could you describe more precisely where are you?
do you mean BIOS boot settings? if yes, you choose CDROM as first, boot and your systems start from CD disk.
what operating system do you use?
what console do you mean?

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

That's probably not a good idea to try to share apps since you will have to switch ID's each time you update apps and sync apps from iTunes.
And technically - according to Apple's terms - you cannot share apps using different ID's. You can actually lock yourself out of an ID for 90 days if you switch ID's and if you associate the iPad with another ID.

When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I have never heard of the term "S0" and "S1" for drives. Perhaps you mean sda and sdb.
Go into the BIOS, choose your equivalent of "Hard disk priority", move the drive that you want to boot first above the rest of the others, and then exit by saving the settings (usually F10). That should do the trick. Alternatively, you could open up the case and move the SATA cables around, but be careful if you use "sdx" name conventions in /etc/fstab.
    Thanks for the reply
I made up S0 and S1 for simplicity. sda and sdb makes more sense I suppose.
My BIOS does not recognize sdb in the priority menu, I'll try moving the SATA cables.

    Hey floridiansue,
Do you have an installed email program such as Microsoft Outlook?  If your email is through an online login, such as Gmail, etc, then one will have to create an email association with a program such as Microsoft Outlook on the PC for this Scan to Email system to function.

  • Odd problem with partitioning the disk-- it says it needs to be a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume, but it already is? (Screenshots in post)

I have a 1 TB Macbook Pro running Mavericks.
    My disk is a single-volume...
Here is the information on my disk:
And I'm trying to use boot camp assist to partition my disk, like this:
But when I do, I get this error message:
"The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved. Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."
It already is a single Mac OS Extended journaled volume.  Right? Here is an image from Disk Utility:
    Any ideas?

    Hey there!
It sounds like you are unable to install BootCamp due to an error that your some files cannot be moved, and to format your disk as a single volume, but you have confirmed that it already is. I would verify and repair your disk permissions with the following article next, if you have already restarted your computer and tried again:
Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph5821
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X.Software updates sometimes change a file’s permissions to improve security, so updating your software can solve some permissions problems.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Select the disk you want to check. You can verify or repair permissions only on a disk with Mac OS X v10.7 Lion installed.
    Click First Aid.
    Do one of the following:
Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions.
Click Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.
Disk Utility repairs the permissions for files installed by the Mac OS X Installer, Software Update, or an Apple software installer. It doesn’t repair permissions for your documents, your home folder, or third-party applications.
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next verify and repair the disk with this:
Disk Utility 12.x: Repair a disk

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Booting with DVD problem!!! Disk needs repair

    Hello,
Ran disk utility and I got the «disk needs repair» error. Please boot from install DVD
Okay no panic I try to do it.
First try holding C key and with the snow leopard DVD (retail not the one I got with the computer) = failure keeps me on the apple window
Tried it with the DVD I got with the macbook pro while holding the C key again = faileure keeps me on the apple window
The computer works fine except it tends to bog down
I'm running lion and my macbook pro is less than a year old
I also have Norton antivirus (because YES there are viruses again - anyway norton told me there were when I scanned my HD a while back -). I tried disabling it totally and tried the same things but to no avail...
Can anyone help? Have I overlooked something obvious? Or is somehting more complicated necessary?
    Thanks in advance

If you've installed Lion, the 10.6 disk won't help you. You need to hold down Command-R during boot to bring up Lion recovery ... you can then run Disk Utility.
Oh, and agree with Allan, dump Norton. If you want an antivirus, install ClamXav from http://www.clamxav.com

  • Move RAC database - need to format the disk storage having RAC and ASM

    Hello,
    Short story:
I need to format the disk storage used by a two nodes RAC with ASM.
How can I have the database working the new disk storage.
    Long story:
We decided to change the external disk storage formatting from RAID 5 to RAID 10.
Configuration is: 2 Solaris nodes having Oracle software installed on each node and running with ASM
    - node1: ORCL1 database and +ASM1 asm instances
    - node2: ORCL2 database and +ASM2 asm instances
Available is a NFS storage with plenty of space.
Please tell me which would be the easiest way to move the database?
    Thank you

    Thanks alot for your answer.
    1) There is more trouble: I also have the Voting disk and the OCR on the same (and only) SAN storage. Do you know about steps to backup/restore and/or recreate these?
As I said I have a NFS file system available with plenty of space.
    2) I will need to backup the database, which way would you recommend: RMAN or EXP ?

  • I have Lion OS but I need to format my disk. How to do it?

    Helpppp
I need to format my Mac book Pro
I have the OS Lion and it doesn't let me format the disk!

It is not necessary to create an external boot device.
Restart your computer while holding the option key. After the startup chime you will see your available boot volumes. Choose Recovery HD. (You might be able to start up with command-r to boot directly into the Recovery HD emergency partition, but I have found that only the most recent Macs will respond to this key combination.) Once boot is complete, look under the menu bar's Tools for Disk Utility. Start up Disk Utility, choose your main hard drive partition, and reformat to your heart's content.
You won't be able to perform certain partitioning tasks when booted this way, but you can do nearly everything that you could do if you were booted from an external device or optical disc.

I wanted to run Disk Repair, but the button would not highlight, therefore could not be started.
I retried today, and now the Verify Disk task won't even work, blocking Disk Utility (needs force quit)
(E=G4 is the name of my Hard Drive on the iBook)
I also tried TechTool Deluxe coming with Applecare protection plan, but TTD can not check the "Volume Structure".
Has anyone got any tips or sequence to solve this?
    Thanks in advance

    I just ran the Disk Utility, and cannot very disk. It gives me an error message;
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
and when I run the repair, this is the message:
The volume GERRARD could not be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
    Repair attempted on 1 volume
1 volume could not be repaired
Prior to running Disk Utility, I have already tried DiskWarrior, and could not repair my disk. Anyway I can fix this problem??? Formatting the disk would be my last option (though I am unsure if it will fix the problem). Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Meanwhile, I will continue to back up my file, and delete unused data and try to run it again.
Thank you all very much for any input.
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Can't format internal disk

    Hi
I have a Mac Mini from late 2012
I have installed a SSD and kept the old disk for data-storage (1 TB).
Both disk was originally formatted to "Mac OS - extended (Journaled)"
I installed the OS X successfully on the SSD - and everything is working fine on that.
BUT I can't access my data disk. I can see the disk - but I'm not allowed to edit or add anything to the disk.
I have tried a lot of stuff:
Taking the disk out of the computer and reformatting it completly with my Macbook Pro... with out any problems can access the disk and edit on it.
BUT as soon as I add it into the Mac Mini and boot up - the OSX sees the disk but won't let me edit/write to the disk.
    Gives error -50
I also tried writing to it from terminal as sudo - no luck.
I tried to reformat it in recovery mode ( and tried booting from USB stick)... BUT the system keeps saying that it can't format the data disk because it can't be unmounted...!
MY EXTRA DISK CAN'T BE UNMOUNTED.... ***!? (also tried unmounting from terminal... same errors)
It has no problems deleting the SSD disk....
-I'm using the well-known; OWC Data Doubler to connect my data disk to the secondary position in the Mac Mini
Please help... because I have no idea how to fix this. (Both disk can be wiped as needed - I just want a system with SSD and normal extra disk)...

    Thanks for replying.
My SSD is: Corsair SSD Force Series 3, 240GB 2.5"
I didn't know that you could change any firmware on the SSD it self... and Corsairs homepage do note write anything about it.
I tried to switch the two disk around.
Now it only sees the 1TB disk (apple original) and I'm not able to see the SSD (not even in the terminal)
So right now SSD is in the lower...
hmmm... if I had a problem with the cable or controller - would it throw this kind of error?
Next step; I'll try to install the OSX on the 1TB disk - just to see if the SSD will be reconized later.
    But still looking for help.

  • I can't empty the trash or format the disk on my macmini (2009)

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help. I deleted some old timemachine backups from my external hard-drive.
Since then I have been unable to empty the trash. I've tried 'trash it!', option>empty trash securely, restarting the computer, the terminal. Nothing has worked and unfortunatley I have no space at all left on my startup disk. I can't rename the files left in the trash either.
Luckily my mac is backed up so I decided to format the disk. When I go into disk utilities and click on erase and select the HD all the fields are faded out i.e. i can't select to erase the disk.
So I repaired the disk, verified the disk & tried again... no joy.
    Any ideas would be fantastic!

Okay, I solved the problem so for anyone who has the same issue, this might help:
The reason I couldn't empty the trash was because I had dragged timemachine backup files I no longer needed into the trash, which screwed everything up.
Here's a video on how to delete timemachine backup files properly.
So basically, I solved the problem by formatting the external hard drive in disk utilities through my mac mini.
