Problem in CS5.5 print driver settings

I have just upgraded to CS 5.5 and when going to print settings the no color management dialog is greyed out. How do I get this back to the drop down choice of color management or off no color management because it appears the driver is double managing. Thanks

How are you doing the Punch Ins? If you do them as in the Help instructions you should be able to Monitor before/during and after.

  • CS6 cant save the printer driver settings

The problem is similar to this http://forums.adobe.com/message/4431235#4431235
Illustrator simply does not save any of the settings in the driver tabs (such as custom print sizes, paper tipe, source tray etc) unless I hit the Print button (e.g. I cant save those settings temporarily by pressing the Done button nor I can save a print presset for a later use), and that is a very very very annoying thing an it brings back some memories of the time I upgraded to CS and CS2 and the case then was even worse because it didnt save the printer driver settings even by printing and allways reverted to the default settings, and now I remember why I hate Adobe so much, because they never had a fix for that until CS3 came out.
That issue has been tested with XP 7 Vista both 32 and 64 (a lot of printer drivers) and it is not a single configuration problem, so please before asking some questions about the kind of the system and software etc do the following with your CS6 (or CS,CS2) and please tell me what happens. Choose File->Print and in the dialog choose whatever printer you have, press 'Setup...' button in the lower left corner, ignore the stupid prompt that some unknown Adobe genius tech invented, press Preferences button in the new Print window that pops up and in the printer driver UI window choose whatever setting you like that differs from the default setting, and then press Ok then Print and in the main Illustrator print dialog pres Done (but not Print if you are in CS6) button to close the dialog. Then open the Print dialog window again, navigate to the printer driver you just adjusted and please tell me what settings you have - those that you adjusted or the default settings. Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the responceq Johny_07, unfortunately it solves the problem only if I have to specify the size of the media, but I need to specify the source tray, paper type and so on, parameters that are not present in the dialog box, and those are not remembered by Illustrator also. Do you experience that problem, I have allways wondered why there is no info concerning that problem, is it happening only with my instalations or it is a general program bug.

  • Print Driver Settings Not Saving at Print Dialog [IDCS3, Vista]

Hi. On our only design machine that runs Vista, when the user tries to print something from InDesign CS3 and has to turn on duplexing in the printer driver setup, on clicking OK, those settings immediately go away, and thus the document will not print duplexed. It works fine on our XP machines.
A workaround is to set such printer driver settings via Vista's Control Panel, and this does work, however it's a bit cumbersome, since we print all kinds of documents.
    Pertaining Specs:
    - Adobe InDesign CS3 (5.0.3) for Windows
    - Vista Home SP1 (I think)
    - Konica-Minolta Bizhub C500
    - EFI Fiery 2.01 Driver for Vista / PostScript / Image Controller 405
It's similar to this issue, but the specs differ:
    Michael C Stone, "Indesign documents reset printer settings IDCS2 XPSP2" #, 14 Jun 2008 5:19 pm

It does say, "Double-sided: Yes," in Windows' printer properties for the Bizhub PS (and PCL) Fiery driver(s) -- in fact, this may have been from me turning it on for the PS driver in Windows Registry, as it was off for some reason, but seemed to make no real difference anyway -- but I think the duplexing option would have been grayed-out in the Fiery driver's dialog if not available as some various other options are -- the driver has the capability to poll the device for such options availability -- and I don't actually see anything duplexing-related on the Installable Options tab, but the Installed list is identical to one of our XP computers with no apparent issues with printing to the drivers from InDesign -- although at one point, if a Vista user printed an InDesign document and saved it (and thus the printer settings), XP users for some reason couldn't print the document without forcing a change in the print driver settings, but I believe this was due to using the same drivers but different TCP/IP port configurations per machine (Vista doesn't need the IP_ prefix as XP seems to).

  • Change print driver settings on canon printer to select one or two sided printing

My Canon print driver prints double sided by default. I want to change to single sided, or be able to select single or double on a per document basis. How do I change my print driver settings?

Here is the solution I used.
The Print driver for Canon, UFRII will default to double sided printing.
Select a document, and select Print.
Open Presets and select Show Presets (this step may not be necessary)
Open Layout, then open Finishing. Change Prunt Style to One side or one page
Open Presets and Save Current Setting. At this point you can change the name of the preset (one page) and select if the chafe is for only the selected printer or all (Canon) printers.
This sure seemed harder than it should be.

  • Epson 3800 Leopard printer driver settings

    Hi,
I know that many people here have had success with the new v6.5 3800 printer driver available on Epson's UK web site. I too find that it's working well, however some of the setting aren't ovbious and I was hoping that someone could shed some light.
I'm not in front of my machine, so please excuse any minor inconsistancies.
    1) From the "Colour" Pane, I can choose either ColorSync or Epson Color controls. I find it odd that "No colour management" isn't an option here. Furthermore, later in the evening these two options became greyed out, and I couldn't find any way to reactivate them. What's happening?
    2) The "Print Settings" pane also has color controls. Here, we can choose between "No Colour Management" and a series of Epson picture styles such as Vivid photos or, very oddly, Adobe RGB. The choice of this setting has no effect on the "greyout-ness" of the ColorSync Options above.
My problem lies in understanding how these options are tied to each other. For example, I can choose "No colour Management" from the second pane but then choose "ColorSync" from the first. Which will take priority?
It's also not clear to me how you *would* let the printer manage the colours. The second pane doesn't have a simple "ColorSync" option, either you have no colour management or you have the Epson print styles, neither of which are what is required.
Choosing to let the printer manage the colours or not from the Lightroom print settings doesn't seem to make any difference either. I thought that this was now all tied together some how in the latest drivers.

I'm based in the UK and testing the new Epson driver for the R2400 and seeing exactly the same bugs, errors, feature (take your pick) as you are.
This testing is on a clean testbed partition containing OS 10.5.1, Lightroom 1.3 and Creative Suite 3 with latest updates installed for all applications. Printing from Photoshop C3 under 10.5.1 via the new driver appears to work, not tested other applications in suite yet.
This seems to point to a Lightroom bug but that's just my opinion.
Profiles I'm trying to use are custom made using the i1Match software v3.6.2 and worked fine in Tiger for all applications including Lightroom. This really is getting tiresome, why can't people simply work on improving what we have rather than trying to redesigning software that we have come to trust and rely to earn our living. Yes there are alternatives but I've just settled into our new workflow, of which Lightroom plays a major part.
Hope someone can shed light on these issues and possibly supply us with an idea of a fix. I was wondering if Jeff Schewe or Ian Lyons have tried any of these combinations and have any information on the situation. Guys???
Here's hoping for an early Christmas pressie!

  • Problem installing HP Printer driver hplip-3.10.9

I am trying to install the printer driver for my HP Laserjet p1102w (hplip-3.10.9.run).  The program starts then stops with the error "TabError:  inconsistent use of tabs and spaces in indentatiion".   I did some research,  but it could not resolve the issue. I think it has something to do with the way python handles tabs?? I did not have any problem installing this on my Fedora 13 desktop. Not sure how to proceed.
    Thanks!

I have used the suggestions given, and I still can't get the printer driver to load. I did check the /var/log/cups/error-Log and found th following:

There is a missing newline at the end of the string output from

  • MS Project - Printing to dimensions larger than max print driver settings

I have a large (2000+) task Gantt chart but no wide-format printer.
I've tried printing to PDF - the tasks, durations, start, finish & resources columns show but the bars don't and the data replicates 4x so I end up having to mess with the file, deleting the extraneous pages, before I send it out for review, anyway.
I tried downloading a wide-format printer driver simply so I could select that printer as my 'default' and set the printer to 'print' to 24x36 while I work with the document, but can't install it because I don't actually have a wide-format printer on my
    network.
    Two questions:
First:  How do I get the bars to show in a PDF print?
Second:  How do I set the print area larger than my max paper size of 17x11?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much for your response, Guillaume.
The issue is that I only have standard sized printers available to me.  The drivers of these control and restrict the 'print' size of the PDF file.  I had already selected the columns, etc., but could not get the right-hand part of the document
to appear no matter what settings I changed.  I tried manipulating the columns printed, the page size, etc. but nothing worked.
Additionally, no matter what else I did (and I suspect it had to do with the program attempting to print the Gantt bars) I ended up with multiple prints of the document within my finished PDF.  Meaning I had to use the Professional version of Adobe
to go back and delete the 50+ pages I didn't need before I could distribute what was useful to everyone else on the team.
I did manage to solve this issue by downloading a wide-format printer driver (even though we don't have a wide-format printer on the network, which was a feat in and of itself!).  Now I can choose the non-existent printer as my default when I'm working
in / on this document and can print to PDF on a virtual 36" page - showing everything (in little tiny mouse print).  That will be my next challenge - but I'm more than halfway there!

  • Problems adding USB printer - "Driver not installed" - but it is

Apparently, 10.3.9 has some problems with USB printers. For the record, I had already installed this earlier prior to the upgrade and everything worked fine - but due to crashing due to a faulty power supply - I've had to re-configure everything.
I, and many others in this forum, have found a strange problem when trying to add a printer (And yes, other people have asked about this but I haven't seen any answers at all that are useful. The only possible solution seems to be "upgrade to 10.4" and that is unacceptable. Does Apple check these forums?).
After clicking "add printer" in the utility, the software finds the correct printer (so obviously the physical connection to the printer is OK) and displays it with a question mark over it's icon and "driver not installed" next to it. I can't select this image or text.
After searching for a couple of minutes, a dialogue box pops up saying "New drivers detected. Do you want to reload the browser?" (I assume the printer setup utility is the "browser"?).
I click yes and nothing happens. No PPDs show up in the list. This happens when I select USB as well as Apple Talk from the printer-type pull-down menu.
How can I start printing again?

    First, welcome to the discussions.
For the record, Apple does not normally respond to these Forums.
You mention (Due to Crashing) Whenever you have an issue with your machine it can disrupt in almost any area, and is normally caused by SOMETHING.
As of right now it would appear you might be chasing your tail.
When you choose to upgrade your Operating System there is No Guarantee that your Printer and it's drivers will work on another completely different Operating System.
Your best bet at this point is to drag all of your printer related folders to the trash, empty your trash, and plug your USB Printer (What KIND) into your machine directly.
Shut your machine clear OFF for a minute or so and do the same to your printer, pull the power adapter from it.
Now plug in your printers Power Adapter, Plug in the USB to your Printer to your computer and restart it.
Take the Disc that came with your printer and re insert it and download the Installation Folder and any utility folder that may come with it.
After you have done this don't try to print, Go directly to your Printer Manufactures Web site and search for the latest updates to your printer and the Operating System you are using.
These will more often than not download to your desktop.
You must drag these to the setup folder and or the utilities folder and then double click them to launch them. after you have completed this your printer should work.
One other thing, If you have Classic and or OS9 on your machine you might have to do the same for OS9 Applications , and Utilities for it to print in Classic. Don

  • Problem in installing printer driver!

try uninstalling all the drivers you just installed for your printer and plug in your printer and run software update from the  on the upper left of the screen. if there are no drivers available for that, you might have to wait as suggested by your local apple tech.

  • Strange CS5 printing bug (reds pumped)

    Windows 7 64-bit, CS5 64-bit 12.04, Canon Pro9000 MkII.
Many/most files go back to CS4. I just started printing on CS5. I have a way to work around the bug, but maybe someone from Adobe will see this and duplicate and fix whatever the issue is. I can provide file(s) to duplicate.
I have noticed that CS5 remembers my printer driver settings application wide. I also notice that CS5 saves print settings in each PSD file. This may be contributing to the problem.
I open a file. 16-bit Prophoto PSD file.
    I open the print dialog.
The dialog is defaulted to printer color management.
Open the printer settings. Check the settings. The driver settings are correct. Paper, quality, no color management. Click ok.
Now the dialog changes to photoshop manages colors and the profile selected is some generic canon bubble jet profile.
I select the correct profile. A red river paper profile in this case.
    Print.
Bad print. The colors with some amount of red in them has the red channel pumped up. Many colors are okay.
Start with a new file (one not worked around).
Open file, change print settings. Close and save file. Open file. Print. Bad Print.
    Now the work around.
Start with a new file (one not worked around).
Open file, change print settings. Close and save file. Close photoshop. Open photoshop. Open file. Print. Good Print.
So it seems that my file(s) have some sort of saved print info that is confusing CS5 that persists until the file is saved with current settings and CS5 is closed. I never printed before on this installation so I have no idea what print info could be in the file. I did have a different Canon printer previously installed on this machine but never printed or opened the print dialog in photoshop. Photoshop probably noticed the "default" installed printer even though I never used it.
It is rather annoying to open a file, change print info, close file and photoshop and then reopen for all my files I want to print just to get around this.
    -Norman

Have you gone into the "Print Settings" dialog and turned off color matching in the Epson portion of the settings?
Are you running the most recent version of the driver? There is a combination updater to version 7.0 available as the first result at:

  • When I try disabling colour management in the printer driver, it keeps turning back on

I'm using Lightroom v2.4 and a Canon Pixma Pro 9500 printer with the latest driver.  I've just tried to print from Lightroom for the first time since moving to this latest version of Lightroom and when I go into print setup and turn off colour management, the driver doesn't keep the setting.  Nor does it allow me to do borderless printing.  My choice of print quality is also lost - this never used to be a problem.
This is very frustrating and means I must use Photoshop to print which takes longer when there is much to do.  Please can someone offer some advice. I can print from Photoshop without this happening.
    Thanks
    Joanne

Have you tried creating Print templates in LR? Available from the left panel
in Print module. That's what I do to make sure the printer driver settings
    stay the same.
Are you quite sure you have the latest 9500 driver?
    Eric
I'm using Windows XP SP3, and I have just one button at the bottom left of the
Lightroom print diaglogue window called 'Page settings', when you click this,
you can select the printer and go into properties, which is where I normally
disable colour management.  It is also refusing to print at standard quality,
but it defaulting to high quality (which takes a lot longer).
Thing is that I can print from Photoshop without problems and it's from
Photoshop where I do much of my printing, but printing from Lightroom is good
if I have a big load of prints to do as it's so much quicker to set up and it
    has the picture package facility.

  • Native printer driver (Mac)

I have a mac laptop which uses a Xerox driver with department accounting which pops up a prompt asking for a department number every time a job is printed.  This driver works perfectly in any other program, but when I print with adobe reader, it doesn't display the prompt and tried to print with no department ID, which fails when it gets to the printer since this is required.  From what I can tell acrobat tries to override most of the print driver settings itself, which is most likely what's causing this.  I even tried the "Print as Image" option, but had the same problem.  Is there any way to get Acrobat to completly use the native OS printer driver instead of its custom one which doesn't seem to support the Xerox accounting feature?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
you can try to exchange your "pstops" file by the one from 10.5.4 as described in:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1715794&tstart=0#8157481
At least this fixed a similar problem in my case which appeared with 10.5.5 (or the latest HP printer driver update - I am not sure, because I installed both updates at quite the same time).

  • B9180 problem b&w prints gets sepia tone

i've got a bit odd problem now suddenly after sometime using this great printer my black and white (b&w) prints gets a sepia (light brown/yellow) tone when printing it with just grayscale with grayink only
software when printing, Aperture 2 and ImageNest RIP 2
    any idea what's wrong?
    cheers/Tony

    Hi Tony,
The only thing I can think of is that you may be converting to your output profile prior to printing.  BW printing is a non icc process and ICC color management can cause what you describe.
If you are not doing this then it is either a problem in your printer of your print driver settings.  I use both Aperature and ImageNest myself and haven't had any issues.
Hope this was a help.  ImageNest has an article on it at:  It has the epson settings but it is the same for HP.  I called and asked:  http://www.bluecubit.com/adv-epson-bw-mode.php

  • Saving print dialog settings

I have a machine with adobe reader 6.0 in which different users are logging with different account.
If a administrator changes print dialog settings such as Auto rotate and center or Page scaling (Fit to page, Shrink page sizes) while printing a document, the same settings are not visible in print dialog of various users which log onto same machine.
Does AcroReader stores settings differently for different users ?
Where does it store settings in registry or a seperate settings file for each user ?
How can i have same settings (Print dialog settings) for different users ?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Xerox Print driver loads default driver

I have an issue with a Xerox 7845 loading properly on one machine.  The machine is running Windows 7 Pro x86.  The printer is on a print server and is working properly for all other machines.  I have installed another print driver on same
machine and that one loads the proper driver.  It just loads a default driver and will not load the proper Xerox WorkCentre 7845 PS driver.  When installing the printer from print server or locally it works on all the other machines I tried (all
    the same make/model/operating system)
    Troubleshooting step I've taken:
Removed device and reloaded printer - Also tried with a restart in between
Went into registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3" and removed all Xerox drivers
Tried to reload the driver on the print server - Printer says it has the correct driver but does not give me the correct printer properties (only the default Xerox Global Print driver settings) All the other machines I've tested on give me the proper properties
Downloaded newest driver from Xerox - Installed printer locally on machine, and again same issue with not showing the proper printer properties.
With all of these steps, I've ruled out it being a printer issue, and narrowed it down to just this one machine.  Would anyone have any suggestions or a solution for this issue?

    Hello Chad3456,
Thanks for posting in the TechNet Forum.
As this issue is related to printer server, to receive better support, it is recommended to ask in the Print/Fax forum.
