hi,
it seems there is some problem with the bean class whcih you wrote.Check the bean class and make sure that everything is fine like whether it implements SessionBean interface etc. If you are not able to find anything wrong. Check with examples available on net otherwise post your code and deployment descriptors.

How to compile .ejb files
Hi,
I want to compile .ejb files generated through weblogic workshop 8.1, jar it and need to deploy it through Ant scripts(all three tasks). Can anyone help me in doing that?
Thanks,
Adwitiya Nigam...Compile with javac task.
<javac classpath="" destdir="" includes="" srcdir=""/>
Create a jar file with the jar task.
<jar basedir="${build}" includes="" jarfile="ejb.jar"/>
Copy jar file to the deploy directoy applications.
<copy file="${dist}/ejb.jar" todir="${weblogic.deploy.dir}"/> -
Problem in deploying EJBs (More than 390) in weblogic-BEA says JDK issue!!!
Our application had 390 EJBs before the current build. It was running fine on Weblogic 6.1-SP4 with JDK 1.3.1_08.
In the current build, 3 EJBs were introduced and the Weblogic server started giving deployment problems. We then came across the Weblogic Bug stating the magic Number of 390 and delegating it to a SUN Bug. But, contrary to the SUN bug which says of a OutofMemory issue, we were not getting any OutOfMemory error.
Then, just to test the 390 number, we cut downed on the number of EJBs reducing the number to 388, in a test environment. EJBs got deployed without problem. Then we added 3 EJBs (increasing the EJB count to 391), and Weblogic server started giving Deployment problem in a EJB which was one of the 388 that were running fine earlier.But, now also there was no OutOfMemory error. Then we removed one of the newly added EJBs to bring the EJB count to 390. The Weblogic deployed the EJBs without error(even the one which was giving problem when EJB count was 391).
So, 390 seems to be the number but, contrary to BEA problem ID: 035884 which delegates the problem to SUN Bug ID:4390238 (Incidentally SUN has closed this bug as Non-reproducable), we are not getting any OutOfMemory error.
My questions to the JAVA community are:
1)Is the problem really related to JDK or Weblogic?
2)If it's a problem with JDK, then what should be done to fix it?

problem ID: 035884 which delegates the problem to SUN
Bug ID:4390238 (Incidentally SUN has closed this bug
as Non-reproducable), we are not getting any
OutOfMemory error.Did you check the server logs? There might be an OutOfMemoryError logged.
My questions to the JAVA community are:
1)Is the problem really related to JDK or Weblogic?Apparently, the problem is with the Weblogic. Did you try deploying the same number on some higher version of Weblogic? (7.0 for instance)
2)If it's a problem with JDK, then what should be
done to fix it?Check the bug database for the same bug id. There is a workaround posted. The evaluation comments are also hinting at using the suggested VM options.

A Tip for using EJB 3.0 with WebLogic Ant Tasks
I started out writing this up as a problem, but then I found the answer so I'm, posting a tip instead.
When I tried to write an EJB [stateless] using EJB 3.0 in my legacy Weblogic ear project I started getting this error:
<pre>
No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'test'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
</pre>
This is why: wlcompile will put the class files in the App-Inf/classes directory unless it finds an ejb-jar.xml file in the META-INF directory for the module it is working on. With EJB 3.0, I wasn't using an ejb-jar.xml file because it was unnecessary. Later, Appc runs and it complains <b>because there are no classes module directory, they went into the shared ear folder instead.</b>
Here's I how it working again: Use javac [not wlcompile] to compile the EJB 3.0 module and make sure that the class files go into the correct module directory. Then you can use wlappc to generate all the associated files for the EJB. I have sucessfully deployed an ear file that uses both EJB 2.x and EJB 3.0 with this approach.
I wish Weblogic's own ejb3.0 sample application used their split directory deployment.
Good Luck.
John AronsonHi John,
I am working on development an enterprise application using EJB 3.0 on Weblogic 10.
While developing, I am keeping all my classes (from ejb's as well as web) into APP-INF/classes directory. It is working fine for Web and ejb 2.0 packages, but ejb 3.0 packages, I get the following error when I keep my ejb 3.0 beans classes in APP-INF/classes directory.
No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'customer'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
One solution is to keep the classes under customer ejb directory, but I wan tto keep all the classes in APP-INF/classes directory so that when using Eclipse IDE I can output all compiled sources into APP-INF/classes directory.
Has anyone faced this situation? Any suggestions to fix this issue? -
I've been experiencing a problem using jikes to compile EJBs. Has anyone
has this type of problem and is there a known fix?
The beans seem to compile fine, but I get an error when trying to deploy
them. Here's the error:
weblogic.ejb.common.DeploymentException: Unexpected I/O exception during
deployment:
weblogic.ejb.common.DeploymentException: Problem deploying a bean:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class:
com/criatech/contractstation/party/provider/PartyManagerBeanEOImpl_ServiceSt
ub, method: ensureInitialized signature: ()V) Illegal target of jump or
branch
at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Class.getConstructor(Class.java:886)
Thoughts?
- DougThat seems to be the problem. It only happens on one bean which is a very
large one. It appears to work ok with the javac 1.3 compiler, but no luck
with jikes. It's unfortunate, because jikes is SO much faster.
At least I know someone else is seeing this problem. Thanks for the info.

Hi.
This sounds a bit like a problem we were having when compiling one of the
generated classes for a bean with a huge number of methods (~400). The
ensureInitialised method (I think, it might be a different method now -the
name of the class changes in every WLS version) got so big that some ofthe
jump instructions needed to become wide jump instructions but both javacand
jikes got it wrong.
For us, the workaround was (and still is) to use kjc(http://www.dms.at/kopi/)
to compile the generated classes.
This may or may not be your problem, however.
Toby.

Problem deploying an EJB that uses the JCE 1.2.1 api
We are deploying a JAR file containing all EJBs of our application on
Weblogic 5.1 SP4 and we're getting a DeploymentException (which is
fully included at the end of the message).
We have no problem deploying the same JAR file on WebLogic 5.1 SP8.
We have isolated each EJB, so that one EJB is pack into is own JAR
file. We were able to deploy all EJBs but the one using the JCE 1.2.1
api.
Is there any issue using JCE 1.2.1 within an EJB under WL SP4 ?
As I mentionned earlier, everything works fine with SP8 ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

at weblogic.Server.main(Server.java:55)We are deploying a JAR file containing all EJBs of our application on
Weblogic 5.1 SP4 and we're getting a DeploymentException (which is
fully included at the end of the message).

Appc: ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException compiling ejbs
For the past few years, we have been developing on Weblogic Server 6.1 and for
our next release, we want to move to Weblogic Server 8.1. I have been working
on updating our build process so our existing code will compile using WLS 8.1.
Our build process is hand-crafted ant scripts for everything. The problem I have
is when I am compiling our EJBs. We have one large EJB jar file which contains
a mixture of session beans (local and remote), entity beans (BMP) and MDBs. Originally,
we were using the ejbc ant task to compile our jar file, but I thought it would
be nice to move off of the deprecated tool and use appc instead.
For some reason, the original developer/designer decided to hand craft the ejb-jar.xml
and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml files. This still exists in our code today rather than
using something like xdoclet-type tags to have these files generated for us.
(No, I don't like this, but it's the old 'momentum' problem right now)
Each time I run appc through ant, I get the following error:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 28
at weblogic.ejb20.dd.xml.DDUtils.createDescriptorFromJarFile(DDUtils.java:222)
at weblogic.ejb20.ejbc.EJBCompiler.compileEJB(EJBCompiler.java:374)
at weblogic.appc.compileEJB(appc.java:796)
at weblogic.appc.compileModules(appc.java:615)
at weblogic.appc.compileEAR(appc.java:727)
at weblogic.appc.compileInput(appc.java:457)
That's interesting, but unfortunately it doesn't tell me, personally very much.
My ant task is defined as:
<taskdef name="appc" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.j2ee.Appc" classpathref="ejbc.class.path"/>
<appc source="${jars.dir}/${appjar.ear}" verbose="true"/>
In this scenario, I was attempting to compile the EJBs after the ear was assembled
since from my reading of the appc documents (very lacking, btw) seem to indicate
this would work. I originally tried to compile just the EJB jar file by itself,
as our original build did, but I got the same error.
I even tried to use the original ejbc command we had defined and I still ran into
this same error. At this point, I have hit a block trying to progess. I tried
to search the bea site to find good docs on appc and what kinda of errors could
occur. Unfortunately, I was not able to find much more than just the basic usage
of this command.
Any advice on what to try next?
Thanks.
Josh BonczkowskiThere are no CMP beans in this project, only BMP entites and stateless session.
As far as I can tell, there are no duplicates.

Are the cmp fields defined in the ejb-jar.xml as they are defined in
the ejb classes
without
any duplicate declarations?

Problem in creating a build.xml for weblogic portal application
Team ,
I am facing problem in creating the build.xml using weblogic.BuildXMLGEN tool .
a) Below is the structure of my portal application
SrcCode
--- .metadata (eclipse plugins folder)
--- B2BApp ( Ear Content)
--- b2bPortal ( portal related file(controllers,jsp)
--- b2bsrc     (java src)
b) Now I executed below utility to generate the build.xml "
java weblogic.BuildXMLGen -projectName B2BApp -username weblogic -file build.xml -password welcome1 F:\srcCode"
c) Based on the above step , build.xml got generated .
d) when I execute "ant compile" target from the command prompt , I see the below exception
ant compile
Buildfile: build.xml
compile:
+[wlcompile] [JAM] Warning: failed to resolve class AbstractJspBacking+
+[wlcompile] [JAM] Error: unexpected exception thrown:+
+[wlcompile] com.bea.util.jam.internal.javadoc.JavadocParsingException: Parsing failure in F:\b2bNew\b2bPortal\src\portlets\b2b\dmr\Picker\PickerController.java at line 58.+
e) I suspect , the problem is bcoz of classpath issues , as I generated build.xml donot have the references to dependent lib's.As build.xml looks like below :
+<target name="compile" description="Only compiles B2BApp application, no appc">+
+<wlcompile srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${dest.dir}">+
+<!-- These referenced libraries were not found -->+
+<!-- <library file="p13n-core-web-lib" /> -->+
+<!-- <library file="jersey-web-lib" /> -->+
+.....+
+....+
Please help me to reslove these issues .
PS: I able to deploy the application using 10.3.2 weblogic workshop ( i.e inbuilt eclipse )i JaySen ,
thanks for your response. As mentioned we added all the necessary library within the -librarydir but still we see the same error :
+[JAM] Error: unexpected exception thrown:+
com.bea.util.jam.internal.javadoc.JavadocParsingException: Parsing failure in F:\b2bNew\b2bPortal\src\portlets\typeAhead\TypeAheadController.java at line 70. Most likely, an annotation is declared whose type has not been imported.

===================
a) this is a upgrade project [ upgrading from wlp 8.1.4 to 10.3.2 ]
i.e we are using weblogic portal 10.3.2 version.
b) Searched some sites/forums regarding the above error, and it says something related to "jwsc" ant task [ i.e while compiling a webservice(JWS) ], but we see this error while compiling a normal controller(jpf) class :(
c) we are using "ant compile" target which internally calls wlcompile task , while executing wlcompile this error is thrown .
Help Appreciated

While I'm able to deploy without the CMP 1-1 relationship, the moment I introduce the 1-1 relationship, I get this error. Database used is Oracle 10g XE.
I have been battling this error for more than a day now. Kindly help me fix this.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
VinodHi,
I was able to figure out the root cause. I was using the primitive data type "int" for primary key and foreign key for one of the beans in the relationship. After I changed it to "Integer" wrapper type, the issue got resolved.

Using EJB with Hibernate on Weblogic Server ADF platform
Hi all,
We use Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3
I tried to use Hibernate on my project according to this link well, EJB with Hibernate On Weblogic
I wanto use Hibernate tool because toplink and eclipselink can not achieve the issue about generating update* ddl on schema, they can just only re-create the tables -not real update.
Firstly i got the related jars from internet: http://www.2hotfile.com/di-LSBU.png
cglib-2.2
antlr-2.7.6
commons-collections-3.1
dom4j-1.6.1
hibernate3
hibernate-validator-4.1.0.Final
javassist-3.9.0.GA
jta-1.1
slf4j-api-1.5.11
slf4j-nop-1.5.11
Then i added to model project as library dependencies: http://www.2hotfile.com/di-GMSZ.png
configured persistence.xml as below:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
<persistence xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_0.xsd"
version="1.0">
<persistence-unit name="VakkoEJBModel" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL">
<provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
<jta-data-source>jdbc/VakkoDS</jta-data-source>
<properties>
<property name="hibernate.jndi.url" value="t3://127.0.0.1:7001" />
<property name="hibernate.connection.datasource" value="jdbc/VakkoDS" />
<property name="hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class" value="org.hibernate.transaction.WeblogicTransactionManagerLookup" />
<property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect" />
<property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="update" />
<property name="hibernate.current_session_context_class" value="jta" />
</properties>
</persistence-unit>
</persistence>

And i added to setDomainEnv.cmd that line:

@REM JAVA_VM - The desired Java VM to use. You can set this environment variable before calling
@REM this script to switch between Sun or BEA or just have the default be set.
@REM JAVA_HOME - Location of the version of Java used to start WebLogic
@REM Server. Depends directly on which JAVA_VM value is set by default or by the environment.
@REM USER_MEM_ARGS - The variable to override the standard memory arguments
@REM passed to java.
@REM PRODUCTION_MODE - The variable that determines whether Weblogic Server is started in production mode.
@REM DOMAIN_PRODUCTION_MODE
@REM - The variable that determines whether the workshop related settings like the debugger,
@REM testconsole or iterativedev should be enabled. ONLY settable using the
@REM command-line parameter named production
@REM NOTE: Specifying the production command-line param will force
@REM the server to start in production mode.
@REM
@REM Other variables used in this script include:
@REM SERVER_NAME - Name of the weblogic server.
@REM JAVA_OPTIONS - Java command-line options for running the server. (These
@REM will be tagged on to the end of the JAVA_VM and
@REM MEM_ARGS)
@REM

@REM This script is used to start WebLogic Server for this domain.
@REM
@REM To create your own start script for your domain, you can initialize the
@REM environment by calling @USERDOMAINHOME\setDomainEnv.
@REM
@REM setDomainEnv initializes or calls commEnv to initialize the following variables:
@REM
@REM BEA_HOME - The BEA home directory of your WebLogic installation.
@REM JAVA_HOME - Location of the version of Java used to start WebLogic
@REM Server.
@REM JAVA_VENDOR - Vendor of the JVM (i.e. BEA, HP, IBM, Sun, etc.)
@REM PATH - JDK and WebLogic directories are added to system path.
@REM WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH
@REM - Classpath needed to start WebLogic Server.
@REM PATCH_CLASSPATH - Classpath used for patches
@REM PATCH_LIBPATH - Library path used for patches
@REM PATCH_PATH - Path used for patches
@REM WEBLOGIC_EXTENSION_DIRS - Extension dirs for WebLogic classpath patch
@REM JAVA_VM - The java arg specifying the VM to run. (i.e.
@REM - server, -hotspot, etc.)
@REM USER_MEM_ARGS - The variable to override the standard memory arguments
@REM passed to java.
@REM PRODUCTION_MODE - The variable that determines whether Weblogic Server is started in production mode.
@REM DERBY_HOME - Derby home directory.
@REM DERBY_CLASSPATH
@REM - Classpath needed to start Derby.
@REM
@REM Other variables used in this script include:
@REM SERVER_NAME - Name of the weblogic server.
@REM JAVA_OPTIONS - Java command-line options for running the server. (These
@REM will be tagged on to the end of the JAVA_VM and

Compiling EJB files and Deployment Discriptor
Hi,
Could any body tell me step by step process of compiling EJB files and building deployment descriptor. I want to learn from scrap. I search on web but not found material that I need.
Actually I've made a simple EJB example now I want to compile and want to write a deployment descriptor for that using ant or javac.
You can also refer me tutorial describing the process form scrap.
Looking forward,
Regards,
AbbasiAlthough you could deploy each bean in a different .jar file , deploying them
together in an jar file produces a classloader arrangement that allows one ejb
class to refer to another ejb class. Packaging ejb jar files in a ear file produces
a common classloader for the ejb jar files.

Hi,
To build ejb jar files, we can include all beans (including bean class,
home,
inteface, and other java classes) of the application into one jar file.
Or we
can make ONE jar file for EACH bean (including only bean class, home
and interface.
NOT other dependent classes that will sit in weblogic server classpath).
I would like to know any disadvantage for second method in terms of memory,
class
loading, etc. Or any advantage for the second method

Deployment warning -- Compiled by different version of Weblogic Server?
####<Aug 23, 2001 12:17:54 PM PDT> <Warning> <EJB> <alpha> <admin>
<main> <system> <> <010004> <The EJB deployment named: registration
was compiled by a different version of the WebLogic Server.>
I'm using WLS 6.0 SP1.
I'm getting the above warning messages for every jar file within my
EAR file that I try and deploy. I can't figure out the source of this
warning. I get this message in any of the following compilation
cases:
* compiling with BEA's default javac (Sun's JDK version 1.3.0)
* compiling with Sun's javac (Sun's JDK version 1.3.0_02)
* compiling with jikes
The message seems misleading and doesn't make sense to me. Anyone
know why I'm getting this error message? Anyone else getting these
warning messages?

Could you please post this message on the ejb newsgroup.
The message does not seem to mean a different version of the java
compiler, but different version of Weblogic's ejb compiler -
weblogic.ejbc.
Were these EJB's compiled by a previous version of ejbc, say, the one from
51 ?
No, these EJBs were never compiled against a previous version of ejbc.
They were only created and deployed with WLS 6.0 SP1.
Also, please check the generated file inside the build\ejbcgen directory:
WLGENERATED to check which version of WL ejbc was used to compile it.
Here's contents of the WLGENERATED file:
#Wed Aug 29 11:04:33 PDT 2001
WLVERSION=WebLogic Server Build\:\t6.0 Service Pack 1 03/04/2001
22\:05\:05 \#
