Problem in connection to the database

Hi friends,
I'm new in this forum and also Oracle.
I installed Oracle 9i. Then I installed Oracle Suite 9i.
When I was installing Oracle suite, at the and, it asked me Hostname in directory usage configuration, I tried different things like "localhost", mycomputer name and so on but it didn't accept. Now when I open oracle form and I want to connect to database, it doesn't accept and exit from Oracle form.
Please write to me how I can solve this problem
Thanks

Did you configure SQLNET?
What error number did you get?
Try looking up the error number in the Oracle documentation on OTN.

  • Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

    Hi all,
    I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
    It says:
    Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.Database Instance (Green arrow)

    please see the attached file:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/404840300/em.JPGI've already checked all the services, they are running. And when I execute emctl command I got the following message.
    emctl status dbconsole

    Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
    My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?
    Thanks.
    Iman

  • Problem: Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance

    Hello,
    I've got problem with EM. When I try to connect to it I get the following error:
    Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.
    Database Instance, Listener and Agent are all green.
    Few more information:
    OS: Win7 64 bit
    -installed loopback adapter. I can ping my computer name (J-PC) without problem and it pings back 10.10.10.10 address.
    -I have set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID env variables
    -I can login to sqlplus with sysman account
    -emctl status dbconsole shows that the EM 11g is running
    I've been struggling for some time trying to get EM running as it should, but no luck so far.
    If you need any more info, do ask. Tnx.

    Hi,
    From the 10.1.2 BI Beans Install Guide it says:
    OracleBI Beans supports data stored in Oracle9i Enterprise Edition or Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. However, only particular releases and patchsets are supported:
    * Oracle9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, as follows:
    o 9.2.0.6 for all platforms.
    o 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only.
    * Oracle Database 10g Release 1 Enterprise Edition with the latest OLAP patch.
    From the error message it would appear that the Database is not one of the above.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Please note that we have follwing versions of DB up and running:-
    1)Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    2)Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning and Real Application Clusters options
    JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
    Pls let us know the solution to resolve this problem ASAP.
    Thanks.

    You are not using a supported version of the database. BI Beans/OLAP only support the following database versions:
    10g - 10.1.0.3 with additional OLAP patch
    9i - 9205 with additional OLAP patch
    9i - 9206
    I would suggest that you have not applied all the required database patches to your instance.
    Hope this helps

  • Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.

    Dear all,
    I have trouble to connect em console to database instance. My database is 11.2.0.3 and before this I did the patching from version 11.2.0.1, and now i cannot get fully functionality of em console.
    error is:
    Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.
    It shows that agent is connected, database and listener is up.
    I did recreation, dropping and recreating with emca, but no success.
    Did anyone have similar problems with em console?
    Regards,

    You need to first of all, Connect to the Database as SYSDBA (because your were not connected), then start the database (because it is not started).
    If you already used the username and password in the command prompt and you are sure that the database is already stared, then you need to set the ORACLE_SID before you open SQLPlus. This is because if SQLPlus does not know the SID you are connecting to, it simply thinks it is not up or has no service hence the message "Connected to an idle instance".

First DB when I have repository is ok and EM always connect with this, but I worked on another DB some time and was ok, but three days ago when I start EM I get message 'Enterprice Manager is not able to connect to the database instance'. When I couldn't resolve this problem, I make new DB and this worked two days ok, and today I get this same message. I don't make any changes in listener and tns files.
    any idea?

  • Best Practice for closing a blocking connection to the database.

    Background:
    Using toplink/eclipselink to manage the the connection to the database.
    We support 3 databases, Oracle, Mysql, and MSSQL.
    We host the an application locally (SAAS) and we also distribute it to our clients so they can run it on premise.
    Problem:
    From time to time the application will execute a route that query the DB and will take 10+ minutes. When we find these queries we generally fix them, but it takes time to fix the problem and roll new code to production. We have also found that if an end user executes the query to many times they can potentially bring the service down - maxing out the database connection, or putting a huge load on the DB effectively rendering the system to a crawl.
    During this time period the IT team need a way to abort a transaction. The current approach, for our SAAS solution, to scan the database find to the long running query and kill it. The application is smart enough to recover and everything seems to work fine. This doesn't always work for our on premise customers - often they don't have a DBA or adequate resources to monitor the system. Therefore, I'm looking for a way to have the application kill/close any query that is lasting longer then X minutes. We currently track the duration of every thread so I can get the time the thread has been actively running.
    Stack Trace
    Currently we keep track of how long each thread is running waiting for a response from the database such as the stacktrace below, I would like to grab the connection and physically close it. Since we are using a java socket and it's in a blocking state there is no way for us to interrupt the thread. The only option is to wait for it to receive a response from the db - kill the sql process - or to close the java socket.

    Question
    What is the best way to grab the connection and close it - from another thread?

    The reason for changing the namespace is to guarantee that they appear as different versions.  The namespace is part of the strong name of the DLL when deployed.  Yes they will be deployed to separate servers because a server can only belong
    to one farm.  But when you are doing a migration it won't be clear that you need to install the 2013 version since the .DLL will report that it exists in the 2010 farm already. It will work without changing the namespace, but it would be best to differentiate
    versions at that level to avoid confusion.

  • Problem in connecting to Access Database.

    Hi,
         I am new to this Java/JSP Concepts. I am using IBM Websphere Studio(Application Developer 5.1.2). I am facing a problem to connect to the Access database. I have written a java file to connect to the Access Database. When i compile my java code and run it. It was working fine and i am able to insert into the Access database.The java file is working fine without errors. But when i create an object in the jsp and called the methods through that object i am getting "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver", "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver", "java.lang.NullPointerExceptionexceptions" exceptions.
    Please help me in solving the problem.
         My Java code is :
    package myPack;
    import javax.sql.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class DB_Connect {
         private Connection con;
         private Driver driver;
         //private String connectStr ="jdbc:odbc:MS Access Database;DBQ=C:\\Movie_Club.mdb";
         public void initialiseDrivers(){
              try{
                   Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
                   System.out.println("driver found");
              catch (ClassNotFoundException e){
                   e.printStackTrace();
                   System.out.println("driver not found");

    //"jdbc:odbc:MS Access Database;DBQ=C:\\156761\\Movie_Club.mdb");
    //"jdbc:odbc:MC","",""); I have tried with both of them they are working.
              catch (SQLException ce){

  • Can't get connected to the database

    Hi There,
    I am a novice to Oracle. I recently installed Oracle 9i Personal Edition in my PC. I also installed 9i Developer suite, however i'm having problem connecting to the database everytime I run for instance, Form developer, report developer or Desginer. I get A Network dial up box. It ask me which network connection I'd like to use. It seems that the applications offered by the 9i Developer attempt to connect into server and in fact I'm runing the database on my pc not from a remote server.
    I appreciate any help regarding this isssue.
    Thank you
    Ayache.

    Step 1 : If you have several Oracle Homes at your PC you have to choose as primary Oracle Home the Oracle Home belonged to the Oracle Server. Do it so:
    SELECT START> PROGRAMS> Oracle Installation Products> Home Selector
    Step 2: tell me how many databases you have created and what are the SIDs of them.

  • Application cannot proceed. Internal error occured. Contact your administrator. Error msg: Unable to connect to the database. Please make sure the database information specified in admin/includes/config.php are correct.

    After clicking in email link, I get the following message on Firefox page : " The application cannot proceed!
    An internal error occured. Please contact your administrator and describe the steps you took before you encounter this error message.Error msg: Unable to connect to the database. Please make sure the database information specified in admin/includes/config.php are correct."
    The email asked to install the latest Adobe Flashplayer version to have it working. I installed it, also updated my plug-ins and checked in safe mode that the extensions were not the problem. I also deleted the cookies an cache. Nothing seems to be working so far. I have the lastest version of Firefox 8.0.1 as well as Roboform 7. I noticed that the latest Firefox version has (x86) tagged to it. Does it refers to an 86 bits because my computer uses 32 or 64 bits only. I tried also different browsers and the message kept appearing. How do I resolve this problem?

    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • URGENT!!!!!!!! Tomcat 5.0 does not connect to the database !!!!!!

    We had an already existing system on tomcat 4.1.18. Since migrating to Tomcat 5.0, we are facing lots of problem while trying to connect to the database. The database in SQL Server 2000.
    The first time i try to connect (after restarting tomcat service) the system is able to connect to the database but after sometime it again stops connecting.
    The beans on our system are able to connect to the database without any problem but when we try using the same via http, it doesnt connect. The classpath is set properly. Also the database drivers are also the latest ones and in the proper place. We have placed them in the common/lib folder. We have checked that normal jsp pages which are not connecting to the database are working fine.
    Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance

    well.....Tomcat is not a database connecting engines.....U would need to check your db connection codes to check if you have missed anything.....so the first question will be
    1. How do u connect to the DB
    2. Which type of JDBC drivers are u using.
    Finaly, tomcat is not at fault...its the fault of you configuration
    Cheers,

    Yes i am on x86_64 bit Windows 2003 SP1, 4.6D kernel is running in 32-bit mode.Database sits on a diffrent host and is upgraded to Oracle 10.2.0.2.
    In that case , do i need install PREPARE in 32 bit mode so that all executables in put\exe will be working in 32 bit mode.
    Could you please also look into note,
    906205 - Upgrading SAP system <= 4.6 on x86_64 Windows
    Actions after PREPARE (before you start the upgrade)
    1. -
    2. Unpack ORACLE Client 10.2 into directories \usr\sap\put\exe and \usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run.
    a) Mount the CD which contains the ORACLE 10.2 client software and change to subdirectory OCL_WINDOWS_X86_64.
    b) Start a command prompt and change into directory \usr\sap\put\exe.
    c) Type 'sapcar.exe -xvf <DIR>\OCL10264.SAR'.
    d) Start a command prompt and change into directory \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\sys\exe\run.
    e) Type 'sapcar.exe -xvf <DIR>\OCL10264.SAR'
    As per the note, 64 bit client has to uncarred "After Prepare before Upgrade", since the tools in /usr/sap/put/exe are not able to connect to the database since they are in 64 bit mode, and my Initialization phase fails, i uncarred the client into put/exe during PREPARE.
    Please guide. What problems should i anticipate in the PREPARE phase when it builds shadow instance.
    Govind.
