Problem in Installing oracle 11g in enterprise linux

Hello all,
Iam new to linux and oracle .... I had downloaded enterprise linux from oraclewebsite, My question is i was not able to install oracle 11g in enterprise linux...
And when i am trying to install ./runInstaller
iam getting error message (permission denied).
is that necessary to install oracle vm server or manager .. if so how to do it .. Please give me clear idea how and where to start..

The command
bash ./runInstaller.sh didnt helped. again got the error of bash: ./runInstaller.sh: No such file or directory

Oracle 10g supports redhat 4 and Enterprise Linux is redhat 5 so I changed the redhat-release to 4 to countinue setup but the above error appears, also I tried this configuration on SuSE 10 I changed the SuSE-release to 9 and went good.

The packeges are already installedIf you execute runInstaller again is the error message the same as before?
If yes can you post output for this command?
rpm -qa --qf '%{name}-%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n'|grep -i 'libxp'

Problem with install oracle on OEL5.3 linux

Have some strange problem with oracle enterpise linux 5.3 32 bit, during install Oracle 10gR2 got link errors,
after founded what is problem with linking oracle executables:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
relink oracle
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lskgxn2
all depended rpms and parameters are set, looks like missing some library, but cannot recognise with one.
Have somebody spoted souch error ?

The zipfile on technet has a checksum:
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) for Linux x86
linux_11gR1_database_1013.zip (1,844,527,800 bytes) (cksum - 1044354138)
When the zipfile is downloaded, you can check the zipfile on linux with the cksum command, it should be exactly the same as listed on technet, otherwise the zipfile is corrupted.

Installing Oracle 10g on Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5 Media Pack for x86_64

I'm trying to determine whether the required rpm packages are installed on the new EL 4, and it seems after running the query using the # rpm -q there are packages missing.
According to the install section from the Doc Library these packages must exist in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 for 10g to install successfully. My guess is, if RHEL 4 needs to have it, then Oracles Unbreakable should too... right?

Problem with installing Oracle 10g on Suse Linux

Hi everybody!
I downloaded Oracle 10g Express from this url:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html
it is free version for developers.
I copied it into computer where was installed Suse Linux Enterprise Edition.
But when I run it shows this kind of error:
error: rpmReadSignature failed: region failed: BAD, tag 15872 type 2047 offset 20480 count 4096
error: oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed
It was downloaded without any problem. But checksum is different from that shown on website. I think this is the problem.
What is the problem? Does anybody know answer?

Yes, you appear to have a bad copy.
I have not had a problem when the check sum matched. Therefore I encourage you to download again.

to see you need at least "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.0".

I had installed RHEL 4.. Actually i am installing oracle 11g XE in linux.. When installation completed successfully.. i can see that the oradata folder is empty and cant see any of the ".dbf " files installed during the process. The folder named "diag" is also not installed... i had uninstalled the rpm and installed twice..but the issue remains the same...

Need steps to install Oracle 11g XE on fedora linux 14 on VM ware. I tried methods that are posted but oracle got installed but it is not working need some proper steps to install, I have done the installation on windows its but am new to linux. Please suggest me.

Now I want to install Oracle 11g on it. But there are no Oracle 11g downloads for Linux for Power.
Is there any workaround so Oracle 11g can be installed on Linux on Power?

I think you can forget it. Oracle 10g R2 was the last version supported on Linux PowerPC.

I ran into problems right before I reach the Installation Options Screen
The error message is:
Unable to establish a network connection to proxy server. Specify the correct proxy details.
I have tried entering the correct Proxy server information but it gives me the same error.

I am trying to install oracle 11g in Fedore 8. The problem I am facing is that it is not starting the universal oracle installer. It is giving that DISPLAY is not set properly. I tried to do the following:
DISPLAY=<machine-name>.0.0;export DISPLAY
but it is not working.
