Problem in trying to uninstall firefox 5

I am trying to uninstall Firefox 5. I am using a desktop with XP Pro.
Nothing happens when I go to the contol panel and uninstall. I click on remove and nothing happens.
I also went to C:\program files\mozillafirefox\uninstall but their is no helper.exe file.
The other option would be how do I transfer my bookmarks from IE8 to Firefox.

  • I am trying to uninstall firefox and when i click uninstall it says the program is still running so i stop it and it exits the remove program

im trying to uninstal firefox so i went to my control pannel clicked on add or remove progams then clicked on mozzola firefox and clicked remove it said it was still running so i clicked ctrl alt dlt and clicked task manager and ended firefox from running and when i did that the box to uninstall firefox exited so i clicked it again and the program started running again i dont know what to do i need firefox uninstalled

I assume you are using windows. There are two options:
    1. Try restarting your computer and then try uninstalling.
    2. Firefox might be a program that starts immediately upon booting. In that case, go to the task manager, end all tasks that firefox is running. Then try uninstalling firefox

  • I'm trying to uninstall firefox and reinstall it as it keeps freezing, but it wont close and so I cant reinstall it. How can I fix this?

For the last fortnight or so, firefox kept freezing, but it would always fix itself within a minute or so. I did a computer scan and everything was clean and I reduced the number of tabs I had open to try and speed things up, but even when I had only one tab open, it would freeze. Today, it froze and hasnt fixed itself even after 5 hours, and after ive restarted my laptop. A message keeps popping up about 'a script has stopped working' and whatever I press makes no change (stop script, or continue). Im trying to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but I can't uninstall it until the programme is closed. But I cant close it as it is completely frozen. How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advcance.

Usually uninstalling and reinstalling only helps if the program files are damaged. When the issue if an add-on or setting, then you wouldn't expect to see any change. (I am assuming that you do not remove all your personal data, as that would blow away your bookmarks.)
If this started after you installed Firefox 27, do you want to test whether Firefox 26 still works smoothly? This article has a link to download the installer from Firefox 26 (you need to visit using Firefox 27 to get the link): [[Install an older version of Firefox]].

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Using control panel - uninstall - it says it cannot proceed until Firefox closes. I can find no sign of it running but it must be somewhere.

  • I am trying to unistall firefox 20 and install the newest firefox version but it won't unistall. It remembers all my data if I install again.

I am trying to uninstall Firefox 20 and get the newest version which I think is version 21? It will not let me unistall it when I go to the start menu and hit on unistall a program and then choose Firefox. It shows, " Please wait while firefox is unistalling," but it never uninstalls. The green bar never moves. I tried to uninstall it manually and then install firefox 21 but then firefox 20 came back up (after I installed the new version) with all my saved data. It looked like it did before I uninstalled it manually, or thought I did.
I don't want any of my data. Just a fresh page!
I just want the firefox startpage, no google, yahoo, etc... I can't figure this out. Apparently, i am more technically challenged than previously thought!
If anyone can help, please let me now. I run Windows 7 pavilion notebook.

#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

  • How can I uninstall firefox when the add/remove programs in control panel doesn't work, nor does opening it in the run command?

I tried to uninstall firefox using the control panel, add/remove programs. When I click on remove it does nothing. Then I tried using run, firefox, uninstall, helper and this does nothing either. Is there another way to remove it or repair it? I am using windows xp not 2000.

For details of how to manually remove Firefox see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox - it gives details of the folders you need to delete.
What is your problem with Firefox, re-installing Firefox does not normally fix problems.

  • How do I uninstall firefox when I cannot find it in 'add/remove program'

I am trying to uninstall firefox from my window 7 notebook but I cannot find it under 'add/remove program' in control panel. I have come across suggestion to delete the Mozilla firefox folder from program x86 but I worry that this method may create problem by leaving orphans in the registry.

    The uninstall instructions are here
    * [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer]]
You appear not to be posting from Firefox and so I wonder have you already uninstalled it ?
Uninstalling, gives you an option to leave behind personal information. If you will never use Firefox again you may not need that and the Firefox profile may be deleted. Possibly the profile folder is what you are seeing. Note the profile contains your Firefox bookmarks and normally if uninstalling Firefox you may wish to first of all export those as HTML that may be used elsewhere as bookmarks / favourites.

  • I want to uninstall firefox but it tells me i need to close it i have checked on taskl manager and firefox does not show as being open. I have Windows 7 OS

I have Windows 7 OS on my desktop. I had trouble with IE9 loading a shoutbox in a Carers Forum I belong to. I loaded Firefox and it allowed me to use the shoutbox okay. But when I tried to access the games aracade it told I needed to download Adobe Flashplayer (the games play okay on IE9). I tried to download Adobe Flashplayer and it downloaded halfway, then told me I needed to close Firefox for the download to continue. I have made sure that it was closed by checking Task Manager to see which applciations were open. I get the same message if I try to download using IE9. I have tried to uninstall Firefox using Control Panel, but I get the same message saying I need to close Firefox... again i checked Task manager but it says it is not running.
