Problem in rendering videos direct linked to speed grade.

hi
i'm revanth,i'm facing a problem that all the videos which are direct link to speed grade are not rendering in AME..

Revanth ...
Would love to help you. Are you still having this problem, and if so ... I need some info.
OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM & specifics on version for the OS and drivers for the GPU. For example, mine looks like this, because knowing it is useful when I need to ask for help, I created a text file on my desktop to simply copy it ...
-Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s); Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    16.0 GB.
-EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 w/4Gb vRAM; Driver Version    347.25
-System: 2-disc SSD RAID; Cache Files: Internal SSD; Media Files: 2TB Internal HD; Project Files: 2TB Internal HD; Export Files: 2TB Internal HD
Anyone with some knowledge of the Adobe Digital Video Apps (DVA's) can look at that and immediately note a few areas that might allow problems but rule out many others. Speeds the whole puzzling process along.
Next ... workflow. Is working in Sg a new-ish thing for you or do you have some pro experience at it? I don't want to bore/insult you nor talk over your head. What's the footage of the project (camera/codec info), and what hefty things may have been applied in PrPro, After Effects, or Sg such as noise control, warp-stabilizer, tracked key-frame masks, multiple LUT's/Looks, that sort of thing.
And ... I take it if you export a non-Sg processed video it works as expected through AME? So it's only IF you take a PrPro project through a round-trip to Sg that AME refuses to export?
Next ... a screen grab of the AME settings you're using would be excellent ...

  • Direct linking from Premiere gets stuck at post processing

    Hi Guys,
I have a huge project from Premiere. It's a feature about 1hr 32mins that i tried to direct link to speed grade. Speed grade loads up and it gets stuck at post processing. I read that people recommend exporting as an EDL but you only have 1 track of video? and I have like 9 tracks. What do you guys recommend doing?
    heres the setup I have.
    Macbook Pro Retina 15".
    256gb SSD
    16gb Ram
    Adobe CC
Project sits on 2 thunderbolt drives.

i turned off the intel gpu and only ran on the 1gb card. still nothing. left it alone for 5 hours while it was in "post processing" and didn't load. im getting nervous, even if I got it to work and it crashes on me; I cant afford to wait on it.
I went ahead and exported my project to quicktime and currently working in Resolve 10 Lite. The scene detection was a lot faster than speedgrades. Im not here to knock on adobe/speed grade. hopefully you guys can fix this soon?
    thanks

  • After Effects Direct Link clips render slowly in Premiere

I have a few clips I sent to After Effects from PPro via Direct Link and have noticed Premiere chugs along at a super sluggish pace when it gets to rendering or exporting those clips. Some clips take at least 5 times longer to render or export from Premiere than it does in After Effects which doesn't make sense to me. I have noticed in AE when I'm exporting my RAM is being utilized a lot but in PPro my CPU is maxing itself out while not using as much RAM – is there a way I can have PPro render utilizing the same system resources as AE?
Direct Link is awesome in theory but right now I see two big problems with it:
    1) PPro takes forever to render Direct Linked clips so you might as well just export from AE and bring the clips into PPro
    2) I've read that when exporting from PPro, in order to get the highest quality export, it's best to not use render files which means even if you've rendered your Direct Linked in PPro in order to guarantee smooth playback you'll have to re-render them on export (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Both of these issues makes me wonder what use Direct Link is other than a quick way to send clips to AE? Please help! I wan't this feature to be as awesome as it should be.

Well that's a shame... If exporting from AE is required there should be a better method of getting the exported clip into PPro to replace the Dynamic Link clip. I was hoping I could point the comp in AE to use the lossless export as a proxy and therefore have PPro read the exported file rather than the AE comp but, unfortunately, that still produces stuttering playback.
    Fuzzy Barsik wrote:
PrPro communicates with dynamically linked compositions via headless instance of AE, which limits processing to a single thread and, therefore, creates a bottleneck.
I had high hopes for Dynamic Link, this is a sad revelation. Hopefully this is an issue Adobe is working to fix.

  • Rendered video very low quality

My camera shoots in MTS format. I converted the file to mp4 and edited it. I then imported that footage into After Effects and when I tried to render the video it was very low quality. I made sure the composition settings and render settings matched that of my video. I tried saving it as H.264, mov, avi, m4v, and mpeg2 non of which were good enough quality to use. The avi format came close in quality for the video but everything seemed to move in slow motion. The audio played perfectly though. I also tried rendering video directly from the MTS file and it still didn't work.
Is there a specific way I should convert or encode the file? I tried some different settings within Adobe Media Encoder but when I brought the file into AE and tried to render I got the same issues of it being low quality.
This is for a client so it's very important that I get the needed effects added to this video. Thanks in advance for any help!

I understand how After Effects rendering works and different file types. I just wanted to try rendering in different formats just make sure I hadn't missed something. I figured something out that came close to the quality I need so I guess it will have to work.
My original MTS file is 1920 x 1080 and 29 fps.
I rendered it with these settings originally
    NTSC, 1920 x 1080
    29.9 fps
    Bitrate CBR 30 Mbps
The file came out choppy and noticeably lower quality.
The last time I rendered it with these settings:
    NTSC, 1280 x 720,
    59.94 fps
    Bitrate CBR 20 MBps
The quality was much much better. It still had a little distortion with a lot of movement but it was much more bearable so I guess that's what I'm going with. If anyone knows of any better settings it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • After effects does not import video when I direct link from premiere pro.  Why not? how do i fix this?

I wanted to add some motion tracked text elements into a clip of a interview in my premiere pro cc timeline. I left clicked on the clips that i wanted to "replace with after effects composition".. so i clicked it to and it opens a new comp in after effects.. Only there is no video opened in the comp.. Theres nothing there. I cant figure out why it doesnt bring the video in? Its not in my project panel in ae.. and ive tried direct link by left clicking the clip and going through the menu.. Tried closing AE and then doing direct link. Tried opening AE first and then doing it.. Not working no matter how i try it.  Whats the fix?
Im using all CC products. Premiere is up to date, after effects is not. I will be updating it to see if that fixes the problem. As soon as I do. I will post a comment as to whether it fixed it or not. In the meantime i could use some help!

  • Speedgrade Direct Link Problem

Hello All, after updating Premiere Pro CC I have a problem with the Direct Link function to Speedgrade. After saving the PP project, PP closes then the PP Welcome screens opens followed by Speedgrade which has the Red dialogue box stating that the sequence/video file cannot be found. Has anyone else encountered this and if so have you found a solution?
    Many thanks

Thank you Jim!! I have been searching the internet for hours now, because speedgrade showed a black screen with direct link.
    For people with similar issue:
    What helped me was to
    1) change settings for Nvidia - follow description by ValeoMooha in this post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1016759
    2) Opening Sg before direct linking from Premiere.
Thanks again! Looking forward to learn SG, now that it works!

  • I've had a problem with previewing rendered video files

    Hey guys, I'm Justin,
    thanks in advance.
so when I render video files in fce, the video usually renders fine, but on the canvas the video just replays the first and last frame of the rendered video, making it look like a jumbled mess. but, when I export it as a quicktime file it runs just fine, I think the problem is in my canvas and I don't know how to fix it.
Also I recently upgraded my system from 2gb of ram to 4gb of ram, can fce recognise this or do I need to do something fancy
    Thank you so much,
    Justin

Hello, Justin, and welcome to the forum.
Where is the video coming from and how are you getting it into FCE? Almost always, your best bet is to convert your media into a format with which FCE works natively before you bring it into the program. If you do that, rendering and lots of other issues are minimized.

  • Speed Grade CC missing features when Direct Link with Premiere CC

I'm new to speed grade, so I am unclear as to what the issue might be:
When I direct Link from Premiere Speed Grade does not behave the way I would expect
I cannot select any tab other than "Look"
I cannot toggle the 'visibility' of layers
I can create adjustment layers, but they have no effect on the sequence.
I wish to grade my whole sequence with a broad LUT (day for nite)
Why does speed grade act this way?

    Sam,
In the Direct Link process, Speedgrade uses the PrPro project file, rather than creating it's own internal files. Adobe is very cautious about allowing Sg to mess with that project file, with any/all sequences/timelines that might be there. So therefore ... ALL features that directly change a sequence timeline itself are locked-out, or as viewed ... greyed-out. They don't really explain this too well anywhere I've seen yet. So there are some caveats with working Direct Link, and once you get them down it is a sweet process ... mostly. You're right, you can't do anything but adjust how things "look" in a D-L session. That doesn't mean you can't change things of course ...
Grading layers: Create "adjustment layers" over clips or whole sequences in PrPro before going D L to Sg, and use those ... works just fine, as Joost notes. Any of Sg's adjustments from color primaries/secondaries/LOOKs/LUTs work fine applied in an "adjustment layer" the same as if they were in an Sg-created 'grading layer'.
There is one BIG CAVEAT: as Sg is not allowed to touch that timeline UNTIL you click on the "save & go back to PrPro" icon, IT DOES NOT DO ANY AUTOSAVES NO MATTER HOW YOU'VE SET PRPRO & SG FOR AUTOSAVING! If you have PrPro running in the background, you may see a brief flash of "autosaving" or something to that effect every now & then. IT IS NOT SAVING YOUR SPEEDGRADE WORK in a Direct Link session, do NOT be deceived!
You will need to do manual saves or save-as's every so often or risk losing your work. Yea, I wuz the guy what found this out ... sigh. Only lost two hours of work, and we had a joyful thread about this when I posted on that some months back. There's been talk of doing something about this, don't know if there's a correction for this coming.
Other than that, grading in Sg in a D L session works as you'd expect.

  • Problems with Installation and then with the direct links...

Well.. the problem is that I tried to install flash player, and in the middle of the Download it gets to 47% and says: "The download time has expired" and closes the download and open me in the web explorer to a troubleshooting page... I go to the error selecting the issue of the download and the solution is that I have to download the Flash Player from another page with direct links of the Player and there's the thing... The links are not working...
The page says "The connection was reset". I hope that you can help me with this problem.

What operating system and browser would you like to install Flash on?

  • Mac Pro 6,1 STILL having issues with Open CL (4K scaling and SpeedGrade direct link grades)

I've seen the staff responses to the issues of the new Mac Pro GPU saying that 10.9.4 fixes everything. For me, it has fixed my export issues, so I'm glad. I'm no longer getting lines and artifacts on my renders.
    That's great.
However, I'm still having several issues, and they seem to be linked to Adobe and Open CL.
Here's a video that shows what's going on:
mac pro issues july 7 - YouTube
    Issue #1
Like most of you probably, I'm doing 1080p exports of most things I'm working on. The first project shows a 1080p timeline with a mix of 4k, 5k, and 720p footage. Because zooming in so much on a 720p file in a 4k timeline looks so crappy, I'm doing 1080p timelines and scaling everything to the size it needs to be. I started in a 4k timeline then switched to 1080p because the 720p footage looked so terrible. However, in the 4k timeline, I didn't have any of the issues I'm showing in this first part of the video.
When I switched to the 1080p timeline, I discovered a weird quirk: When I resize the 4k (or 5k) footage to the size it needs to be (which varies based on the frame I want), it goes back to the 100% view when I'm scrubbing through it. When I pause, the size of the video goes back to the way I set it. I show this in the video. Then I show what was my working solution for the time being: "scale to frame size", which brings all the videos to the size of the sequence frame size and works fine. Later, I turn off OpenCL in premiere and when I scrub through the video, it doesn't zoom back in or only stay at the size I set when stopped. For some reason all of these issues only happen at 50% scale or smaller. It doesn't happen at, say, 60%.
I've tested this with raw R3D files and other 4K (or 5K) clips (even clips exported from After Effects) and the same thing happens. It doesn't seem to happen with 2.5k footage or 1080p footage.
    Issue #2
This is the second project you'll see in the video.
After grading in speedgrade (through direct link) I open my project back up in premiere and start playing it back. The video plays back with delays and frame drops. Now normally, this would be expected. But this is 1080p pro res footage, and this is just an effect added, and the yellow bar appears indicating that open CL should be accelerating the playback and it should do so smoothly.
Maybe I was just wrong in assuming that a simple grade from speedgrade would be able to playback smoothly. I turn off the grade, and it plays normally.
But then, when I turn off open cl and leave the grade on, the video plays back without ANY issues.
So to me, it seems I'm still having issues with Open CL and adobe. I've found fixes that make it work temporarily, I don't need that kind of answer. However, I would like this to work. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Something I need to do to get this to work?
    Here are my specs:
    Mac Pro 6,1 (Late 2013)
    3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5
    64 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB (x2)
    OSX 10.9.4
    Firmware: 2.20f18
What you're seeing is latest version of Premiere (CC 2014, v8.0.0 [169] Build)
Everything here is ProRes 422, running from a Promise Pegasus2 R4 RAID (drives: 4x Seagate Desktop HDD 4 TB SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST4000DM000) (that's thunderbolt 2).
I've done everything: I've restarted my computer hundreds of times, I've reset NVRAM and PRAM and done power cycles.
This isn't just some issue that started with 10.9.3 of OSX, the 4k issues happened when I first switched to a 1080p sequence back in February (2014) or so, which means it was an issue even with 10.9.2 and the previous firmware release.
I've reported this issue to adobe.

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • Poor Speedgrade performance using premiere's Direct Link

I am having a problem grading my project in Speedgrade using Direct Link from Premiere.
My project is in total 7min 30sec long consisting of MP4 video from my Canon T5i/700D. Video had a slightly higher bitrate (CBR) than usual (1.4 maybe?). In premiere I have done a bit of stabilizing using after effects (warp stabilizer) and denoising (magic bullet denoiser II) . All of these I used the 'replace with after effects composition' option. These shots make up about 1/6th of the total sequence. All my project files are located on my SSD (I thought moving them there would help. It doesn't). worth noting I am also using a custom LUT designed for CineStyle which I'm using on my canon.
My problem is the speed. It's not even a little slow. It's unusable. Let's say I select midtones and want to up the offset a tiny bit. I click the slider and slowly move my hand up. I then have to wait around 10 - 15 seconds for speedgrade to even start recognising the change. If I let go the mouse it means I have to wait again a long time to change it once again. It's the same for all the other sliders (color temp etc.)
I've grown to like using Speedgrade for color correction but now it's taking far too long. What should take around 20 seconds per clip is taking around 5 - 10 minutes. Also as a result my correction and grading is gotten pretty bad (it wasn't that good to start off with). Restarting it doesn't help as it's just as slow when it starts as an hour later.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any ideas?
As I'm in a bit of a rush with this project I'm going to try just do the grading in Premiere. I've never done grading in the CC version of premiere, so is there any new color tools someone could recommend?
    Thanks.

Looking through your gear for a quick idea ... it appears you're running twin (separate) video cards? You might try a quick disable of one card, and see if Sg runs better. I suggest this because 1) some computers at some times have had trouble running paired vid cards in Sg and 2) it's a quick & easy thing to test.
As another thought, I did some denoising on a 2:39 clip in Ae just using its own built-in denoiser, and it ran  s   l   o  w  after that until I did a complete render of it. Even then, any change I made and it was back to   s   l   o   w  motion. When I commented here, I had a couple responses to the effect that denoising is so hardware-intensive that most of the time they left that to the final set of things before exporting.
    Hope there's other responses ...

  • Speedgrade CC 2014 becoming increasingly slow while working on a project that was direct linked from Premiere CC.

Speedgrade CC 2014 direct link from Premiere Pro CC 2014.  The application is becoming increasingly slow when making any adjustment or just selecting any buttons on screen.  While working for and hour on my project it is now bordering unresponsive.  In addition it is causing the Finder to become slow and any other applications such as Safari and Mail.
    I'm on a Mac Pro5,1 OS 10.8.5, 6-core intel xeon 2.93GHz, 16gb Ram, Ati Radeon HD 5770 and NVIDEA Quadro 4000 cards.
I'm hoping this is just a setting in speed grade and not a bug.

First, Davinci and  the Adobe DVA's (digital video apps) utilize resources very differently from each other. That said, your hardware is making me green ...
This is something that should fly on your system, so ... I would definitely suggest my previous thing of running that benchmark testing ... it will tell you how your system runs the Adobe stuff, and indicate if anything could be modified so it would work better. Some people with FAR less a system than you're running fly through a DL session. Even my system with only four "real" cores (8 "logical" ones ... whatever ... ), 16Gb RAM, and a GTX770/4Gb vRAM and multiple internal & eSATA drives to split things up for throughput sustained stuff, has been running pretty smoothly. Even though it wasn't using much of the video card, which screams for many people in the Adobe DVA's. This latest set of improvements has pretty much nearly eliminated Sg using it ... so we'll have to puzzle out WHAT is causing Sg and the other apps to ignore my card when in identical setups it's a real beast.
That's the kind of thing that can drive the engineers up the wall. Some of the systems that have had terrible problems such that users have been on here complaining that "no on could possibly be running "serious professional footage & effects" on a system like theirs, didn't you idiots test it?" ... have received the response ... that Kevin or Al or someone is running a completely identical system to almost all tiny respects ... and is flying with 6k footage running a ton of PrPro & Ae effects then worked heavy in Sg. And coasting at it. Not that they at all challenge that the user's system is nearly unusable at the moment ... but figuring out why on two nearly identical setups it works so differently can be rather tedious with hundreds of thousands of lines of code involved, various plugins, and maybe a 2/3rds moon on the third Tuesday.
Like mine. I know quite a few people use this card on the Adobe apps and it's really flying for them. It's been re-installed twice on mine, Windows and all monitoring systems see it fine, but ... even after multiple installs and CC cleaner attempts and such it's not "seen" properly by any Adobe app. So ... off  to run the benchmark to see what all in my system is doing fine ... and if there's any hint as to why that card isn't getting used.
Also ... it would maybe be useful to get Dennis Weinmann or Fran Roig to jump in, maybe get a sample of your project file or info on those LUT's or something, to see if they've got any ideas. Trouble is most of Adobe's staff is on Winter Break for the next week plus.

  • Speed Grade Crashes when rendering

SpeedGrade crashes on me when I try to render graded footage to an h.264 file.  I have tried both mts footage from the canon xh-a1 that has been converted to quicktime as well as footage straight out of the 5D Mark 2.  I can grade the footage, but every time I try to render the footage I get, 100% render completion and then SpeedGrade crashes.  Also no file is ever created from the output. Very Frustrating.  Any thoughts on what could be the problem.
    Thanks

I have been using the English version and It crashes all the same.

Thank you for sending the crash report. This is a known issue and only affects Italian builds. We have isolated this and working on a fix. Please stay tuned and use an English version of SpeedGrade in the meantime. Thanks

  • SpeedGrade crashes with Direct Link

I have been trying to direct link for the last few months to SpeedGrade with no success as it crashes when direct linking. If there is blank space at the start of the sequence  it loads but crashes as soon as you try to move the cursor which jumps onto a clip. It never displays a preview of the video before crashing. I've tried it with various video codecs (ProRes, h.264 and MTS files from a Sony FS700) at 1080p but it seems to crash on anything I've throw at it.
Speed Grade does not crash when starting a new SpeedGrade project and manually adding clips but unfortunately all my original files at present are MTS which SpeedGrade can only open via Direct Link.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Let me know if you need more information.

Yes, we also received some messages about that. We are currently helping Adobe to find a way to make Speedgrade work properly. It is that recent update of Speedgrade that triggered the problem.
The simplest solution for now (for the Mac version of Premiere and Speedgrade) is to move (not copy but move) Neat Video plug-in (alias) from
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-Ins/7.0/MediaCore
    to
    /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CC/Adobe Premiere Pro CC.app/Contents/Plug-Ins/Common/
