Help me... I was trying to updated my X10 and in middle my laptop got restarted and now my mobile is not starting up and even PC companion is not connecting to my phone.. when i on my phone it just shows sony ericsson and then get swithc off.. can any one help me on this.

Problem While updaing the around 25 lacs record

Hi,
we have the more the 25 lacs in DB table we introduced the new Column in that table so that column contain the null values for that
25 lacs record now we need to update the all record with particular value based on the primary key of that table
so we wirte the cursor to findout the all record and then update the all record with particular value based on the promary key
But it take lot of time to execute .
is there any way that we can excute this query fater means we can update the record in faster way.

AsUpdating null columns has the little problem that an index on such a column is usually not used. One workaround would to create a multi column index first.
For example on the NULL column and on the ID column. Then do a single update like this.
UPDATE yourTable t
SET t.col1 = (conditional select from some other tables WHERE t.id = otherTable_fkid)
WHERE t.col1 is null;

My install problem/firmware upda

I have an ASUS A8N32 Deluxe...with a fresh Windows XP Pro install
in PCI slot : I get to the 8% driver install...then BSOD
in PCI slot 2 and 3: I get the multiple lists of devices in device manager
4 Multimedia audio control
PCI Device
22 VGA device
From all my searching through on here, it appears I may need the FIRMWARE update?
What needs to be done? Anyone go through the process yet?

Interesting side note.
I downloaded the drivers from this site....installed them instead of going through the CD install.
and I had sound....but then got the....in order to take affect you must reboot....so I did....and booted into the BSOD repeatedly...until I started with my last known good boot. Which of course got rid of the drivers and started me back at ground zero

I am running OS X10.4.11 Recently I have been having trouble opening entourage, word, safari, excel, etc on a cold start It has been taking 3 attempts each time getting a message that the program quit unexpectedly. Seems like a virus. What can I do?

1st attempt to open an application after the computer has been shut down a message says(as an example)" the application PowerPoint quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. New settings have been created for this application. Do you want to use these settings from now on? Then there are 2 buttons below the dialogue box that say "Use new settings and Use original settings" This happens every time I try to open Power Point, Excel, Safari, Entourage the first time each new day. If I have been running any of those programs and have not shut down the laptop then the program will reopen normally but may shut down unexpectedly on its own and sometimes not. What changed and how do I fix this problem? Running OS X10.4.11 and software updates are current. Ran diagnostics and checked out ok.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

I have taken Nokia N8 in the month of March. It was all working fine and all of sudden I am noticing that the Ovi store is not opening tried resetting to factory settings, It did not help. Tried reinstalling the Ovi It also did not help. I went to Nokia Care and they said that they need to upgrade the software, They did but after that also the Ovi store is not opening they were also not able to install the ovi. they said that they need to check and if they cant then they need to send it to Delhi, I asked them for a Back up phone but they say that they cant give. what is this we take a Branded mobile paying such huge amount and when we have to give it service they say it will take a week to 10 days and for a time untill they confirm when they would give the mobile they cant provide a back up phone. Its really bad on Nokia. Its damaging the reputation of Nokia. Can this be looked into. Well I went to nokia care expecting a good hospitality but I felt like I went an Open market where if you want leave it else please keep moving....

Overclocking of MSI K8N neo platinium

Before when I had just one memory chip(512mb in slot 1), I had no problem to run 235Mhz x10. All I had to do was the following :
Put hdd in SATA 4
Set AGP to 68Mhz
Adjust cpu voltage from 1.45 - 1.55v
Set mem. clock to 166Mhz (sense it will increase as you raise the FSB)
Now I`ve bought one more identic memory chip. I have now 2x512MB memory placed in slot 1 and 3.
I followed the same steps as above, but with terrible results. Max 215Mhz x10 stable.
I`m pretty sure it`s not the memory chips that`s the problem, as they run stable
with original settings ( witch is higher speeds (200Mhz) than those I run on the memory when overclocking (166 - 195Mhz).
I would be greatfull for any tips or solutions that you might think would help me (and others) to reach better o/c results.

try slots 1+2 instead of 3, i have found that i can't oc very well in 1+3 either.

What I want to do in the following method is very straight forward. First, I will remove all components inside the namesPanel, then reset the layout and add new things back to the panel. However, now it does not clean up things. For example, if I set numberOfPlayers to 10, and call this method, 10 users info will be shown. Then if I set numberOfPlayers to 2, more than 2 users' info will be shown! Some info from the previous 10 users will be left behind. Is there a better way to clean up things?
Also, if I call this method right after I add the namesPanel to its parent panel, which will be added to the contentPanel of JFrame, it won't work, but it will work if I call it after that through the actionPerformed method. The value of numberOfPlayers is set by a JComboBox. When a user selects an item, numberOfPlayers will be changed, and the populateNames() will be called through the actionPerformed method. HT4101 Has anyone else experienced a problem with their X10 after transferring pictures to an iPad?

Following the transfer of pictures to an iPad 2 or new iPad (3rd gen) via the SD Card Reader in Apple’s iPad Camera Connection Kit, the card has to be reformatted by the camera to get it to work properly. Not reformatting impacts the X10’s ability to turn on and off when turning the Zoom ring. Sometimes the indicator lamp just blinks (amber) and the camera turns on after approximately 20 seconds or does not turn on at all. In Playback mode, it also takes about 20 seconds before the camera monitor (display) comes up. Once in Live or Playback mode the camera seems to operator normally and can switch back and forth. Although the issue is not completely debilitating – it limits my ability to back up and edit pictures on my iPad when traveling and severely impacts the camera’s ability to ready for a shot. My X10 has firmware Ver. 1.03 and both iPads are running iOS 5.1.1 – the latest available.

I'm having the exact same problem with a Fujifilm X100 when using a 32GB SD card. I tried it with an old 4GB card and it worked fine. With the 32GB after connecting to the iPad with the SD Card reader the camera becomes unresponsive until reformatting. Not sure if this is a problem with storage capacity of the cards?
I'm running firmware version 1.3 on my camera and iOS 6 beta 4 on my iPad 3.

Connection Doctor says everything is connected. i can send mail from the server's own web site ,just not from the Apple Mail program.
The problem did begin when I was travelling from one hotel to another.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried going into the Library and deleting the mail plist file(s), which fixes the problem, but only temporarily. Would appreciate any help here too!

DVD drive problems after 10.4.7 updae

I successfully completed a 10.4.7 update after a nuke & repave of the internal hard disk. At the moment the only applications on my machine are Mac OS 10.4.7 and the iLife suite.
Since I installed 10.4.7 I'm having a problem with the internal DVD drive (PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D Rev. A612) not working properly. On the first boot with the new OS the drive wasn't listed in System Profiler. I rebooted and now the drive is listed, but when I put in a DVD I get the tik-tik noise of the drive searching. Sometimes (maybe 1 in 5 attempts) it does detect the disk and mount it. Any ideas?

There's a cludgy solution to getting access to the disks which I'm finding works sometimes.
I created a new folder, e.g. "dvd" in my "Documents"
Inserted a DVD and clicked to ignore the fact that the Mac wouldn't read it.
Then using Terminal I mounted /dev/disk1, using the "dvd" folder as the mounting node:
"/sbin/mount_cd9660 /dev/disk1 ./dvd" when I was in "Documents"
Then I could get into the folder. I've found that the "mount" command wouldn't do it, and neither did "mount -t iso9660", but mount_cd9660 seams OK.
Other things to note:
If you want to watch a movie, you can similarly "ignore" the error message when you insert the disk, and then go to the File->Open Disk menu in VLC.
But Apple needs to get this lot sorter!

On the Topic on Operating Systems I asked how to upgrade my OS 10.3.9 to 10.4 Tiger. I purchased the incorrect discs and they would not load in my computer. I now understand what discs to use. However, since I attempted to load one of the disks and was told it could not be loaded in my computer, I have had difficulty starting my computer. I get the sound when I start it but then the screen goes gray and I get a square the size of a postage stamp in the middle, blue with what looks like a map of North America in it. When I try to get rid of it by pressing Esc, Option & Command and Command and Q or Command and. it eventually changes to a smaller file-like ikon that blinks. I continue to press the above and eventually my computer opens. What can I do to stop this and open my computer in the normal way? Many thanks...

Hello Walter - I am glad your problem has been resolved. What was probably not stressed enough in the posts you read is that you have to have a retail version of any new OS you want to install. Failing that, you would have to get install discs for exactly the same model iMac you have.
Make sure, that when the Keene store installs Tiger for you, that they give you the install discs so you can boot from them if you have any other problems. You might also consider getting more memory, you are operating with the bare minimum. Don't buy it at the Apple store, order it on line from [macsales.com] or [newegg.com] or [smalldog.com] it's much less expensive and really easy to install. Make sure that whatever memory you do buy has a lifetime guarantee.
