PROBLEM: HP p2015 printing strange Characters

In our office we have an HP 2015 that has started printing abnormal characters on the end pages of say, a 6 page document. The first three pages will be ok, and then the remaining three pages will have symbols and strange characters in replace of the normal alphabet characters.
I've noticed it doing this from ADOBE PDF documents that are larger than 3-4 pages. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions? I have re-installed the latest drivers, and the printer appears to have the latest updates.

    I currently use Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 and when printing to a PDF file it prints strange characters...not at all what I want to be printed. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium. Have others experienced this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's interesting that this problem only manifests itself in certain applications. A friend installed a program called CuteWriterPDF and the applications that I was having difficulty with writing PDF files are taken care of perfectly with this small program. It was just an experiment but it worked. This is not a perfect fix as I would prefer a solution from Adobe but at least I'm back up and running.
    Thanks much for taking the time to reply!

  • Acrobat X Prints Strange Characters

    In the last week or so I have had two separate instances of folks having trouble printing large documents from Adobe Reader X.  Both were printing to HP Printers, one an officejet connected via USB and another a networked LaserJet.  The first few pages of the document would print fine but then the rest of the document prints strange characters.  A second attempt to print the document generally succeeds, leading us to believe that it may just take some time for the program to "fill out" the file or something.  Has anyone else experienced problems like this with Acrobat recently?

    Yes I have a computer in our office that is pluged into a HP Laserjet 2015 and it is doing the same thing when printing from pdf's.  After some testing I have gotten it to repete the messed up/strange characters.  It seems that it will mess up everytime you print and then close out of the file, even tho it has spooled the print, and the printer is not finished printing.  But if you leave the file open for the duration of the print, even tho it is spooled, it will print fine without messing up.  Still looking into why this is doing this, it does not matter what PCL printer driver that I have tried for it... I have not tried using a PS driver yet.

    when i print a pdf from preview it prints strange characters - it looks fine on screen

    You can also try opening the PDF with preview, then doing a copy and paste to TextEdit and printing from there.
    Adobe makes it easier, but you do have software to accomplish this.
    Only download Adobe reader from this site, to avoid "fakes/spoofs/malware" that will cause damage to your machine.

  • Acrobat Reader Prints Strange Characters

    The Reader prints files in a strange character encoding which looks like nothing - )*&#$@^(%)&%@#?><{::} and characters you cannot find on your keyboard. When printing from other PC's it's working perfectly. It does that with all languages and all PDF files.
    Here is a scanned result of the printing:

  • J6480 printing strange characters + correct info on same pg

    I have a J6480 that is set up wireless on my Dell desktop (OS = XP SP2) and when I print EOB's from my insurance sometimes they print part English and part I'm not sure.  There are just characters showing where there should be the information that was loaded into the printer driver.
    I searched the forum but most of the posts there are due to false paper jam alert.  It may take 3 or 4 tries to get it to print properly.  Luckily I print on the Fast mode so I'm not wasting that much ink, but still it's very frustrating.
    Any help you can provide would be terrific.
    Thanks much.

    That sounds more like code than a printer error. How long has it been since you defragged your machine? That was the source of a friend's problem -- she'd had her computer for several years and *never* defragmented the hard drive. The printer she thought was worthless was actually working fine, but it couldn't communicate with her hard drive because of all the disconnected data. Because of the extent of her electronic clutter, it took over an hour for the defrag to finish, but once it was done the printer worked fine again.
    It's worth trying -- it's very simple, will do no harm and might even solve your problem. A disk cleanup is also a good idea. If you're on Windows, here's how to do it (in case you don't already know):
    1) Empty your Trash folder if you haven't already.
    2) Go to Start/Programs/System Tools/Disk Cleanup and follow the dialogue instructions.
    3) Go back to Start/Programs/System Tools, but this time choose Defragment. Again, follow the instructions. Don't bother with Analyze -- go straight to Defragment.
    Do these things at least once a month, depending on how much use you give your computer, and you'll find it runs faster and with fewer errors.
    Hope it solves your problem.

  • Strange characters and symobls print in the middle of a print job. Help.

    In the middle of a print job, whether one page or several, it starts printing strange characters and symbols until the end of the job.  It will do this in the middle of the page, or after printing one line of English and the rest of the page in gibberish.
    It usually does this while printing off bank statements from the internet or a pdf file pulled from the internet.  I don't think it has ever printed any of my documents.
    However, it has done this while printing a bill received as an attachment to an email from a friend.
    The next print job will usually be back to "normal".  But one day, it did this many times during the day.  Frustrating!
    Appreciate any help.

    I had this happen to me with a PDF file once.  I called Support at HP,
    and they told me it was because I had labeled the PDF as "text" when
    it actually has (technically) "pictures" in it -- the printer didn't know how
    to print those "pictures" (symbols?) as "text," so it came out as gibberish.
    Perhaps there's a teckie here who can tell you more eloquently.  [And
    what to do about it!]

    Hi
    I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

    Do the following:
    Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
    Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
    Calibrate the monitor

  • Report previews and prints with strange characters

    I have a custom XI application which uses CCrystalReportViewer11 (C++ wrapper around ActiveX control) to preview reports. This works for hundreds of installations, but for one the text is displayed and printed with strange characters. If the customer exports the report the characters are displayed as normal. What could be wrong?

    More than likely, it's a printer driver issue. It may even be that there is no default printer driver installed. Also, see if setting a different default printer driver helps. You can also set the "No Printer" option in the report by opening it in the designer and going to the File menu and selecting "Page Setup".

  • Printing problem - printout that become garbage characters

    I am having problems printing - not everything and not all of the time.
    But to often I will print something and it will start printing garbage characters page after page. - Wastes a lot of clean paper.
    It happens with different applications - including web pages, pdf files, Movie magic Screenwriter. No rhyme of reason to it.
    I have a Brother hl-6050 printer. The correct driver is correct.
    I should also say this does not happen from Windows (either in a virtual window from my MAC or booting directly to windows) ever.
    Last but not least - We print thru a little print server made by Trendnet. It has the lastest firmware. Again only a problem on the MAC. I've tried connecting thru the ip as well as the server name.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Paul

    I'll see if I can provide some of that -
    Model Trendnet: TEW-P1UG, Wireless print server (802.11g). (Server Name:PS-705EF8)
    Adding a new printer in the default options - the systems finds the print server and Lists it twice - Once with Appletalk and the other Bonjour.
    The local comes up as Local Zone. I select the Driver for this printer: HL-6050DN series CUPS. -- The Queue name defaults to PS-705EF8-U1.
    Using Appletalk made no sense
    Using IP - Default to LPD. The queue becomes the IP address.
    Using LPP or LPD: neither work. Can't even print a test page.
    I'm less familiar with these particular variations. More use to Windows printing setup which is a little more straight forward. Go figure.
    Thanks

  • Strange characters in the string - maybe charset problem?

    Hi!
    I have a small program which downloads URL document from youtube. When I print the document it is full of strange characters like this:
    17. Ñ?ептембар 2010
    This is a date in cirilic - serbian(17. Септембар 2010)
    Here is the code which downloads URL doc and print it:
    String Date;
    String Source="";
    String URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVnUeEdYQrI";
    try
    URL yahoo = new URL(URL);
    URLConnection yc = yahoo.openConnection();
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
    new InputStreamReader(
    yc.getInputStream()));
    String inputLine;
    while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
    Source=Source+inputLine+"\n";
    in.close();
    catch(Exception e)
    System.out.println(Source);
    Is somebody has some ideas?

  • [SOLVED] Font problem. Zsh prompt shows strange characters.

    I am seeing strange characters in Zsh prompt only, bash works fine. I probably did not follow the font configuration section of Arch Beginner's Guide properly during installation. Earlier I had problems with login consoles too (tty2, tty3, all those black screens you can go to using CTRL+ALT+F2/F3 etc.) But I fixed those problems by creating /etc/vconsole.conf.
    Zsh problem still remains. I am using oh-my-zsh.
    I am out of ideas as to what to do. Please help.

    What happens if you remove all the oh-my-zsh stuff?
    From your screenshot it looks like you are in X: you might want to change your thread title as it is a little misleading.

  • Problem when printing Thai Characters in Smartform

    Hi All,
    When printing thai characters in smartform it takes more spaces between characters than required. I tried all possible font to adjust the character spacing.
    Can anyone help me out.
    Thanks,
    Khushboo Dand

    Dear Khushboo, Jag
    I have observed that tThe tiny boxes that are appearing in the Smartform text element is only occuring when you are printing a variable whose content is thai and nothing else with that. by nothing else i mean no THAI hardcoded text.
    if you try and check you will observe that when you try to print something like this in your Text element
    with your paragraph format alright/ output device and device type everythng in place
    eg:
    ของผู้มีเงินได้ &G_VAR& -
    is printing alright : content of G_VAR is thai characters
    but if you are printing just the variable
    eg:
    &G_VAR& --- it will print boxes
    to overcome this after trying no.of checks / online helps / settings etc etc which , ofcourse, did not help
    I did a lil bit trick with the system
    You can create a character format in your smartstyle with FONT : THANGSAN and maintain the COLOR as white
    now go to your text element key in a THAI character at the start or end of you variable and assign your new character format to that character. and Eureka! it will work
    eg: <CF> ข </>  &G_VAR&  - --- seen in your change editor
    where CF is the new "colorless" character format I have asked you to create.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Problem over printing Vietnamese characters

    Hi,
    We installed the Vietnamese language. The Vietnamese charcaters can be
    displayed properly. But we encountered error over printing Vietnamese
    characters. The Vietnamese charcaters cannot be displayed properly.
    What device type settings is needed for printing Vietnamese characters ?
    Pls advise.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    As per your query you have to set swin type if you have any issue. If your system is given your country language then you can get the same with swin setting.

  • Laserjet Pro 200 M251NW printing Garbage characters multiple pages after just setting up

     I am installing the printer for the first time on a Dell Optiplex with Windows 7 32bit, it is about a year old and is working fine with other printers. The printer was working fine through USB on a laptop running windows XP.
    Connected the printer to an open USB on the computer and the auto install started running from the printer. It seemed to run OK, I followed all of the prompts, etc. When I said it should print a test page it started printing multiple pages each with a few lines of what I would call garbage text, strange characters, spaces, random letters, etc. It kept printing pages and I had to turn the printer off to get it to stop.
    I was thinking that maybe the drivers from the printer were old and not for Windows 7, so I then download the full driver from the HP website and installed that. It said it would uninstall the original driver, which it did, then it installed and again all seemed OK until I printed the test page, and the same thing as above happened. I also tried printing some text from notepad and it went to the print queue then disappeared. It still seemed like a driver problem to me so I manually uninstalled from the start menu program Uninstall for the printer. This time I downloaded the basic driver and installed - still with the same result. I thought maybe it was because the Quick STart from the printer kept loading when the printer was turned on so I turned it off from the menu on the printer, but it still didn't help. I also tried another USB port on the computer with the same result.
    Is it possible there is software left from the first install that may not have been for Windows 7 and it needs to be removed manually??
    Any help from HP or anyone would be greatly appreciated as I need to get this printer running for our shipping system ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    I tried all of those things and it is always the same result. Even on the network, printing from the same computer. I was able to print properly from a different computer, to the HP 200 connected to the USB and shared on the original computer - so I then knew the USB was OK.
    I was looking online further and found the HP Universal  PCL6 driver, and it actually worked! I don't really understand why the proper driver will not work with the printer though. I even created a new user on the computer so all of the programs, etc. would not load, then I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver - still same problem. The computer also has drivers and printer software for Epson printers, so I don't know if that could be causing some type of problem.
    It is good that we can at least do basic printing but I really should have the fully functional driver working for the system. Any help from anyone, and hopefully HP monitors these discussions and can help out.
    Thanks,
    Rich
