Problem in maintaining Public Holiday Calendar

Dear All,
I have to maintain Public Holiday Calendar for 2009. For that I have maintained the holiday dates in Change Public Holidays. Please guide me as to how do I assign these holidays which I have maintained to Public Holiday Calendars being used in different PSA's?

for appearing in the holiday calendar of 2009, the Validity year of ur holiday calendar should contain the year 2009. say,
Valid Fr.year 2008
To year 2010
For the day to be a OFF day u have to re-generate the existing work schedule as i mentioned earlier. Only then the new holidays assigned to ur holiday calendar will be taken by the Work Schedule.
U must give the same Holiday class to ur new holidays (Same that u used to create ur earlier holidays to avoid confusions......)

Public Holiday calendar not to be taken into account for Sick Leave

Dear All,
I need help.
Public Holiday calendar not to be taken into account for Sick Leave.
Eg -When I employee applies for sick leave, the public holiday in between the dates shouldnt be considered. How can I configure this requirement.

For that group, you need 2 counting rules:
- one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 0 (not a working day)
- one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 1 to 9 (a working day)
If you want, you can add an other one or two for Holiday Class 1 to 9 (public holiday)

When I'm posting PL(Personnel Leave) against 31.12.2011 it is working fine but If I'm posting a Sick Leave against 31.12.2011 or CB the error is coming like "Error while accessing public holiday calendar on 20120101".

the error clearly saying that you dont have holiday calendar for 01.01.2012,, so please change it using PT02 to avoid the error.
then you check what exactly system is doing.
you have to create a wsr with one month extra validity than the exact periods required to avoid the future errors as you are getting now.
system always takes one month extra validity it is standard functionality.

As Surisetti told that, that public holiday might not created in that year. So check the same in SCAL and again re-generate the work schedule.

Now I'm meeting issue about Assigning Personnel subarea to Public holiday calendar.
I have Personnel subarea is SAP. But in screen of Assign Personnel subarea to public holiday calendar, I don't see Personnel subarea is SAP. Why?

How to tranport the public holiday calendar?

Now I have chage a public holiday calendar, but I find I can't tranport this change to another system.
In the initial screen of the public holiday calendar, the "Calendar -> Transport" button is gray. I don't know why? if have another place to be set?

Hi,
After creation public holidays and holiday calendar and factory calendar, a small "Truck" icon in tcode SCAL , then select publc holidays click on the truck button, again select holiday calendar click on truck button, select the factory calendar click on truck button, when you are clicking the transport it will ask the workbench request not customizing request, create the workbench request TP.
After creation of TP, I think you know all the procedure(release the TP)

Public Holiday Calendar on ESS

Is there any configuration to show the public holidays on ESS. The Calender overview somehow does not show the public holiday calendar.
Or it has to be shown using a new (customized) iview?

We used the method TEAM_CALE_ENRICHMENT of badi PT_ABS_REQ for adding weekends and holidays to the teamcalendar. And we made an enhancement in routine COLORIZE_EECALE (include LPT_ARQ_REQUEST_UIAF11) to add holidays and weekends to the employee calendar.

Problem In Fixed public holidays

                    I have a problem in my fixed days holiday .
In my case i have to mark LWP if any one absent in fixed public days holidays (26 jan,15 aug ,2 oct ) but what happening in 2001 it showing me like that
Absence hours
Absence days            0.00
Calendar days            1.00
when am running the payroll it showing me payable days is 31 and also 1 days amount is not deducting from salary .
In second case
if am taking the sick leave on 15 th aug in 2001 it showing me like that
Absence hours
Absence days                 0.00
Calendar days                1.00
Quota Used                   1.00 Days
when am running the payroll it showing me payable days is 31 and also 1 days absence quota is deducting but absence days is showing 0.
In Floating Public holiday case all thing is fine .

My first doubt is, if it's public holiday, why does he need to work? As it's already a holiday system will not consider it as absence. Otherwise ask your consultant to (you mentioned user, thats y asking to contact consultant) change the rule.
2. Is the absence 0 shows for a perticular employee or for all?

The answer to this and you other questions about work schedules would be answered if you took the SAP HR306 course. Work schedules, holiday calendars and quotas are all covered in that course. It is necessary if you are to properly set up work schedules for your organization.
Here the "earliest day and month" refer to the earliest the holiday can occur. For Thanksgiving, for example, the earliest it can be celebrated is the first Thursday in November after November 22nd. Another example is Martin Luther King Day which is the first Monday in January after January 15th.
This differs from holidays which are a fixed date each year - July 4th, December 25th, January 1st, etc. These can be "guaranteed" so they can be celebrated on the work day before if they fall on a Saturday or on the work day after if they fall on a Sunday.
Again, all this guidance is available to you in HR306.

The access to maintain holiday calendar and generation of wrk schedules could be given to either personnel adminsitrator or time administrator with appropriate authorizations...normally one or 2 power used would be given access like you have mentioned.

Creation of Public Holiday Calendar !!

I know to create a holiday calendar but my query is what is the advantage in creating a Public Holiday with Fixed date and Floating Public holiday.
I want to know what is the advantage & disadvantes using 1) Fixed date and 2) Floating Public holiday. Please let me know asap.

Holidays which fall on a fixed day of any year will be defined as Fixed public Holidays (Ex:- Independence Day, Republic day, Christmas etc) whereas holidays for which no fixed day is allocated is defined as a Floating Holiday (Ex:- Ramzan, Dusheera, Diwali etc)
Such a provision is made because we can define a holiday calender for a number of years. As a fixed holiday is always present we can assign it for the entire period (as long as the holiday calender is valid)
The floating hilidays need to be defined for a particular year

I have a new iPhone 3G and a Mobile Me account. All of my MM calendars sync fine except for the Public Holidays (I cannot view the holidays on the iPhone). Any solutions?

Syncing subscribed calendars will be supported with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer.
I did the following with my subscribed holidays calendar. Using iCal on my Mac, I exported the subscribed Holidays calendar. I followed this by importing the calendar export as a new non-subscribed calendar in iCal.

Holiday calendars

Hi all,
                 I need your suggestion to solve this issue related to public holiday calendars. Jul 4th(paid) is a public holiday and that has been assigned as a fixed day/date when created. In the calendar where it is used, the validity dates have been given as 2004-2005 and it was not used for the year 2006. Instead some other name was used (unpaid). Now, I need to assign the July 4th (paid) public holiday to the same calendar.
When I go in to assign holiday, it does not show the July 4th (paid) holiday to be reassigned. The overall validity of the calendar is till 2007.
July 4th - 2004 - 2005
            - I need to assign this to 2007 again
Please advise.

I've been arguing this issue with SAP for a long time. We have the same problem only ours is more complex because we have over 20 sites and in any given year a site may or may not take a particular holiday. As a result, we ended up creating a separate holiday for each site (i.e. 20 4th of Julys).
Prior to 4.6c it was possible to assign the same holiday more than once. In 4.6c SAP changed transaction SCAL so that it is no longer possible. The problem is with the transaction itself. You can modify table THCOD directly using SE16 and everything (time,payroll, etc) will work fine but then transaction SCAL will abend.   What we want to do should be possible since the end year is a key field.
