  • Unable to view PDFs from the Safari browser.

I am using Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader 10.1.0, running on OS 10.6.8.  Until recently I had no problem but am now unable to view PDFs from websites.  What I get is a totally black document.  I can create PDF files which I can also open outside of the internet.  Any ideas??

There seems to be an issue with Adobes plugin and Safari 5, your options are:
Wait for it to be updated.
Uninstall the plugin nd let Quicktime handle it.
Install Schuberts PDF plugin from http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/

  • Problem with creating pdf from Microsoft Publisher 2013

We are having problems in creating pdfs from Microsoft Publisher2010- When the function 'Adobe PDF' is selected and 'Print' is clicked on nothing happens. The progress bar just sits there for several minutes without creating a pdf. We have to click on cancel and when this is done this crashes Microsft Publisher.
I have repaired this using the repair facility in Acrobat 9. I have also uninstalled Acrobat 9 and reinstalled this.
I have also uninstalled Adobe Reader XI and reinstalled Adobe Reader 9.
Before uninstalling Acrobat I also ran the updates but this didnt help either.
This is on a Windows 7 PC (64-bit)
    Adobe Acroabt 9 Pro Extended
    Microsoft Publisher 2010.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

MS Publisher 2010 is not supported by the Acrobat 9 Family; and the PDFMaker extension for Publisher has been removed completely from the Acrobat XI Family, so upgrading won't help either. Sorry!

  • I have installed Lion and have problems to print PDF from prewiev.

I have installed Lion and have problems to print PDF from prewiev. When trying to print Prewiev locks. Anyone out there with the same problem?

    Hello David and Nicole
I just installed Lion on my iMac, which was purchased in 2007, and I cannot print from Preview; it keeps locking up and not responding. So, I have to force quit Preview. I have been sending error reports to Apple. I suggest everyone who has this problem, send error reports!
I can print from other applications, like Pages, with my Canon Laserjet. I do not think it is a printer issue becasue I can print in other application.
I took your advice and installed Adobe reader. Now I can print pdf's.
    Thanks

  • I have a problem creating a pdf from within Firefox using the print to function.

I have a problem creating a PDF from within Firefox. I get an error message stating that Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated. Acrobat Pro then opens. If it try to create the PDF again, the same problem. I have FF ver 3.6.10 and Acrobat Pro 8 (from Acrobat CS3).

  • Problems with sending PDF from iPad to PC?

I am having problems sending a PDF from an iPad. The email is sent and can be read on any Apple device, however it is not viewable on a PC. To complicate things more, the first sending of the email to the PC in not viewable, once it is forwarded to another, the email is viewable just as on an Apple device. I have had this problem with to different apps which led me to belive Mail was suspect. I removed the mailbox and re-installed it with no fix. I think my next move is to reset the iPad. Has anyone had the same problem and come up with a solution?

I've had exactly the same issue
I had (mistakenly) believe the issue had been resolved its new app updates but it hasn't
Today I emailed a signed document using SignNow app. Mindful of previous iPad PDF compatibility issues, I sent myself a copy to my gmail account that I have on my MacBook
Everything appeared to be fine so I then emailed it to the recipient (using a PC) who promptly emailed back to say they hadn't received anything!
This is the second time within two weeks.
Eventually I had to email it to my Mac email account, open in Adobe then 'save as' PDF the. Email it back to my iPad email account so I could then forward onto the recipient.
I had originally believed this to be an app issue but having used SignNow as well as TypeOn now realise it's something peculiar about Mac/PC formatting.
    SORT IT OUT APPLE!

  • Problem creating a PDF from the "print view" of a web page

When creating a PDF from the "print view" of a web page, the features in the print dialog box overlap. When the PDF is created, the words are garbled. e.g. words apppear as jzhhhxxf or zxihcj.

Use a job settings that embeds the fonts. If you look at the PDF, the font properties probably do not look correct and don't include embedded fonts. Also, set the printer to Adobe PDF before you try to do a print, so that the web page can try to properly adjust to the printer.
Why not just try opening the web site directly in Acrobat?

  • Viewing PDFs from IE9 in Acrobat X Pro?

I am having trouble opening PDFs from the web in Acrobat X Pro.  I generally use IE9, but I also have the problem in Firefox.  I would like any PDF I open, whether from the web or one that is saved on my harddrive to be opened in Acrobat and not in the browser window (or in Acrobat Reader for that matter).
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Her is what happens.  If I click on PDF link from a website, a downloading window appears and then quickly disappears.  The PDF never displays, and there is nothing in my downloads folder. If I right click on the link and "Save Target As...", then I can save it to my computer and open it from my harddrive. I don't want to be forced to do that. I just want to open it and read the document.  I just purchased CS5 Web Premium about a week ago, and this didn't happen when I first loaded the software.  Somewhere along the way I have changed a preference in Adobe or on IE which has affected reading documents.
    What I have done:
I have downloaded Adobe Reader X, and set the display preference to Display PDF in Browser.  This seems to have allowed me to view the PDF in the browser window.
When I loaded Adobe Reader the option to 'Display PDF in Browser" was greyed out in Acrobat and it show Reader in the path on the preferences window.
    Has anybody experienced this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Cannot view pdf from a secure web site

I have no problems viewing pdf's normally. But if I am on a secure page (https://), the pdf won't load. This happens on two different web sites, both the Cox cable site and USAA insurance, I am unable to view my statements which are in pdf. I can get around it on the USAA site by choosing to save the pdf instead, and then viewing it locally, but the Cox site doesn't give me that option. I pick a statement month, then it opens up a new tab and goes to a secure page where it appears to try to download the pdf statement- to then try to display in the browser window, I guess? At any rate, there is a little download icon down in the left corner of the status bar, but the progress bar never completes. It just fizzles out and I'm left with a blank page. I had these problems when I used XP Home Edition and nothing has changed under Vista Home Basic. Interestingly, I have no problem viewing my statements on either site from my work computer, which uses XP Pro. I was running Reader 8 on my home system and just recently upgraded to 9, but with no change with this problem. At work Reader 7 is installed.
So it would appear to be a setting on my computer, a limitation of the low-end OS's, or some difference between Reader 7 and 8/9. I am mystified as to exactly what it could be, however. Anyone have any experience with this issue?
UPDATE: Found the answer to my problem! Did a little more searching on these forums and found the culprit setting, but maybe my post will help someone else out if they happen to find it first during their search. Anywho, uncheck the Do not save encrypted files to disk under Internet Advanced Options under Tools :)

Just tried it here against Vibe 3.2. Indeed the problem seems to lie with the simple interface Vibe offers to mobile devices. Have not tried what happens on an iPad but would suspect the same behavior - curious it seems to work there as you report?
The Android app also has this issue as it uses the simple interface.
    Two workarounds:
-download and open the PDF by clicking on the attachment links found further down on the page where you are trying to open the pdf
-use desktop mode on the browsers (selectable at least in Opera and Dolphin)
I'll drop this in as bug if there is not already one opened against it.
    Cheers,

  • Problem in viewing PDF File.

    Hi All,
I created a servlet which reads the PDF file from the file system and to show it in the browser. And I attached the URL in my HTML Page. Whenever I click on that URL it is activating PDF viewer in the browser and browser is showing the blank page. But, The moment I refresh the page I was able to view the PDF document. I am sure this is not a coding problem. It looks like some problem with the plug-in. I tried by reinstalling the Acrobat Reader 5.0 still I am facing the same problem. I am using Windows2000 Professional, SilverStream 3.7.is the application Server. Database is Oracle 8i.
I want to avoid the second step(i.e refresing the page to view PDF document). Can any one help me out in this matter.
Thanks in advance for helping me out in this problem.
    Thanks
    Shivaji

I've been working on displaying pdf from a servlet, and although I don't know exactly what your situation is, here is how I served up the pdf file from the servlet using the HttpServletResponse object.
byte[] data = getFileBytes();// from somewhere
                response.setContentType("application/pdf");
                response.setContentLength(data.length);
                java.text.SimpleDateFormat dateFormat = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("EEE, dd MMM yyyy - HH:mm:ss z");
                response.setHeader("Expires", dateFormat.format(new java.util.Date()));
response.getOutputStream().write(data); //Write out the pdf report
                response.getOutputStream().flush(); //flush the buffer

  • Acrobat 7.0.5 for Windows -- Problem creating a PDF from a TIFF image

I have a user who is attempting to create a PDF from a TIFF image using the Adobe PDF print driver (Acrobat 7.0.5). His computer is a 3.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM. His operating system is WinXP Pro SP2. The TIFF file he is trying to convert is about 2000 pages long. Is this even possible given the hardware and resources I've described?

Sorry, I should have been more explicit...The TIFF image is a multi-page image and is stored in a database here at our office. The user has a proprietary (internally-coded) viewer that's used to open the image from the database, and there's no way to save the image locally. The user wants to be able to search within the image, so he converts it to a PDF. Ordinarily, this works very nicely, but this is his first time trying to do it with an image of more than 1000 pages length.

  • Problems printing to PDF from PPT 2K7

    Hi All,
I am wondering if someone here can help me. I have a user that is having an issue printing to Adobe PDF from Powerpoint 2007. He can save the file as a PDF but wants to print it so he can get a better resolution.
Office 2007 is installed on an Dell 980 XP machine SP3...
Adobe CS4 Design Premium is also installed.
When selecting 'Adobe PDF' printer and clicking OK the process starts but then crashes PowerPoint and bombs out... The error log generated saya this...
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%
    Stack:
    /mFS
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
His colleague has the same software installed on a different machine and it works fine. I also setup a new laptop with everything installed for him and he had the same issue there... We don't use roaming profiles, so really don't understand this at all.
Would someone here be able to help me out with the error log above?
    Many Thanks,
    Matt

Is this problem with every ppt file? Can you create a PDF through the Acrobat Ribbon (click Acrobat in the PPT 2k7 menu and then click create PDF)?
Can you share your ppt file with us so that we can reproduce the issue at our end.

  • Calibrating Color in Windows XP to view PDFs from a Mac

This topic could be best suited in the "Acrobat for Windows" forum but I thought I would share this in the "Acrobat for Mac" forum since other Mac-based designers may have encountered my issue.
I have a customer in another city and all of their staff, who work with me, use Windows XP on Dell desktops with Dell LCD flat displays.
Four the past four years they have been happy with reviewing my designs as Review PDFs, exported from InDesign CS, CS2 and CS3, and initiated for review and comment with Acrobat 7 Professional. They have been satisfied with the color representation from viewing my PDFs on their screen, with free Adobe Reader, and they like the speed and cost cutting that results from not requiring a printed calibrated color proof to sign off on before going to press. When I export to PDF from InDesign, I make my Destination Profile "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2" and I include the Destination Profile.
Then I designed a poster for them that was mostly teal (a color between green and blue. They saw the color as medium blue on their screens and approved job to go to press. They were disappointed to find the final printed pieces looking teal.
I know there is expensive third party calibration software out there but is there adequate color calibration for my non-technical customers using Windows XP on Dell LCD Displays?
I use Apple CRT Displays an I use the OS X System Preferences/Displays dialog to set my color temperature to 65000 and my Gamma to 1.8 and then I use the slider controls to adjust for the ambient light in my office. The color I see on my monitor is the same color I get when my design projects come off the printing presses.
Does Windows XP have software monitor controls to give the Dell workstations basic generic color calibration? Does XP let the user adjust the color temperature and Gamma settings?

  • Problem with exporting PDF from Indesign CS6

    Hi,
I recently registered & installed CS6 on my computer (Last week!), and I seem to have problems with Indesign, which is the main reason for my buying the product.
The problem is that whenever I try to save & export a file as PDF from Indesign I get an error message (See attached file).
The files are saved with 0KB size, and so the Acrobat reader can't open them for preview.
This really interrupts my work, and backs up the entire comapny schedule.
I already tried updating, and uninstalling&re-installing the suite - but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated, and we need it ASAP.
    Thanks in advance,

Without proper system info and details about what PDF settings you actually used and how and where you save your files, nobody can say anything. You could simply be doing something silly like using PDF/A, but trying to enforce high-res pictures or whatever. In any case, ask in the ID forum.
