Problem in Domain Server for Cluster SAP installation

Hello,
SAP Production Landscape Information :
SAP Version: ECC 6.0
OS: Windows 2003
Database : Oracle 10.2.0.2
Production Server is in MSCS cluster involving two nodes.
Also, this is a domain installation and hence user SAPSID and SAPSERVICESID resides on altogether different domain Server.
Problem:
OS of u2018Windows domain serveru2019 has crashed. Hence, domain server is almost not usable.
Restart of it takes several hours. Repair of OS is tried by Microsoft without any success.
So this has resulted into communication problem between SAP Production server and Domain server. As an effect, restart of production server takes approximately an hour.
And hence I need some solution to resolve this SAP Server    Domain Server link.
Logically, following can be solution of this problem,
1.     If Current SAP Production can be made as Local Installation instead of Domain installation. (Basically, creating users locally and making SAP refer that)
2.     If above is not feasible then replicating domain server on new hardware and making SAP point to this new domain server.
However, I am not sure about feasibility and procedures for both of above cases.
Please let me know your views and any other solution for the same.
Thanks and Regards,
Nirav.

Hi Markus,
Thanks for your reply.
Possibility of converting domain installation to local is ruled out as MSCS cluster needs domain.
As you have rightly mentioned, I do have secondary domain sever.
For More information:
1)Domain details for primary server are
    Full computer name : APPL-SERVER.SHREE
    domain            : SHREE
as secondary server is kept shutdown, details are not available. (I can't run both server running simultaneously)
2)sqlplus "/as sysdba"
sql> select username from dba_users;
    TSMSYS
    OPS$SHREE\SAPSERVICEPRD
    OUTLN
    OPS$SHREE\PRDADM
    DIP
    DBSNMP
    SAPPRD
    SYS
    SYSTEM
3) In the services, mainly users are using SHREE\PRDADM & PASSWORD.
Client have tried shutting down primary and promoting secondary domain controller. However, after that SAP service were not getting started. But on again starting primary controller, start of SAP services were successful.
As can be seen in 2nd & 3rd point above,SAP database and  SAP services both refer to name "SHREE" which seems domain name and not to hostname.
So in this case, when I start secondary domain server (primary is shut down) then as SAP is referring to domain name, SAP's service should start.
However, that was not the case. SAP Services were not able to get started.
So, do we have to change anything in SAP as to make it point to secondary domain server.
Let me know your views.
Regards,
Nirav.

  • Common content server for 2 SAP systems

    Hello Friends,
We have configured a common content server for 2 SAP systems, say A & B using oac0 and csadmin, have set 2 content rep C1 for A & C2 for B resp. Please let me know if this is fine?
other thing is when i go to t-code csadmin on both the systems, for A - C2 displays customizing missing and for B - C1 displays customizing missing.but the systems are running fine and we are able to checkin documents
please let me know why it shows customizing missing?
    Regards
    Surjit

    Hi,
The customizing missing message is due to 2 different SAP system. Means when you activate the content server thru CSADMIN the certificate is used only one. Right! Now physical systems are two so in both the cases it will show one as customizing missing because no physical rep available for missing one. But these will work at it's own level fine because the one is available as a physical rep in each case.
Hope this will resolve the query.

    Thanks David.
During starting this managed server in cluster when I do tail -f <log_file_name> I can see this error message. But this message I can't see in log however ending log details- Is this something related with CLASSPATH problem?

THANK YOU for any help you can provide!

These are errors/warning because of incorrect connection pool settings.Either the database parameters were not configured correctly or there were some issues with the configuration itself.
Your server did start up correctly though.

  • Hi all problem with sql server 2008 in sap b1 2005 PL38,42

    Hello Sir,
We are also facing this problem. Our client has purchased SQL 2008 & we have installed SAP B1 PL 05 & also we have to upgrade it to PL 26 atleast for installing TDS Add on 4.8 so that Project runs smoothly.
Can u specify the status? i.e. at what stage is that upgradation? or by how much time this problem will be solved? Bcoz we are on the stage of test go live & we cant take back up of database of SQL 2008 & restore it in SQL 2005. We will have to do all settings in new company with database in SQL 2005.
    Pls reply at the earliest.

    Hi Nilesh,
I wonder how you got B1 installed properly on MSSQL 2008, as MSSQl 2008 comes with a new Native Client connection.
    Anyway I see two options:
    (1) Keep the system as it is, meaning no upgrades of B1 and pray nothing will happen as long MSSQL Server 2008 is not supported.
    (2) In order to get a supported environment the better option would be, to try a combination of CopyExpress and DTW and get all data and settings transfered into a new MSSQL 2005 based Database.
    Kind regards

Also, I am not clear about the domain parameter.... what should I pass for -Dweblogic.Domain=mydomain (this is what is there in the batch file that comes). Should I change this parameter for Managed servers, which points to Admin domain? If so, how do I do that?

-Dweblogic.admin.host=admin-ipaddr:7001, you shouldn't specify protocol. Also please use beta newsgroup for 6.0 related questions.

  • New Server for Preview SAP WAS ABAP and Java

    Hi
I wish to purchase a new PC or server to specifically house my ABAP and Java preview installations rather than have them running on an old PC and laptop.
Anyone out there got some recommended configurations?  Max spend will be £1500.
    Cheers
    Ian

    Ian,
Personally I wouldn't be happy running a server 24/7 at home but would want to just switch it on and the server start so would be looking to have some sort of script to run the relevant WAS instances automatically on startup.
160Gb hard drives would be ample. Could consider increasing the storage and then the system could double up as a backup device as well as a SAP server.
I've built systems in the past and that's the approach I'd take for this too. I don't mind buying pre-built systems but I
detest all the rubbish software they bundle with them. If you build it yourself you can install just Windows and it'll run like a dream.
    This bundle looks interesting:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-039-OK
The motherboard takes four memory modules so the 2Gb would consume two of these allowing for upgrades in the future if deemed necessary. Add in a couple of HD's, a DVD-RW, a cheap gfx card and a case and you'd easily get change from £800. Could spend a bit more to get more silent components too.
Now I've had a look around and priced them up I'm even more tempted!!!
    Cheers,
    JB

  • I want to cache all files in my web server for JRE auto installation

    Hi,
I have written an application for my customer. When they access my web server, they will auto-install jre 6.12 and then load my application using jnlp. All that is done, but i want to improve in the following ways:
    1. I want to have more quiet installation of java. It should only show progress bar or just run in background. In the jre installation file (cab file), there is a file jinstall-6u12.inf, the last line is "run=%EXTRACT_DIR%\jinstall.exe /installurl=http://localhost/1.6.0_12-b04.xml /installmethod=plugin". What should I add to this line to make the installation more quiet?
    2. When my client install jre, i want them to fetch all necessary files from my web server, so when java web site is down, i can still provide files they need to install java. I am aiming jre 6.12 only.
    Thank you in advance.

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilitiies > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
In AirPort Utility 6.x.....click Edit to the right of the Time Capsule
In AirPort Utility 5.x.....click Manual Setup
Click the Disks icon/tab at the top of the next window
    Click Erase
The "Quick Erase" option will only take a few minutes, but it is not a secure Erase.
The "Zero Out" option will replace everything on the disk with zeros, and will likely take 4-6 hours for the process to complete, depending on the size of the drive.
The erase procedure will only affect the disk. It will not affect any of the network settings, passwords, etc that you have stored on the Time Capsule.

  • ISSUES WHILE STARTING HTTP SERVER FOR A NEW INSTALLATION OF 10G AS

I installed 10g AS version 10.1.3.1. I am having this issue while running the installation:

Configuration assistant "Oracle Process Management and Notification Configuration Assistant" failed
I am using a staticports.ini file with the following values
    Oracle HTTP Server port =81
Oracle HTTP Server Listen port = 81
Oracle HTTP Server SSL port = 444
Oracle HTTP Server Listen (SSL) port = 444
I am not sure what the following are for and what values i should for them so i commented them
    #Oracle Notification Server Request port = port_num
    #Oracle Notification Server Local port = port_num
    #Oracle Notification Server Remote port = port_num
    #ASG port = port_num
Has anyone encountered this issue ??

Port numbers less than 1024 are privileged ports on Unix/Linux. In order for OHS to run on one of the privileged port (e.g. 81 and 441 in your case) you must enable OHS to run as root. By default OHS runs a non-root user, the user that installed Oracle Application Server.
So to start with installer do not specify custom (static) ports and complete the installation. OHS will be assigned some non-privileged port by installer. Post installation follow the instructions here to change the ports to 81 and 441:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/core.1013/b32196/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH

  • Problems with exporting display for oracle apps installation

Platform : RedHat Enterprise Server 4
I'm trying to do a 2 tier installation of Oracle Applications.
As part of the install, I need to generate a display that can be used by the applmgr user, but bellongs to another user.
When running the following command line, I get an error message.
    xauth -f .Xauthority extract - $DISPLAY | rsh -l applmgr localhost /usr/X11R6/bin/xauth merge -
connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
    Trying krb4 rsh...
connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
    trying normal rsh (/usr/bin/rsh)
    localhost: Connection refused
Does anyne have an idea? I've done some troubleshooting, but I can't figure out what is wrong.
I have added the following in the xmgr and applmgr's profiles
    DISPLAY=localhost:13
    export DISPLAY
The vnc server runs on display 13

  • Tnsnames problem on RAC server for Different Host Names

    Hi All,
We have RAC database setup and we are facing one issue on tnsnames.
    My Hostfile has these entries:
    127.0.0.1 loopback localhost
    # Public Network
    204.7.242.215 oradb1
    204.7.242.217 oradb2
    # Management network
    174.19.1.151 oradb1_mgt
    174.19.1.154 oradb2_mgt
    # Rac VIP
    204.7.242.216 oradb1-vip1
    204.7.242.218 oradb2-vip2
    # Rac HeartBeat
    10.10.10.1 oradb1-priv1
    10.10.10.2 oradb2-priv2
Where oradb1_mgt pointing to same host as oradb1 and oradb2_mgt>oradb2
Due to management issue, we need to use oradb1_mgt in place of oradb1 or oradb1-vip1 for standby database. So I've configured my Listener.ora as
    LISTENER_ORADB1 =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oradb1-vip1)(PORT = 1521)(IP = FIRST))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oradb1)(PORT = 1521)(IP = FIRST))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oradb1_mgt)(PORT = 1521)(IP = FIRST))
    and Tnsnames.ora as
    prd =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oradb1_mgt)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = aixdb)
    (INSTANCE_NAME = aixdb1)
But tnsping prd is giving error:
    TNS Ping Utility for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on 07-JUN-2007 14:28:18
Copyright (c) 1997, 2006, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Used parameter files:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
    TNS-03505: Failed to resolve name
What may be the solution for this. Its look like that, HOST = oradb1_mgt is creating problem as if I'm putting HOST = oradb1 or OST = oradb1-vip1, then its working.
    Regards
    Rakesh

I have signed applets but not with jmf. Your best bet is to put the applet in a jar and sign the jar. Most java runtimes with a self signed applet will prompt the user and ask the user if they want to grant permission. You probably have to use the java html converter to code your html to force the use of suns plugin. I am not sure if you have to sign the jmf jars or they may already be signed.

  • Problem-Starting InDesign Server for use with CORBA / Java and IOR file not generated

I'm trying to start Indesign Server cs3 for use with Corba, as per the document the server should generate the start-up message like this..
    InDesignServer -iorfile c:\ior.txt -pluginpath Server\Corba
[server] Writing IOR to ... and it should generate the IOR file
but I'm getting the usual start-up message and the IOR file is not generated, I hope IOR file is required for Java component interaction with IDS, kindly help me to solve this.
    Thanks in advance.

[From Susan Doan, who is having trouble posting to the forum today}:
It looks like the example command line in the "Intro to InDesign Server" pdf is using curly quotes instead of straight quotes. If you copy the command from the pdf and paste it in your command shell, it won't work because of the curly quotes.
You can run the command without the quotes as Rich has said, but, as will all command lines, if your path contains a space, you will need to put quotes (straight ones!) around the path.
    Thanks,
    Ole
