Problem in Visual Composer Installation

Hi,
I am trying to install the VC Server on my system. I have installed the required components like
1.     MS SQL Server 2000 DE
2.     IIS
3.     MS Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or higher
4.     Microsoft XML Parser 4.0
5.     Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0
Now, when i try to install the VC, in one of the wizard screen, it is asking me to enter the server details and login details.. I gave "sa" userid and pwd.. in that screen, but.....
i am getting an error "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" . But, the SQL Server is already running...
Please help me out to get rid of this message and install it properly.

3.4 Installing Visual Composer Storyboard
To install Visual Composer Storyboard, you must first check that the SQL server is configured
according to Visual Composer requirements. Following the prerequisite software installation,
you install Visual Composer Storyboard on the Visual Composer server machine.
Procedures
To configure the SQL server:
1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs ¨ Microsoft SQL Server ¨
Enterprise Manager.
2. Under the Console Root ¨ Microsoft SQL Servers list, locate your machine, right-click
on it and select Properties.
3. In the SQL Server Properties dialog box, click the Security tab. Then select SQL Server
and Windows as the Authentication option and System Account as the Startup service
account option and click OK.
To activate IIS security features:
1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Settings ¨ Control Panel ¨ Administrative
Tools ¨ Internet Services Manager.
2. From the Internet Information Services tree, expand your machine node and expand
the Default Web Site tree.
3. Right-click the VCServer folder and from the context menu, choose Properties.
4. In the VCServer Properties dialog box, open the Directory Security tab.
It runs well as soon I put the local account to run the services (as said in the installation guide too).

Hi
I have a problem installing Visual Composer on SAP EP NW04 Stack 10.
I have downloaded VC from Service Marketplace version NWVC60_0-20000504.zip.
I reach the problem where I should Connect to the SQL Database Server
Enter connection details
Host name: my host
Default TCP/IP Port: 1433
DB Name: VCDB
Username: sa
Password: mypassword
Then I get the following error:
Failed to connect to database server - the log says the following
[DBMSLPCN]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
[DBMSLPCN]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
Have anoyone reached the same error or have a solution on this problem?

Hi Kay-Arne,
Please check if the authentication you are using to connect to SQL server is windows only, if this is the case change it to SQL Server and Windows and try the installation again.

Problem installing Visual Composer

Hi experts,
I downloaded Visual Composer from SAP Servise but I have not been able to install it on my laptop due to the following issues:
It is looking for a SQL client, and an IIS server.
Can you tell me what I might be doing incorrectly?

made up of the following: Web Server (IIS), Storage Layer (Microsoft SQL Server), Visual Composer Storyboard (the Visual Composer interface
that you use for portal content development)
Visual Composer Addons to SAP Enterprise Portal (connects Visual Composer to portal)
Visual Composer is internally using IIS Server as Webserver.So IIS Server is mandatory...
Meta Data informations regarding our applications which are developed using Visual Composer are stored in the DataBase. Thats why its is asking for SQL Clien.

Problems using Visual Composer with Web Dynpro runtime

I am currently trying to build a Visual Composer iView and we need to use the Web Dynpro runtime rather than Flash because it needs to work with a screen reader for users with sight problems. Which is a pity because Flash works fine. But when I use Web Dynpro runtime I'm getting the following problems:
a) When I define fields and pushbuttons in forms where Align Contents is set to Absolute, they do not appear at runtime in the positions in which I've placed them - all form elements are aligned vertically. The only other options are to align all fields vertically or align all fields horizontally. This lack of flexibility makes it rather difficult to create a good screen design; the only option seems to be to create a separate form for each set of differently aligned fields, which leads on to the next problem. .
b) When I define more than one form on a page, again at runtime the forms do not always appear in the positions in which I've placed them; the compiler seems to calculate how much space it needs to display the screen elements and then re-sizes and re-positions the forms accordingly, ignoring what I've told it to do.
c) Toolbar pushbuttons do not appear on forms (they do appear on tables). Irritating, but at least I can still create pushbuttons on the form itself.
There are other issues, but the main problems is that it appears that when I use VC with Web Dynpro I cannot trust the editor layout at all and the only way I can build something that looks decent is to fiddle about with field / form sizes and positions, checking every change on the output, until hopefully I get it looking ok. Having to do this will dramatically increase the time taken to develop VC applications. Has anyone else experienced these problems with VC and Web Dynpro? Has anyone managed to overcome them?

Thanks, but neither of these describes the problems I've been having. And they are misleading since they say that you can use VC with Web Dynpro only with Web Services ie not directly with BAPIs / RFCs, but using it with BAPIs / RFCs is one of the few things that works well in our system.
The most recent problem I've found is that if you make a form or table read-only it will stay read-only in Flash but the fields are editable in Web Dynpro. The individual field disable option does work for Web Dynpro, but it turns the fields from black to a vey pale and almost invisible grey (this doesn't happen in Flash). And you can't seem to change this.
It does seem to be a bit pathetic that input fields can't be made read only. I've tried expression boxes, which are read-only anyway, but they appear in as pale a grey as the disabled input fields. And although plain text fields can be added to tables, they are pretty useless since they can only hold a single value and so all the lines will contain the same value.
I guess I should resign myself to the fact that I am never going to be able to produce a decent screen using VC and Web Dynprp.

I am new to Visual Composer and installed Netweaver Composition Environment ...and want to start using the Visual Composer Tool to create Models...how can I do that....while installing NWCE i had 2 options for scenario as Java Application server and Composition Platform Installation...which is the option I should have selected to start VC...?

I installed the GUI Machine(story board) on my machine.when I start it i receive an error message : In create model dialog box : NO GUI MACHINE SERVER IS FOUND AT THE SPECIFIED ADDRESS.Please provide me the solution at the earliest.

Export window - Exports contents of entire window
Can you provide the actins configuration steps. As i created a Button in the table but i need to configure the Action for the same.

Deployment Problem in Visual Composer

Hi
I have a SAVE button in a VC screen which is appearing disabled in the deployment environment. The first time i deploy this VC screen for testing , i am able to see the deployment with SAVE button as disabled. 2nd time onwards if i try deploying the screen, it gives me 'Stop Running this Script' error popup and if I press YES in the popup compiling keeps on running and nothing happens , When NO is pressed the error popup reaapears .
Please find the snap shot attached for this error. Please reply if anybody can help resolve this error.

I can't seem to think of something as the cause. Would you open a ticket for this? It might be important for the team to understand the model first, you could use Model => Export to save it to the disk.

Problem to install Visual Composer.

I am having some problems to install this versions: NWVC60_0-20000504
About my landscape:
I am using two boxes machines: one of them where is installed MSSQL 2000 SP3, and the other one E.P 6.0 SP2 Patch 4 and IIS 5.0.
I read Installation Guide 1.2 during the step 3.4 Installing Visual Composer Storyboard: I run setup.exe the system asked me:
HOST NAME:
DEFAULT TCP/IP PORT:
AND DBNAME
After entering of this paremeters appear a message saying:
"Visual Composer Installation requires SQL200 SERVER indicate appropiate server"
This is MSQLServer 2000 and I have installed SP3 (I don't understand this message).
In order to proof this connection I have configured an ODBC connection and it worked fine. (I use the same database, user and password).
Could you tell me what I am doing wrong ?
Here, I have a doubt:
Must I manualy create this D.B or the system create it ?

Hi,
You don't have to manually create the database, it is done by the installer. But the installer stops on your case when testing the DB version. Try running the following SQL phrase used by the installer:
use master ;declare @dbversion varchar(150) ;select @dbversion = substring(@@version, 23,5);print '[Server version]'print @dbversion
It should result with the following:
[Server version]
2000
It also writes it into a temp file in a temp dir which might have failed for some reason (full administrative rights when installing?).

CE Trial Installation - Visual Composer problem

Hi,
I installed the NetWeaver Composition Environment Trial Edition from DVD and everything except the Visual Composer works fine. When I log on to the VC I get the following message:
"Failed to open workspace cue to the following error: Kits manifest is bad or missing
Details: Failed to invoke the function: 'actionKitsManifest' of the remote service: 'LibManager'"
What could be the problem?

Installed the Adobe SVG Viewer and MS XML Parser 4.0 and it's working now.

Hi all...i dont much about Visual Composer 7.0...As we are not have installed VC 7.0 in our comapny...Before starting work in VC 7.0 i have to install it first..So,i am searching about, how to install VC 7.0 on 2004s platform i.e for EP 7.0..

Hi,
There is no need of Special steps to install VC.
VC will come by default with EP Usage type.
if your Portal URL is : http://<domain:port>/irj then its corresponding VC will be http://<domain:port>/VC (Capital letters).
and if you are gettingpermissions problme then assaign the VC role to the user with which you had loged in to the portal i useradministration.

Problem changing ALL the colours for Visual Composer

Hi All,
To set the scene:
I have SP13 installed.
I have created a Visual Composer model, selected the option "Enabling styling of flex controls in portal themes", and deployed it.
Then gone into the Portal > System Admin > Portal Display > Theme Editor > Selected the correct theme > Visual Composer > Flex Runtime Controls
Then changed all the colours
The Problem:
I cannot change ALL the colours. There is this blue box that borders all the form headers which i cannot seem to change. I have provided a link to a screenshot below.

The field that I would assume fixes this ("Border Color of View Header") seems to have no effect?
Anyone also had this problem or know of a solution?
