Problem install:  Sun studio5

I don't succeed to install Sun One Studio 5 evaluation.
the error message is:
"A suitable JVM could not be found. You need to use J2SE version 1.4.1_02 or above. If you have a suitable J2SE version installed, invoke the installer from the command line using the option -is:javahome java-home-directory."
I am sure that I have installed JVM and J2SE but I don't anderstand the problem with "javahome".
have you got an idea?
Thanks!!

Hi ,
The problem could be that the J2SE is not in your path. You need to set the path environment variable to include the J2SE. If you already have done that, it could be a problem described in the following knowledgebase item.

Hope this helps.

  • Problem installing SUN java 1.6.0_13

    Hi,
I have some computers that fails with installing SUN java 1.6.0_13 and I do not understand why:
    - I have run "msiexec.exe /qn /x {26A24AE4-039D-4CA4-87B4-2F83216011FF}" and "msiexec.exe /qn /x {26A24AE4-039D-4CA4-87B4-2F83216010FF}" (to uninstall the 1.6.0_11 and 1.6.0_12 versions).
    - I have killed the services "jqs.exe" and "jusched.exe".
    - I have deleted the following in the registry :

Can you help me figuering out what I am doing wrong?
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
I found the "solution" to this problem on Microsoft's homepage: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187
I discovered that if I removed the registry-keys from the old version(s) of java, then I could install the new version of Java.
I removed the the registry keys below (containg sourcefile references to the java source files on the locel computer) from the computers that had the problem, and afterwards I was able to install new version of Java.
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120611FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\26A24AE4039D4CA487B42F83216010FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120621FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120601FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D510008]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D511001]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D610003]
What I do not understand is that the Java uninstaller did not clean this up by itself and why the java 1.6.0_13 not just overwrite these keys...
    I am closing this case.

  • Problem installing Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1, Community Edition

I recently downloaded the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1, Community Edition and tried to install it. At one point it searches for a valid JAVA 2 SDK. This seems to go on forever. I quit after 5 hours of waiting. I already have Java 2 standard edition v1.4.1 installed. Can someone please help?

    Well thanks Chuck!
With a bit of messing around and a LOT of patience I finally installed Sun ONE Studio update 1 on my laptop pc, running Windows ME.
The trick was (I think) to apply both of the above fixes, but also a couple of things that was not quite as evident.
1 - Do NOT install the SDK in "C:\Program Files\" or any directory path that contains spaces in the name! Apparently that causes problems, and is noted in one of the Knowledge Base articles.
2- When making the file noted in the Knowledge Base:
    ( http://forte.sun.com/cgi-bin/WebX?[email protected]@.ee815f4 )
    - It says: Contents of this new file should be:.
    jh=<jdk Home Path> (for example, jh=c:\j2sdk1.4.0_01)
Well it does NOT mention that there should be 2 lines in that file!
Make sure you include a carriage return and a second "blank" line!
OK, that's it. GO ahead & loose yourself in the IDE.
I hope this does not cause undue traffic in the forums but what the heck...

  • Problem installing Sun Java Web Server

    Hi
I'm trying to install Sun Identity Server which need Sun Java Web Server...
I try to install identity server and web server using Sun Java Enterprise System Install Wizard...
When I came to page Identity Server:Sun Java System Web Server (3 of 6 ) and I entered Hostname, dir1.usmnet, I get an error pop-up window stating Host Name is not valid......but if I typed dir1.domain.com the error message didn' t appear.....
I'm using Solaris 9 on Intel platform. I have setup my network and able to ping to other valid hostname in my LAN....
FYI my network information are as follows
    /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    <my ip > dir dir.usmnet loghost
    /etc/hostname.elxl0
    dir1
    /etc/resolv.conf
    domain usmnet
    nameserver <dns server ip>
    search usmnet
    I have also setup /etc/netmasks and /etc/defaultrouter
When I type the domainname command, nothing appeared
What when wrong, I could ping to my dns server and to other computer in this LAN, could anybody give a suggestion ?

OK, found the solution by myself.
The Administrator's Guide mentiones the possibility to install a certificate with the wadm CLI, so I tried that:
    wadm> install-cert -v --config=www -y server -n Server-Cert /www.crt
    Please enter token-pin>
ADMIN4086: The Certificate could not be installedThe CLI Reference Manual says for the command install-cert, option --replace*:
"Note – --replace option of install-cert CLI is deprecated
and currently using this option may not work as expected.
For replacing a CA-signed certificate, users should delete the
cert using delete-cert CLI and then install the new one
    using install-cert CLI."
    wadm> install-cert -v --config=www -y server -n Server-Cert --replace /www.crt
    Please enter token-pin>
ADMIN4112: No Private key foundOK, so maybe if I had installed the first certificate (before generating the new CSR) that would have worked, I don't know.
Deleting the old cert doesn't work at once:
    wadm> delete-cert -v --config=www Server-Cert
    Please enter token-pin>
ADMIN4139: Certificate Server-Cert is being referred to by listeners: http-listener-2So before deleting you have to remove the certificate from the listener. Then:
    wadm> delete-cert -v --config=www Server-Cert
    Please enter token-pin>
    CLI201 Command 'delete-cert' ran successfully
    wadm> install-cert -v --config=www -y server -n Server-Cert /www.crt
    Please enter token-pin>
CLI201 Command 'install-cert' ran successfullyAfter re-adding the certificate to the ssl listener and deploying all the changes to the servers
    everything is fine.

    Can anyone please help
The version is Java Sun App Server 8.2 version!
Should i delete the file productregistry in the windows32 folder?

I resolved the problem, the main reason was their was appserv-rt.jar file in the Java lib folder, once this was taken out, it worked perfectly.

  • Problem installing Sun One DS 5.2

I'm having a little trouble installing the iPlanet Directory Server 5.2 on Solaris 9. I get the error:
error: initialization failure:Unable to initialize the NSS subcomponent.
Configuration of the Directory Server failed.
    Error Directory Server configuration failure
Checking connection to the Configuration Directory Server... failed.
The Admininistration Server cannot be configured.
    Error Administration Server configuration failure
Error Configuration of the server(s) failed.
Unfortunately, I cannot the reason of this error and I can't find anthing about that in the Sun documentations.
Has anyone gotten this to work successfully? Thanks in advance!

    Did the packages install correctly?
If yes, run the following command to configure a DS instance:
    /usr/ds/v5.2/sbin/directoryserver configure -debugMessage | tee config.out
This will turn on lots of debug info and send it to a file called config.out. This should help you determine your problem.

  • Problem installing Sun JES 5u1 on OpenSolaris (snv_b77 x86)

We have a new X4600 server dedicated to tests of the latest Sun-related software stack we could get our hands on to build a demo-installation of "the newest" for a customer, so we installed it with OpenSolaris (snv_b77 was the most recent back then).
After doing the needed tests, we decided to see how the Sun JES behaves with a recent Solaris. We have many Sun JES projects (dating back from Portal 6.0 and JES 2003Q4, JES 4 and 5/5u1); and since Solaris 10u2 (6/06) we host them in zones of a "minimalistically" configured server (approx 270 packages).
When I tried to repeat a similar approach with OpenSolaris (snv_b77) and Sun JES 5u1, the Orion(?) installer behaved differently than on Solaris 10u3 or 10u4. In particular, there are less choice options in Directory Server (i.e. no Directory Proxy Server at all), and a dozen lines in High Availability services (HA for this and HA for that, albeit "Unsupported in zones").
The bigger problem is that the installer doesn't succeed in installing some packages (Cacao, mfwk, jdmk) and configuring the products. I could manually register some of the CACAO components and get a working pair of Directory Server and DPS, now I'm fighting with the Application Server.
What's sad, I don't have to do these tricks with any recent Solaris 10 server we've had set up.
The root of the problem seems to be that the system identifies as "SunOS 5.11" and the installer doesn't seem to support that (installation goes on with a stacktrace that classes for 5_11 could not be found). Example:
    PSPERR:++++++++++++++++++++++++++ {Missing Resource Exception in the loading of the PkgRelativePaths{Can't find bundle for base name com.sun.entsys.installer.common.resources.PkgRelativePaths5_11, locale en}}
I made a wrapper script for /sbin/uname which replaces "5.11" with "5.10" and linked "Solaris_11" to "Solaris_10" directories in the unpacked distribution, but these steps did not help.
Does anybody know of tricks required to fool the installer to work in "Solaris_10" mode regardless of the system? Changing programs to wrappers, or replacing /etc/release and similar files are okay - the setup is in a zone dedicated to one task.
Or is there a newer Sun JES beta release which does not need such fooling? :)

I had the same problem this evening on b81, and have had the problem in the past but didn't care long enough to look at it. I do care tonight because I need to use B81 with Crossbow, so as I have VNIC support.
I've spent some time figuring it out (thanks to truss + find) and I've found a way that sorts the issue. You need not rename directories (in fact, this will break it in my experience).
NOTE: Seeing as you've mucked around with directories and so on, unzip a fresh copy of JES.
NOTE: Sun probably don't want you to do this and it is unsupported, do so at your own peril.
Run the installer (I've used text mode):
Unable to access a usable display on the remote system. Continue in command-line mode?(Y/N)
    Y
Once you say "Y", I've found it goes off creates a directory called /tmp/.entsys_CaChE
Inside this directory you will find the following seemingly relevant files:
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_SPARC_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_SPARC_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_10.properties
In another terminal window, copy the relevant files for your platform to the same file but with 5_11 instead of 5_10
    cd /tmp/.entsys_CaChE
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_11.xml
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_11.xml
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_10.properties ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_11.properties
Then continue the installer as normal.
Then you should get to here:
    1. Install
    2. Start Over
    3. Exit Installation
What would you like to do [1] {"<" goes back, "!" exits}?
And if you continue now things are happy:
    Java Enterprise System 5
    |-1%--------------25%-----------------50%-----------------75%--------------100%|
    Installation Complete
Software installation has completed successfully. You can view the installation
summary and log by using the choices below. Summary and log files are available
    in /var/sadm/install/logs/.
    All good!

Hope, you are considering Sun Web Server 6.1 (formerly known as iPlanet Enterprise Server ) for this task. Yes, it is possible to host multiple instances of web server on a same machine.

  • Problem installing Sun Role Manager 5.0.3

    Hi All,
I've set up Sun Role Manager 5.0.3 (The Oracle Identity Analytics branded version)
I'm using Tomcat 5.5 and Oracle database 11.1.0.6
The issue occurs during start up. I get a bunch of errors which I'll list below. It looks like a database connectivity problem but I am not exactly sure. I'm pretty sure my jdbc.properties file is correct, except maybe the password.
Can anyone help work out what exactly is wrong here?
    Cheers,

  • Problems installing Sun Directory Server

I downloaded the package install of the Directory Server Enterprise
Edition 6.3. Made it through the install ok without too much trouble.
When I run the command dsccsetup initialize, I get the following error:
ld.so.1 dsadm failed: libnss3.so: version NSS_3.12 not found required by file /usr/lib/mps/libssl3.so.  open failed: no such file of directory.
I found the file in /usr/lib/mps and then set my LD_LIBRARY_PATH to this folder but still get the error.
Any ideas? Also I have tested the version 6 in the past and did not like the web part of it. Is there a place to download DS 5.2 for Solaris X86 still? I cannot find one anywhere? So if I am stuck with 6.x then I need to get it working as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

  • Problem installing DS 5.2 on AIX 5.3

We are having problem installing Sun One Directory Server 5.2 on the AIX 5.3 box.
I have unpacked the tarball on /tmp/apps/ldap and ran idsktune without any error. But then i whenever I try to run ./setup is comes out with java class not found error like this -
"The java class is not found: SunONEDirectoryServer52-zip"
However, when I have copied all the files/folders from ./setup_data and copied in /tmp/apps/ldap directory and ran setup, the installation starts b ut fails while configuring the directory server and the administration server.
    serverConfigure [Ljava.lang.String;@49ef970" returned status : 80
Configuration of the Directory Server failed.
    Error Directory Server configuration  failure
Checking connection to the Configuration Directory Server... failed.
The Admininistration Server cannot be configured.
    Error Administration Server configuration  failure
    Any help is appreciated.
I have gone through other topics and read that DS 5. is not supported on AIX 5.3. Does than mean we should stop trying to install DS 5.2 on AIX 5.3 and try other LDAP solutions?

Eventhough, Docs says that AIX5.2 is last supported version for DS5.2, AIX 5.3 also works fine without any problems. We have the same setup .
Are you installing as a root...because if your using port 389..you require root access for the installation.
