Problem in second level navigation for some users.

Hello friends,
We have a group with few users, we have assigned certain roles to that group, all the roles are visible to all but the order of second level navigatin has changed for some users and not for all. Please suggest some solution.

Is there any merging of roles going on?
When you assign new roles, does the 2nd level navigation contain the same nodes but in a different order, or are there additional nodes added?
Perhaps you can explain in more detail the set up.

Controlling visibility of Second Level navigation tabs in portal

Hello,
I have a request to create second level navigation based on user authorizations. The first level nav is called Applications, the second level navs under it are called SAP and BI. I only want to show SAP for some users and BI for others, and in some cases both.
When I created workset Application and assigned SAP and BI worksets under it, no matter that what authorization I give or not give to the user, both of them show up, unless I remove the role for Application worset, then nothing shows up.
If I remove SAP and BI worksets from Application workset, no matter what I do with roles, they do not show up. I kinda guessed that this will happen but just tried something anyway.
Can someone please explain who this can be done or is it not possible?

Hi Alex,
The navigation structure does not depend on authorizations but only on the roles assigned to the user (directly or through groups).
For your structure, you would create two roles, one SAP role and one BI role. Both roles start with an RoleFolder "Applications" as the role EntryPoint, where the child of this node within the SAP role is the SAP workset and the child of this node within the BI role is the BI workset. To get them merged, you will have to maintain the mergeID property on the corresponding elements; see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/53/89503ede925441e10000000a114084/frameset.htm for details of the merging concept and properties (that is what you are looking for).

Sharepoint Foundation - search working for some users (or computers), but not others

Hi all,
We have doozy of a search problem with SharePoint Foundation 2010 that I'm hoping someone can help with.
We have an application that is listening on port 14197 and search is working just fine, but only for one or two users.
If I do a search while logged in using the account we set the application up with then the search works fine and it returns records as expected.
If I use a different account - one that has full control over the app, then the exact same search fails with the following message:
We did not find any results for 06BSL.
Suggestions:
Ensure words are spelled correctly.
Try using synonyms or related searches.
Try broadening your search by searching from a different site.

We've done everything we can think of, including several procedures to create new search accounts, replace databases, etc.
Nothing has helped and all of the info we can find online is in relation to getting search working when it doesn't work at all. In our case it is working, but only for some users. We thought it might have been a permissions issue, but not matter
what permissions we seem to give to test accounts they still don't work. We've set up a test account, for example, that is a member of the 'application owners' group, but cannot produce any search results with it.
The SharePoint Foundation server is running on Windows 2008 Server Foundation, with a separate SBS 2003 DC.
Any help most appreciated.

Hi Alex, thanks for your response and apologies about the late reply - didn't realise someone had responded until now!
Agreed that this looks like a permissions issue, but we're stumped as to what it could be. The 'test' account displays this problem - if we try and search on 06BSL
we get no results, but it does appear that this account has full control over this document (see below).
Note that the 'Manage Permissions' page presents a comment 'This list item inherits permissions from its parent. (Customer QA & Product Management)' which is what we're
expecting.
The indexing schedule is set to 5 minutes.
Appreciate your help with this, as we've spent a huge amount of time on this problem but don't seem to be any closer to a resolution.

Hover problem in Top Level Navigation

Hi.
We activated hover option for Top Level Navigation.
So, users can hover over first-level entries and immediately see the entries that will appear in the second-level.
The user can then click the second-level entries and navigate to one of these entries.
My Question is
"we want to click first-level entries and moved selected tab like a action without hover. When we click first-level entries, nothing happens"

Check the Accessibility flag in the New User Registration form, if it is ON then it disables Hover feature for the portal.

The answers questions not selectable in quiz slide for some users

We have a SCORM Captivate training content published on our LMS (SAP Learning Solutions). Some users can't respond to any questions in the content.For these users, the answers are locked and are not selectable. Also, the Validate and Erase buttons didn't appear.
The problem concerns about 10% of our users.
This training contains both content slides and quiz slides.
The content is published in SCORM 1.2 (SWF + HTML) with Adobe Captivate 5.5. We had the same problem for some users with the previous version of this training content published with Captivate 4.
All users have the same settings:
Flash Player 10.3.183.11
Internet Explorer 6
Microsoft Windows XP

The most likely reason for this behaviour is that your 10% of users have entered the quiz and then thought they might jump back to the information slides to check the answer. On doing so they have exited the quiz scope which immediately locks the quiz.
Have you actually watched these problem users complete the quiz? If you are able to do so, make sure that once they start the first question, they answer all quiz questions in turn without jumping to any other slides or leaving the quiz. If my hunch is right, the person will be able to successfully complete the quiz.
If the desire is to allow users to jump back to the content section to check information, place a scored button on the first or second slide of your project. This extends the quiz scope and will mean that the user is still within the "quiz" no matter what slide they want to look at.

Adobe Premiere Pro CC launches for some users, but crashes for others.

I am troubleshooting an issue in a college computer lab. Adobe Premiere Pro CC launches perfectly for some users, but crashes for others. All computers are joined to a domain. The program launches successfully under faculty and admin accounts. It launches under my student account and will launch for some students in the class. There are, however, some students who cannot get the program to launch. Each time it fails when attempting to load ImporterQuickTime.prm.
For these students, the following error appears:

I did check Quicktime and it is not updated to the most recent version. However, if it was a result of Quicktime not being up to date, why can some accounts launch the program while others cannot. I have also updated the graphics driver on one computer. No change. I compared my student Active Directory account to that of one student who could not launch the program. They are in exactly the same place in AD and therefore have the same permissions on the domain. This is a puzzling issue and the instructor is getting frustrated. Any help or suggestions with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

About the only thing I can suggest is a "remote control" chat session... when a student with a non-working account is having problems

Restrict the posting period opening and closing for some users

Dear SAP gurus,
I want to restrict some users to open the posting period and for some users close posting periods. I knew that these can be done through authorization group. Pls explain how to create authorization groups and how to use those? Anybody can help me out?

Dear Venkatareddy,
There are two sets of period in OB52. The first set of "From" and "To" is for the authorised group and second set is for the non authorised group. In the "Authorisation Group" (last column) give some 4 charecters name. Say "FICO".
Now ask the basis to attach the object "FICO" for the users who are authorised say user1, user 2 and user3.
Now in the first set of period you can maintain say 1 2008 to 16 2008 and in the second set 1 2008 to 1 2008.
So except user1,2 and 3, all the others can post only in 1 2008. Whereas users 1,2 and3 can post in all the periods of 2008.

How to restrict access to views for some users in the app?

I have an WD application wich embedded in the portal. Appication has 2 iViews (and 2 pages respectively). These iViews consist several views connected with each other (e.g. one view provide list data, second view is add/edit form for this data). I need to restrict access for some users for view with add/edit form. I can't make separate page for this view.
What I've done:
1) create yet another UIContainer for this view in main window and embed view to this container. It was be done for create separate iView for form.
2) in the portal I create iView for this form but don't embedd in any page.
When I try to call my form from list data (that is one iView from another) I get exception:

do you need to remove the IView from the portal menu or do you just want to make a View container in your WD application invisible if the user doesn't have the rights to see it.
If so, you could create your own roles on the app server:
You need to create a new class that extends NamePermission like:

You have to bind the ViewVisibility attribute of the context to the View Container you want to hide.
The applicationAccessPermission you defined in the XML File will be visible in the UME Manager of you J2EE engine. With this action you can create a new role and group that you can map to the users that should see you view.
But, the exception you get is because you have embedded one view twice, which is not possible.

These attachments can't be seen to some of users. So for some users I have to deactivate the Attachmnent List menu button in ME22N. How can I do it?

OBIEE access denied for some users only

we are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4 version on windows envorinment .The users can access the OBIEE reports using 'PORTALPATH' session varible in RPD.For some of the users are got "access denied" while they are accessing for thir particular dashboard.Eariler these user got access this dashboard with out any errors.We dnt changed in our system anything from last three months.
We have no idea why we are getting these error for particular users only.Its Prod issue we need to reslove these error ASAP.

Well its Prod (you have a dashboard called testdashboard in Prod?) anyway - someone might have changed the presentation catalogue permissions on the dashboard. All it takes is for someone to remove 'Everyone' or change a Group permission and it could effect.
If they changed the Parent folder and cascaded the changes down this might cause this issue.
You have a folder called 'Shared' - check the groups that the people are in have 'Traverse' , 'Read' or higher. Also chek dashboard permissions themselves from Settings-Manage Interactive Dashboards - Check the Padlock icon.
Are you users getting allocated into the correct WEBGROUPS ? Is this assisngment done explicitly in the webcat or via an RPD Variable ? Have you checked NQQueryl.log to make sure any init blocks are completing successfully?
Either persmissions have changed or group memebership is not completing.

Please check the maintenace of the condition record, Check the key combination used. The conditon records are mainatined based on the organisational parmeters & the Vendor data.
Please check the PO's in whcih the message are not coming automatically & check the combination exist or not as condition records.

Data Level security for specific Users

Hi,
Can you please suggest some ideas on by-passing the Data Level security for specific users or specific group?
Currently, we have data level security defined on a group permissions for one group and for people belonging to another group, the security should not apply and they should see entire data.
But, key thing here is that, the user belongs to both the groups.
Any ideas helps.

So you are saying you want a user to belong to a group with data-level security filters, but you don't want the filters to apply to that user?
Why are they in the group then?
Are the data filter defined with variables or are the hard-coded?
If variables, you may be able to put logic in initialization block to set the variable appropriately for specific users.
I'd rethink the security model - when I define data level security filters, I tend to force users to only belong to a single group/role.

ESS worksets not visible in second level navigation

I installed ESS 600 sp08 on EP 7.0. I dint changed anything.The ESS worksets should be visible in the second level navigation .But in my case they are not visible in the second level navigation.They are visible in the detailed navigation.
What can be the reason for this?I want the ESS worksets to be visible in second level navigation.

I had experienced this type of problem as well, just to share it could be that the Identity of the Portal user misses a role which can be solved by any user assigning the identity in their identity management or it could also be the connection status of the UWL to the backend, there should be at least two connection statuses for workflow items to get into the UWL I could not recall it but I would post it here once I have the access to our system again.
