
From the date, it might be something to do with installing and linking Cobook to Address Book maybe?
These are the files and folders in that directory (sub-directory files not shown):
I have enabled the debug menu in Address Book but have not been able to find any info about how to use it. I lie! I did read that I might possibly have been able to "retrieve" the contacts using the debug menu "Force Refresh" - however that was after I had started to resync with Gmail contacts.
I realised that something odd was going on during resync when I saw that there were over 4,000 contacts being processed rather than the 2,000 or so that I was expecting. Initially, none of the contacts groups from Gmail were showing in Address Book after this partial sync (I stopped it when I saw what was happening). However, after quitting and restarting Address Book, the groups appeared again.
I have not lost my contact data - as well as Gmail contacts I also have an Address Book backup from about two weeks ago and also the backup created by Cobook about two weeks ago. (Installed Cobook as it looked like a very efficient way of getting to view individual contacts quickly - Quicksilver just isn't finding them at all). I used third party app "Contacts Sync for Google Gmail" to link Address Book with Gmail as it gives you options about what to do for each duplicate card that it identifies.
I then spent a lot of time sorting through the contacts on Address Book, finding duplicates, updating data, etc. with the intention of managing contacts in Address Book from then on, rather than in Gmail. Not all of these changes are reflected in the Cobook backup or Gmail.
My worry is, with Lion being such a god-awful Pig's Ear in so many more ways than this, that this Address Book mess might happen again.
I seem to have spent most of my time over the last month wrestling with the numerous problems that keep cropping up with Lion and getting little to show for it.
WARNING! FOOT-STAMPING WHINGE ABOUT LION - LOOK AWAY AND DOWN TO THE HOWLING FACES - IT WON'T BE ANYTHING THAT YOU HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE:
I gave up on OSX when I tried Panther - that was dreadful - but was lured back by Tiger, have used Leopard very comfortably for about 5 years, had a very happy couple of months with Snow Leopard and now - this mess that is Lion! I have repaired OSX install permissions and "home user" permissions time and again, TinkerTooled it until I am blue in the face and it seems that every few days I manage to fix something and then almost immediately something else screws up. I can't upgrade to Mountain Lion on this machine and am seriously considering installing or running Linux as these problems with Lion are just never-ending - and then there are all the other stupid changes that have subsequently been sensibly reverted, mitigated or worked around in ML).
I have never bothered much with Address Book or Mail in the past as I have found them too limited. I have used either the Gmail web interface or Thunderbird. However, Gmail has started crashing my favourite browsers (Seamonkey and Firefox), Thunderbird has got just a bit too complicated and I cannot get Quicksilver to play ball with Gmail. The Lion version of Address Book is better than Gmail Contacts and Mail Smart Folders can emulate Gmail filters and labels - a huge improvement. So, just when these apps look good enough to be worth bothering with, they come part and parcel with what I have seen mocked, and rightly, as "Apple Vista"!
Sorry for that but I am about at the end of my tether with it all ;-/
I would be very grateful if anyone can offer any advice about:
1) That strange looking zero bytes file in the Address Book folder.
2) Whether the Address Book debug menu options might be of any help in this situation?
There seem to be lots of people having problems with Address Book in both Lion and Mountain Lion, if not exactly this issue, so maybe the answers will help others too.

ps. In the product list to tick for this question they are grouped so I cannot specify that this is actually nothing to do with the iPhone. I have got a load of contacts on my iPhone too but I am not going to sync them until I have got this issue sorted out.Could this font be the cause of the problem?
Possibly, since that font is not the one that Address Book uses and there is no method to specify or change the font used by Address Book. You could have recovered your Address Book contacts without syncing, so that could also be part of the problem. You should always make a keep a backup of your Address Book on your computer and in another safe location whenever you make any change to it.
May I ask why you haven't updated to 10.4.11 yet, as it provides various bug fixes and security enhancements?

- When 1 port on any devices down , I don't see any alarm about this . Plz tell me What kinds of alarm in PI ?
- I can't receive any syslog on these devices although I have configured and received on LMS .
2. Client and Users :
- What is the client ? On some Switchs just has 24 ports but show more 24 clients .

I have 2 switchs . They have connected ( Switch A-- Switch B on port 24 ). On 1 switch A have connect 1 router A , from router A connected router B .
