Problem inserting DVD

I can't insert disc in my iMac. It seems like a disc is already inserted, but it's not

1. Go into Spotlight from the top of your iMac on the menu bar.
2. And search for "CDs & DVDs" (It's also in the System Preferences)
Click on it and a small CDs & DVDs window will pop up with options of what happens when you insert a disk into the drive
3. By then, try inserting a disk in (while that window is open. This kinda wakes up your drive to accept the disk). It should accept it.
4. If nothing happens, then manually open the program that should be opening when you insert the disk or go to Finder (Eg. if it's an audio disk, then open iTunes)
5. If opening the program still does not activate the drive to start spinning the disk, then close the programs and windows you opened, and repeat step 1-4 and the disk should be spinning and automatically opening the proper program.
Or go into Terminal app and type in: drutil ejec
The drutil ejec tip is credited to Dan8954

From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test.
If you use a FireWire audio interface, disconnect it and test again. If you don't know what a FireWire audio interface is, you don't have one.

Problem Inserting DVD Media Element

Hello everyone,
I am unbale to insert a DVD into Director MX 2004. This is
what I am doing....
1- I place a DVD into my DVD-Driver
2- Open the Director MX 2004
3- Create a New Director File
4- Insert ---> Media Element ---> DVD
Then I get an Error Message saying "An error occured while
trying to load DVD player".
Can anyone tell me what is going on, please?

Problems inserting cd's/dvd's into the drive?

Has any one else had problems inserting cd's/dvd's into the drive?
Mine hasn't worked for awhile. Any suggestions before i order a replacement?

Imac 24" dvd-drive doesnt show inserted DVDs randomly, only after reboot (?

i am very aware of this problem as my powerbook G4 had the same issue,
although its not a big issue i am worring about.
when i insert a DVD sometimes, lets say a commercial Movie DVD, an older burned DVD from 2002 or 2005 or even 2006, my brand new imac 24" doesnt recognize the inserted DVD randomly, not every day, but on some days........
when i start harddisctoolkit, it doesnt show the dvd, too.
the drive spins a bit, then stays calm.
i use to reboot then, and surprise, its always there!
what is it please?

Unable to Insert DVD in MACBOOK 2008

Till yesteray i was able to use DVD drive. Today when i tried to insert DVD, the same was not inserted completly. Approximately 4 cm of CD is visible. I have restarted and tried, the problem is still exist. However eject button is working.
Please help me to ways to resolve the issue.

Check whether the same there. If not a coin, perhaps another disk. what happens if you press the Eject disk key on your keyboard, I assume there is one on that generation.

Mac Pro does not recognize inserted DVDs after startup

When i reboot my mac pro and log in my user in the moment the mac pro starts the finder it tells me that the inserted DVDs could not be recognized. my mac then ask me what it should do: ignore or eject. this happens everytime i at the startup.
i have a second DVD drive installed. is it a problem that causes out of wrong jumper settings?
from time to time i have startup problems with my mac and some people told me it is a major problem and i should call the support. is this another sign that my mac has a problem?

I have that same combo working here. Other than the Sony not reading older 4X DVD "Sony" discs, and saying they are CDs, it operates perfectly. If both drives are set to cable select like hatter said, all should be well.

Yes, I've a g4/466 with two disks. In the first there's system 9.2.2 and the DVD player goes perfect. In the second I've system 10.2 and the 9.2, and the DVD Player (3.0.1) on the system 10 begins to jump in the dock, but stop and nothing happens, I can't open it...
There's any way to reinstal it form system disks???
Or any download to check the error?

1. Try using Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X 10.2 installation disks, and then run the combo updater for your version of Mac OS X and any applicable DVD Player updates.
2. Open the Console application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and look for lines relating to the DVD Player.

On windows 8 and itunes I have importing problems the DVD is only reading the music cd from 1.5x to 4.0x for 95% of the time, it does hit speeds of 30x for the other 5% of the time. Is it a driver issue with the DVD or is it a windows 8 issue?

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

I have also tried the Mac superdrive but my imac wont recognise it as it's been configured for macbook air and mini mac. I know I can "make" it work by doing something or other in com.apple/plist, but dont want to mess about in there.
I'm also told an external drive would work but does "mac compatible" mean only for air and mini as their own superdrive is or all macs?
Any help appreciated before I convince myself mac is no better than windows pc!

I can buy the drives at a dozen places but none of them seem to know what connection is correct (SATA etc) and that includes the apple store. It was the store who told me buy the superdrive and all my problems would be over. Wrong! It isn't recognised by imac as it's confifured for air and mini mac. Only way to make it work is as i said in earlier post. (Would you be happy buying a car you were told would start and then discover you have to open the bottome and fiddle to make it go?)
The apple store I would not even consider taking it to. Days without the pc, over priced and don't have a good reputation for actually fixing things!

problems inserting .swf files in dreamweaver 8.I can insert, when I
press f12 to see in Internet Explorer you see the movie, but when
you put mouse over the banner I design.This has a bad behavior, it
transform to hand, because the banner is a buttom, and again
transform in default mode and it doesn`t stay in buttom form.When I
did the flash, I saw the .sfw file in HTML, that generated the same
Flash, and it look good, and had a hood behavior, but when I insert
in dreamweaver 8 it doesn`t work correctly.I download the
Dreamweaver 8 Update 2. Now I have Dreamveaver 8.0.2 or something
like that.
I think that the problems is in the form that Dreamweaver

Problem inserting flash from flash 8

I am using flash 8 and dreamweaver 8. When I place a flash
header into my web page there is a space created between the header
and the lower content on the page. My publish setting in flash are
set at default. Thanks for any help.

This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.
That would my guess too. Here are few other things to consider:
1) Does your FLV filename contain any spaces or special characters? If so, rename it without spaces as these can cause problems.
2) Output Screen Mimic project to a QuickTime MOV file. Then use Adobe Flash Encoder to convert the MOV to FLV.
3) When you tested your page, was it a live page on remote server? Did you upload the page and all supporting files to server (Scripts folder, SWF, FLV...)?
