Problem in oracle report writer installation

I was trying to install oracle report writer in sun box. after I set the term variable. when I run the orainst file its giving the following error
orainst: cannot determine current directory
tk2c*.res: No such file or directory
Supported Terminals are :
TERM=vt-52 ORACLE_TERM=vt-52
Can't find resource file
/./tk2{TERM}.res or
/./tk2{ORACLE_TERM}.res
Please set your TERM variable to one of the supported terminals.
Exiting orainst procedure.

This needs to be in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or equivalent depending upon what Unix system you are on). If this file is not part of your installation, then you need to reinstall the product as your installation directory is incomplete.

Need to solve serious security problem with Oracle Reports URL

As mentioned repeatedly on this forum, Oracle Reports allows serious security breaches that allow users to see reports that they did not generate -- it's easy to guess a legal URL by changing the getjobid parameter.
I've reviewed the JavaDocs to part of the rwrun.jar file and reviewed some of the example report plugins. This shows promise in helping to solve this security problem but critical pieces are missing.
1) The javadocs are accurate for only 10g (9.0.4) but not correct for 10g (10.1.2+), which we are currently using. I need access to the updated version of this javadoc.
2) Even with the updated version of the JavaDoc, I haven't found a class from which to inherit that would give me the opportunity to generate random jobid values, which then would effectively prevent users from guessing other jobid values, and thereby gaining access to other's reports (which in our cases, may contain sensitive information.
3) We have found that we can send the parameter=value of EXPIRATION=1 which helps protect such information, but this requires that every program which invokes a report be modified to add this parameter. It would be far better for the report server to be configured to use a java class we write that inherits from some rwrun.jar class that would by default, add the EXPIRATION=1 parameter.

Thanks for our replies. I will ask to an administrator about this security problem, now I know it depends of a security parameter.
But I would know if it could be possible to hide the technical name of the query in the url. It could improve the security level of our reports in a first time in this way.

Problem in starting Report Writer

When I try to start Report writer with rwbld60, it shows an error
Error while loading shared libraries: libjava.so : cannot load shared object files: No such file or directory.
Pl. let me know how to configure java for starting report writer.

Hindi font problem in oracle report under linux

I want to show hindi shusha fonts in oracle reports in pdf format on linux OS.

Report printing problem in Oracle Report 10g

Hi group,
I have one report which I am callinng from form. Out put is comming directly in PDF format, While taking printout on EPSON Printer allignment is not comming properly.
But If i convert in to text format and print from MS-DOS prompt on same printer it is comming properly.
Now want to print same in report builder directly in first way. whole environment is on Oracle AS and server is LINUX and client machine is windows

A simple problem with oracle reports

Hello.
I am using oracle 10G reports and i built a report of employee personal information i add a picture on it.
against a employee id picture shown.
I added a formula in which a funtion return a path
e.g "return 'D:\Images\'||:empid||'.jpg';"
But the problem i faced that if any employee having no picture so it raised a error REP-0108 File not found.
i use many exeption handler but no gain.
if any body have it solution then pls. inform me.

I'm assuming you have no way of telling from the database whether the image exists or not. If so, then what you can do is first run a check to see whether the file is present in the path by opening it in read mode.
If this succeeds, close and return the filename. On an error, you can return a generic, placeholder filename such as logo.gif or beaker.gif, etc.

Problem with oracle report server

Dear All
I have deployed Oracle application server 10g forms & report services on win 2003 server.
but problem is that after some interval report is getting hanged and not opening on web browser,
If i restart the report server then it will come very fast.
As i am new to this field Can anybody tell me how can i investigate the problem of report server.

you can modify the report engine in EM console, you can put one or more JVM for this as well that it have expiration day, this will be helpful, because you can put an iddle time, so when the engine get it, it will be restarted, as well max of process again will be restarted.

Design problem in Oracle Reports 10g

Hi,
I have a problem desinging reports, and the biggest problem is that i remember in the past i knew how to solve this problem.
The problem is the following.
imagine you put a big TextField, where you put just a few words, it's algned to the top, and if you resize the TextField, the thext always moves to the top of the field, and what i want is that when i resize the field, the text move to the bottom of the field.
can someone tell me where are the properties to do that.

I think in reports the alignment of the text in the field is always top.

Problem with oracle webcenter 11g installation and configuration

I have installed weblogic and webcenter successfully.After that I have configured the webcenter by creating new domain using configuration wizard . Three managed servers created for spaces, services and portlets and able to bring up. The problem is webcenter and other service related applications are in failed state. In server stage no ear or war files related to these applications. So unable to access webcenter spaces. Only weblogic console and webcenter enterprise manager can be accessed.No clue from installation document.
Is anything to do to make it to active state?

Problem solved. Simply two more steps required. First, In the nodemanager.properties Edit as StartScriptEnabled=true and start the node manager and then Admin server. Second step is start the WLS_Spaces managed server from webcenter Enterprise Manager. Now spaces is accessible.

Oracle report problem-Passing a column value from a query block to another

Hi I am facing a problem in oracle reports.
I have 3 query blocks say Q1,Q2 and Q3.
From Q1 I get a tblkey coulmn and for each value of tblkey I need to pass it on to Q2 which gives me a status and now finally Q3 will take tblkey and status to give me final output.
Can somebody please tell me how I can do it?

Depending on your report requirement, you may do a join of Q1, Q2, and Q3; or keep all Qs and for Q3 use subqueries ...
Select ... from ... where tblkey, status in (
select tblkey, status from ... where tblkey in (
select tblkey from .... where .... ) )

Oracle reports calling problem from FORMS

Guys I've a problem in oracle report calling from Oracle FORMS. I am using reports and forms 6i. When the report name length is more than 30 characters the report engine runs first time correctly but on the second call of report the system gives an error :
" RWRBE60.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.You will need to restart the program ".
After this error the report engine closes and i have to call the report again.
Is there a length fixed for reports name in Oracle 6i.
Is any possible solution available.
Remember i dont want to shorten my report names.
Kindly help me with this.

Oracle Report Server wierd problem

Hi All,
I am facing very wierd problem with oracle report server.
I am using Oracle Report Server 10g R1. The problem I am facing is as under:
There is custom parameter form where user enters report filter criteria and press a button to create the report.
The problem is that report is giving output some times and sometimes it gives no output at all. Both the times, the parameters passed by user are same. The report executions are done for both runs one after other. We have tried to look in report server trace file but could not find anything. When report server fails to give any data in the report, at the same time, we have tried to execute the report query on SQL prompt and it did return data.
Can any one give any hint where the problem could be ?

Hi,
When i used to get only one page the options like facing, continuous facing are disabled. And displays only single page.
These options are enabled only when there are multiple pages in pdf.
One more thing i found that it happens when I first view the report as pdf it displays
all the pages, then i change the display format to csv and again when i change
the format to pdf the problem starts.
And when I will restart the report server service, it works fine again until i wont view it in CSV format.
