Problem in Sleep Mode - Board Z97-Gd65 Gaming

Hello
I have a strange problem with the latest BIOS updates
Motherboard: Z97-Gd65 Gaming
BIOS version: MS-7845 2.50
VGA: MSI 780 Gaming 3G
Bios ver: 80.80.21.00.77
Windows 8.1 64 Bit-UEFI Mode
==================================
The problem appears for system wake-up from sleep mode and has been running the program: Aida64 or program: CPU-Z to read the information board and processor, the device freezes and the blue screen appears
In normal operating mode of the system or reboot everything works okay. The problem appears only when you wake up from sleep mode.
Is there a solution to the problem. Or maybe need to update to a new BIOS chip?

Could you post your other configuration following the >>Posting Guide<<
You can try to use the onboard VGA, to see if it is the VGA card problem.
Board: MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming
Bios: Version 2.5
VGA: MSI 780GTX Gaming 3GB
PSU: Corsair AX760i
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K NO Overclock
MEM: Corsair Venegance Pro 1886 2x8gb 16GB
HDD: OCZ Vertex 4 128GB + WD Blue 1TB +WD Black 1TB
COOLER: Cooler Master V8 GTS
OC: NO
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit
=============================
I will later test the internal graphics card to make sure the problem
But I do not think so because, despite freezing device happens to open tab CPU information for the program Aida64 Or Cpu-z
I wish to access a radical solution

  • Z97 gd65 gaming is now an ORPHAN?

I have the z97 gd65 gaming that isn't listed as one of the bios, beta or otherwise in the "look here first".
Even when I use the MSI support to get the bios, the product drop down display don't have the z97 gd65 gaming listed; must enter the entire name then click on the search icon. The z97 gd65 gaming is a quickly discontinued model?!
Anyway, I was trying to see what is listed for beta bios for the z97 gd65 gaming & find that the board isn't even listed!  Why not?

I got the z97 gd65 gaming since it was available at Fry's & looked to my as an appropriate replacement for the z77 gd65 without the "gaming".
Will "re-register" the motherboard & just hope a serial number is required since I have no desire to open the computer to look for it.
The reason for my checking for beta is that I have 260 loaded as it was downloaded from MSI's support area on 12/06/2014; the 260 is no longer listed & so wondered if it was a beta.  Since it isn't, then I just will reload 250 & hope that the implied malware 260 version haven't done too much on my system as yet.

When the ISP connection goes down and return, sometimes, the network card is bugged.
Sometimes, using the Windows troubleshoting solves the problem.
    Symptoms of BUG
The router not respond the network card Killer e2200, and does not respond to any package.
If any audio is played during the bug, it is accompanied by the noise "pop-pop-pop-pop" that keeps repeating, at a rate of 2 Hz.
    Example(Wireshark images)
bugged - call Router and unresponsive
Normal - Call Router and Router respond
The only computer in my network, having problems with Router is Z97-GD65 GAMING.
The other 5 computers tested, and even smartphones NEVER had any problem with the router.
    workaround
    Reboot PC.
Before display the logo of Win7, the router recognizes the network Killer e2200.
    Solution attempts
    1) Update Bios
    2) Uninstall and reinstall Killer e2200 drivers
    3) Already changed the place of computers in the router output, and only MSI motherboard show this problem.
    Conclusion
The Z97-GD65 GAMING, for every connection fall of ISP,  the user needs to restart for the internet back up and running.
I was forced to restart 3 or 4 times per day, while the entire network operates normally.
The problem is occurring from the first day that I am using the Motherboard, and  delay this time to do all the tests to determine exactly what was happening.

    1) BIOS are flashed using MSI Live update 6.0.0.0
After the update, MSI Live Update presented some problems with Windows 7 64Bits, and I uninstalled it.

    3) I uninstall Killer Manager, and install Killer Driver only.
Functioned normally, but do not know if the problem is resolved.
    EPISODE 2
I downloaded the MSI LIVE new version 6.0.0.13, and test the updates.
The update "Killer Network Drivers (driver Only) 1.1.49.1048" create conflict in the Killer e2200 in Z97-GD65 GAMING.
I install again "Killer Driver only" by Pandaz (Killer_network_inf.zip version 8.1.0.23 03/27/2014), and it worked.
I will monitor 72 hours to see if the problem recurs.

  • MSI Z97 GD65 GAMING bios A dead

I had been using live update for a couple of years now (I had previous MSI boards), but it crashed a couple of days ago whilst upgrading to 2.7. I have switched to bios b which is running 2.0 (I never touched it before so I would have a default back-up available). Anyway, MFLASH doesn't work, if I use the stated method on these forums it just resets after 5 seconds to bios a and then comes up with the usual 3b leading to F2 reboot loop. I tried the forum updater tool, but that doesn't work with my board anyway as there is no bios available on these boards for the Z97 GD65 Gaming. I tried Win98 DOS with FPT, but I get an error come up saying that FPT.exe is not compatible. Is there any other way to restore bios A? I noticed the FPT link on these board has been removed.
Also, Live update tells me that 2.7 is available, and that's what it tried to update to, but when I check the MSI website, it says that 2.5 is the latest version (which is what I already had installed, so basically live update bricked bios A for no reason whatsoever). Yeah, not happy at the moment.
    Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT: Pulled the error log from FPT:
Error 201: [FPT.exe] cannot be run on the current platform.

A.) Download >>this<< bios archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< .
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB from working bios B.
G.) Once it booted successfully switch to bios A without powering down or rebooting
H.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash bios A with desired version

  • GTX 770 SLI on Z97-GD65 GAMING motherboard

    Hi,
I'm planning to buy a Z97-GD65 GAMING motherboard, I'm thinking of getting 2 GTX 770 and SLI bridge them. I see in the motherboard specs that it supports SLI however the compatibility for VGA ( h -t -t- p://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z97GD65_GAMING.html#support-cpu ) under numbers shows 1 for GTX 770 . Does this mean i can only use one card, will i not be able to SLI bridge it ? If this board does not support 2 770s then can you suggest one that will ?
    Thanks,
    Yuva

Guess i will research more on 780ti, thanks a lot this was helpful  . Would there be any difference in performance if i use a ZOTAC GPU instead of a MSI on a MSI motherboard

Log a bug with Apple, with whatever details you can provide.  In the interrim, consider acquiring a router; either a repurposed x86 box running open-source networking or gateway software, or a commercial device.

  • Z97-GD65 Gaming compatibility

    Hi there!
I wonder if anyone knows the compatibility with the Z97-GD65 GAMING mobo to my older Z68A-GD65 mobo.  I'm using Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B memory but on the compatibility it only lists Corsair [Vengeance] CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 or [Vengeance] CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10.  Are they close enough to work?  (I have 4x4GB modules).
Also on CPU I have Intel i5 2500k (Sandybridge) @3.30Ghz socket 1155 LGA which I do not see listed (didn't know there were so many different i5's) even though mine is Haswell and this mobo uses Ivybridge which is compatible with Sandybridge?!
If anyone knows about this I'd be very grateful for the answer.  Thanks!

yes, no way to use this old CPU in newest platform

  • Start up problems after sleep mode

    Hi,
Half of the time when I put my mid 2010 MacBook Pro in sleep mode by closing the screen it won't restart once I open the screen back again (the screen remains black). This hasn't happened that many times before, but now its becoming more frequent. The only way I can restart my Mac is by holding the on/off button for a few seconds.
Does anyone had similar problems or knows who I could resolve this issue?
I would appreciate any help on the matter
    I run:
    OS X version 10.9.5
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13-inch

    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. Please read the whole article carefully (some of it is hidden by disclosure triangles) and don't skip any of the steps, including the ones under the heading "Additional troubleshooting." If you don't understand any of the steps, ask for guidance.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
              Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
    Step 3
In the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked
Put hard disks to sleep when possible
    Step 4
This and the next step must be taken as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You may see one or more reports with a name that begins with "Sleep Wake Failure" followed by a date. Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
    Step 5
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ Diagnostic and Usage Messages
In the search box in the window's toolbar, enter "powerd" (without the quotes.)
You may see one or more lines like this:
    com.apple.message.signature: Platform Failure
If you do see that, and you did everything in the preceeding steps, then you're dealing with an internal hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Problem with sleep mode in Win 7

    Hello Friends,
I have a great problem after Windows 7 updated itself. I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L505D. When I close the lid, it should automatically go to the sleep mode. Unfortunately, only the screen is black and the laptop is still running, I have to shut it down then switch on again. Is it a problem with the 'battery driver'?Please, help me :)

Before you continue to wait for solution and waste your time back-up all your important data and reinstall OS again using HDD recovery installation - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
After doing this you will have clean preinstalled and well working OS again.
The first thing you should do after OS installation is to disable automatic Windows update. Do it manually and install important updates only.

  • Problem with sleep mode!!! Help!!

I have an Ipod nano and recently updated it. Since then, when my ipod automatically goes to sleep mode it no longer plays the music/audiobooks I listen to, when it would continue before. This is terribly inconvienent and pretty much goes against the whole point of listening to my ipod. HOW do I fix this?! I can only guess it was part of the update. Help

There is another thread about the sleep/wake mode issue as well. I really didn't think that this was my issue until you said that the update included a change in this specifically. I'm not sure why the headphones would start playing music through them until it was plugged in all the way--that would be a better way of preventing this problem and not causing this misunderstanding with the sleep/wake mode. But my issue is that I can not push the headphones in any farther (it does make that click sound and it is clear it is in)...but this problem hasn't been since I bought the nano, just since the update so I know it is related to this change. So basically I have to buy new headphones because of the update??? What I was doing before was unplugging the headphones from the nano in hopes the music would not start playing again in my bag. That seemed to be working fine. Isn't there another solution for people who have the headphones in as far as they can go and don't want to have to replace their headphones?

  • Problems with sleep mode in 10.4.7

I recently upgraded to OS 10.4.7 and now the sleep mode doesn't work like it used to. On all other versions of the OS, i'd put the computer to sleep and whenever I wanted to start it up again I'd wiggle the mouse or hit any key on the keyboard. Now, neither of those work. The system goes into sleep mode as usual, but the only way to wake it is by hitting the power button on the tower. Is this an OS bug? Is there a fix? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    G4 MDD 1.42 Dual, 1.5GB RAM, 4 Hard drives (1 system, 1 media, 1 render, 1 elements)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If your Mac happily goes to sleep but won't wake up--Hold down the power switch to force-reboot your machine and get it running again.
Don't worry-your Mac isn't narcoleptic. Its Open Firmware system or NVRAM (nonvolatile RAM) is likely corrupt, and your Mac can't remember how to wake up.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Command-Option-O-F key combo until you see a somewhat intimidating command-line display that ends with the Open Fimware prompt. Type the following line:
    reset-nvram
press the return key on your keyboard
    set-defaults
    press return
    reset-all
    press return
Your Mac will reboot. Once it's running, put it back to sleep to test. If the problem recurs your Energy Saver preferences may be the culprit. Delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (go to Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)--don't worry, your Mac will regenerate a new one--and then restart to see if that rights the wrong.
Still did'nt work? Might be time to call AppleCare or see an Apple Genius or a technician.
    Cheers!

  • Problem with sleep mode-T400

    Hey Guys,
I have a lenovo T-400, Windows Vista Home Basic 32Bit. When I put my computer to sleep and try to wake it up within 5 minutes, it wakes up but it doesn't wake up when the sleep time goes beyond 5 mins.
Here are the "few" things that I have tried:
    1) Installed Windows Xp Pro(Service Pack 2 and 3)
    2) Installed Windows Vista Home Premium( My own Copy)
    3) Installed Windows Vista Home Basic( Lenovo Recovery Disks)
    4) Installed Service packs for the above mentioned windows.
    5) Ran Lenovo System Update and updated all softwares(Including BIOS, Power Manager and Display Drivers)
    6) Ran Lenovo System Toolbox(which says everything is working fine)
    7) Called Lenovo Customer Care every other day for past one month-with no success)
    8) Turned Security Chip as "Active" in the bios( as suggested by someone in this forum)
    9) Spoke to Lenovo Customer Support to replace my laptop( but they say that it is not a hardware issue so they can't do anything about it)
    10) Visited many windows forums and tried installing windows hotfix meant to cure this problem but again no success.
    11) I have also tried matching settings of my laptop with another T400 laptop(in which sleep mode works), but no success.
12)Finally I was suggested by a friend to use this forum and that I would definitely get a solution here.
Please help me. I am a student and therefore the proper functioning of sleep mode feature is very important for me.
Also, My laptop is under warranty for one more year.

    Hi,
Have you check you settings in Power Manager. If you start it, switch to advanced mode and check inactivity settings for the power profile you are using  you will find that you can set times for shutting down certain things. Look if you have things set to shutdown after 5 minutes.
The obvious suspect would be that you have set the machine to hibernate after  5 minutes (although this seems very short). Once you have found the "suspect" change the time to verify that this is what causes the problem.

  • Problem with sleep mode reset

When my iPhone is unattached from the charging source and the phone goes into sleep mode it automatically, continuously resets itself and kills the battery. There is no way to take the phone out of this cycle unless it is plugged back into a charging source. Once plugged in the phone will automatically turn on and function normally. If the settings on the phone are changed so the phone does not enter a sleep mode the phone functions normally. If the phone is plugged into the power source and goes into sleep mode it does not reset itself, it functions normally. Can someone please help with this problem. I have already completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software via Apple consultant at 800-my-apple.

by "wake up" i mean not powering it up from start. but wake it from sleep. (push sleep button, so it goes dark. then push home button to wake it up again. try swiping up.)
This problem do not happend everytime.
can`t find out when it does.
    Thanks for awnsere.

It's me again, in last thread :

The sleep mode worked perfeclty for couple of days and it is again gone.. What is more when I try to enter the sleep mode I can't do anything on the notebook , it is still running on blank screen and the processors' fan is working on high speed. During these last days, when the sleep mode worked, windows didn't update itself..
I don't know what is happening.. :) Weird problem, isn't it?

It is not easy to say why this happen. In your last posting you wrote about some windows updates. Who knows what is wrong there.
If nothing helps, not even system restore and you want to use stand-by mode I recommend you to back-up all your data and install OS again using recovery mode.
With factory settings everything will be OK again but then be careful with updates.
