Problem importing/adding music

My wife's iPod recently was erased by iTunes. Don't know why, but it happened. So, fearing that iTunes might delete what was on the computer too, I decided to backup her iTunes music folder before re-syncing(which is on an external hard drive)by making a copy of it. During the copy, something went wrong, leaving me with neither the original iTunes music folder or the copy. I ran Active Undelete and managed to retreive all but one album (purchased through iTMS). In addition, I had an older backup of the folder on a different drive.
So, after picking my way through all of these folders, I've managed to recreate the iTunes music folder (with one exception), and have deleted the Library and XML files. I told iTunes to Add Folder, which it did, but has selectively excluded some files and folders. I tried manually adding these files, but iTunes does not add them or give an error message. What do you think is the problem? Do you think the "recovered" files are corrupt? If so, I guess I'll go begging to Apple for a re-download.

By any chance, are those songs in MP3 format? If so treat them with a 3rd party tag cleanup program such as MP3 Val.

Comodo Firewall causes problems when adding music

When I have Comodo Firewall installed (even when it's closed), I have trouble adding music to iTunes. It hangs and adds one song every 10 minutes. If I add more music to iTunes, it'll start adding the previous queue. In Comodo, I've listed iTunes as a trusted program. I have a pretty big library, but I think this is mainly a firewall program. I've disabled Defense+. There is not much help available in Comodo forums.

* is the project located on your Mac's local drive or external?
* is the iTunes library on the Mac's local drive or external?
* is the "internet" (<<woohoo, bad kharma;-) ) music coded as aac, mp3 or aiff? or, something different, internet "standard", as ogg, wav, whatever?
your Mac/iM tries to playback in realtime (sure, that makes sense with a movie...), but obviously has too much to do encoding the music...
in case you own QTpro or a designated audio-app (Garageband, Audacity), try to convert the internet music (<<woohoo, bad kharma... ah, said that) BEFORE import to iM into aiff...
in case of usage of external harddrives:
make sure, the drive is "MacOsExtended" formatted, not FAT32... use Disk Utility to accomplish that (any reformatting erases all content!)
pay the artists//respect local laws//get good kharma

Help Needed! I have created a 13 Min Slide Show in iPhoto (iMac Mavericks) but am having problem with adding music.

I created a 13 min Slide Show in iPhoto but have a question on adding music. I would like to add music clips that are set to change at the beginning of certian slides so that there is a varity of music during the show rather than a continuous theme clip. I know you can add multiple clips but can you pin them to change at a particular point in the program? Right now the music clips just run to their time limit and the next one starts. Isn't there a way to edit them the way it can be done in iMovie? Its frustrating to be able to create a nice slide show and not be able to manage the music background. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't have that fine grained control of the soundtrack in iPhoto. It's designed for a quick job, not a complex one.
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.

Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

Problems with added music sound tracks

Please Help. My music sound files added to iMovie 09 are stuck on full volume and when I close and re-open my project the sound has slightly shifted and is out of sync with the video. The project is over 1 hour long with many varied added sound effects.
I would really appreciate any help

If you go to page 8 of this forum, you'll see that over 1,200 of us have experienced basic audio problems with iMovie 09. I guess you should pick and choose your solution from those who responded on that post...(?)

Problems with adding music folder to itunes

I have a music folder I want to add. The files are WMA so they should work. I checked the permissions of the files and the folders and they are fine. I changed the open with to open with itunes. I tried adding by choosing file - add to library, nothing happens.
I also tried by drag and drop, again nothing.
I cant seem to figure this out, what is preventing them from adding?

iTunes for Mac does not handle WMA. You need to either convert those in iTunes for PC or get something like EasyWMA.

Problem with adding music to a slide show

I am trying to add add'l music to a slide show in Elements 9. The first songs added easily. I am now getting a message that the "codec" is insufficient. There does not seem to be any difference in the properties of the songs that are being rejected and the songs that loaded. How do I correct this to add the MP3 songs?

Problems importing the music from my computer itunes to my Ipad

I am stuck. I recently bought an Ipad Mini and I am very happy with it. I have been using Ipod for years now and I have lots of music in my old computer but I cannot transfer that music to my Ipad. I can though from my Ipad to my computer. So it only works one way. Can anyone help please?

Problems with adding music to itunes

I have about 70gigs of music in a folder (all the albums inside the folder are organized in seperate folders) on my PC and when I go to File -> Add Folder to Library on Itunes, it transfers for about 10 seconds then stops...
Why won't it add the entire folder into my library? I have "copy files to itunes music folder" unchecked.

As far as I know, you must use iTunes to get songs in the iTunes library.
But there are a lot of 3rd-party applications you can check out that will get music from your PC to the iPod.
I don't have any specific recommendations, I have just seen these mentioned a lot...google on them.
Also Best Buy, Circuit City & the like have 3rd party applications on their shelves.

Problems with adding music and videos from a different computer?

I have a 30gig video and it doesnt let me add anything from a computer that my itunes library isnt connected with.
When i try 2 add something it says ill have to switch to this computers media library and it will delete whats on the ipod. I only want to add a few songs and videos and it without deleteing everything

After you set the iPod to manually update, connect it to the second computer. If that message still appears, click "No" on it. Then, select a song in the iTunes library that you want on your iPod and simply click and drag it to your iPod. The top of iTunes will say "updating iPod" if the song was successfully dragged to the iPod.

The article is much more detailed than what I could ever hope to go into... and it does address manually updating audio files, and using the iPod on an iTunes library that it is not linked to.

Problem Importing Music from

Hello, I just setup my network attached storage and I'm having problems importing music from it. I get a runtime error with CTImport.exe "abnormal program termination", nice and informati've (see below). I'm running MediaSource 3.30.2, the most recent version. I can add songs little by little, but anytime I try and import a bunch, I get the error. It's not the length of the pathname either, because I added the longest one individually, and it was fine.
I tried importing from a mapped dri've letter and from the network path directly, both have same problem. I also get the same error from the file sniffer built into MediaSource.
I'm actually running an external USB hard dri've that is attached to Linksys's Storage Link NLSU2 (or something). Don't know if that is the problem. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I originally had all my songs on my local dri've. Anyway, it turned out to be a "corrupt" file. This file was fine in every other media player I had, but MediaSource couldn't do anything with it, not even play it (it was an unprotected .wma). I don't know if that song was originally imported while on the local dri've, but I deleted it and MediaSource imported everything fine.
It was a pain hunting that one song down.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Problem importing music - CDs won't be read

Hello,
I'm re-importing my music onto an external hard drive after my multiple libraries got mixed up (I figured it'd be easier that wading through the 150+ gigs of music), and I have a problem. Music that I've had no trouble importing before is now causing me problems. I insert the CD into my MacBook Pro, and it'll spin up trying to read the CD three times, and then spit the CD back out. It doesn't even show up in iTunes.
Is there something I can do to fix this? I've imported the music, with no problem, before on my iMac G4 to the external drive. I've encountered this problem in the past, but not at this magnitude (I'd say about forty or so of my CDs won't work in the MBP). It's usually happened before on imported CDs, but I've gotten them to work in the past.
I've tried restarting iTunes as well as my computer, but no luck. The CDs are clean, and while not perfect, are clean enough that they should be recognized by the drive (when I put them in my iMac, they show up and work).
In case you're wondering (I don't know if it'll help or not), I'm using a MBP with the new Santa Rosa chipset. The music is going on to a LaCie External HD connected via FW 800. I'm using the latest version of iTunes software, and all the software is up-to-date. The iMac that I don't use, but the CDs work in, is a iMac G4 800 MHz.

I'm having a similar problem on my iMac G4. Some CDs will import fine, others just spin and won't read. I tested them on another Mac (in this case a G4 Aluminum and the CDs would read).
Don't know what to do here. If it were just one or two discs I would come up with a work around, but in this case, I have discs that would not import (1/2 of what I tried to import last night).
Have looked at my iTunes settings and don't see anything. Since the drive works for some CDs, I know it works. Appreciate any insight you can offer.

Adding music to N97 - Problem

Hello,
I get an error whenever i use the PC suite that I received on CD along with the phone. It fails when trying to install a driver called "MTP" something. However, I just added music manually without the program, but when I put it in the Music folder, I am unable to put the songs in album. So I now have 700 songs just randomly in the Music folder. Whenever I add another folder in Music, with the album name, it never makes it to the phone.
Why is that?

When you've added music to the phone manually, go into the music library and refresh it.

What is the problem with Itunes 11.0.1.12 and adding music to the Library? I had no problems when I updated, just had to get used to the new format and appearance. Added a few albums here and there, and then today I can't get anything in the Library. I've always just dragged and dropped my music with no problems. I've had an Ipod for the last six years and never encountered any big problems with Itunes or my various Ipods.

Why is this Itunes such a pile of junk? If I restart my computer I can sometimes find the recently added music in my Itunes Library.
It would be nice to know if other people are having the same problems.
