Problem in 92010NT_Disk1.zip

When I try to unzip 92010NT_Disk1.zip I receive the following error message for file #'s 1509 through 1583:
Error in file #1509: bad Zip file offset (Error local header signature not found): disk #1 offset: 154754489
I redownloaded the file from your Website and received the same error. The file size is correct based on what your Website says it should be.

Any suggestions how to correct this issue?

  • Downloading 92010NT_Disk1.zip

    I have downloaded the 92010NT_Disk1.zip file twice and each time the file download has completed successfully. However, when I go to unzip the file, I get an "invalid archive" message. The size of the file on the http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/winsoft.html page is 612802971 bytes (598440 kB) however when I am downloading the file, the message in the dialogue box quotes 584 mB, so there is a discrepancy somewhere. I have tried using pkzipfix but this doesn't work either.
    If this problem has been resolved, please direct me to the forum/post where I can read the solution. Thanks!

    Hi OTN, thanks for checking into this. I tried using the GetRight utility program but got the same message when I went to unzip the file that was downloaded by GetRight. I am currently trying to download the file from different sources to see if that helps. Thanks for your help.

    Trying to download 92010NT_Disk1.zip (9.2 RDBMS for NT disk 1), and not being successful. Disks 2 and 3 come in fine, but 1 will either die at 99% downloaded, or will complete, but when we try to unzip it, it complains that it's an invalid file type.
    Anybody running into this and know how we can fix that? Thanks.

  • 92010NT_Disk1.zip fails to unzip

    I have downloaded 92010NT_Disk1.zip as well as the zips for disk2 and 3. Disks 2 and 3 both decompress using PKZIP just fine, but the Disk 1 keeps failing on file 998 of 3204. I downloaded the 92010NT_Disk1.zip a day later, but it continues to fail the same way. The file size on both downloads matches what the web page says they are supposed to be. I'm using a cable modem at 768Kbps.
    The site is: http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/winsoft.html
    The size is: 612,802,971
    Anyone know what might be wrong here? Thanks!

    I'm running in to a similar error. I've downloaded
    92010NT_Disk1.zip
    92010NT_Disk2.zip
    92010NT_Disk3.zip
    five times now
    from this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/winsoft.html
    I've created C:\9idb_9.2.0.1 folder
    and
    C:\9idb folder w/ subfolders disk1, disk2, disk3
    I download 3 zip files to C:\9idb_9.2.0.1 and when I unzip these files to their individual folders they don't unzip all three come back as invalid file archive errors.
    The knowlege base and previous answers on the forum w/ regard to this problem, suggests that my FTP dropped out b/c of the difference in file size. However I notice on the link above that
    92010NT_Disk1.zip is
    612,802,971 bytes
    when I begin downloading the file, however it prompts progress of ___MB out of 584 MB not 612. Previous downloads of this file have been no greater than 582,162,809 bytes.
    After the fifth unsuccessful attempt unzip these files, I tried using Winrar ( http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm ) instead of Winzip because Winrar uses a utility to test the integrity of the archive with a checksum. You will be able to tell if the archive is bad or if it's something else. When I extracting the zip1 file to disk1 path, I got a message reading "the archive is either unknown format or damaged." So I tried unzipping it in the same folder with Winrar, it unzipped the files successfully in the 9idb_9.2.0.1 folder but came back with an "unexpected end of archive" error. Starting to feel a little frustration...
    Help!

    This download has been up for some time so it's most likely a problem with the file transfer - did you verify the filesize matches what is posted on the web page?
    You may want to use a download manager for this file if you keep getting the error - there are many available. (www.getright.com works pretty well).

  • Problem with file zipping!

    I have problem with my zip files. all that i need is a simple zipping of files. here's is what i am doing
    //this mehod takes 2 arugments, first argument is the file which is to be zipped and the second argument is the name of the zip file
    public void makeZIP(File fileToZip, String zfileName) throws IOException{
    try{
    byte[] buff = new byte[BUF_SIZE];//BUF_SIZE =128
    int cnt=0;
    FileInputStream swcConvFis = new FileInputStream(fileToZip);
    ZipEntry swcConvZipEntry = new ZipEntry(zfileName);
    ZipOutputStream swcConvZipOutputStream = new ZipOutputStream(swcConvFos);
    swcConvZipOutputStream.putNextEntry(swcConvZipEntry);
    while((cnt = swcConvFis.read(buff,0,BUF_SIZE)) != -1){
    swcConvZipOutputStream.write(buff,0,cnt);
    swcConvFis.close();
    swcConvZipOutputStream.closeEntry();
    }catch(NullPointerException npe){npe.printStackTrace();}
    whis code is a part of the servlet code that has to send the zipped file to the applet. What's happening is i am able to zip the files. but when i try to open the zip file it gives me a an error window saying " cannot open file: it does not appear to be valid archive."
    ofcourse the file is zipped on a linux machine and i am trying to open it in windows...it think this shouldn't be a problem though!!
    please somebody throw some light on this. i have searched the archives but not helpful sofar.
    thanks
    sri

    the outputToApplet is the ObjectOutputStream object.
    at the applet's reading end this is what i am doing
    ObjectInputStream intputFromServlet = new ObjectInputStream(connect.getInputStream());
    //code to read the output files from the servlet
    byte[] buff = new byte[BUF_SIZE];
    int cnt = 0;
    ArrayList getOutputFilesFromServlet = (ArrayList) inputFromServlet.readObject(); // at the servlet end i am writing outputToApplet.writeObject(send2Files), send2Files is an ArrayList object that has one .txt file and another .zip file
    System.out.println("total no.of files "+getOutputFilesFromServlet.size()); //shows 2
    Iterator getOutputFilesFromServletIterator = getOutputFilesFromServlet.iterator();
    while(getOutputFilesFromServletIterator.hasNext()){
                   File file = (File)getOutputFilesFromServletIterator.next();
    String fname = file.getName();
    System.out.println("received "+fname);//shows correct file names
                   try{
                        File nfile = new File(getOfile.getParent()+System.getProperty("file.separator")+fname);//puts the files in the requested directory on the client machine
                        FileOutputStream toFile = new FileOutputStream(nfile);
    //reading the files uploaded by the applet
                        while( (cnt = dump.read( buff )) > -1 ){
                             if(cnt<BUF_SIZE){
                             toFile.write( buff, 0, cnt );
                                  toFile.close();
                                  break;
                             toFile.write( buff, 0, cnt );
              }catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
    System.out.println("finished reading all files from the servlet....");
              }//while(it.next)
    not only the zip file even the other text file is not downloaded properly....(i.e) it shows some junk characters instead of the actual file context. so maybe there is mistake in the way that i am reading the files...but what i am doing at applet's end is just a mirror reflection of what i am doing at the servlet's end. you got me!! hope i am not confusing!
    any suggestions!!

  • Problems installing VadoCentral_MAC_APP_LA_1_2_3.zip on Mac

    Problems installing VadoCentral_MAC_APP_LA__2_3.zip on Mac? Preamble: st gen Vado HD
    macbook pro running OS X Snow leopard 0.6.2
    I'm having a tough time installing the Vado Central SW on my Mac. I tried installing VadoCentral_MAC_APP_LA___0_df6, too. Similar results with both, I get a message "Installation failed."? This comes as no surprise since my mac never installs anything without prompting for an administrator login. So, I ignored the instructions to plug in the Vado after the installation was complete, and plugged it in and tried re-installing the software with the Vado as the installation destination.... which makes sense since it seems to run the Windows Vado Central from the Vado. VadoCentral_MAC_APP_LA__2_3.zip would not let me select any device except the mac hard dri've.
    With VadoCentral_MAC_APP_LA___0_df6 I was able to install change the install location to the Vado HD device. It appears to have created an applications folder containing Vado Central.app. But, now when I plug in the Vado, it still automatically starts iPhoto. If I browse the Vado and double click the Vado Central.app, OS X first prompts, asking me if I want to install the application to the local computer. Click "No", then I get prompted that Vado Central rquires the flv2ITunes transcorder downloaded and installed. Click "Yes", then I'm prompted that a newer version of Vado Central is available, "Do you want to download...", click "Yes". It downloads and installs somewhere, but apparently not on the Vado, because it puts me through all of this every time. Whatever/whereever the software is being updated, it's not changing the Vado Cental.app on the Vado, based on the timestamp.
    Can somebody provide the correct installation instructions? The minimal instructions on the Creative download page appear to be wrong. (I've looked at the other threads complaining about the mac installation, they don't seem to match my experience.)
    TIA

    I have a Vado HD 2nd generation. I use it exclusi'vely on my MacBook.
    The firmware version that my Vado came with is "v.250.
    I found out the version on my unit by holding down the Delete button
    while turning the unit on.
    Is it possible that your unit is not installing v.23 because your unit already has a later version?
    Hope this helps.

  • A strange problem using the zip files

    I'm currently working on a university project with another student in which we use zip files (using the java ZipFile , and ZipOutputStream classes), we write certain data to a zip file (and verify that it is there by checking the disk). and later we read the zip file, and write it back , appending some data at the end of the file.
    although we see the changes actually take place on the disk , in one of the cases when reading the data we don't see the data we have appended before (although it is physically written on the disk).
    testing has revealed that this has something to do with the rename command or java being unsynchronized with the data actually on the disk (caching problem?).
    we use this code to preform the process:
    ZipFile zf= new ZipFile( ((Integer)lexicon.get(keyword)).intValue()+".zip");
              BufferedInputStream input= new BufferedInputStream(zf.getInputStream(new ZipEntry("data")));
              // create a temporary new zip file.
              ZipOutputStream zipst= new ZipOutputStream(new FileOutputStream( ((Integer)lexicon.get(keyword)).intValue()+".tmp.zip"));
              BufferedOutputStream output =new BufferedOutputStream(zipst);
              zipst.putNextEntry(new ZipEntry("data"));
              // stream the contents of the old file into the new file
              //(we do it this way because of the inability of the java zip file interfaces to add to an existing zip file)
              int current = input.read();
              while(current!=-1){
              output.write(current);
              current = input.read();
              output.write(entry.getBytes(false)); // add the new entrys.
              output.flush();
              zipst.closeEntry();
              output.close();
              // erase the old file.
              File toErase = new File( ((Integer)lexicon.get(keyword)).intValue()+".zip");
              toErase.delete();
              // rename the temporary file to the old files name.
              File toRename = new File( ((Integer)lexicon.get(keyword)).intValue()+".tmp.zip");
              toRename.renameTo(new File( ((Integer)lexicon.get(keyword)).intValue()+".zip"));
    we use:
    1. j2sdk 1.4.2_05
    2. running under libranet linux.
    any help will be appreciated

    the data does indeed get lost in the course fo rewriting the file, e assume this is some sort of synchronization issue with java and the file system.
    addig enteies to an existing zip file would have been great, if we had it a few weeks ago , we had to make do without this ability , and all of the code is already written and mostly working (except for the problem I mention) and we don't really want to rewrite the zip file access.
    additional testing has shown that the data gets lost when we use the rename command.
    very strange...
    thanks for the input

    Enumeration entries = zip.entries();
    while (entries.hasMoreElements()) {

    if (entry.isDirectory()) {
    // now the directories are created
    File buf=new File(dir_name,entry.getName());

    System.out.println (filer.canRead());
    System.out.println (filer.canWrite());
    System.out.println (filer.delete());
    Please tell me where my program is going wrong ?

    Thanks .. the problem is solved... i was not closing the Zip file .. rather i was trying to close all the other streams that i used for IO operaion ... thanks a lot

  • Problem in creating zip file.

       in.close();
       out.flush();
       out.close();The problem is that the zip file created is having no files when i try to zip files from locations other than the program file location ie other than current drive.
    Could you please suggest me a solution so that it zips file from any location. Thanks in advance.

    a). Give you Exception Message/stack trace if an error has occured
    b). Check whether the appropriate code change works

      if(out != null)
         try{out.close();}catch(Exception e){}
       out = null;
       in = null;
    }in order to compress the file we can call the method something like
    compressUtilObj.compressFile("d:\\abc\\target.zip","d:\\abc\\xyz.log");Hope that helps :)

    Hii Guys ,one more prb,
    I need to develop a file uploading utility in struts to upload ZIP files(only ZIP), and i sucseeded to do it using the commons.fileupload which comes along with the WSAD5.1(examples), but the prb is i need to chek for the MIME type and need to reject if its not a zip file, if i do this in actionclass, its waiting till the uploading process of the file is finished and finally its displaying file is not the a ZIP, i need to do this validation as the request comes to the server side, i cant not do this in clint side cause my design should not allow me to use any java script..so please let me know is there any way to specify in the controller it self .

    At the download page for the Recommended patch clusters there is a disclaimer which you should read. It points to a potential unzip problems which is explained further in infodoc 252447.
    The infodoc clearly states that the symptom in question is due to a limitation in unzip, which is fixed with the following patches:
    Solaris 10: (SPARC) patch 119254-63 or later; (x86) patch 119255-63 or later.
    Solaris 9: (SPARC) patch 112951-14 or later ; (x86) patch 114194-11.
    Solaris 8: (SPARC) patch 108987-19 or later ; (x86) patch 108988-19.
    Ensure that you have the appropriate patch and try again..
    Even though sun would make our life easier by providing checksums to the clusters.

  • Problems with src.zip

    Hi, I can't seem to find a similar problem anywhere so, here we go:
    I have just re-installed my WinXP Prof. on my workstation and installed j2sdk1.4.2 and thought that it was going to work, as it did before the re-install, but it doesn't.
    The problem is that I get 100 errors and 207 Warnings when compiling a small and simple file.
    It says that some of the source files in src.zip uses a deprecated api and that c:\j2sdk1.4.2\src.zip(java/nio/ByteBufferAsIntBufferB.java):34: warning: as of release 1.4, assert is a keyword, and may not be used as an identifier
    (source unavailable)and
    c:\j2sdk1.4.2\src.zip(java/lang/IllegalArgumentException.java):20: class Illegal ArgumentException is public, should be declared in a file named IllegalArgumentException.java
    (source unavailable)this is just a small portion of the errors that is diplayed.
    I don't get it and neither does any of my colleges.
    Can anyone help me make sense of this.

    There is no reason for your JDK installation to look in the src.zip though your installation may be pointing to an older Java setup on your Win XP. Make sure that the CLASSPATH variable doesn't point to any other Java version other then the one you have. The source files, as far as I know, are provided for reference to the programmer only. They should not be included in any compilation.
    Check your "Internet Properties" as well. There should be an option to indicate whether you are using the built in version of Java that may come with Win XP or one from SUN.
    Also try moving the src.zip to another directory.
    You should also be able to specify in your "Java Plug-In" in Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. Make sure that it is pointing too and using your new Java installation (1.4.2).
