Problem in canvas window positioning

Dear buddies,
I'm using Dev-6i....whenever I minimize the MDI window of my forms and then maximize it, the canvas window is resized and moves upward and so its buttons toolbar which I created myself ( and not using built-in Default & Smart Bar) gets disappeared, so I've to double click on the title bar of that window to resize it and bring it on the actual position. Can anybody tell me that why is it happening & whats its remedy??? thanx

it sounds, like you have a canvas-problem. maybe there are some elements (buttons, items, ...) which are displayed in the lower section of the form or in the right section.
If you increase the canvas and window-size a little bit... is the problem then away?

Window position problem

Hi everyone,
I am having problems with window position.
If my portal is set to english language, there are no problem.
If my portal is set to hebrew language, I have troubles with position of windows. Some windows are moved to left, some are moved to right...and some are moved out of the screen.

Could be usefull, find some CODE that give you MAX_WIDTH and MAX_HEIGHT of client browser and after
window.setWindowPosition(func(MAX_WIDTH),func(MAX_HEIGHT));

Problem refreshing canvas when multiple windows and canvasses.

Ok I Have a form that has 2 windows and 2 canvases.
They both get populated on When new Forms instance trigger with a parameter i pass in from teh previous form.
On entering the form if the parameter is set (passed in by the form before) it should query the blocks on canvas 1 and display the second canvas/window via a seperate package of "canvas.open" which is a package to open and populate the second canvas which is a tree.
If this code is fired on a key next item or a button press its fine. but not where it is on when new form instance trigger. The canvas.open simply stops on a synchronize early on. If i remove a sync then the second canvas never appears.
You can see a commented out pause. If this is included then it all works fine. If i use a synchronize instead of the pause it doesnt even reach the canvas.open (i used messages on status to work this out)
So my question is how can i get a synchronize to work as i assume this is whats missing?

Canvas window - video plays back at different speeds from the timeline. Why

I've scanned 25 pages of topics but found nothing that mentioned this as a problem. When I play a sequence in the timeline, the video in the Canvas window slows down (and sometimes suddenly speeds up to catch up with the audio) About the audio, it sounds find regardless of how the video is playing back. if I hit the space bar to stop play back, the video snaps to the correct position.
Any ideas why?
Sometthings I've noticed : If I restart my computer, the video tends to play back fine. But if I leave the program open and use it alot, the play back problem happens over time. If I make the canvas window tiny (25% size), the video plays fine but at 50% - I get video speed changes. (audio, always good)
Here is what Im using : The project is about 20 mins long. I have over 50 gigs of HD space (the Macs main drive) Im using FCP version 4.5 on a Dual G5. 2.5 GB of Ram.

Does this happen in any other sequences within this FCP project? Or, for that matter, with any other projects on your FCP system?
And, to confirm, your media is running off your system drive? That is, your machine has only one hard drive on it, correct? (Partitioned or not)

Window Position & Prefs "Gone"

Every time I start up or restart, any window position, size, view etc info is gone, and I get a view very different than what I had set. I have tried to delete the Finder plist, but it did not help. I did notice something extremely weird as well.
I noticed that the Finder plist is actually deleting itself about every 30 - 60 seconds when I open the ~user Library prefs, and cannot find anything that might be causing this. Repairing permissions, running utilities such as DiskWarrior etc have not helped. This condition actually exists identically on two Macs I am using. The only thing in common is that I ran an updater for Missing Sync for BlackBerry from Mark/Space Software, and took note of the condition being created on the second Mac immediately after doing this update.
I don't really want to do a full reinstall of the System, as I suspect I will still end up with this "condition" after reinstalling my working applications.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A bit of troubleshooting .....
On a full restart, any windows left open will retain their position, view, etc - but closed windows "forget" when reopened.
During the safe boots, files were sent to the Trash, which are as follows:

I cannot find /private in order to locate /private/var/run/StartupItems
Nothing unusual (at least that I can see) in either of the other two locations.

External displays - browser window position when disconnected display

I'm using a laptop, connecting one or two external displays, - one using the HDMI port, second using an USB "dock station" (Toshiba standalone). Second screen normally to the right, third screen (usb) above the laptop screen.
Often when I have disconnected the USB external display, my Firefox browser window are still "on the third display" - position as if this display was still active.
Even if I quit Firefox and restarts ( or even restarts windows ) the same position window is retained. The only way to fix it (when the USB connected display is not available), is to change the window position of the second (HDMI) display to cover the area of the USB one, then move Firefox window to my main laptop display, and then reposition the second screen back to the normal.
Normally, I expect applications to automatically reposition the windows to the available display(s) under the conditions that an extra display is removed. However, this seems not to happen with Firefox. It's inconvinient, but possible to fix with the second screen available, but I'm lost when I am not able to connect an external display ...
Is there any solution to this? Is it possible to change (reset) window positions directly in RegEdit ??

Thank you very much for your help and valuable suggestion.
I've tried your suggestion but ran into some problems. The links I am trying to open in another window are actually PDF files that the viewer can download from my website.
Since I was having problems I decided to try something else. After publishing the website to my desktop I then opened the pages where the links are in Dreamweaver. The layout view is great and displayed the image just the way it appears on the browser's window. I first selected the "link button" to the file and then in the inspector windows (bottom of the page) I chose under target the "_blank" option. This tells the software that the linked page or file is to be opened in a new blank browser window. I then saved the page (re-saved it over the existing file) to incorporate the changes. After this I proceeded to navigate through the website and everything works great.

Captured NTSC video looks small in Canvas window

Often, when we capture video into FCP (version 4.5), the clip comes in at 50% of it's original size (that's how it looks in the canvas window and on the NTSC monitor). We have looked at a number of sequence settings and have not been able to rectify the problem.
We are capable of scaling each or the clips up to 160% of the original size and the clips will then fill the frame as expected. There does not seem to be any degradation in the video when doing this, but obviously we are doing something wrong and our solution is a long way from elegant.
In certain projects or sequences the video will be captured into FCP and be the normal size, but we have not been able to figure out what is the difference between these projects and sequences.

Use the DV/NTSC easy preset to capture your DV material. If the material is recorded as anamorphic, use that preset.
Capture the video using the same DV/NTSC easy preset that you used to create the project.
Drop the clip into a sequence created using the same DV/NTSC easy preset..
The clip will fill the NTSC external monitor screen.
Set your Canvas and Viewer windows to Fill to fit.

My Canvas window is green

Hey...I loaded up a SD format, ran ok in my FCP all looks normal in my timeline however, the canvas is "green" and does not show video but does have the audio...anyone? This is got to be a simple click of a button...I hope

I have a client whose Canvas window is also green.
So is his slug generator.
Since I started to investigate this issue I have found 8 different references to this FCP 5 problem in diferent forums without a definitive solution.
Any ideas when trashing preferences doesn't work?

Plug-in Window Position

Hi,
I felt frustrated with the Plug-in Window..everytime i double click on the plug-in that i've inserted it'll auto prompt at the Upper-Left of my Display (Monitor Desktop Screen).
How c'ld i do the setting as everytime i double click on the Plug-in and it'll auto place at the Centre of my Screen?

This touches on my problem with Mac windows in general. Does anyone know of a third party fix for Apple's inability to properly and consistently handle window size and position? For instance, compare Safari and Firefox - Firefox is the way windows should operate and Safari is the way they should not. Mail, on the other hand works correctly. I don't understand why Apple can't fix this glaring error - after all, they just about invented the concept.

Fcp 7 Canvas window zoomed out

Starting a project and the canvas window is zoomed out. Both canvas and viewer are at 25%. Viewer looks perfect viewing the file in the browser. I've had this problem before, but couldn't figure it out. I hope its an easy fix. Thank you!

Set the scale of the display in the canvas by click on the left hand button at the top of the canvas and selecting the size of display you want. You can also select "fit to window" at the top of the list of scale sizes if you want it at maximum size.

The image in the Viewer and Canvas windows are 1 to 2 apperture too dark. When I convert a timeline to .mov file into Compressor or Quicktime converter, has the picture (movie) the right exposure ...

Mail Not Remembering Window Position of Previous Session

Mail has started forgetting how its main window was sized when previously using the application.
When I open Mail, the window dimensions are like those for a small screen - not as previously sized.
Is this a known problem (could not find with discussion search) and is there a fix? Thanks!

Interestingly, Mail does seem to remember the window positions, in its com.apple.Mail.plist, but it isn't applying the remembered positions. I tried a few times, and on at least one try it got the positions correct. Could it be that if you quit, restart then quit and restart again it will have them right on the second restart?

Artifacts in Canvas Window!

I just upgraded from 4.5 and have begun working on a project that was initially edited in 4.5. However, whenever there is lots of motion within the frame I am seeing vertical lines through the entire Canvas window almost like streaks through the image. When there is little or no motion at all the image is fine and quite pristine. I am viewing this through a 23" Cinema HD so it shouldn't be a problem and I have a 2.0 Ghz Dual Core G5 that should be able to handle all of this video as well. Any thoughts would be great.

First, don't judge quality without viewing on an external NSTC (or Pal, if you're in PAL-Land) monitor.
Second, for projects that originated in FCP HD or before, in Sequence Settings > Video Processing, selectFastest for the Motion quality, rather than Normal or Best. That affects Motion tab effects, so it might help, or not.

Final cut express hd desktop canvas window

Hi everyone. I recently noticed something in FCS Express that may be a glitch.
The border on the right side of the canvas window that is supposed to be black...is purple! It's annoying because the left, top and bottom of the canvas window is black like it should be. Anyone else have this problem? I'm hoping I won't have to reinstall. Thanks in advance, Al.

Ok this is what I've noticed. When I look at the viewer window the left side looks like old film sprockets. That's what I think the right side of the canvas window is supposed to look like instead of a purple vertical bar because when I resize it to 50%, it remains! Probably a software glitch or something. I think I'm going to reinstall FCE. Peace.

Bad Video in FCP Canvas Window. Normal?

When I am scrubbing through the Canvas Window, I am get lots of distorted video. I posted a couple of screen captures to my Mobile Me gallery as examples.

I am running a 27" Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM and 512 MB of video RAM.
I just recently upgraded to this current iMac from a '07 24" iMac. I did not have these issues with my old iMac, so now I am worried I may have a bad video card on my hands.
I have the most recent updates to FCP 7 installed.
Any ideas?

I have posted screen captures of my Sequence settings and clip properties in the gallery I linked to above.
I do not have exact answers yet for what is happening in the Viewer window or QuickTime Player. I tried scrubbing through a clip in the View window, but FCP crashed before I could see any results. I have not fully test QuickTime player yet.
I can add that this problem only seems to occur while scrubbing. Simply playing video in the Canvas window does not yield any bad results and everything looks fine.
Also, I moved all FCP folders and media to a different drive. That did not correct the issue.
And I have discovered that once the issues occurs I cannot render any video. Attempting to render video results in the message "Error! Out of memory.", which I assume is not a good sign.
