Problem installing 10.6.3 update

I am running 10.6.2 on my Mac Pro 2.93Ghz quad.
I made several attempts to install the update OS X 10.6.3.
The computer goes through the download process, but when it restarts to complete the installation, during the installation the following error message comes up:
"An error occurred during installation. None of the selected updates could be installed.
An unexpected error occurred."
"Restart"
"The update "Mac OSX Update" can't be installed. an unexpected error occurred."
Any help or suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Kisuke3,
I tried your suggestions but with no success.
I went through the first three steps and when that did not work I tried the manual download.
Close to the end of installation of the manual download I received the following error message:
"There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again."
"The installation failed."
"The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.
Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Thanks for your effort anyway. I do appreciate it. If you have any other ideas I'd certainly give it a go.

I don't know what to tell you. I get the same crap. I have been into computers for about 25 years now and it really ticks me off that after all these years these companys can not put out something that works. It seems like they put it out then expect the buyer to fix there screw ups. Why should we have to do there jobs and have to pay for it too?

  • Problem installing Mac OS X Update 10.7.4

I have tried several times to install the Mac OSX Update Version 10.7.4.
Each time the comptuer will not restart and I have to use the Time Machine backup (prior to the update download) to fix it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

    Hello:
A question.....how long did you wait for the computer to restart?
In any event, I think I would download the update again and then apply it.

  • Problem installing service pack 3 update

I have windows XP up and running on a seperate drive in my Mac Pro. I am now trying to update Windows by installing service pack 3 update via the Windows Update option in the control panel.
I get an error everytime saying there is not enough disk space. My hard drive have 109GB of free space so I don't know what the problem is.
    Any ideas?

Here is a solution for you that should work:
Boot into Windows XP and get to the desktop.
    Click on the START Button
    Click on RUN
Type Regedit in the windows and click on OK
    *Navigate to*
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Setup
In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
Try installing SP3 now and it should work.

  • Problem installing 7.6.1 update

I am receiving an error message near the end of the install of this update the says itunes.msi path cannot be located. I have downloaded many updates previously without this problem. I did notice recently that my desktop shortcut to ITunes no longer worked and I had to create a new one.
I cannot locate any ITunes.msi file on my computer. Any thoughts or solutions?
    Thanks

I also receive an error near the end of the installation. It is not specified however what has gone wrong. It suggests me to just download the new version and then install manually, but I don't find the option to just download ANYWHERE. Each time there is a new version lately I run in to some kind of problem. Worst of all when it does not keep "my" default settings (not C: where music is stored, and then I may end up having to recreate a libabry and sync all over (and with 80GB iPod this takes some time)!!!

  • Problems installing RAW 6.6 update

When attempting to download/install the RAW 6.6 update I get the message "Please close the following applications to continue: Adobe Bridge CS5 (Bridge.exe)". The problem is, Bridge is not open! What's causing this, and how can it be corrected?

Bridge may be loading when the system reboots and there could be a little orange (Br) in the system notification area.
If you can’t figure anything else out, then start up Task Manager (right-click on TaskBar and choose Task Manager) and do an EndTask for Bridge.exe in the Processes list.

  • Problems installing 9.2.3 update

Have tried to install from safe mode to no avail, still getting alert that 'current' version of iPhoto installed on this mac must be updated through mac App store?  Any simple fix out there?  Thanks.

Where did this version of iPhoto come from?
If it was pre-installed on a recent machine (one that arrived with Lion installed) then you update via the App Store.

  • Problem installing Mac OS X Update on PowerBook G4

I'm trying to install the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.5.5 on my PowerBook G4 but it can't open the installer package. It keeps saying the Bill of Materials was not found. Are there any answers to this please?
    Thanks,
    Colin

The System Requirements on the update page I already mentioned
    (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1055comboupdate.html) clearly state that
*Mac OS X 10.5.1 - Mac OS X 10.5.4* is required for this update.
Is it not obvious that 10.3.9 does not meet this requirement?
You must buy Leopard (an OS upgrade ) before you can update it.

  • Problem Installing ACR 5.7 Update

I have all programs closed when I try to install the Camera Raw 5.7 Update so I can edit photos in Photoshop CS4 from Lightroom 2.7.  Every time I try to install, an "Installation Incomplete" window pops up saying "Please close the following application and retry to continue installing update: ADOBE BRIDGE."  I have cleared the cache in Bridge, but I can't get this to install.

You probably have Bridge set to start up automatically at login.  Check the Advanced section of Bridge Preferences.

  • Problems installing 8.0.2 update (unable to locate the product)

Hello, I'm trying to install the patch 8.0.2 for AAE CS3 on WinXP(32bit) SP3, but I'm getting a message "The updater is unable to locate the product to be updated.". Can I do something with that?

Yepp, as Jonas said, give them a call. On a guess I would assume that you installed to a non-standard path or another Adobe product has messed up the pertinent install info, but you never know, so it's best to contact phone support and explain the situation and steps taken so far.

  • Frustration Installing CS 3.01 Updater for .inx use

Hi, I don't get it. I have InDesign CS and I just updated InDesign to 3.01 but the installer seems to present me with a "installation complete" window before the installation is complete.
When I click on the .inx file (InDesign Interchange File) I get an error, which is the error that the update was not installed, but I tried to install it twice now. This seems like a never ending circle of frustration!!
I also went into my "Applications" folder and selected InDesign and it says my InDesign is version 3.01 so why can't I open an Indesign .inx file exported from InDesign CS3?
Has anyone had problems installing the 3.01 updater? What to do?
    Thanks

    Lorne,
Hold down the Command key and choose About InDesign. The version number and update number are presented there. Perhaps you already have the 3.0.1 latest update -- I forget the build number, was it 838? My disk holding the only installed 3.0.1 I still had just recently died so I can't check any more.

  • 10.6.8 update combined - problems installing

    Hi all,
Currently having huge problems installing this update on my mac, have been trying for a couple of days now to get this machine back up and running again after I was told by the genius bar 2 years ago that after them spending nearly 900 pounds on new parts, that they "had no idea what the problem was, but could be something to do with the logic board". I finally decided to sell it, but as a parts and repair it will get £100 and fully working it could get a bit more, so it's in my interest to get it up and running again.
I am by no means a computer expert, but I know a few things and can normally sort problems out by just simply using search, but alas I have finally been beaten, and have come here to ask for some assistance.
After re-installing my macbook pro 3,1 (mid 2007) with it's original 10.4 tiger software probably 5 times before it worked, then moving on to 10.6 snow leopard which also took a couple of attempts, I am now completely stuck with no way to get this machine up to 10.6.8, so that I can make the jump to mountain lion. The software update program is either an absolute heap of dung, or my computer just won't have any of it. I have tried multiple solutions which I will list below:
Using software update to install the 10.6.8 combined update - Failed
Downloading the 10.6.8 combined update from apple support downloads - Failed
Deleting the library/preferencecom.apple.softwareupdate etc. files - Still software update Failed
Downloading 10.6.1 update and installing - Success after a few attempts
Downloading 10.6.8 combined and trying again - Failed
Downloading 10.6.2 update and installing - Failed
Now this is where I am at. I have downloaded these files both on the macbook pro itself, and on my windows laptop - then transfering them across. I have never been more frustrated at a computer in my entire life, and am about 20 minutes away from throwing this laptop out of the window onto a poor bystander below. If anyone has any solution - (and don't say reformat and reinstall the OS - I've already tried that), then it would be greatly appreciated!
I'll post the console message from my last install of just the 10.6.8 combined upate (without using software update) and if someone on here who can make sense of these messages can see a problem or offer a solution, then that would also be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There really shouldn't be any problem downloading that combo update unless you've got a very slow or flaky connection. And Windows doesn't play as well with Mac files as the Mac does with Windows files; who knows what Windows might have done to the update's file integrity.
You might also try downloading the file using another browser such as Firefox. And when you have the updater, reboot into Safe Mode and then run the updater. That way you can be sure there isn't third party software somehow interfering with the update while it's tinkering with the guts of OS X.
