Problem in reports on Web Analysis

Hi,Experts..
Here is an interesting question which come across in hyperion reporting..
we have volume and value in our measures..
volume exist for PRODUCT LINE-ASM-VERSION-TIME PERIOD-IDENTIFIER
value exist for PRODUCT LINE-ASM-VERSION-TIME PERIOD.
I loaded data by using header concepts....
In getting reports..i need to club these volume and value(both) to attain other value.How to do this in web analysis....
its an requirement...

hi,
1. let me try to understand in the first place, you have got 2 measures and they are VOLUME and VALUE , and they have got certain values/data existing for specific combination
2. i.e VOLUME against PRODUCT LINE-ASM-VERSION-TIME PERIOD-IDENTIFIER
and VALUE against PRODUCT LINE-ASM-VERSION-TIME PERIOD.
Note: Here, when you had loaded the data for VALUE measure, you must have selected some member ( like IDENTIFIER in VOLUME case).
3. If you can let us know that part, it places us in more comfortable position to recommend.
4. I assume , IDENTIFIED is a member which belongs to a dimension XYZ, and I want to know what is the member of XYZ in VALUE case.

You can edit the Database connection from Web Analysis. Perform the below tasks to edit the database connection..
1) Login to Web Analysis
2) Select the Database Connection which needs to be modified.
3) Right Click then Edit..

Reports in Web Analysis most probably generate MDX queries which are sent to Essbase to fetch the results. I've never come across to something like MDX profiler for essbase as this could have been the only way to capture those queries.

In generating the reports using web analysis for one crucial report.we have version number which is a memebr of version dimension.Based on the version number selected,it must show only the forecasted data and not the actuals data in the report.
How can we show to users in the web analysis reporting. Is there any approach to do at Cube level?
(Thing is that there should be a link between version and time)
Clear explenation: If we select particalar version number "v1003" ,the data must be displayed in the reports from current month to next 24 months,the before actuals must not be displayed.

The Top/Bottom functionality is available via the right click Analysis Tools option. To get to thisget out of design mode and view the report and then right click on the row/col that you want to perform the restriction on.
the Top/Bottom option is then available.

Report In Web Analysis Studio

I am new to web analysis studio. We have essbase application and want to create a report for Top 50 customers. When I am creating report in web analysis then I am able to see the mmember and able to design the layout. But I dont know where to give the Crirteria for top 50 customers. I mean how to restrict the data, when report is pulling from essbase so that it pulls only top 50 customer accounts.
Please help.

SQL Spreadsheet report in Web Analysis 9.3.0.1

We just migrated to 9.3.0.1 from 7.x and have a problem getting the JDBC connection setup for SQL Spreadsheets from Web Analysis. We are running on Windows 2003 and Websphere 5.1.1. In 7.x the configuration was part of the installer or configuration tool, however I cannot find any JDBC setup to allow this in the 9.3.0.1 documentation. We are missing something, just don't know what it is.

I also receive the same error in 9.3.1. At first I thought maybe the query of "Select * from table" wouldn't work without column names being listed, however changing to select specific columns also did not work.
We don't typically use this, however I was able to get this working by using the "Query Builder" option instead of writing my own query. Once I generated the query, drop the SQL subscription object on the report, select the datasource, then you should see the columns from the query.
I also tested this in 9.3.0 and was able to use the query I typed in and did not have to use the query builder button.

Performance of a report in Web Analysis??

•How do u improve the performance of report ?
•In a general store 10 products are there, In that only 8 products are sold. I need a report for the products which are not sold(for 2 not sold). How can u do that report?(apart from Product normal dimension are there,we have a data warehouse for all)

Hi, I agree with Gerd - there's not much tuning you can do in Web Analysis (as compared to FR).
In looking at the query see if you can:
- move single hierarchy members into the POV
- have children and parent in the same row
- arrange dimensions in inverse outline order (faster for essbase retrieves)
- remove excessive formatting/suppression (or conditional formatting/suppression)
- push report calculations back to the data source
We have also found that using lots of dynamically calculated members also slows down reports, so try and limit the number of these.
Maybe build your report up from the basic report to see which dimensions are causing the issue. Or alternatively start with your report and remove columns ;-)
With regard to wishing to show only 2 items, you could add advanced conditional suppression to suppress rows with values.

Strange security issue with reports in Web Analysis.

Hi All,
I am working on Hyperion System 9.3.1 and Reports are developed using Web Analysis. To develop the reports I followed the following sequence.
1) Developed the reports with admin rights on Web Analysis reports and Essbase cube.
2) Create a group with users in Shared services and assign the following roles Analyst, Data Editor,Data Source Publisher,Dynamic viewer,Explorer,Viewer rights in Hyperion System 9 BI+ level and calc access for the database at Analytic Server level.
3) Create a separate folder in Web Analysis studio and copy the WA reports there(say- reports).
4) At workspace level, I gave the access on folder and on report.
Now when I login as one of the member of the group I am unable to see the reports in the folder.
I can see the reports when I login as an admin.
Am I misssing anything or the security I gave is insufficient.

can you tell me what inherit permission you gave to make it work.
I have a folder having a view access only. whenever i make new reports as admin...i cant see my new reports untill i refresh the "apply permission to children" options gain.
But thats not what i m looking for...i want it come on its own when I create a report.

Unable to open reports and web analysis document in workspace

After installing reports and analysis 9.3.1, when I am trying to preview a test report on web or as a pdf preview I am getting these kind of errors.

Required application module analyzer.reportview is not configured. Please contact your administrator.
<BR><BR>
When I click OK on this it says communication error which says <BR><BR>
"http://hyprepdev.acml.com:19000/WebAnalysis/conf/AnalyzerConfig.xml?LOCALE_LANGUAGE=en <H1>SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle /WebAnalysis/conf/AnalyzerConfig.xml has not been defined.</H1><BR><H3>SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle hyprepdev.acml.com:19000 has not been defined.</H3><BR><I>IBM WebSphere Application Server</I>"

Kindly advice.

Try changing the idle connection timeout on your Web Intelligence Processing Server to 60 minutes (from the CMC).
If this doesn't work, please add a trace to the Web Intelligence Processing Server (add a -trace to the command line parameters of the server). and post the log for the relevant time period.

Problem running report in web layout

Hi
I have a problem of running my report in web layout.
If i run the report in web layout it does not show the changes that i made to it , the colors and text sizes and styles, if I used no templates and changed the report manually it will just show the report as before it was modified.
But when I run it in paper layout every works fine.
Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

Also I tested with the sample Report Test.rdf (Comes along with installation).
Even that runs well in Paper Layout and report hangs when run in Web Lay out.

Problem in calculation with web analysis

Here is an interesting quetion...with Web Analysis
I need to calculate mat ov/kg for a site which is obatained by (total value/total volume). When i went for calculation option in analysis tool manager and apply formula this,It is taking for only one site calculation not happening for the other sites.Totally we have 60 sites with us and would not be flexible to calculate it individually.
Is there any possibility to run calc scripts...in web analysis... or how to solve this problem?

It might be because you have set up the 60 sites individually within the Web Analysis grid? We had some difficulty when first using Web Analysis and needed to put the calculations at the highest level using the calc manager. You also have to be careful if there are lots of columns, due to the way the calculation manager applies calcs and formats due to the inheritance.
Another option would be to push the calculation back to the cube, which is best practice as it's easier, more scalable for deployments.

Could anyone help me in what kind of reports exactly generates by the above 3 tools.How we will generate reports using financial reporting.i mean to say what process we will follow .
In a financial domain project , what we will do exactly with the above three tools.
I am quite interested to know as much info as i can on these 3 tools.

This is quite a big subject and you need to do more investigation, but as a starter for ten (these are high level views only)
Financial Reporting - is used to create high quality, high format reports - ideal for finance based use
Web Analysis - is used as a more interactive visual tool, with emphasis on exceptions/graphs and drilling etc
Interactive reporting - is one of the old Brio tools and is more of a BI reporting tool
There is a Query and Reporting forum at Hyperion Query and Reporting that might be useful to post on.

No need to transfer data to Web analysis. The dashboards or the charts in Web Analysis
are directly connected to Essbase for reporting.
