Problem importing Flash .swf animation

When I tried to import a Flash CS4 animation into captivate,
i get a message saying something about "actionscript references
root" and the animation might not play back correctly. When i
publish the captivate project, the animation just loops
continously. Any ways around this?

Try fixing the FLA doesn't reference root. Also make sure the
Loop option is
not selected in FLA options.

  • Does Keynote Import Flash SWF Files?

    Hello,
I do a lot of presentations and I often need to import Flash SWF files and play them inside my presentation. I currently do this on Windows with PowerPoint.
Does Keynote '09 import Flash SWF files?
    Thanks!

Alas I don't see that option — having said that I looked at mime types and legacy encoders and nada, but oddly when I went to check the QT version (7.6 by the way) in the "About Quicktime" (accessed via the *System Preferences*) it cycles thru various codecs and "Macromedia Flash Player" is one of them... guess it doesn't access anymore. :o(

  • Troubles importing Flash 10 Animation with 3D Transform

I am looking for any workaround/experiences for importing a Flash 10 animation with 3D transforms. Currently, doing this will wig out Captivate 4 and break the embedded animation in all sorts of ways. AS3 support in Captivate is turned on and the same animation will load and play correctly if the 3D transform is removed. All other Flash 10/AS3 possibilites work including motiosn graphs and filters.
I find the 3D transform option of Flash CS4 to be one of the most powerful features ever introduced in Flash and would allow some incredible breakthrough design possibilities for my Captivate projects, if it would just support it! Any experiences with this issue welcomed. A bug report has been submitted also, but looking for a quicker remedy.

    Problem Resolved!
I got this tip from Vikram (Adobe Support)
    1. Open your project having Flash Player 10 animations involving 3D transforms.
    2. Click the Edit menu and select Preferences.
    3. Select "Publish settings" under the "Project" section.
    4. Check "Animations" option under the "Externalize resources" section.
    5. Press OK.
    6. Now click the publish button.
    7. In the publish dialog, select Flash Player 10 from the "Flash Player version:" drop down.
    8. Click publish.
(F4 preview may not work, so use preview in browser)
Also, you may need to be wary of embedded scripted symbols as they may loose reference to the parent symbol after being embedded in yoru your CP4 project containing 3D transforms. My advice here is to try to script using as much object oriented js as possible in the main timeframe.
I am using a combination of localConnect and ExternalInterface functions to control the 3D animation from captivate quiz buttons. This process adds a whole new level of interactivity and visual interest to your captivates!

  • Importing Flash (.swf) to Keynote

    Hi all,
I am working in Keynote '08 (4.0.2) and have Quicktime 7.4.1 (14) installed. I need to import a Flash (.swf) file and play it in Keynote. Even though the online help says this: "You can also add video or Flash movies that play within a slide. For Flash to work with QuickTime 7.1.3 and later, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click QuickTime, click Advanced, and select Enable Flash." Keynote 4.0.2 does not accept .swf files (they are grayed out) and Quicktime 7.4.1 cannot play an .swf (This is not a movie file). Should I unistall QT 7.4.1 and install a previous QT version? Can Apple fix this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for your quick response. Perian helps with Flash video but as far as I can tell it does not help with swf format. I have an actionscript loaded flash file that cannot be converted to MPEG-4. If you are indeed correct and Apple no longer supports swf with QT then I want my money back for iWork. It clearly states in their manual/help that users can import swf files and play them in Keynote. What a rip-off.
Is there a way to unistall QT 7.4.5?
    Thanks.

  • Is this possible - Import Flash swf which then imports an external swf

    Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to (as the title says) to import an swf which itself imports an external swf?
Explanation - I've got an scrollbar created in flash...and to keep it tidy i've created the scroll 'content' as another swf which is imported into  the scrollbar swf.
Whenever i publish/render the project the scroll bar appears but the content does not.
Is it possible to do this?
Captivate > imports flash > which imports external swf

    Craig.

Yes that shouldn't be a problem at all. You probably won't be able to see it working when you preview the project from within Captivate but if you publish it and manually copy/paste the external swf to the publish directory, it should work just fine.

  • Importing Flash swf

    Hello,
I'm as new as it comes to Captivate. From what I've researched and seen, Captivate looks like an interactive Powerpoint that captures scores, answers, and responses, etc.
Right now, I'm looking for an authoring program to help me use some of those abilities -- but also host the main interactivity that I've built into a flash swf.
Before I go off and start programming, is it possible to embed a fully interactive .swf into Captivate -- or is this the wrong use and I should be attempting to rebuild that in Captivate? The program I'm going to build in Flash includes a time slider with simultaneous videos and animation.
Are time sliders possible in Captivate? (A scrubbing bar back and forth)
    Thanks for your time.
    Kristin

Everything you speak of is possible in Captivate, and it certainly does allow you to import SWFs created in AS3.
Whether or not your program will work well with Captivate depends a lot on your programming abilities and how well you understand the Captivate architecture so that your app integrates well with it.
It might be wise to consider building your app as a Captivate widget.

  • Imported AS3 swf animation not looping

I have tried all of the settings in Captivate 5.5 but can't keep my animation looping and not sure why.
I've imported an AS3 swf animation (just a simple movieclip animation of a blinking line) into Captivate 5.5. I placed the animation at the end of the timeline on the slide, and want the blinking line to stay there and continue to blink (i.e., animate) even after the slide has come to the end of the timeline.
I've tried everything I can think of. I assumed that checking the "Loop" setting in Captivate for the animation would do it, but it seems to have no effect.
I am pretty sure what is happening is that the click box on the Cp slide is forcing the animation to pause. In other words, the imported animation's timeline is being forced to pause too. Is there a way to stop this?
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
Try inserting a Click Box that pauses the slide about half a second before the end of the animation on the Timeline.

  • Importing flash as3 animation: stop commands are ignored in Captivate

I have created a Flash animation in Flash CS5 which has some interactive buttons to go to frames and then stop. The problem is Captivate seems to ignore the stop commands.
When I preview in Flash it works fine, when I preview in Captivate it just keeps on going.
I can't use a click box because I need the user to click one of my interactive buttons to then continue to the nect part of the animation.
I am not a programmer and have just started using Adobe CS5 master edition.
I can add bits of actionscript provided I know how and where :-)
all help for a a dumbo newbie appreciated.....

If your Flash animations are published as AS3, make sure your Captivate movie is also set to publish as AS3 in the Preferences.
    Does that do anything?

  • Problem Importing Flash Movie

I exported a animation I made in flash CS3 to quicktime but for some reason when I import it to Motion, it only imports about half the clip and then it just cuts off. I also cannot change the duration of the clip in motion.

OK, open it up in QT Player and do the get info and see what FPS it says the movie is at. I'm guessing it will say less than 30 FPS, but let us know.
I had this bug where QT movies created in Compressor 3 brought back into Motion would do this same thing and the QT Player told me that those movies had FPS of 19 or 12, etc, and not the 29.97 they should have had.
If you are able to export it out as Animation codec 100% quality from Flash, you should be able to now take it directly into FCP and then export it as a QT movie from FCP. Don't send it to Motion from FCP, export it out of FCP as a QT movie with Animation codec 100%. After that, check to see what the FPS is. Hopefully, FCP will export it out properly and you should be able to then import it into Motion.
What I'm trying to do is get another application to take that QT movie and export it out to see if it can fix the movie.

  • Putting a flash (swf) animation into iWeb

A similar question was asked previously -- how to put a Flash file into an iWeb site.
The answer --- which apparently works starts like this --- 1) Open your iDisk and open the "Web" folder. Inside of that, open the "Sites" folder. >>>
My problem is, I don't have an "iDisk." I actually have 7 different "Web" folders on my system. And he only time "iDisk" appears on a search related to "classic application."
Can someone tell me where to find the right folder?

I have found that IDisk is for .mac members -- I am one.
How do I access my iDisk?

  • Flash SWF Anim

    Help!
I'm new to RoboHelp and to Flash MX 2004, and I'm trying to
get an animation to play once in RoboHelp 6 and stop! Does anybody
    have any suggestions?

    Hi all
While it would have been nice for K. Niemeyer, Author to
advise of what exactly they did to resolve their issue, I'm
guessing that whatever it was, was done using Flash MX 2004 and had
nothing whatsoever to do with RoboHelp. There is no way I'm aware
of that a Flash animation loop can be controlled from RoboHelp.

  • Problems in using Flash swf in captivate 5

    Hi,
I am using captivate 5 and in that for a project I created some flash animation in flash cs4 and using the swf output file in captivate.
    So the problem is this:
When I publish the project and try playing the project(exe/html output), those flash swf animations are not playing properly or not at all playing.
There are around 40-50 slides in captivate and around 90% of those files contain flash swf animation. Some of the animations are playing and some are not.
In flash cs4 the action script version is 3 and also I tried publishing the project in both flash player 9 and 10 but still some animations are not playing. Its random.
Any fix for that? Its urgent.
    Thanks in advance.

There's a known issue with the way Captivate 5 loads SWFs.  If the animation is not all on the main timeline level of the SWF, but the animation has been placed inside a symbol, Captivate triggers the animations to play when the SWF is loaded right at the beginning of the movie instead of making them play only on the slide where the SWF should play.  This means that by the time your movie gets to the slide in question, the animation has already finished playing, and it looks to you like it won't play, when in fact it already HAS played.
This issue only affects SWFs with animation inside symbols, which is unfortunately the way most Flash animation designers are taught to create them.  It can be fixed via some AS3 code inside the SWF, but this is only possible if you have access to the FLA files used to create the SWF, and you know how to use Flash.

  • Imported interactive SWF jumping ahead

    Hello,
I imported a SWF into Captivate. The SWF is a mini-instructional module with it's own Next and Back buttons and its own menu of topics. The Captivate is a course I'm building. I had a developer create this SWF to prevent my having to produce every new concept on it's own slide (the project was getting waaaaayy too slide heavy).
The problem is that the SWF works fine on it's own -- the SWF 'screens' don't advance until the user clicks the appropriate button on the SWF --- BUT when imported to Cp and previewed, the SWF's first screen jumps to the next screen without the user's input. Understand this is the SWF jumping ahead, not the Cp slide that it resides in. (when I imported the SWF, the thumbnail in the selection/dialogue box even jumped ahead)
What gives? Can anyone tell us how to fix this?
    Thanks!

Misnomer17 here...Ed, a Flash developer on staff, solved the problem! Here it is for all to reference:
    Problem:
My flash swf that I imported into Captivate does not function properly. On the first frame of the timeline, I have a stop function that pauses the swf. I also have a button that allows the swf to continue playing when clicked until the next stop function occurs. However, when captivate plays this swf, the swf automatically skips and goes straight to the next stop function. How do I avoid this error?
    Solution:
Captivate does not like the stop function on the main timeline of the Flash/swf.  In Flash, clear out the main timeline by placing all your items from the main timeline into another movie clip (including the action script).  Drag your new movie clip onto the main timeline. Export to swf. Test out your new swf in Captivate.

  • Huge problems importing CS5 Flash SWFs to After Effects

It seems that anytime I include text into my Flash file in CS5, I am alerted that the text layout has been exported to an external file,  at which point it will not be imported correctly with any animation in After Effects.  I've read that this has something to do with the new CS5 TLF mode.
What is the work around with this?  All other versions of Flash imports my swfs flashlessly, why is CS5 so difficult to?
I posted this on the Flash forums six months ago, and the post was completely ignored.  I even bumped it up a couple times.  I'm going to see if maybe the AE forums may have an idea about this.

I'm not too savvy on TLF but Adobe implemented it as an option to allow multi-column layouts in Flash which would be compatible
    better with InDesign workflows (Import/Export).
What you can do is make sure your text is set to Classic Text for all of your text fields unless you have a need to use TLF.
But I'm sure someone else will chime in with the correct response to this issue as there are times when you cannot do without TLF and you will still want to export to AE.
