Problem Importing .SCR Subtitles

I've got a .SCR (Scenarist) subtitle file I'm trying to import into my DVD Studio Pro 4 project - and it refuses to import - providing this error message:
"No corresponding subtitles found.
The video asset timecode may not correspond with
the timecode specified for the subtitles in the import
file or the file is invalid."
My subtitles are .BMP images that are linked in the .SCR file in this sort of format (spaces between each item):
sub0001.BMP 00:00:01:00 00:00:03:00 720 480 0 0
sub0002.BMP 00:00:01:00 00:00:03:00 720 480 0 0
The actual BMP files are saved in the same folder as the .SCR file. The time-codes in the control file contain no overlaps and overall --- none of the time-codes run under my starting time-code ---- nor over my end-time code.
DVD Studio Pro's manual states that it accepts .SCR format, but it's acting like it doesn't recognize my output at all.
Please help!

Hi David,
Welcome aboard.
It sounds as though either your bitmaps are in the wrong folder or your .scr header has got a bit of rubbish in it. If you would like to send me your .scr and the first bitmap I would be happy to test the integrity of the files.
Cheers

  • Importing Romanian Subtitles into DVD SP

I'm not able to import Romanian subtitles into DVD SP correctly.  I can see them correctly in a program on my computer called Jubler, but when I import them into DVD SP, non-English characters don't import correctly.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Nick,
I appreciate your reply, though it didn't help.  After working on it for several hours, I did figure it out however.  I'll include here what I figured out incase someone else runs across the same problem.
I found out I can do it in both Jubler (which is a free program) and TextEdit.
I Jubler, I needed to import the .stl file encoded as ISO-8859-2, and save it out in UTF-16.
In TextEdit, I had to open it as Central European (ISO Latin 2), and save it out in UTF-16, manually changing the extension to .stl.  The way to get that option in TextEdit is to go to Preferences, then Open and Save. Under 'Plain Text File Encoding' where it says 'Opening files', click on that tab.  If it's not one of the options, then select 'Customize Encoding List...' at the bottom of the list, which will open up a ton of other opions.  Check Central European (ISO Latin 2), and select it in the tab beside 'Opening files'.  Next time you open up a file in TextEdit, that will be the default for the 'Plain Text Encoding'.  When you do 'Save As', you'll need to change it to Unicode (UTF-16) and change the extension to .stl.
That took me about 5 hours to figure out.
Hope this helps someone else out.

  • I am having problems importing from a DVD or a CD to my Ipod nano via windows 8.  I initially set everything up on a computer with windows 7, and authorized the windows 8 computer as well.  Howevre, the oly thing that comes up on windows 8 is my purchases

I am having problems importing to my Ipod nano via windows 8.  I usually do this from a windows 7 computer and have had no problems; hoever in windows 8 I can only see items purchased in the Itunes store.  I do not have access to my entire library, which includes song uploaded from CDs and some videos.  As a result, I'm having problems uploading any new items from CDs or DVDs.  The computer with windows 8 is an authorized computer, so I don't understand why I'm having the problem.

  • Problem importing from JVC MG 155 (videcam with hard disk drive)

I had a problem importing video from my videocam Jvc MG 155.
I tried when there was only few record in the videocam and everything gone right.
Otried when there were 520 movies and over 4 hour of video (I went to holiday and made also underwater movies) and the program crach before importing the movies.
I can import the moviesw only via firewire but in this way i import in DV mode (so I have near 60 gigabytes occupied by that movies insted of the original size in the hdd of the camera of 18 giga).
    Someone have a solution?
If I import by firewire I reach the same quality (the camera record directly in mpeg 2 and via firewire I import in dv way)?
    Any idea?
Jvc don't support mac because they don't give you software compatible (the cd inside is win only).

    You are right.
But the first time I imported with imovie 08 (the time when there was only few movies on the camera and everything gone right and the program don't crash) i notice that the program imported the movies in compress format (mpeg2) and the size was the same of the videocamera (more or less ..but I'm sure it's not in DV format).
Maybe the prgram crash because of the hight number of the miniature it must generate to let me choose witch I want import.
Certantly Apple mus resolve this bug because the model of this videocamera is one of the fews they assure like compatible directly with imovie 08.

  • Problems importing connections from a SAN directory

Is anybody having a problem importing connections from a directory that's on a SAN?
My network is setup so that the Application Data directory is out on a SAN and when SQL Developer opens up the file dialog, current directory is listed as C:\ and entry in the file name field is file://<server>/<path to my stuff>/Application Data/SQL Developer/. This looks fine but when I click on the "Open" button to get the directory listing, an error dialog pops up with the following message:
The directory C:\file:\<server>\<path to my stuff>\Application Data\SQL Developer is not accessible. Please select a different directory.
When I change the current directory to the drive that maps the SAN location, I get the same message only with C: replaced with another drive letter.
If I had to guess, the dialog is not processing the file:// protocol indicator properly before it attempts to get the directory listing. Does anyone have a work around?

Other users also had problems with network shares, so you're right that might very well be the cause of your problems.
As workaround, try mapping the settings folder to a local drive. Add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
    AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=C:\sqldeveloperHope that helps,
    K.

  • Problems importing videos recorded from my iPhone 3GS to iPhoto

I am having problems importing any videos recorded from my iPhone 3GS onto iPhoto. iPhoto keep giving me the following error:
"Error downloading Image. iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image."
If anyone else is having the same problem, please advise on how to fix.
    Thanks,

I am having the same problem...
and Image Capture ( didn't know we would normally be able to use it, but you can) also give an error
    "Import Error"
Now I have used "ITimelapse pro" to transfer some timelapse movies (about 3 that are about 30 to 60 seconds long) that I made to the phone's photo library.. and I has a very long video that I mistakenly made - (15 minutes long or so) and I "trimmed" it to be a few minutes long. -- and used "JotNot" to send a photo to the photo library... otherwise I have only some regular photos (about 40 ) and about 2 regular videos in the library.
so any suggestions... ( I am emailing all that I can to myself ... maybe ridding everything will help)

  • Problems importing sound

I'm trying to import .aiff (22.050  24bit) into the Director Cast, but Director (12) keeps crashing while importing them. I intially did a batch import, but am now importing them one at a time - a couple have imported, but I'm having to force quit Director and try re-importing several times before I can import a file. Has anyone else had problems importing sound into Director 12?

24 and 32 bit audio are not supported. Try 16 bit:

  • Problems importing from sony HDR FX7

    hi forum.
i'm having problems importing audio from my camera into i-movie.
during import there is no sound coming from my computer, but there is sound coming from my camera. after import when i play back the clip i just imported, the sound is morphed. its like the pitch has been turned down in the audio file, except no effect has been done on it.
if anyone out there has a similar problem, or a soulution please let me know as i am ready to throw my mac out the window!
    john lawlor

OK i think i get what you are saying but....
will the cound correct itself while it in in imovie. in other words will i be able to edit and listen to the audio as it is supposed to be?
what concerns me it that after i noticed this probem, i tried exporting it as a quicktime file, thinking that the wound would be OK, but after it finished exporting, the quicktime file was exactly the same. the sound was morpehd on it also.
could it be the settings on my camera?

  • Problems importing AVCHD clips from Panasonic GF1

I'm having problems importing clips from my new Panasonic Gf1. FCE (4.0.1) sees the device ok, and selecting and previewing the clips in the log and transfer window works fine, but once the clips are in FCE (converted to AIC) they play fast in the viewer or when placed in the sequence. Strange, because they play fine in the preview window before importing. Tried this in iMovie 08 and get the same effect.
I'm can convert them Toast to AIC and they work fine when imported to FCE but this is not my preferred workflow.

I tried using Toast Titanium 10 for conversion as suggested but there was a slight issue with synch of video and audio. So I downloaded and bought Voltaic HD as suggested elsewhere and the AVCHD files of the Panasonic GF-1 are now playing in Final Cut Express 4 without issues - I am editing with no problem. Given that I can use the Log&Transfer Window (Final Cut 4) for my Olympus EP1 and my Panasonic HD video cam, it's odd that the files of the Panasonic GF-1 don't work in Final Cut (yet), but at least I am back editing. Voltaic HD was $35, a doable expense.... it does work flawless (so far).

  • Problems importing and playing songs from an external cd/dvd drive

I am having problems importing songs on my PC from an external usb drive. What I have is an external combo usb firewire drive hooked up to my pc with a usb cable. (usb 2.0) When I launch itunes, it sees the cd I have loaded but when I go to import the songs, itunes just pops past each song in a second like each song was just a second in length. Then I have some corrupt file in my itunes library. Itunes gets the cd names and titles from CDDB correctly but can't play the songs or import them. I use this pc solely for playing audio, it is a Pentium 4 2.6 with 1GB of ram with build in usb 2.0 on the motherboard. There is no other software installed on the system other then virus software. When I use Windows Media Player the cd is read perfectly fine. I even play DVDs off the drive with no problems too. This problem in intermittent, with different cds. These are all commercial cds not burnt ones that someone made for me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Toonz - I have exactly the same problem when trying to import songs - itunes does recognise the cd drive and names of tracks etc - it just won't play more than one second of each, or import any more. i did run the cd diagnostic check you suggested - results below - don't mean anything to me i'm afraid - any bright ideas?

  • Problems importing with iPhoto 5

I am having problems importing photos from my Sony DSC-T1 camera.
The import process is very inconsistent. With the first attempt at importing maybe 50% of the images have horizontal lines with color shifts. I will delete the bad imports and start the import process again. This time, of the original bad imports, maybe a third of those will import correctly. The rest will take another two or three import attempts before they import cleanly. In addition new photos will show up between imports that weren't there in the original import.
Help! Whats going on? Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi mhdubi,
I just read this article and even though your camera is not listed as one of the ones affected, it could still be your problem.

  • Problems importing from camera - hardware related?

I am having problems importing from my new Olympus EP-1 through USB. Aperture hangs, iPhoto does not recognize the camera and Image Capture does not complete the task. The only way of retrieving the photos is through Finder.
I have tried importing the same photos to my wife's MacBook using iPhoto, and that went smoothly.
How likely is it that this is a hardware issue? And how can I find out? I haven't had any problems with my USB ports.

Try using image capture in your applications folder
Also if the camera mounts to the desktop try getting the photos that way
once you have them off use the camera to format the memory card (it is recommended that you use a USB card reader and do not use iPhoto to delete photos but format the card each time after the download is complete)

  • Problems importing AVI with DV codec to Premiere Pro

Problems importing AVI with DV codec to Premiere Pro  (720x564 px, 32 kHz stereo, 24.4 bitrate)
I can't import that video. What can I do?

    Svanur,
I agree with Harm. The specs. do not match up correctly. Where did those AVI files come from?
I assume that you are working in PAL-land (and not NTSC-land). Is that correct?
What platform are you working on, Mac, or PC?
When you attempt to Import those AVI files, what is the exact error message that you are getting?
    Good luck,
