  • Got problems when converting video to 640*480 m4v

guys, I got compatibility issues when convert videos to 640*480 h264 m4v.
I tried MepgStreamclip, and the export to mp4 quicktime mov in Quicktime. ALL FAILED.
I followed all these 1.5mbps, 640*480, aac-lc requirements when did the conversion. However, my ipod will not recognize of the files.
I have also noticed that the "Export to Ipod" preset in Quicktime has been changed to 640*480. BUT, what keeps annoying me is the preset is so idiotic!! It ignores the source bps and simply converts everything to 1.5mbps. I got 25mb file after conversion as the source file is 11mb.
Could anyone kindly point out the Right procedure to convert video to ipod format Manually...... I want to have full control when I am doing this.
    thanks a lot

    any suggestions?

  • Problems importing PPT videos into iMovie

    Hello -
I consider myself a pretty computer literate person, but I'm afraid I'm stumped with my current problem.
I need to import a Power Point Presentation into iMovie so I can record video of myself speaking over the presentation. I found many bits of helpful advice about how to do this. Apparently, the steps should be as follows:
    1) Time out your PPT presentation as needed.
    2) Save the PPT presentation as a movie (MOV) file.
    3) Convert the file into a format iMovie can read with a converter like MPEG Streamclip or MacX Free iMovie Video Converter.
    4) Import the new file into iMovie.
All sounds good, but I have a problem with step 3. After the file has been converted, the resulting video cuts off the first slide and the time it should have taken. This happens with both the converters (listed above) I tried. So, I thought I would just add some time to the PPT presentation and it would be ok, but the same things happens even when I add a minute at the beginning of the video.
I checked the original PPT video file and it looks to be the correct lenght, but the converted versions cut off the beginning of the video.
This is quite odd and I'm stumped. Any ideas would be very welcome.
    Thanks!
    Kyle

  • Importing/Converting video?

    'Morning,
I have a video I can't seem to import to Itunes. I have it saved as ".smv" and also ".AVI" When I try to add it from the Itunes menu item "add to library" I tunes sees them, and when I click on it, the hard drive goes to it, but it's not imported (or I can't find it) and there is no message from Itunes.
I was expecting Itunes to either convert it to a different format, and add it to the library, or give me a message saying it could not. What's going on?
    Thanks,
    Steve

IFO files are not the video data files at all nor are the BUP files.
Search here to read about how to convert VOB files using iSquint or MPEG Streamclip. This question asked daily here and in iPod 5G forums gets boring to answer for people who haven't even tried to do research.
The question about best format depends on what you want to do with the video- if you want to watch it- use the original DVD with the DVD player. Shrink it to Quicktime, use iSquint or similar products. Watch it without the DVD because you had to return it to Blockbuster, well you really shouldn't steal video, etc. It depends on the end use.

  • Problems importing a Video

Hallo! I want to put a video(wich i can see with Quick time player) on my ipod and for that I tried to import it to itunes but when i try too import it it comes an error wich says it is an unknown error and on the end (-50. I dont know what that means. maybe I am doing something wrong. please somebody explain me how I can import videos to itunes.

Could be a number of things but most likely if it works on your local machine but not on the server, it's a pathing issue. So you have all your flash related files in the same folder, correct? But are they all in the same folder as the web page? They do not have to be, any of the Flash related files can be in whatever folders you want, just remember to path the elements relative to the Web page, NOT the physical location of the Flash file. From an old post:
    Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do not have to be in the root. But if sticking them in there worked, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths become relative to the Web page on which those Flash files are used. So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, etc), the path used inside the .swf to the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the files wherever you want.

  • Problems importing .mov video from a zoom q3HD shot at 1280x720, H.264

FCP wont allow me to import my file. I use the zoom q3HD and shot @ 1280 x 720.
The codecs are h.264, Linear PCM.
    Can anyone help me.
I was told first I have to convert to PRO RES to edit as h.264 is bad for this...
    any help would be huge!
    Its a wedding.
    Thanks

Specifically, the file is 1280 x 720- Dimensions
    Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM
    2 audio channels
    60 Frames per second
    .MOV
I was able to load directly from the same camera without a problem :
    1920 x 1080
    H.2c4, Linear PCM
    2 audio channels
    30 frames per second.
    .MOV
So, i guess the camera is supported but just not at 60 frames per second settings? ? ?
any good conversion ideas? and why the highest hd setting imports ok?

  • Problems importing VHS video via Canopus ADVC110

OK, I can't figure out how best to do this. I picked up a Canopus ADVC110 converter box to aid in digitizing a stack of VHS tapes. Yesterday I performed a short (1 minute) trial run and was unsatisfied with the results.
I imported the footage into iMovie '08, then tried burning a DVD of the clip iDVD. The result looked noticeably worse than the original tape. I'd settle for near quality, but this showed heavy compression, darker and grainier image, etc. I tried burning both "medium" and "large" versions that were sent to the Media Browser. Same result. I even tried exporting the project as a Quicktime DV stream and burning a DVD using Toast Titanium 9. No difference.
Now, the video preview inside iMovie seems to look OK, but then again it's hard to compare what I'm seeing there with the finished DVD video that I watch on my 13" television. I'm thinking that something is going haywire in the export and DVD-burning phase, though I may be way off on that one.
In any case, I'd love to hear from anyone who is attempting to do similar transfers and how they achieved the best-looking results. I'm merely trying to whittle down my collection of VHS tapes, but if the transfer quality can't be improved I'm kind of stuck...
Oh, I also own FCP Express 4, and am wondering if that might produce a better import? I have no idea.
Any advice or comments from past experience would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    David

I imported the footage into iMovie '08, then tried burning a DVD
Use iMovie 06 not iMovie 08.
For interlaced video such as DV and 1080i HDV, iMovie 08 now uses single-field processing. This means every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage.
If your primary workflow is editing DV clips and making DVDs, iMovie '06 is better suited. Your movie will arrive at iDVD in DV format, which is an ideal match for making a DVD: same resolution, same pixels aspect ratio, and original quality. If you share your movie from iMovie '08, it gets re-rendered at 640x480 or less, and then iDVD upscales it back to 720x480. The end result is obviously not as good.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 is the best combination. Use Professional Quality in iDVD 08.
When I use iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 I get excellent results.
I use the Canopus ADVC300 because it comes with a nice Macintosh application that works flawlessly with iMovie 06. The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material.
The Web site below has a good comparison of Apple video products.

iMovie 06 is a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)

  • Problems Importing Complete Video in DVD Studio Pro

I have video that I edited in Final Cut Pro and exported as a QuickTime file (.mov), with chapter markers. I checked the video in QuickTime player and all my chapter markers were present, and the entire video played through the end. The whole movie is 52 minutes in length. However, two problems have arisen once the video was imported into DVD Studio Pro.
    1. All my chapter markers disappeared.
    2. The entire audio track is present and will play through the end of the movie, but the video cuts off more than 6 minutes before the end of the movie.
I have tried several options to get this video to import correctly. Sometimes the chapter markers remain, but I can never get the video track to import completely. I would greatly appreciate any advice, as this has become very frustrating. Thank you.

Since my last post, I have tried importing a couple different versions of the video file. One attempt included chopping the video file into 2 parts and exporting them two separate .mov files from FCP. I then tried to insert them into the track editor as separate entities that played back-to-back. This led me to the discovery that DVDSP will not let me have a video track that plays any longer than 00:45:58:21. Why this is, I do not know, but I am convinced this problem lies within DVDSP, not in the video file. Is there a setting somewhere that limits the length of a video?

I converted a video into ipod format by 2 diff software. They seem to have converted correctly as I can play them in apple quicktime. I tried to bring them into itunes for sync, but can't bring them. I tried dragging into movies, tried import, tried add files. Non of them working. Can anybody help me in this, ho can I bring the file into itunes? I am using itune 7, should I go back to old ver (6.x..)?

I just converted some TV shows with iSquint, and drug them over to movies and presto they were there... I then when into Info, changed them to TV shows and they moved over to TV Shows.
    It works.

Go download Handbrake and convert it to an iTunes/iPod friendly file ( I recommend the Apple Universal default).
