Are there any known compatibility problems with Acrobat Professional 6.0 and Windows XP Service Pack 3?

It has worked fine on one of my machines with XP SP3. It has been that way for 2 or more years with no problems.

I have tried to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional XI this morning and payment (AED 1983.53) has been taken, I received a message stating there was/is a problem processing my order and that I should contact your customer service team in UAE.  Having tried this, I was met with a recorded message, in Arabic, and no options to speak to anyone.  I have found this process extremely frustrating and poor on your behalf.  Not providing any options to speak to an Adobe representative is equally annoying.  Please get back to me ASAP, as I need to use the product immediately.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 giving problem

We've a user who has installed Adobe Reader 7.0.8 and xACF on her machine. She also has Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 on her machine which she uses for some other work.
Now the problem is that when she tries to open the Adobe interactive form from CRM system, it by default opens by Adobe Professional 8.0 (AND Professional 8.0 has issues with xACF framework, so she can not edit the form or click any button).
I tried to attach "PDF" documents with Adobe Reader 7.0 on her machine - which works when I double click an existing PDF on her machine - it opens in Reader 7.0.
But as soon as she opens the Interactive  form from CRM it opens in Adobe Professional 8.0.
I even tried follwoing in Professional 8.0 -
Edit -> Preferences -> Internet -> Display PDF in browser (Unchecked)
But as soon as I did this the PDF stopped to display and just an icon appeared.
Please let me know how I can resolve this issue of co-existence of Reader 7.0 and Professional 8.0 together on same machine.
    Many Thanks,
    Vimukta

    Hello Michal,
    I tried your solution 1. I un-installed both Reader 7.0.8 and Professional 8.0.
    Then I re-installed Reader 7.0.8.
Then I re-installed Professional 8.0, but no where during installtion process did it ask me if Professional 8.0 should be default to open PDF files. By default it set it to open PDF files. Now I'm back to original problem.
Solution 2 still works (i.e. open Reader 7.0.8) before opening the URL in web browser (then it opens in Reader 7.0.8).
But we want a permanent solution.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat Professional for Mac...Bookmarks disappear, other problems

I am using a Mac with OS 10.6.6, and using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.5. I find that I often lose some but not all bookmarks in documents after I save the file, close and then reopen the file. I also get one or two randome bookmarks that WILL NOT DELETE no matter what I do.
I also use the link boxes (to insert URLs) and those seem to move around the page, disappear, or move to other pages. Is anyone else having these problems?
I also CANNOT get the 8.2.5 patch to take on my machine.
    Any ideas?

Acrobat 8 is not OS X.6 compatible.

  • Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional

    Hello all,
    I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
    Backgroundinfo:
    - Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    - Windows XP (SP2)
    - MS Word 2002
    Thanks in advance!
    Bart

    Dear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links  in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
    Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
    first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
    second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
    Anyone ideas?
    Grtz,
    Bart

  • Problem in adobe acrobat professional 7

    Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With AA7, you will have to hunt for the work arounds to get it to work properly in Win7. Do expect some problems to occur that may not be able to be solved. Apparently you do not have a 64-bit version of Win7, or it probably would not work at all. A year or 2 back there was a lot of dicussion for AA8 users and Win7, with one or 2 mentioning they got it to work in the 64-bit version. I don't remember anyone else tryin AA7 on Win7, so you may be on your own -- basically because it is something none of us have tried. We may still be able to comment and give some thoughts, but probably not much more. You are likely to get a lot of the compatibility comments and that is appropriate, but does not help you.
What you might have to do is create a folder (If you can figure it out based on Win XP) and try to set that up for your data. Win7 stores system data in different folders (hopefully the registry is the same). That is not a lot of help, but is probably what the problem is. Systems have gone through a document and settings folder to a user folder, and so on. That may be the issue that Acrobat just can't find the folder to write the info into. Of course, it could be a registry issue also.

  • Drop Shadows problem in Acrobat Reader & Professional

    Hi all,
We have a problem with Acrobat, when we open an pdf which has drop shadow over a background seems to be white patch around the dropshadow.
    Attempt done:
First Attempt: Opened the PDF in acrobat professional 7, when we switch on overprint option this seems to be good but when I print I got the white patch around the dropshadow.
Second Attempt: Opened the PDF in Acrobat Reader 9.0, it has white patch and print has white patch.
Third Attempt: Opened the PDF in Acrobat Professional 8, when we switch on overprint option looks fine and print fine.
Client want the pdf should be compatible in Acrobat Reader.
Note: This PDF was generated with 3b2 Software we cannot switch over the software to Indesign.
Any suggestion related to this issue.
    Kaviya

The overprint settings would need to be set in the source file and preserved when generating the pdf. Based on the information from the uploaded file, you might try Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher support.

  • Problem in creating PDF of Website using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

I am trying to create PDF file of full website using "Create PDF from Web Page..." option, in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
It is creating PDF but the page alignments/text/images alignments are lost and doesn't look good.
Can any one help to create the PDF same as webpage look and feel.
    Thanks.

Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

  • Problems Installing Adobe Acrobat Professional

    Hi,
I am new to Windows Vista 64. I am trying to install CS3. All of the programs will install except Adobe Acrobat Professional. I get the following error message:

Windows Vista was installed on the computer when I bought it so I don't have a CD. Any suggestions on what I need to do would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi PrepetrolLtd,
Acrobat XI is not recommended for windows Vista and that is the reason it wont show up in Adobe Application Manager.

  • Problem with formatting of bookmarks in Acrobat Professional

Since a while my bookmarks in Acrobat Professional appear like this, with a fixed blank space. Can anyone tell me how to remove these spaces ?

It was reported several times in the past. It seems to be a bug in Acrobat on Mavericks. You should report it to Adobe here:

  • Acrobat Professional 8.1 interface problem with Internet Explorer

After upgrading to the latest version of Internet Explorer, I cannot open or download Adobe files from online sources.  The Adobe Acrobat program simply shuts down, and the following error message appears:  "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.0 cannot continue.  Please reinstall the application and try again."  When using Google Chrome as a browser, the Adobe program works as intended.  Any suggestions about how to remove this glitch from Internet Explorer?

The new version of IE was written years after the release of Acrobat Pro. You can try IE in compatibility mode to see if that helps. If not then either roll back to IE7 or right click to to a save as and open the file outside of IE.

  • Acrobat Professional 8.1.6 patch problem

I started with a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.5.8. Installed Acrobat Professional 8 from disk, then went through all 7 or so incremental updates (why no rollup install????). All went fine until the last patch, at which point I get the "Update failed" message - because the original application has been modified since it was originally installed.
I only installe the app about half an hour ago!! And the only changes that could have been made are by Adobe patches!
As for the suggestions at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407621.html, well the first one doesn't work, and the second is just idiotic. It's a brand new installation of everything!
    What to do?
    Thanks!

Sorry for the delay on getting this tested.
So I was able to go from a fresh install of Acrobat Pro v 8.0 to v 8.2.2 on a Mac.
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.2) installed on an intel based machine.
My Mac version of Acrobat 8 is a download and not from a DVD.
Acrobat 8 has never been installed since reinstalling the OS on a new Hard Drive.
This is where I downloaded all the updates
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh
Since I have an English version of the software my main goal was to get the English friendly updates.
No updates were downloaded using the Acrobat Updater since this seems to cause issues with installing v8.1.6.
After installing each update Acrobat was launched and the About information was checked to confirm the update.
After installing the last update the Acrobat Updater was used to confirm all updates were applied.
All updates below installed without any errors.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 Problem

I installed CS3 on my MacBook about a month ago. When I try to view something using Adobe Acrobat Professional, it comes up but then it goes away and a box says I need to open up at least one more Adobe program for it to work. Even if I try opening Photoshop or Illustrator or something, it still won't work. Any help would be appreciated!

Acrobat is not an Apple product. You should post your question on Adobe's forums:
