Problem importing AVCHD from Camcorder?

Having never previously had an issue importing the AVCHD file from the camcorder, for some reason I'm now receiving the following error message:
I have read other solutions to similar problems which state to unpack the containing folder to see BDMV files, to which i receive this error message...
The document “BDMV” could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (5)
Any advice on how I can get this content off my camera onto my Mac please?
The camera is a Canon XA25

First error message is
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “AVCHD” can’t be read or written.

  • Can't import AVCHD from camcorder  Error C0000005 at address:0

Every time I try to import any files from my camcorder I get a fatal error saying it can't import anything with an error code C0000005 at address 0.  This is just the trial version as I'm trying to see if it will do what I want and so far I can't get it to so anything.  PC is a Core I5 with 4gb ram and 200gb free drive space on Windows 7 64Bit.  I don't like the Sony software so I was hoping this would do it.  thanks for any ideas.

This is what I want you to try. I am assuming that you are in a NTSC area. Correct the following for PAL area if necessary.
Copy your AVCHD Full 1920 x 1080i (I am assuming recorded at 30 frames per second or designated 60 fields per second) with its 5.1 channel sound to your computer hard drive.
As you open Premiere Elements, set the project preset (new project dialog) = NTSC AVCHD Full HD 1080i30 5.1 channel.
Using Premiere Elements' Get Media/Files and Folders, bring the video from the saved hard drive location into the Premiere Elements Media/Timeline.
If you are not 100% sure of the quality in the Edit Mode Monitor, you could:
    a. try right clicking the video on the Timeline, selecting Field Options from the pop up list, and then see if checking Reverse Field Dominance improves the quality of what you are seeing in the Monitor....I suggest that because I think that you probably recording to a memory stick.
    b. render the Timeline by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard to get the best possible preview of the end product
Assuming that is a "go" and after completing your edits, head over to Create Menus. Do that. But, remember, because you have selected a HD project preset, the only DVD menu templates that will be available to you will be HD ones (and you are heading for a DVD-VIDEO widescreen). But, continue nonetheless. Let us see what it will look like.
After Create Menus, preview the menu buttons and the video there. If OK, continue to Share/Disc/Disc and burn to disc (do not get tempted into burn to folder or fall into ImgBurn just yet). In the burn dialog, set the preset for NTSC_Widescreen Dolby DVD that will give you DVD-VIDEO widescreen 16:9. In that same burn dialog, make sure that you have a check mark next to Fit Content to Available Space. When you have your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray, you will see a Quality area in the burn dialog. It will display values for Space Required and Bitrate. If the Bitrate is less than 8, the quality may be impacted because the program is having a problem fitting your content in the space required.  But, keep moving forward and hit Burn.
Next, play that back on your TV DVD player and see what that looks like. I have gotten some pretty great results taking a AVCHD 1920 x 1080 to DVD-VIDEO 720 x 480 Widescreen playback on TV DVD Player. More details on that later. By the way, Premiere Elements does not offer Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound for the export, just Dolby Digital Stereo. No Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound even for BluRay.
I will be watching to see how you do.

  • I'm having a problem importing AVCHD from Sony HDR-SR1 (into FCP)

I've gone through all of the posts, on this site, but I can't seem to find a solution.
I have one of the new Intel based mac pro boxes
The files are in a .mt2s format and they are currently sitting on my hard disk.
    - I can't import from the camera, directly, because it doesn't support firewire
    - FCP and iMovie both grey out files, with this extension, when trying to import them (as does MPEG Streamclip)
    - The log and transfer utility also shows the files greyed out (and nothing happens if I try to drag and drop them onto the utility)
    any assistance would be appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    John

My understanding was that you have to maintain the directory structure from the AVCHD source. Is the HDR-SR1 a supported camera?

  • Having Problems Importing Video From Camcorder ( Log and Transfer?)

    Hi everyone
Today i received my Canon HF11
    It records AVCHD format.
I'm pressing log and transfer, and it comes up, however when i press 'add to queue' it will be added, then an icon comes and spins for a few seconds, then it'll stop and turn into a red octagon with an exclamation mark in the middle
A few people have said 'Choosing plain stereo fixes it' - but it hasn't, and i've changed pretty much everything to 'apple intermediate codec.
I've done 'easy setup' and changed it to HD, FPS to all formats.. i'm trying to kind of match everything but it's not working for me
I have a 2.4Ghz Aluminium Macbook, With Final Cut Express 4.0 trying to import with AVCHD
    Please Help

Trash your preferences. They've probably been corrupted changing to the wrong format. There is only one correct setting that matches your media. Select that.

What computer is this? What version of the software? What drive is set as the scratch disc? How's it connected and formatted?

  • Problems importing AVCHD clips from Panasonic GF1

I'm having problems importing clips from my new Panasonic Gf1. FCE (4.0.1) sees the device ok, and selecting and previewing the clips in the log and transfer window works fine, but once the clips are in FCE (converted to AIC) they play fast in the viewer or when placed in the sequence. Strange, because they play fine in the preview window before importing. Tried this in iMovie 08 and get the same effect.
I'm can convert them Toast to AIC and they work fine when imported to FCE but this is not my preferred workflow.

I tried using Toast Titanium 10 for conversion as suggested but there was a slight issue with synch of video and audio. So I downloaded and bought Voltaic HD as suggested elsewhere and the AVCHD files of the Panasonic GF-1 are now playing in Final Cut Express 4 without issues - I am editing with no problem. Given that I can use the Log&Transfer Window (Final Cut 4) for my Olympus EP1 and my Panasonic HD video cam, it's odd that the files of the Panasonic GF-1 don't work in Final Cut (yet), but at least I am back editing. Voltaic HD was $35, a doable expense.... it does work flawless (so far).

  • IMovie freezes when importing AVCHD from Canon HF20

I've recently bought a *Canon HF20 AVCHD* Full HD camcorder, and am having a hard time importing the footage through iMovie '09. Here's exactly what happens:
    1. I connect the USB to the back port of the iMac. The camera indicates a flashing USB symbol and nothing else happens. It doesn't mount the camera drive and iMovie doesn't detect the camera.
    2. OK, so I connect the USB to a powered USB hub and it displays the correct message on the camera, mounts the camera drive and iMovie detects the camera is connected correctly.
    3. I tell iMovie to import the footage. After a while, the estimated time left begins to increase up to hours long, and the progress bar eventually stops, and iMovie freezes, whith the colored spinning wheel as the cursor.
Each time I try to import the footage, iMovie freezes at different points.
Does anyone else have this problem importing AVCHD footage into iMovie '09 ?
    Thanks in advance,
    João Faraco

Well, judging from the deafening response, posting this question here is pretty useless.

  • Imported AVCHD from canon hg10 looks distorted?

    Hi,
I import AVCHD from my canon hg10 with the correct setting, but once imported the footage is distorted.
Any ideas why I'm getting this problem?
The same footage imported to iMovie plays back fine, just in premiere pro CS5 it appears distorted.
Incase this is helpful, my set up is:
    - Mac Pro 8 Core
    - Apple LED Cinema Display 27"
    Thanks!

  • Problems importing connections from a SAN directory

Is anybody having a problem importing connections from a directory that's on a SAN?
My network is setup so that the Application Data directory is out on a SAN and when SQL Developer opens up the file dialog, current directory is listed as C:\ and entry in the file name field is file://<server>/<path to my stuff>/Application Data/SQL Developer/. This looks fine but when I click on the "Open" button to get the directory listing, an error dialog pops up with the following message:
The directory C:\file:\<server>\<path to my stuff>\Application Data\SQL Developer is not accessible. Please select a different directory.
When I change the current directory to the drive that maps the SAN location, I get the same message only with C: replaced with another drive letter.
If I had to guess, the dialog is not processing the file:// protocol indicator properly before it attempts to get the directory listing. Does anyone have a work around?

Other users also had problems with network shares, so you're right that might very well be the cause of your problems.
As workaround, try mapping the settings folder to a local drive. Add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
    AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=C:\sqldeveloperHope that helps,
    K.

  • Can't import AVCHD from Canon F10 into FinalCutPro 6.0.4 via USB

Can't import AVCHD from Canon F10 into FinalCutPro 6.0.4 via USB. When opening Log&Transfer in FCP, no files show up (the Log&Transfer window do not seem to recognize the files on the camera). The camera shows up in Finder, though. - Do I need a driver?

sorry, of course USB is available for L&T, I use it every Friday so I should know better, I got two replies mixed up completly so thanks for correcting my mistake.
what I meant to suggest was if the camera does not show in finder or in L&T check the camea menu setting is set to connect to the hard drive and not from the camera or memory card.

  • Problem Importing photos from camera to iPhoto

Help. For a while I had no problems importing photos from my camera now I get the following error message:- /private/var/folders/CC/CC5eraW2GGCddoAX3DUGjE+TM/-Tmp-/iPhoto/PICT1015.JPG
Does anyone know what this means? What I have done to my computer to cause this? and how to fix it. Thank you.

    Sam
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Launch Image Capture (in your Apps Folder) and use it to move the pics to the desktop. Then try import from there.
If that works, then use your camera to reformat your card, and see if that works in the future.

  • Problem Importing Music from

Hello, I just setup my network attached storage and I'm having problems importing music from it. I get a runtime error with CTImport.exe "abnormal program termination", nice and informati've (see below). I'm running MediaSource 3.30.2, the most recent version. I can add songs little by little, but anytime I try and import a bunch, I get the error. It's not the length of the pathname either, because I added the longest one individually, and it was fine.
I tried importing from a mapped dri've letter and from the network path directly, both have same problem. I also get the same error from the file sniffer built into MediaSource.
I'm actually running an external USB hard dri've that is attached to Linksys's Storage Link NLSU2 (or something). Don't know if that is the problem. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    <IMG src="http://www.dustinandalison.com/Ebay Pics/MediaSourceError.JPG">

Yes, I originally had all my songs on my local dri've. Anyway, it turned out to be a "corrupt" file. This file was fine in every other media player I had, but MediaSource couldn't do anything with it, not even play it (it was an unprotected .wma). I don't know if that song was originally imported while on the local dri've, but I deleted it and MediaSource imported everything fine.
It was a pain hunting that one song down.
    Thanks.

  • How to import AVCHD from Panasonic DMC-FT1?

    Hello everybody,
I just tried to import AVCHD Lite media files from a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 (also known as DMC-TS1) using an USB card reader and the log and transfer function.
A preview of the media files works, even the sound is ok.
When I mark the video for import it tries to import it, but if I click on the clip its status becomes a red {!}. An offered retry gives the same result.
Sometimes, especially after a preview of the media file, the log and transfer function crashes the whole FCE application.
    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards,
    Florian

OK, I tried tried this. No direct success but after changing settings I will try again.
I don't know your camera nor its terminology, what's the frame size and frame rate and audio format and sample rate?
Sorry - the technical documentation is not very good. Here is what I found out:
    1,280 x 720 pixels, AVCHD Lite (SH: 17 Mbps / H: 13 Mbps / L: 9 Mbps):
[NTSC] 60p *CCD output is 30p (fps).
[PAL] 50p *CCD output is 25p (fps).
Since I live in Germany I've got a PAL model.

    Thanks for the links!
(None was about Panasonic, but lots about import problems like mine.)
Is the audio set to plain stereo in log and transfer?
Yes, I chose "simple stereo" instead of "matrix stereo".
Maybe this is important: The camera has only one microphone. And it has a feature called "Dolby Digital Creator".
    Did you empty the cache?
I remember something like that. I'll try again.
What drive are you ingesting to? How is it formatted?
It's an external USB 2.0 hard drive. It's formatted with Mac OS Extended (Case senstive and journaled)
    Do you have Perian installed?
    No.
It's very possible this doesn't work with FCE, but it might, so if you give us as much information as you can maybe we can see something that can be adjusted to make this work.
Thanks a lot for your effort!
I see you're using a Mac mini. What are the full specs of that? It's going to be very borderline for editing video and some things in the application will not work.
2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM (3 GB usable)
Intel GMA 950 graphics using 64 MB RAM
    200 GB 7200rpm hard drive
1 TB USB 2.0 external hard drive
Looking at the simple configuration of FCE, none seems to really fit:
We have "AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec" but not with 1280x720.
We have "HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 720p25" but not with AVCHD.
And, of course, lots more. Which one should I choose?
    Thank you, again!
    Best regards,
    Florian

  • "mistake" sign when importing AVCHD from camera

    Dears!
Could anyone advice, what is the solution for the issue: with iMovie 09 I'm trying to import AVCHD films from Sony HDR C11. The program sees the films and even can play them (in import window). The import process starts and continues for the while, after that (when the import has been finished) it shows the mistake sign below the clip. During the process iMovie creates all theneded files in events folder and even the final .mov file appeares, but only till th end of the import process - afterwards the .mov disappeares...
I really feel it should be quite an easy soltion (some time ago with iMovie 08 I succeded sevsral times to do that), but I cant find it...
    thanx in advance...

    Jim thanx for attempts))
Well if you can imagine the window that shows the process of importing, - there are clips on the bottom (where you check choosing what to import) and a big screen on the top where you can watch a clip... After you chose (checked) the clip, you push the "import" button and the process starts... Below the importing clip you see the progress line... It runs to the end and then after the import of the clip is finished, a sign "Mistake" (it is in russian.. probably in english it would be written with some other word..) appears below the clip...
