Problem in BOM explosion

Dear Sir
I have created a change number with release key.But i didn't set the release key during my creation.Then i change material BOM with that change number.Suppose i was having component X in a material BOm.Using that change number i changed that to Y.But The system is exploding X now in order creation for the material not X.How i will rectify that.

Please see my reply for your thread whose title is 'ECM ISSUE', so my guess in that is correct, please release the change number,otherwise the change would not be valid.

Please advise how to explode a BOM or Assign component in a Purchase order with Item category (L) for a Operation SubContract External Processing oriented material for which no material code is created from a Series Operation production order .

Change the control key of the operation to PP02. System will prompt u to PR data screen where u have to tick on Subcontracting checkbox. Enter other mandatory field like material grp, cost element, purchasing grp etc. On saving system will create PR with line items. System will trigger the components reqmt based on the assignment to operation. Example if for operation 20, materials M1 & M2 are assigned, then in the PR u will find M1, M2 in the component screen which u have to send to the vendor.

BOM explosion in sales order

Hi Experts,
I have met a problem in BOM explosion in sales order.
I have maintained the BOM with usage 5 and the conversion between header material and component of the BOM. But in the sales order entry, no matter how many qty I entered for the header material, after the BOM explosion, the qty of component is 1.
Can anyone help?

BOM Explosion in Shopping Basket for CRM B2C 6.0

Hi Gurus,
Can we have a BOM explosion in shopping basket . As per few links I explored BOM Concept is possible only in ECC and we can implement it is CRM based by some additional configurations . (BOM in CRM) .
We have configured component for products and XCM setting for BOM is also in place . But BOM explosion is happening only at Order confirmation level .
Can anybody give some insights to get BOM explosion in Shopping Basket of CRM B2C 6.0 .

I could find the UI component setting : ui.fields.order.bomExplosion = Visible and I have already done this . Due to this I am able to see BOM explosion on Checkout Page / Order Confirmation Page .
But still I am not able to find ui.fields.order.subitemDetailview = Visible.
Is that available only in R/3 version ?
My problem is BOM explosion is not visible in Shopping basket .

BOM Explosion report

Hi All,
I have problem with BOM explosion report CS12.
We have material with 3 level BOM. While we are running CS12, upto 2nd level appears in the report. 3 rd level components dose'nt show. what may be the reason. I have checked validity period & BOM status is active for all levels.

Check the explosion types in OS17 also check whether phantom asseblies indicator in OS17.
Check In BOM for whether you have defined some material as Phantom or not?

BOM explosion not done because there is no free item number anymore

Hello,
I have a problem with BOM explosion when creating a sales order.
All the following actions are done with VA01 :
- I enter a material (main item 10) with a rejection reason, so the BOM explosion is not done :OK.
- Then I add the same material (main item 20) without rejection code, so the BOM explosion is done, it means sub items 21, 22., ...,31,32 are determined:OK
- Finally, I remove the rejection code on item 10, the problem is that there is no place anymore to do the BOM explosion because I have 12 sub items (10 +12 = 22 and it is not possible as I have already an item 20).
I have a popup with message V1-142 (There are not enough item numbers free for a structure explosion).
I know that it is possible to change the increment with VOV8, but my customer want to keep this one: 10 by 10 for main item and 1 by 1 for sub item.
He told me that he think that there is a user exit in order to put the remaining sub items at the end of the sales order like this
10 main item A
11 sub item 1 (A)
12 sub item 2 (A)
19 sub item 9 (A)
20 second main item (B)
21 sub item 1 (B)
22 sub item 2 (B)
32 sub item 12 (B)
33 sub item 10 (A)
34 sub item 11 (A)
35 sub item 12 (A)
Maybe it's a strange idea, but could you please tell me what are the different possibilities to manage sub items when there is no place to put them :
- put a higher increment in VOV8? Ok but my customer don't agree
- other solutions?

Did you ever find a solution for this? The notes mentioned in the earlier post dont appear to be relevent for 6.0.
I have a similar issue when dealing with Cross Sell items. When it tries to insert the additional items I get the V1142 message, then the items are copied at the end of the list but the higher level item reference is incorrect for the cross sell items.
I do not want to change the increments but it appears to be the only option.
Any ideas are appreciated.

BOM Explosion problem

I have multilevel BOM (almost 10 levels with around 1500 materials), in which many materials repeat at different levels.
I am facing problem in one of the material during MRP, This material is used at 10 different levels. Altogether to produce a FG it requires in 36 numbers. In different levels quantity of it required is different. Say 8,1,4,2 etc but total qty is 36.
When MRP is run the requirement generated for this material is same at all levels i.e 36(total qty) / 10 (BOM levels) = 3.6
But actually system must generate requirements as per BOM quantity. Not sure what is wrong.

Below is the little knowledge i have which want to share with all the august people around.Hope it would be helpful enough for you to get the results.
A BOM is not exploded in the following situations:
- No BOM is effective:
-- On the explosion date and in the given area of validity
For the given effectivity parameters
- The BOM has a deletion indicator.
- The BOM is a multiple BOM, and has no alternative that matches the lot size for your required quantity.
- No BOM matches the selection criteria of the BOM application you selected.
- This is possible in the following situations, for example:
-- The application does not take all BOM usages into account.
For example, the application only takes BOMs that are relevant to production into account, so a BOM that is relevant to sales and distribution is not exploded.
-- The application selects a specific alternative on the explosion date you require. The material master record supports alternative determination by Explosion date.
If the specified alternative is not valid on the explosion date, the BOM is not exploded.
-- The application takes production versions in the material master record into account, but no production version has a BOM that is valid on the explosion date you require. The material master record supports alternative determination by Production version.
The system only explodes the BOM defined for the production version that matches the alternative and/or usage entered on the explosion date required.
-- The application only takes BOMs with certain status indicators into account.
For example, the application for MRP only explodes BOMs that have at least the status Explosion for MRP.
Further checks:
- Do the proper Scheduling in Routing (Backward/forward). In md61 give the requirement in next month.check your in-house production, planned delivery time in md02 give MRP Control parameter Rexplode BOM and Routing.
- Check BOM explosion data in MRP4 view of material master view ( Individual/Coll data).

I have been researching the SDN and web for a solution to my problem to no avail so far.
The business problem I need to solve is the requirement for our STPO process to explode certain BOM's that are transfered from one company/plant to another company/plant in order to record batch/serial # component information by the delivering plant on the delivery and verification of the batch/serial # in the receiving plant during MIGO processing of the delivery. This is needed by our Service Mgmt department in order to track servicable items within the Finished Good (medical devices industry).
It appears on the SDN that a BOM can not be exploded on a non-Subcontracting PO (which would be ideal for us), but barring this problem, we are trying to have the BOM explode in the Delivery created from the STPO via the VL10B transaction.
The STPO generates a Delivery doc with type NLCC and item category NLC. I have maintained the material master for the BOM material to have an Item Category Group of ERLA, and I have modified Item Category Determination in configuration in Logistics Execution for deliveries to include ERLA, usage V, and NLC as default item category. But, the deliveries generated from the STPO still do not explode, like what normally happens if the delilvery of the BOM was created from a standard Order.
The components for the BOM need to be displayed on the Delivery (if not the STPO), so the cleark can record the Batch/Serial #'s for each component. Then when the receiving plant posts the Goods Receipt for the delivery a user exit we have (based on movement type and material document code) builds a Service Mgmt table that is then processed to De-install the BOM and components from the former plant and install the BOM and components at the receiving plant (and then subsequently at the ultimate customer's location when a normal sale is made), generating a new Functional Location.
Has anyone here had to do anything like this before? Would any of you have any ideas on how this BOM explosion might work on the PO or Delivery?

BOM explosion in subcontracting PR

Hi...
I have one issue of BOM explosion in subcontracting PR.
I have created BOM, routing & PV. Production version maintained in info record.
While creating manaul subcontracting PR , BOM is not exploded giving error message as "Not possible to determine any components".
I have checked validity of BOM, PV found ok.
Also Proc. type X & Spl. proc type 30 maintained.
Any suggestion to the problem appreciated

BOM explosion in Sales order with material variants

Dear all,
we would like to work with Variant Matching in the Sales Order. Additionaly we would like to explode the BOM....according to the SAP help this is not possible....

I have gonethrough the SAP link referred by you but never come across with any problem in type matching during Sales order even if the BOM explosion is set for Multilevel in Configuration Profile provided the other pre requisite set up was perfect.

BOM EXPLOSION IN SUBCONTRACTING SCENERIO

To all Experts,
This is regarding the bom explosion in subcontracting P.O(scenerio).Scenerio prob. is explained as follows -
1) I have an assembly which includes the semifinish & raw materials.
2) By cs11 it explpodes whole BOm
3) When i made P.O. for job work order(subcon.), in mateial data view it displys only the semifinish components(i.e. component or explode bom) ,but not the raw,which we want to send to vendor.
so due to above,how we can determine, what the material we are sending to vendor?
In short i want to explode the bom in po,in which it displys the semifinish as well as its raw.
So please suggest a propper solution for above query.

we are exploring the PHANTOM ASSEMBLY but still no luck.
When i set at BOM item level - Phantom Assembly off indictor and Spec. Procurement 50
system is still requesting for transfer of Phantom Assembly instead of components to the vendor.

BOM explosion from Production Order

Hi All,
I understand from SAP Help files that we can explode BOM from Production Order using Read PP Master Data. But it also says, that we cannot do this if items have already been issued out. So would like to know is there anyway out to ensure that the production order is reading the latest version of BOM.
The reason i want to know is because, at present the BOM keeps getting updated & so the work order has to reflect the new items. The BOM contains about 300 or more items, so manual changes is very tedious & error prone at the moment. Furthermore some components are outsourced. So i want to receive them back & post new materials for them. Hope my problem is clear & await inputs

Thanks for the inputs. I think for the situation am facing, the Order change management method, should be of help, as the BOM changes does not take place on scheduled dates, for me to fix the BOM explosion dates & assign them. As of now the BOM gets changed, depending the customer requirements, which is unpredictable.
Clarification required:
1. The profile which is created using OPL7 & assigned in OPL9 is unique, i.e. for any change numbers of BOM will always follow the profile entered in 'Overall Profile' in Work Scheduling view & i do not need to create new profiles for each new change number of BOM
2. Once i run the COCM with the new change number, in the production order - components view will i be able to see any error message for those items which no longer feature in the new version of BOM? & will the materials added in the new BOM automatically feature in that list or do i have to manually add these to the order & if so, how will i know which materials need to be added?

No BOM Explosion in Planning Order

Hello Folks,
i have a problem with the BOM explosion at creating a planning order.
Our BOMs are created without plant number and are enterprise wide available.
If we create new BOM's with direct plant association via CS01, the BOM explosion in creating a planning order is possible.
I've already searched in Customizing and Transactions and didn't find anything to make a BOM explosion possible with an enterprise BOM.
Do you have any idea how it is possible to do that? We don't want to create new BOMs because it is too much workload to create all new BOMs. We use a SAP ECC 6.0 with IS-Retail.

I think that it is a must to have the BOM defined for plant to be exploded in a planned order.
Nevertheless, you don't need to create it a gain for each plant, you can instead just do a plant assignment (CS07).

BOM Explosion with order finish date

Hi,
In transaction OPPQ it is possible to configure the BOM explosion date used by MRP and creation of a process order (see SAP NOTE 506345).
I suppose this setting is also considered when re-reading master data during release of an order.
The field BESAL can have the following values:
            BOM explosion number/order start date
1     Order start date
2     Order finish date
3     BOM explosion number/order start date
4     BOM explosion number/order finish date
What I do not understand is that value 4 also end up in using the order start date when re-reading master data. Here the function module CO_ZF_VALIDATIONDATE_DET is called which contains the following coding:

which says only use the Order finish date if BESAL has the value 2. The comment showing the possible values gives me the impression that SAP simply forgot to adapt this coding when splitting the value 3 (prev. only BOM explosion number) into 3 BOM explosion number/order start date and 4 BOM exlosion number/order finish date.
On the other hand the SAP Note mentioned above documents this behaviour.
Does anyone know the reason why value 4 (BOM exlosion number/order finish date) results in using the order start date ?

The defination in OPPQ is only working for the MRP, when the planned order is created.
Then the explosion date will be copied from planned order to production/process order when you convert the planned order.
However, when the production or process order is created manually, or when you do a re-read master data process, then a different BOM explosion date process will be carried out as described in the SAP note 506345, it has explained the behavior clearly base on the different value of paramter:
V_T399D_S-BESAL = initial, 1, 3 or 4
V_T399D_S-BESAL = 2 (Explosion with order finish date)
So there is no problem to have different behavior of planned order and production/process order.
