Hi , I own a hp pavilion dv6 6050se laptop bought in UAE during 2011, I have lost the recovery discs.
How do i get a copy of recovery discs??

    Hi,
I don't see any link on your Product Page to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs, but it's always worth calling HP directly and see if you can order them this way.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are unable to order these discs from HP, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • Problem With Pavilion DV6 3052nr Recovery Manager!!!!!!!!

    1. HP Pavilion DV6 3052nr
    2.Windows Seven HomePre OA x64
    3. On Recovery Manager : I Deleted all of my parttions on my hard disk. then when I used recovery disks to restore it to its factory set , after extracting the image files on disks to the hard drive , system restarted and boot to the Recovery manager with " Restore Incomplete " error. Just help me,pleaseeeeeeee

    Hi:
You may have to purchase a set of HP recovery disks or if you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook (DON'T POST IT), you can do this...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Blue tinted screen, menory problems, underperforming battery - 5 day old HP pavilion dv6-6005sa

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6-6005sa 15.6" Laptop - Linen White on 14/06/11 from Currys digital, Arndale Centre, Manchester. The laptop is less than 1 week old.
The screen is a frost blue colour from the second I turn it on to the second it is turned off. Weirdly I can see the entire screen, just that everything is blue!! Does anybody know how this can happen??? When I move the screen it flickers from normal to this blue thing. A loose connection maybe?
I am unhappy as I got to send it back to the shop for a under 21 days replacement involving an expensive airmail delivery :@ The alternative would be a 3 week investigation in the lab which I cant be bothered with!
Has anybody else experienced this phenomenon with a HP laptop screen? I also am beginning to experience memory problems and the usb prots are on the blink. I have looked after it very well, it has just been sat on a desk for 5 days! Can anybody explain me this phenomenon and if it is a comon problem with HP laptops?
Now for the next problem as if a faulty screen and memory cache wouldnt be enough! The battery:
The battery specs are as follows:
    Lithium-Ion 6-cell battery
    'upto 7.5 hours battery life'
The battery is advertised to perform 'upto 7.5 hours' however I get maximum 4.5 hours doing absolutely nothing on power saver mode with the laptop with it just sitting there idle on a desk. At the same time I also had wireless and bluetooth off; screen brightness set to 0%, maximum processing chip power reduced to 20%; battery saver mode active; all major applications closed).
I get maximum 2-3 hours doing basic tasks with it such as word processing. Gaming I get maximum 1.5 hours.
The battery checker displays the following:
    Status: Ok (0)
    warrenty type: 1 year
    cycle count 0
    manufacturer: 13-42
    battery age 136 days
    serial number: 12587 02/01/2011
    Temperature: 27oC
    Design Capacity: 5100mAh

    Cell Voltage 1: 4174 mV

    Cell Voltage 3: 4177 mV
    Cell Voltage 4: 0 mV
    Status: 0
    AC Power: True
    CT Number: N\A
I have highlighted in bold the things I thing are suspicious. I feel the results are those of a malfunctioning battery. Could anybody tell me if I am correct withmy assumptions?
As I am no expert coes anybody reading this think these results are normal for a new battery and can you provide me some insight to wether my battery might be faulty or not?
Basically I think at least one of the 6 cells inside the battery are malfunctioning.

Go to Power Options in the Control panel and select the  Power Saver option. Do not choose balanced. Then run your battery capacity tests again. Hopefully the new setting will improve the time that you get.

  • Pavilion dv6 Webcam not working?

I have a Pavilion dv6-1030ca notebook, and for the past few weeks, I've been having trouble with my webcam. When I open HP MediaSmart Webcam, I get the following error message: "No video device detected. Please plug a video device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure it is turned on." I have an integrated camera, and it (usually) turns on when the webcam application opens. I am running Windows Vista with SP1, and have tried many things to fix it, to no avail. The webcam does not appear in Device Manager, under Imaging Devices nor any of the USB Root Hubs. So far, I have attempted to:
    - Reinstalled the USB Root Hub Drivers
    - Tried to fix the solution in BIOS (as another thread suggested)
    - Attempted to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the driver (was not in the list)
    - Created Recovery Disks to solve the problem (it didn't)
    - Upgraded the MediaSmart Webcam software
I am in school right now, and I really can't afford to give my laptop away to get repaired for three weeks since I have exams coming up. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I am in the exact boat as you.
Couldn't understand why all of a sudden, after about 3 months, the webcam 'device not found' in Win7 Device Manager, Google Chat, Skype, etc.
Called HP support, and they made us do a hard reset of the entire notebook, removing the battery, ac cord, and holding down the power button for 1 minute.
Webcam came back for 1 day, but I'm not about to unplug and reset everytime I am in the middle of a skype call?!
Sadly, HP or Costco (where it was purchased) doesn't seem to care or are willing to provide a solution.
Instead of recalling the computers, like automobile and other industries, they just wait and hope that the warranty runs out before it becomes a big deal.
They didn't stop selling them either, even with this known problem.
So now they have the G series of notebooks, and so the dv6 and its headaches can fade away for HP.
I have probably been involved with over 100 HP product purchases in my job the past 5 years, but this will be the last for the forseeable future.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c14nr Entertainment Notebook PC -- No webcam detected

    My name is Sarah.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6c14nr Entertainment Notebook PC
    Model: A6Y00UA
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I first realized I had a webcam problem today when I tried video chatting on Skype. I do have a built-in webcam, as there is a lens above my screen with the words "HP TrueVision HD" beside it.
I opened CyberLink YouCam (it came standard with my laptop) and received this message:
From here, I found the Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7) help page via Google. I followed "Reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer in Windows 7," but got no results. I followed "Can't find the webcam or webcam software," but got no results. I then followed "Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.)," but got no results.
Next, I found the Testing a Webcam Using YouCam help page via search on the HP website. I followed the instructions until step 2 "Verify the webcam hardware is recognized in Device Manager" when I had to stop here:
I returned to the Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7) help page and followed the instructions for "Webcam is not listed in Device Manager (Windows 7)," but again got no results.
I did not use Microsoft System Restore because 1) I don't know exactly when my webcam went from working to not working, and 2) I am unsure what a system restore will do in terms of me losing any data or programs.
If anyone has any advice or knows exactly what I need to do, I appreciate the feedback.

I would guess one of two things-either the webcam has failed or the cable that runs from the webcam is unplugged from the motherboard.

    This is hilarious.
**NOTE** I am a video editor who makes a lot of custom sports movies.
I bought my Dv6 back in March. I tried the HD Cam once. It worked and I was amazed at how clear and crisp the video was.
Fast Forward 2 months. For no particular reason. I go to skype my parents. But my camera won't work. I look all over the laptop for a reason it's no working. In two months I've managed to install custom programs for my A/V production with all kinds of add ons. Various other programs for viewing and testing. I've made several productions utilizing about 650GB of my 1TB harddrive.
After checking out the web for a driver, I find HP doesn't have a driver on their support site for this model. So I check the forums and find this isn't an isolated issue. I call up technical support and after all the same troubleshooting I did, their fix is. Close all open programs, reboot, and restore back to manufacturer. That's it. No care about anything I've got installed or saved. The support person tells me this is the only fix. As HP has no known driver to resolve the issue.
{Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion} kind of shady support is that? HP Distributes a high end personal laptop with no known support for a pretty well known existing issue?

Enter the device manager and verify that the webcam is present and has a driver installed.
    1) Test your webcam by using the YouCam software that was delivered with your notebook. (you should also be able to test it with MSN or Skype setup). You may have to uninstall it and then reinstall the software.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 problems

About a year and a half a go, I got a brand new HP Pavilion dv6. When I unboxed it, I found out the webcam and mic were fualty, the battery was fualty and so was the fan. I had it replaced free of charge. about a month later. Now, I am having problems with the moniter (the hinges on the left side are broken) the battery does not have the right capibilty (or something like that) for what it should be. The hard drive also had to be replaced. All I want is a working webcam and mic, but the laptop does not detect the webcam at all, and the mic sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Any help to get them working would be real;y nice. Thanks.

    Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the webcam and internal Microphone. This could be either a hardware issue or software issue.
I would suggest using the program called recovery manager to recovery the webcam software and drivers.
Please follow this document which should guide you through the recovery manager. Go down to the section that says "Reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer"
Now, you will need to select the option that is circled in the picture.
Then you will need to select Cyberlink YouCam Software.
Once you recovery this you will need to restart the notebook. After restart please test the webcam out and let me know the outcome.
Now for the microphone, you will need to follow this document.
This document will guide you through a couple of steps to test the microphone out in windows.
Once you troubleshoot the microphone let me know if either issue gets resolved. If you have any more questions let me know.

  • Solved Crackling Problem in Windows 7 (SB 24-bit USB External, HP Pavilion dv6 1124-ca laptop).

I'm one of many users who has had problems with the sound crackling problem with their sound card after upgrading to Windows 7.
I was previously on Windows Vista running 5. with 24-bit, 96000Hz sample rate Studio Quality with no problems at all. When I upgraded to Windows 7 RC, Windows was able to automatically find a driver for my external USB sound card, but when playing music, I always got a constant crackling sound coming from the speakers while trying to put the card in anything above 2. or and when putting it in 24-bit 96000Hz, the crackling only got worse. Installing the Beta drivers on the Creative site didn't work either... still had the crackling. I searched around for the past several months for solutions to no avail.
Then today, I was surfing the HP website (I have a HP Pavilion dv6 24-ca laptop) to see if they had added Windows 7 drivers to their support site and they did... and so I started downloading all available Windows 7 drivers for my specific laptop. When I first installed Windows 7 RC, it had installed it's own drivers for everything (on-board sound etc.). After replacing the Windows 7 installed "High Definition Audio Device" drivers with the HP supplied "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" drivers... I'm not sure if the on board sound driver has anything at all to do with the crackling on the Soundblaster but I replaced the drivers anyway. I also installed another driver called "AMD USB Filter" that was supplied by the HP website for Windows 7 which is another driver that I thought might help with the problem. Other drivers installed were "ENE CIR Reciever Driver" and "Realtek Card Reader Driver" but those have nothing to do with the sound card.
After installing the drivers from the HP website, I no longer get the crackling from the speakers when playing in 5.. I am also now able to select 24-bit 96000Hz sample rate without crackling as well I am very happy to have finally solved the problem. So to anyone having similar problems, I suggest you check out your manufacturers website to see if they have any drivers available for you... I have a feeling the AMD USB Filter is what solved the problem... but who knows.
Hope this helps other HP users!

Try this video let me know if it helps you out.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9M-1Bx-7_zI
If you can hear the music through the speakers but not the headphones I would suggest using an AUX cable because seems the sound isn't being transmitted over.
Just a friendly note here. Don't buy the wireless turtle beaches I have the x32s and I'm continuously buying batteries !
