Problem in Kernel upgrade from 185 to 278
Hi
Sir/Madam,
While updating the kernel patch from (SAPEXE_185-20000972.SAR to SAPEXE_278-20000972.SAR & SAPEXEDB_185-20000972.SAR to
SAPEXEDB_278-20000972)we updated both Database independent & MS Sql
Server kernel patch after that we face problem in our SAP Management
console where the console disp+work.exe dispatcher is showing as Running but dialog queue info is unavailable.we can able to login into our sandbox and see the WP Table in SM50 t-code.But in SAP MMC it is
showing yellow signal. Please do the needful.
We have not updated in our Production server we tried in our SANDBOX first .
Thanks,
Gopinath M.L

SAP OS kernel upgradation from release 700 to 710
Dear Sir,
We are upgrading kernel release 700 (185) to 710 (160).
In this we are getting an error of saposcol i.e saposcol is not started automatically when we run startsap.
Currently we are running our application on Kernel release 700 patch level 185.
Should we have to upgrade application pathes after to upgrade the kernel release 710 patch level 160 ?
Is there any dependency in between SAP Application Patch and SAP Kernel Patch or we can run the application on current application patch level, kindly suggest
Regards,
MushtaqueDear Mushtaque,
I am not clear on your purpose for kernel upgrade from release 700 to 710. Your SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA version showing as 710 or 700. If it is 700, there is no reason to change your kernel release. The latest patch is 201. You should go for this patch incase release 700.
Also, as a post processing steps you need to run saproot.sh with root user after kernel upgrade.
Also please find below link for saposcol options.

hello guys i face a problem when i upgrade from iOS 4.2.1 to iOS 5.1.1 on ipad 3 .when i upgrade i don' t found the camera app from the built in apps.when i try to install from the app store i don't found the correct camera app .please help me .please give any suitable link where i find the correct camera app
It's a built-in app, so it can't be deleted nor downloaded from the store. If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Kernel upgrade from 6.20 to 6.40
Dear All,
Hi!! I've a query regarding kernel upgrade from 6.20 to 6.40 in a multi application server scenario. We are running SAP Enterprise 4.7 2.00 running WebAS 6.20 on SUN Solaris 9.0. There is one CI & one DB in SUN cluster environment and 5 application servers. I know the procedure for Kernel upgrade but i'm not sure how to go about it? Should i upgrade the kernel first in CI or in application servers? Wud it make any difference coz 6.40 kernel is downward compatible? Wat should be the chronology in upgrading the kernel in the above environment?Hi Sameer,
You cannot upgrade Kernel on application servers without doing it on CI.All instances should run same kernel for system to work. So, have some downtime and upgrade the kernel on all instances..
First take upgrade kernel on CI and bring up SAP back and check for any errors..If it works fine then upgrade on all Applications..Also,Before doing it on Production try applying on Development or test systems..That way you are sure not to have any known or unforeseen issues..
Mandatory Post Kernel upgrade Checks:
Check R3trans and TP commands
Check RFC/Communication interfaces
Check ITS/IGS or any other WEB interfaces
Thanks Anil -
Problems trying to upgrade from Solaris 10 update 4 to update 8
Hello,
I am having problems trying to upgrade a system from update 4 to update 8. I have broken all the mirrors and everything is now setup off of one disk, yet I do not get the upgrade option when I boot from the CDROM. Anybody have any ideas?
It is a pretty basic system and I do not understand why it will not let me upgrade.
Thanks for your help,
GaryIf you boot your system from the CD-Rom, you can test its upgradability by performing the following steps:
create a file named for example /tmp/pf_profile, which contains:
install_type upgrade
root_device /dev/dsk/<your root slice>The run the pfinstall program on it:
/usr/sbin/install.d/pfinstall -D /tmp/pf_profile
.. with a bit of luck that should validate your installation and report any potential problems which might cause this.
Also, have you had a look on the following thread?

Hello to all,
I have just upgraded to the latest kernel release:
#uname -r
2.6.30-ARCH
and after the upgrade, eth0 is unable to get IP from the DHCP server.
Thanks in advance!
Did you update dhcpd ? Is the module in the kernel or installed seperate ? Did you try to revert back to the previous kernel ? -
Kernel upgrade from patch 57 to patch 75.
Hi
I am sorry to have posted this question in another thread as well, basically cause the subject of the other thread related to this one...maybe that's not a good way to...
I have a NW04S SR1 systems installed with usage type (AS-Java, BI, EP,DI).
My present kernel stack is 57, which is a unicode kernel.
I downloaded the latest Application server JAVA- kernel 64 bit unicode stack from Service market place.
Now I am trying to load the kernel stack into my system using the note "Note 912575 - iSeries: Using LODSAPKRN to load a 7.00 kernel"
The note mentions about creating a file in "</dir>/<parts>". After downloading the files SAPEXE.SAR & SAPEXEDB.SAR to my IFS in a folder named "kern", I created a text file named "parts" using notepad having the content:
SAPEXE.SAR,
SAPEXEDB.SAR,
After this I created a library named "EPD70UCKRN".
Now when I run the command LODSAPKRN I get the following error message in the joblog:
LODSAPKRN DEV(STMF) MNTPNT('/kern') KRNLIB(EPD70UCKRN) USERDEF(YES) LIST('/kern/parts')
ImportKitPartDef: Cannot open definition file /kern/parts
RestoreKitFromSAR: PANIC: Could not correctly initialize.
LodSapKit: Failed to restore kernel parts from archives below /kern
Failed to load first part of SAP kernel.
Errors occurred in command.
The first Error which says "Cannot open definition file /kern/parts" makes me wonder if you have to create the file some other way, maybe some OS400 style. I have checked the permissions on the file, I tried chaniging the owner to <SID>ADM and giving it all the permissions using chmod 777.
Or it totally something else?
any ideas??
Thanks all.
AbhiHi all,
I was able to solve the first problem after I realized that the file name should have a .txt extension at its end. Duh!!!!
So once I modified my command as
LODSAPKRN DEV(STMF) MNTPNT('/kern') KRNLIB(EPD70UCKRN) USERDEF(YES) LIST('/kern/parts.txt') , it started extracting and uncaring my SAPEXE.SAR etc to a library X.....in QSYS. But now it gives me a different error in the joblog:
The total joblog is is:

TS1717 are there problems with iTunes upgrading from Vista to Windows 7?
are ther problems upgrading iTunes from Vista to Windows 7?
The best method is to use Windows Easy Transfer first to backup all your data, and do custom clean install. And install all your apps and drivers afterwards.
Yes it should work. Make sure you are ready, and have all the latest drivers and applications ahead of time.
There are some "gottchas" with the upgrade from Vista. -
Dear all,
Ours is a MSCS cluster env with CI and DB running in CI node and DB node reapectively. We have 4 application servers as well. I upgraded the kernel from 139 -175. I have also update the /nuc with the same kernel files. This I have done by only bringing all the SAP related services down.(I didnt take a restart of the server). When I brought up the server all the services came up and the SAP was working. I checked the Kernel and found no errors.
Then i tried to upgrade the kernel of one of the APP server. I took a restart of the server also . when i started SAP the dispatched went down after coming up.
Below is the dispatched trace file.

[DpWpDied] W22Hi Sandy,
On your Central Instance, go to
RZ03->Utilities->Diagnosis->Message server status area
Check the REL_PATCHNO_* field if there are any inconsistencies.
Change the same and restart the dialog instance. It will work.

Problem after kernel upgradation
hi sdners
i have a problem that is after upgrading to new kernel level then i have started system but sysyem is not comming up . how to troubleshoot it?Hello Ramesh
Did you backup your old kernel before upgrading the kernel ?
Did you check the version and patch level of the kernel to be upgraded ? Did you download the same kernel version ( unicode / Non unicode)
Did you chnage anything else other than just copying the kernel dir . ?
Did you check the R3trans and R3check ?
Did you check running the report "sappfpar" (note #95454)?
Apart from all these .. to resolve any issue it would be the best way to check the logs ....
Regards
Rahul

Problem with PRD upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0
Hello,
I'm experiencing a problem with our live Productive system, and hoping for some ideas on how to resolve. First, we have successfully upgraded our DEV and QA environment, and are now upgrading PRD. I was successful in getting through the uptime SAPup of our downtime minimized upgrade. Note that I did not need to log into the Shadow instance at all, because all modifications will be transported from DEV during downtime.
However, I did want to log into the Shadow instance to take a look at it. I first had to start the instance in the SAP Management console, and then when I attempted to access via the SAPGUI, I recieved error "Internal TSKH error. Session terminated". Also, I noticed that as soon as I started up the Shadow instance, I am now getting "SYSTEM_CANT_CLEAR" short dumps every minute. Error says: Error when initializing the work area "SYST".
Since I don't need to log into the Shadow instance to complete the upgrade, I'm not sure if this is going to be an issue for me or not while I complete the upgrade.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Problems with latest upgrade from overdrive media
I think I need to uninstall overdrive media...the latest upgrade is creating havoc with my ability to download books from the library. It used to be easy, but now my device gets stuck in continuous download mode that never stops attempting to dowload something that appears to be finished. I have a 4th gen. Ipod touch. How do I uninstall it?
When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

Consult Transfer problem after CCM upgrade from 3.3.4 to 4.1.3
I upgraded a CCM Cluster installed into a main site. In addition there is a branch office WAN connected by an MPLS Link with the main site; the branch is connected to PSTN using a Voice Gateway H323. The upgrade was perfomed from 3.3.4.sr2 to 4.1.3sr3a.
Now there are problems with consult transfer only on the branch office; main site don't is affected by the problem.
It's really strange because it occurs for 50% of the time, sometimes it works fine ..
To better explain the problem:
when a user receive a call from PSTN or from another phone (into same region or remote) and want to transfer to another collegue he press "transfer softkey", talk with the collegue and when he try to transfer the call "transfer softkey" appear disabled. If he transfer the call without consult the call is transferred correctly.
Later I have unistalled the 4.1.3 sr3a and installed 4.1.3 sr2 but nothing is changed
Someone can help me ?Hi Brent,
Do you perhaps have "on hook" transfer enabled? With this enabled you don't need to press the Transfer key a second time to complete the transfer.Have a look:
When on-hook transfer is enabled, you can either hang up or press Trnsfer, then hang up.
If on-hook transfer is not enabled on your phone, be aware that hanging up instead of pressing Trnsfer cancels the transfer action and places the party to be transferred on hold.
Onhook Call Transfer
Modifications to the Call Transfer feature add the onhook (hangup) action as a possible last step to complete a call transfer. The Transfer On-hook Enabled service parameter, which enables onhook call transfer, must be set to True for onhook call transfer to succeed. If the service parameter is set to False, the onhook action ends the secondary call to the third party.
In the existing implementation, if user B has an active call on a particular line (from user A) and user B has not reached the maximum number of calls on this line, the Cisco IP Phone provides a Transfer softkey to user B. If user B presses the Transfer softkey (or Transfer button, if available) once, user B receives dial tone and can make a secondary call: user B dials the number of a third party (user C). Cisco CallManager provides a Transfer softkey to user B again. If user B presses the Transfer softkey again (or Transfer button, if available), the transfer operation completes.
With the new onhook call transfer implementation, user B can hang up after dialing user C's number, and the transfer completes. Both the existing and new implementations work in both the case of a blind transfer (user B disconnects before user C answers) and also in the case of a consult transfer (user B waits for user C to answer and announces the call from user A).
The previous implementation remains unchanged: user B can press the Transfer softkey twice to complete the transfer.

Unusual problem in kernel upgrade in grub UUID
FWIW ::grub wiki shows a forward slash in the grub line for UUID at the beginning of the UUID data.
The grub generated by the new kernel linux-3.0-1 inserts an equals sign. This user is not aware if all downloads provide this difference.
With the equals sign, my UUID was not recognized for the root partition.
After inserting the forward slash, the system booted correctly into kde desktop.
This change was necessary for both arch linux boot and fallback boot.
I also had to change the grub menu.lst kernel line to make it permanent and the same for the fallback kernel line in grub menu.lst.
With the equals sign in the grub kernel line my boots produced an error message::::unable to determine major-minor number of root device.......
Perhaps this info will help others in upgrading .
EDIT: My system is x86_64
Last edited by lilsirecho (2011-08-11 06:43:51)Hi Shiva,
You may refer SAP Notes 19466 and 684106, which tells you procedure to download and implement latest Kernel patch levels.
You can check whether your kernel patch level is upgraded or not, following below procedure.
System--> status > other Kernel info> Patche level
or
Transaction SM50> Processes> Process info-->Patch Level.
Coming to next question, you can find whether kernel is 32 bit or 64 bit, using the platform ID.
You can find this platform ID in your system,
system--> status.
Now relate this Platform to SAP Note 146289, where you can find the correct bit of your kernel.
If you need any other information, please reply me.
Thanks and Regards,
