Problem importing mp3s in projects

I down loaded some mp3 backing tracks, created projects with them in GB on my MacBook, and imported them into my iPad with no problems. I have other backing tracks created either from midis I have down loaded or created with music notation programs. I tried converting them to mp3s so I could do the same thing. However, when I attempt to import them into GB on my iPad, I get and error message to the effect that the mp3 is damaged. I have made the conversion both with GB on the MacBook and with music notation programs, and everything works fine on the MacBook, I just can't get them into my iPad.

You can't use mp3 format files in GarageBand for iOS projects...
Adding audio sample to GarageBand
Connect the device, select it in the left-hand column, open the Apps tab, scroll down to File Sharing, select GarageBand, add files with the button or drag and drop onto the file area. Files should be uncompressed audio in AIFF, WAV, CAF or Apple Loops format at 16bit, 44.1 kHz.
Macloops is a potential source of new loops, no doubt there are others, and you can roll your own...
Insert audio sample into song
Open song in GarageBand for iOS, if needed switch to Tracks view or stop if playing, use the loops tool, audio files section, to insert your audio...

  • Problems importing .mp3 files to itunes

I'm having problems importing .mp3 files to itunes, it's importing the song name tage with "artist - song title" when it should just be the song title?

    Chad,
Glad to hear that Steve's script was helpful.
As to the bug, I don't know.  The problem you report is not common.  Usually when iTunes displays artist-title in the Name field, it is either an untagged MP3 or a WAV file, but in those cases it does not correct itself when you give it a kick.  Between that and the non-refresh problem you report, I think there is something else going on besides a tagging issue.  At your convenience, you may want to reinstall the newest iTunes, and see if it helps.
    Anyway, enjoy the music!

  • Problem importing adobe premiere project into After effects CS6

I've been working in Adobe's premiere and after effects for quite a few years now and this problem is new to me.
I'm working on a project in After Effects CS6 and want to import a premiere pro project into After Effects. I go -> File -> import -> adobe premiere project
    Select project
    Select sequence
Now After Effects CS6 imports all files from the premiere pro project like before in CS5, but now also imports the videofiles as sequences at the root in my project panel and messes everything up. Before it usually imported nice and tidy with the same folder structure as the premiere pro project would have.
But that isn't the main problem. When i open the sequence i wanted to import and work on, some clips have been shortened down to 1 FRAME LONG  at the end. These clips have a 500% speed  in premiere pro, but this has never been a problem before, after effects has always before been able to translate the speed variations in clips from premiere -> after effects.
The adobe premiere project that was imported is a 60 sec promo with various clips in various formats (Gopro h264, dv pal quicktime etc). Footage not exceeding the fair amount that after effects should handle. 15-20 videfiles at 30 sec each.
I've never had this problem before with premiere <-> after effects.
    Anyone?

    I just found the solution!
In my adobe premiere project that i was trying to import, some of the clips were "right clicked" and applied "Scale to frame size"
Every videoclip that had "scale to frame size" in my adobe premiere pro sequence would import as its own composition in After Effects rather than just a videofile, and some of the clips would be trimmed down to be invisible.
So if you have any problem with a clip not importing correctly into a sequence in after effects, check to make sure "scale to frame size" is not applied to the clip in premiere pro.
I removed the scale to frame size in the premiere project and now everything imports fine into after effects.
    Sorry for the post.

  • Problem import to "New project" in 3.1.2?

After update to 3.1.2 import to "New Project" has started to show unexpected behaviour. Some pictures won't show in one project.
Ex import creates two new projects"apr 23, 2011" and "apr 24, 2011". apr 23 shows all photos as it should. arp 24 do not show any photos. If I hover the mouse over the apr 24 project it indicates that there are "2 Versions" there should be 7 Versions?
Both projects are in an Album structure "2011->April". When I select the whole album "April" I see the "missing" photos.
I can create a new project and move the photos to it. That works.
Anyone seen this in 3.1.2? It may be in older versions as well - but I just recently started noticing this.
    /regards Roger

It could've been. I'm not very satisfied with how "Automatically split" correlates the date of the image with the date of the project. Oftentimes the last couple of pictures of the day (and not really late at that) gets assigned to the next day, and more often the first pictures of the next day gets sorted into the previous days project.
I'm using iPhone and a couple of Canons. And I have checked the time on all of them recently as we changed to "Daylight Savings Time" not long ago. But I would have thought that that only would affect pictures taken around midnight, give or take an hour. And even so I'm only off GMT by an hour or two. Not many of my photos gets taken between 2200 and 0200 :-)
But for the last incident I'm quite sure it has little to do with time as those photos that didn't show as expected were shot in the afternoon.
And further clarify - during import I saw the photos under the correct date/project, blue tickbox and all. ANd they got imported into Aperture. Only they fail to be visible when I select the project where they were supposed to go. On one occasion they re-appeared after re-start of the application. But on another (other photos/in another project) did not. And re-start Aperture after import just to continue to work is not a good workflow for me ...

  • Problems Importing Premiere Pro Project into After Effects

I've got my first Pemiere Pro CS6 project completed. Now i want to import it into After Effects CS6 to add titles.
The PR file includes two segments, two still photos and two AE compositions. I am trying to import the PR project into AE two different ways:
    1. File>Import> Adobe Dynamic Link>Adobe Premier Project. When I do this, the project looks great in the Footage tab of the RAM preview window on the right. But when I make a new sequence to get it on the Timeline so that I can begin to add titles, I get only  blackness in the Comp tab of the ram preview window whether I am playing a RAM preview or a spacebar preview.
    2. File>Import> Adobe Premier Project. When I do this, the two AE segments are missing.
I am on an iMac with OSX.7.4.
Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to do this?
    Thanks!

You will need to render out those two AE compositions to video before you can bring them back into AE through dynamic link.  If you are concerned with making changes, you can always replace footage in Premiere with a new render.
Dynamic Link is just not designed with your workflow -- AE doesn't open multiple projects at one time, and your workflow ends up with AE trying to open 3.
You can bring those two compositions into AE as imports.  They won't be linked together (so any changes in original project will not reflect in imported version) but you would have all 4 elements in one AE project.

  • Problems importing mp3's

I'm hoping to import mp3 from my itunes library into Logic.
But whenever I push import and go to Application it's not activating the itunes icon.
For the purpose of practicing I want to import music and alter the tempo but not the pitch.
    Thanks for your help

you can't import the itunes application itself, you have to browse to the actual MP3 file (or whatever it's format is).
open your itunes application, ctrl-click on the file and select 'reveal in finder' you can then see exactly where the file is located.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem importing mp3 from desktop

I go into iTunes and "Import" but nothing happens. Ive tried dragging into iTunes as well and nothing. Not sure what else i can do.
any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks.

To 'import' an MP3 file, you have to use the 'Add to Library...' command from the File menu.
This article explains the differences between importing and adding:
iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and Convert functions
Alternatively, you can drop an MP3 on the iTunes icon in the Dock or drop it on the Library icon in the Source pane of iTunes or drop it on the Library in iTunes (the Library must be selected)
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem Importing Topics Between Projects

This has fast become my new favorite place!
    Ok, here's the scoop:
We had RoboHelp x5 and just moved to RoboHelp 8 a month or so ago. Shortly after the conversion, we copied all of our topics from our original project into a new project for a new product we're rolling out later this year.  The products are similar, but the names of screens and windows are different, so when a new topic is created, slightly different versions need to be created for each. I thought instead of manually changing each topic I could create the topic in one project, then open the other project, import it, and change the template to match the color scheme for the other product and be done with it.
But somehow my doing this caused almost all of the nearly 3000 topics to become "not controlled" in RoboSource Control, affecting myself and 5 other developers. What about the import would cause this to happen and is there a way to prevent this?
I was hoping that for each change we could just change one, import to the other and call it a day instead of having to manually do it twice. Is there a secret way of doing this that doesn't break the system and irritate my co-workers?
    Thanks,
    WD

    Hi Leon
I know you have researched and you know and share what files should and should not be part of source control, that part is cool.
What is curious to me though is that if the CPD were machine specific, why do things just work if you copy a project from one folder to another on a different PC. I would think if that were the case, the project would refuse to open an operate on the second PC or even in a different folder on the same PC.
    Cheers... Rick

  • CS4 problem when importing older CS3 Project, mismatched edits

I am trying to import a CS3 project into CS4 and for some reason some of the edits don't match up. It's only in some parts, most of it is fine. I really want to be able to use the new Media Encoder so I can make a DVD from the CS3 project (I was unable to do this in CS3 + older Media Encoder because it would always crash on my long length project).
I also tried bypassing Premiere CS4 by using the Media Encoder CS4 standalone project import option and selected the CS3 project and then the sequences....I scrubbed through the player and the same edits are mismatched/incorrect.
If I go back to the project in the older CS3, all edits are fine...but of course I can't export a MPEG for DVD because CS3's exports crash.
    What is the deal?
If it matters, I am using 720p P2 footage.

Well I'm interested in this thread because I'm having a similar problem importing CS2 projects - audio filters are screwy, especially EQ.
I can't finish this project in CS2 for several reasons.
I can't seem to convert every project CS2 project -- some work, some do not. Missing preview files, probably. I know that CS4 conversions hanging are a separate documented issue.
So I'm trying to import projects instead. Everything looks all right but everything does not SOUND all right.

  • I am having problems using mov files imported into a project. I get the message "Not rendered" in the Canvas and clip won't play. Can anyone help?

I am having problems using mov files imported into a project. I get the message "Not rendered" in the Canvas and clip won't play. Can anyone help?

When clips won't play without rendering in the Timeline, it usually means that the clip's specs don't match the Sequence settings.
A .mov file could be made from any number of codecs; the QuickTime Movie designation is merely a container for video files of all kinds.  Since FCE only works with the QuickTime DV codec and the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) natively, if your mov files aren't one of those two, you need to convert them PRIOR to importing into your FCE project.

  • Problems importing Aperture 2 archived projects into Aperture 3

Any suggestions please I want to import some archived projects from aperture 2 back into Aperture 3 from an external dive the projects are in folders named xxxx.approject. Aperture 3 sees the folders but the images are contained in separate folders within so for a project that has 600 images in it imports them all in individual folders which is a complete nightmare to sort out. Am I doing something wrong here or is this the way Aperture 2 exported projects? Any help would be appreciated.

It should work. Just try it.

  • Unable to import MP3s sometimes

I have GB4 with the latest updates (I guess that makes it GB 4.1 then) and I've noticed that I can't import MP3s sometimes. I can't figure out why, other than to conclude that it's a bug.
I can actually import any MP3 ok, be it from the filesystem or or from the browser within GB. It shows a progress bar, and also another saying "converting" I think, before adding the track. After it is imported, I can play it and such. I can also look inside of the bundle and see that there is a .aif version of the MP3 in the Media directory. So, it all sounds good so far.
Well, the problem starts as soon as I Save the project. As soon as I do that, the corresponding .aif file is deleted from inside the media directory, in the project's bundle. However, if I keep working, the track continues to play fine. The problem only is noticeable if I close the project, or quit, and try to open it again. When I do that, sure enough, GB complains that it can't find the corresponding .AIF file, and prompts with a dialog asking if I want to "skip" or "search"
Choosing either option of course, makes no difference. the end result is that the project opens, and there is a "file not found" label on the segment pertaining to that imported track. So, that in turn means when you try and play, that track won't be heard, as it has no file associated with it.
The odd thing, is that some MP3 files do seem to import ok. Oh, and before you ask, they all are mp3's with the lowercase .mp3 extension. I can always tell if it does, because the progress bar is much shorter, and as far as I can tell, it's actually skipping the "conversion" step. How a good file is represented in the media folder is that you have the actual MP3 file added, along with another file with the same name, but with a .oww extension. I don't know what this file is for. However, if a file is imported in this manner, when I Save the project, sure enough, both the MP3 and the .oww file are not erased from the media directory. And of course, if I reopen the project, it is able to open that track successfully.
So, I'm at a loss. I know that all imported files must be 44 Khz files, and as far as I can tell, both the ones that seem to work and fail, are 44 KHz files. I thinkt the one that did work correcly did have a higher bit rate than some others, at 160 Kib/s, but I doubt that the bit rate makes any difference.
I haven't tried converting the ones that don't "stick" by converting to AIF manually and importing the AIF to see if it sticks, but I would guess it would. I think all hte AACs that I've tried importing always work, so as far as I know so far, it's only a problem with MP3 files.
Another thing worth noting, I'm using a network level account, that isn't an admin account. Also, my home directory resides on an NFS share, that's mounted at boot time, but a network share shouldn't matter. But I was thinking that maybe there's a bug that may be exacerbated when using this feature as a non-admin account.
So, GB devs/Apple support, if you're reading this, I urge you to test your products with non-admin users and network accounts, such as mine. I have been using OSX in this configuration since 10.0, and over the years I have seen software that has made some bad assumptions of applications location, home directory location, HFS filesystem, etc. So, I urge you to test your software with these configurations as well, as people like me do have these setups, however rare they may be.

One thing I forgot to add. When importing an MP3 that won't work, I do see lines logged in console.log that say "Unsupported MP3 file" So, apparently that means that some MP3 files are unsupported, but really if that were the case, why would it even allow me to import it in the first place? If it were really unsupported, shouldn't it produce a dialog saying such, and cancel the import process? As it is, it's far worse, since it's importing it, so you think it's compatible. Then next time you open the project you realize it silently deleted that import.

  • Aperture 3 Importing Folders as Projects is taking days to complete

    Hello,
I acquired Aperture 3 a week ago and decided to give it a try. I've been using Lightroom since version 1. All my photos are in NEF (Nikon RAW) format and stored on an External HD. I used the A3 option FILE > IMPORT > FOLDERS AS PROJECTS command and selected folders from year 2008, 2009, 2010...this are 109 folders (13401 photos) from a total of 348 from year 2003 to date, meaning I am importing a fraction of all photos.
A very important note: I use the import option "Store Files: In their current location"...so that A3 is not moving, copying and so on, any files - it's just referencing them.
The problem starts here - it took Aperture 3 almost 24 hours to complete the "import"...i.e. to fill all the Projects with the corresponding photos. But the IMPORT PROCESS continues forever, today is day 4...the Aperture Library on this has grown to 18 GB and still growing. There is small but constant Hard Disk activity between the External HD with the Photos and the internal HD with the Library.
If I try to quit Aperture I get a message box:
+"Do you want to continue importing? Aperture is currently importing files. If you quit, the import task will be canceled and any files that have not been fully imported will be removed. | Quit | Continue |"+
How much longer shall I wait? Is it really importing or is this a bug? Why is there no progress bar or counter to give an estimate or idea of what is going on?
Just as reference: I imported the same folders (109) into Lightroom 3 Beta with the option "Store Files: In their current location" and it took only 1-2 hours.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kostadin

    Kostadin,
I'm noticing same thing today. This morning I imported about 100 Canon 7D RAW images from my memory card, which took about 5 minutes upon which I got the "Delete Images and Eject Card?" dialog. I accepted and removed the card.
4 hours later, I still have a "Importing..." spinning ball on Aperture. For the first couple of hours, I was trying to send emails with a few images and it would take 20 minutes for Aperture to generate the JPEG in the email. Now it only takes 10-15 seconds. BUt it is still "importing". So aperture continues to function, but it has some process going which keeps my CPU fans running on the MacBook Pro.
I am anxious to see just how long it takes to IMPORT... after it finishes importing.
What's it doing for this long?
    Jim

  • Import Files as Projects makes other projects disappear

    Hi,
I'm new to these forums and new to Aperture. I would really like some help with this issue. I have searched the forums and while I've found one other post with the exact problem no one has posted an answer...I hope for better results.
I work in IT so I am pretty savvy, as such I will try to explain the issue as thoroughly as possible.
ISSUE: I have created Folders at the root level of my Aperture Library. Inside those Folders I have imported pictures with the standard import method, and as expected it has created projects for each import. After realizing that I could import "Files as projects" I tried that option. I had about 9 projects in the folder and after importing "Files as projects" for several new folders I was left with only a few new projects and several of my existing projects were gone. If I click on the folder that contains the projects all the pictures are still there, but the organization of having them in their individual projects was lost.
At this point I started over. Rather than taking the time to import one folder at a time, I decided to try the "Import Folders as Projects" option from the start. I had about 17 folders I was importing and after getting the successful import message I was left with only 8 projects, rather than 17 as expected for each of the folders imported. However, once again, ALL the pictures where there in the root folder.
I tried a third time. I wiped the library clean and started over and I got the same results.
Once again, I'm a new aperture user and I would like to transfer my MANY pictures into Aperture but If I have to import 1 folder at a time then it will take me months. Also I'm not too confident with the Library structure as I don't know if this is a corruption in the Library or another issue. It makes me worried that months down the line when I have all my pictures in aperture I will have to start all over.
Visual of the way I'm trying to organize (Of course there are MANY more projects in each folder):
Canon SD300 (This is a Folder)
    Sample Project 1
    Sample Project 2
    Sample Project 3
    Sample Project 4
Canon 20D (This is a folder)
    Sample Project 1
    Sample Project 2
    Sample Project 3
Canon 5D (This is a folder)
    Sample Project 1
    Sample Project 2
    Sample Project 3
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Hi rwboyer - I just realized that I have read many of your posts on your website regarding organizing your pictures on Aperture, very nice. I have fixed/figured out what was going on....and to tell you the truth I feel kind of stupid I hadn't checked.
ANSWER: In the Projects tab the setting was set to "Recent Projects" as opposed to "All Projects". As soon as I flipped this setting they all magically appeared.
I don't know how Aperture defines "recent" but considering that I imported all at the same time I was not thinking any one project was more recent than another. Oh well it's fixed, I'm happy and very excited to start using Aperture. Thanks again for the response.
