Problem in Double Tap

I use 13'' 2.5GHz MacBook Pro (early 2013)
Recently I am having problem with double tapping with both the trackpad and a mouse. Sometimes double tap works but most of the time it doesn't. All the other functions of trackpad are working except for one and that is double tap.
What should I do? Please someone help. FYI the problem is only encountered only in OS X Mavericks but works fine in windows 8.1.
OS: OS X Mavericks and windows 8.1 (Dual Boot)

  • Double Tap does not minimize window.

My problem is not major but is certainly irritating,
Double tapping the top of any window does not minimize them let it be a finder window or firefox but tapping/clicking the yellow button minimized them fine. 'Tap to Click' is enabled so thats not the problem. Double tapping an icon on my desktop for example will launch the file so i know its not a hardware problem. Is there something i need to enable?
P.S. I've already restarted my macbook pro with no avail
    Thanks!

Is double-click to minimize enabled in the "Appearance" system preference?

  • Nightly for android reflow problems: enabling reflow on zoom, disabling double tap zoom?

In the current Nightly for Android build:
    1) Page loads, but the font size is tiny
    2) Double tapping always zooms in to the same zoom level
    3) Zooming out from maximum zoom reflows back to minimum zoom reflow
    4) No way to reflow for anything between maximum and minimum size
So, is there a way to...
    a) Re-enable reflow on zoom, always reflowing the page to the appropriate zoom level
    b) Disable double-tap zooming, also allowing text reflow for any zoom level?

I have this exact same problem with the Nightly Android build, but I cannot for the life of me find the Accessibility settings. Could you please tell me how to get to the Accessibility settings?

  • Unable to Double Tap with TrackPad or B/T Mouse after 10.8.2 upgrade

    Hello:
Could some kind person possibly help a Mac newb?
For some strange reason, I am unable to Double Tap using *either* my TrackPad or Bluetooth Mouse immediately after upgrading my Mid 2011 iMac from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.8.2.  Single tapping on any file highlights the file name and double tapping the file name (not the icon) allows renaming the file (which I believe is all normal).  All other gestures appear to function normally - just can't double-tap TrackPad or double-click the Mouse.
    ALREADY TRIED:
Shutting down and removing all power cords and cables to the computer.
Removing the batteries from TrackPad & Mouse.
    Creating a new user account.
Reinstalling OS X 10.8.2 including updates 3 times.
Booting into Safe Mode then running Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions and Repair Disk.
Running Capture_Data.dmg and sending the files to Apple Support.
Apple Senior Advisor said that their Software Engineer did not notice anything out of the ordinary, but is now digging deeper.
    Deleted com.apple.Bluetooth.plist & com.apple.PowerManagement.plist per Apple.
Cleared browser cache & history, then emptied trash.
I am currently working with a Senior Advisor at Apple since 02.01.2013 (10 days) to follow-up on the same issue as a previous case opened on 01.14.2013 after upgrading the OS X on 01.12.2013.  Apple originally suggested that I take my iMac to the Apple Store for diagnostic testing, which I have avoided because everything was working fine before the upgrade and then I noticed the same issue with the my mouse.  I decided to hold off wiping the system clean, doing a clean install then migrating my data and settings from the backup until my Apple Advisor tells me if their Software Engineer discovers anything else after they dig a little deeper into the diagnostic report.  But that could take weeks and right clicking to open files is getting old real fast.  Besides, my Adobe CS6 apps rely heavily (if not entirely) on double & triple clicks, so I am paralyzed from using any of their products.
Since Apple said they have no reported cases like this, I have done a lot of digging on my own before writing this.  Sorry about the long post, but I was hoping to provide as much detail as possible to be respectful of everyones valuable time.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Doug Klimek

Problem Solved in less than 5 minutes - Thank you Travis @ AppleCare!
    SOLUTION:
Set the Mouse & Trackpad Double-Click speed to any value other than "Fast". The slider bar has 10 settings (1=Slow to 10=Fast) so I set mine to 9 and it works fine.  But your system may respond differently, so you might want to start with #5 (Middle) and go from there.  FWIW, the #10 setting (Fast) does work, however I had to use one finger on each hand because I couldn't tap fast enough with only one hand.
    HERE'S WHAT TO DO:
Click the Apple Logo > System Preferences > System > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Double-click speed > Drag slider to the #5 setting (Middle of bar) then tweak to your liking
    FYI ONLY:
FWIW, I had no Double-Click problems when setting the Mouse & Trackpad Tracking to #10 (Fast) as long as the Double-Click speed (above) was set to any value other than #10 (Fast).  I am only mentioning this to share what I learned.
Click the Apple Logo > System Preferences > Hardware > Mouse > Point & Click > Tracking > Drag slider bar to your liking
Click the Apple Logo > System Preferences > Hardware > Trackpad > Point & Click > Tracking Speed > Drag slider bar to your liking
Hope this information is helpful to anyone before consider wiping their disk clean and doing a fresh M/L reinstall like i almost did.

  • Is there a way to disable the ability to double-tap to create a straight line in Photoshop?

    Hi,
I have a problem in Photoshop CS6 where whenever my pen double taps the tablet, windows will do the "loading" circle where my cursor is, and I can drag the brush anywhere, and will still have control over the opacity and size, but once I let go, a hard line of 100% thickness and 100% opacity is created between the starting and ending points. Here is an image of what I am talking about:
    http://i.imgur.com/2yO1yIW.jpg
This is a very annoying problem when I am trying to draw, because often times I will finish one short stroke and begin another immediately, only for a blob of 100% opacity to appear. It happens to me almost every 2 minutes.
Now, I don't know if this is a problem with Photoshop, my tablet, or my computer. Does anyone know if this is a feature that can be turned off? Or has experienced this problem and has a solution? Thanks.
    Specs:
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    Photoshop CS6
    Wacom Intuos Pro
    AMD FX 8320 / nVidia 650 Ti Boost / 16GB RAM

Found a fix. It's not a photoshop problem, but a Wacom option. Go into the Tablet control panel > pen > set "double click distance" to Off. Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

  • Magic Mouse - three finger double tap dictionary - not working

A three finger, double tap on my Magic Mouse will not activate a dictionary definition in any app. All other mouse gestures work fine. The keyboard combination for that feature works fine too. How can I get that three finger gesture to work?

No workaround so far with this problem and also no posts in the Opera forums. Just have to wait until Opera includes this functionality in their next release.
In the meantime you can help by joining the forum (takes a minute) and posting your concern. The more people that join and voice their complaint the faster something will get coded into their browser.

  • Double Tapping causes my mouse pointer to shift or move.

I am new to Mac. I got a WHITE macbook 13" about three weeks ago and while I am learning to switch from PC to Mac I found out about the great options the trackpad can offer to make my switch easier, BUT I have noticed "and this is very annoying to me because I love double tapping" that when I double tap the mouse pointer shifts or moves a little bit. this might not be a major thing except for the fact when you are double tapping and the pointer shifts or moves slitly to select something entirly different. I know you don't have to double tap on the red, green, and yellow cicles on an open window but this example might help: lets say you want to close an open windows and you want to double tap on the red circle but the mouse shifted to double tap on the yellow circle instead. you get what I am trying to say....anyone can help me or tell me if this is a software problem or hardware problem...i have allready updated all softwares and i also played with the trackpad congirations.

I think it is a hardware problem. You might have someone else operate your computer and see if it performs that way for them. The trackpad is kind of a personal thing in that it is relying on the capacitive affect of your finger and we are all different. If it works poorly for another person I would suggest you take it to any Apple store and show them.
Another thing you might try because it does make a minor difference in track pad performance is to cut a sticky note such that it will fit flat on the trackpad. The trackpad should still work very well with the note if your trackpad is good, and it might even fix your problem.
And as you mentioned, you don't need to double tap the red 'close window' circle.

  • IOS 8 double tap allows other device with same Apple login to see who other is messaging

I have two iPhones with the same AppleID account.  The iMessaging for each device is set to only send or receive message and FaceTime from the phone number for each device to keep them separate.  If device A is in a text message and the home button on device B is double tapped a notification will be visible to show device A is in a text message.  Device B can then tap this notification and the person being text in Device A becomes available and a new message to that person is then opened.  Not acceptable.  I have tried to unlink the two devices in any way I now how.  No luck.  The screenshot below is what Device B sees if Device A is composing a message.

That's just the way it works, since you're using the same Apple ID on both. If you have a problem with that, go to http://apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Black Border and Having to "Double-Tap" on apps

I just got a new iPod, and I noticed that you have to tap a little harder than the 4th gen. I figured I would get used to it, but sometimes it doesn't even recognize me tapping the screen. I also noticed for these two apps: Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies, that there is a black border around the app and I have to double tap the right of the screen to hold the shoot button down.

You may have the accessibility VoiceOver feature or another one turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off and any other ones off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
    Next
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why double tap to open something? can't you just single tap?

I have just bouht an ipod touch four for my son.  I seems to have to double tap everything to opn up a screen. Is this right? The voice over telling me I have to double tap is annoying. I think it simply isn't responsive enough. Is there a problem with it? My daughter has a gen three and you only have to single tap. and yes aI am a techno novice!!!

You need to turn off voice over.  Go to Settings>General>Accessability and turn off voice over.
Yu can also turn it off by connecting the iPod to its syncing computer and going to the Summary pane for theiPOd in iTunes and clicking one Configure Univerdsal Acess and turn Voice Over off.

  • Why do I have to double-tap my messages to get them to open??

When checking my email, I have to double-tap each message to get it to open. WHY?? Just started doing this today!!

Thanks! Problem solved. I've had an iPhone for two years and never noticed that feature of iOS. Somehow, my son must have stumbled on it.
Apple, if you're peeking in on this, please put someone to work on making that feature more useful. There is no (obvious) way to scroll menus! Also, you should add a Voice Over command to disable that mode.
