Problem installing Patch to upgrade to Sun One 6.1SP7
Hi,
About a year ago, we installed Sun One 6.1 SP6. When the application was installed, it was installed to a the non-default location. Instead of /opt/SUNWwbsrv directory, we chose to install it to /app/netscape61.
Now that SP7 is available, I'm having problems installing the patch.
When I use patchadd, it says it cannot find SUNWwbsrv installation so it quits.
I've tried "patchadd -M /tmp/116648-19 -R /app/netscape61"
Where /tmp/116648-19 is the source patch directory and /app/netscape61 is where I installed netscape61SP6.
Can someone tell me the correct syntax to use?
Thanks,
BruceHi Bruce,
Did you install 6.1 SP6 using the packages or using the point product(non package based)? If you had installed 6.1 SP6 as a point product, then patchadd is not the way to upgrade. You can check by running the pkginfo command as follows:
# pkginfo SUNWwbsvr
If the above command fails with "not found" then you probably have the point product(non package based install) of WS installed. In that case, you can upgrade using the SP7 bits from here:
http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=45c90ca9
Hope it helps.
Thanks

Problem install Recommended Patch cluster
Trying to install the Recommended patch cluster on Ultra 45s, on each one, the 40th patch, 120272-28, fails, and I don't understand why. Here's the snippet from the log:

The following requested patches will not be installed because
they are incompatible with patches already installed or with
other patches that you have specified for installation. In order to install these
requested patches you should resolve this incompatibility
by removing incompatible patches from requested-to-install set
or from the system.
0 Patch 120272-28 is declared as incompatible by IDR138540-01, which has already been installed on the system.
No patches to install.
patchadd exit code : 3
application of 120272-28 failed : unhandled subprocess exit status '3' (exit n branch)
finish time : 2010.11.30 08:41:42
FINISHED : application of 120272-28
I don't understand why it fails, rather than just being "skipped", as several other patches are. I assume the failure isn't coming from the fact that it's been declared incompatible, but rather the "unhandled subprocess exit status". How do I determine what that is?
Or, better yet, how do I tell the installcluster script to just not do that one?
Thanks!did you try and removed the IDR? I.e: patchrm IDR138540-01 ?

Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on an ASUS netbook with 2mb ram. I installed both Air 3.7 and BBC iPlayer Desktop using Google Chrome. I downloaded 3 BBC programmes. Two ran fine but the third wouldn't start and I kept getting a message to try again later. I deleted this programme and downloaded it again, with the same result.
So I uninstalled both Air and the BBC iPlayer Desktop, the Air exe file and the two folders at the following locations:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ and
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.xxx
Since doing this each time I try to install Air either on its own or with the BBC iPlayer software I get the message part way through installation:
"Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have run the Microsoft Fix it programme and still get the same result.
I have tried everything on your Trouble Shooting page apart from the bit about the elevated command prompt, but as I'm the sole user and administrator, that seems unnecessary.
I have closed Chrome and tried installation using Windows Explorer but with the same result.
I have tried all the above with Microsoft Security Essentials running and disabled. And I have tried the same with Astrill on and off.
I have had a response from the BBC with much the same advice as appears on your trouble shooting page.
Here is the Air installation log, followed by the MSI log.

Hi to all.
Currently, i am trying to install patches for portal server.
The server OS is Sun Solaris 8.
We are using Oracle9iAS.
Now, we are installing 9.0.1.4.0 patch set for the Oracle Database Server.
We managed to install the patch, but have problem with the Post Install Action.
We managed to run
-ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-@rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
-ALTER SYSTEM DISABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;
-CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
-update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
-commit;
But, when we come to the next command, which is to shutdown, it gives us like
this..
SQL> update obj$ set status=5 where type#=29 and owner#!=0;
1402 rows updated.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
SQL> shutdown immediate
Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
We tried to startup the database..it gives us this error..
SQL> startup
ORA-01081: cannot start already-running ORACLE - shut it down first
So, we tried to shutdown again..
SQL> shutdown immediate
ORA-01089: immediate shutdown in progress - no operations are permitted
I been informed that this is maybe a Database problem related. Any ideas?
Best Wishes,

Problem installing ActiveX viewer in Windows 7
Hello,
We downloaded the public beta of Windows 7 today and I am getting an error in our web application when it tries to install the Crystal Reports XI ActiveX report viewer (version 11.0.0.1424 of crviewer.dll). IE8 will issue its normal prompt to ask you if you want to install the control, but after that, the little object image in the upper-left corner of the page turns to a red X.
I tried using the sample code which comes with Crystal XI (SimplePreviewReport.asp in the "BeginHere" folder) and that had the same problem. I put some debug code into SmartViewerActiveX.asp and found that I was getting an "ActiveX component can't create object" error on this line:
Set webBroker = CreateObject("CrystalReports11.WebReportBroker.1")
I don't think it's a security issue because I am an administrator on the machine and I didn't have any problems installing other ActiveX controls. I tried running the web site in both the Local Intranet zone as well as the Trusted Sites zone. I'm also thinking that the issue is more with Windows 7 than IE8 because I have IE8 Beta 2 installed on a Windows XP machine and the Crystal ActiveX viewer installs just fine there.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!XI R2 is more then an incremental update in some aspects to XI R1. They are officially versioned 11 and 11.5 and XI R2 is considered a new release. However in most aspects to a Crystal R1 customer XI R2 doesn't offer much more in functionality other than it is more up-to-date and is still receiving updates and patches.
With out looking at Operating Systems or other factors I generally recommend R1 customers move to R2 so they are kept up-to-date. However being an new version that does mean you will need to update your projects to call the R2 runtime, and then you can use the R2 merge modules.
As for how R2 merge modules work with Windows 7 I cannot say. We will have to wait until Windows 7 final build comes out before we will get a list of supported products on this Operating System, and this can take upwards of 3 months after the OS is released. I would hazard a guess (NOTE: GUESS is the important word here) that R1 and R2 will not be certified with Windows 7. This does not mean it will not work, but does mean it will not be tested and if errors are found that are particular to this OS they will not be fixed.
Remember that this is just a guess, based on R2 being 3 years old and nearing end of its patch cycle and Windows 7 being at least 4 months away. However this cannot be concidered an official statement it is just my personal opinion. Enough caveats there?

I'm having problems installing Adobe AIR. The installer launches two processes but nothing happens after that. I'm using a windows 7 pc.

Any help would be appreciated. If i double-click on the Adobe Air download, it's opening up to reveal the Adobe Air. When I open it, after prompting me if i want to open the downloaded program and when I click on the open button, it's saying "This application needs requires a version of Adobe Air which cannot be found." i also tried dragging the icon into the aplications folder. it's not working as yet.

[Solved] Problems installing broadcom-wl
So, I've been using Arch for about a week now (first time user), and I'm having problems installing my wifi driver.
My network controller is Broadcom BCM43142. I know that there are many issues with Broadcom chipsets, but this one worked on Ubuntu before, with the Broadcom STA driver.
Since I worked there, I installed the driver from here (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/broadcom-wl/), extracted the tarball, cd'd into the folder, did makepkg and everything seemed to install perfectly. Here's the output:
[swaraj@swaraj broadcom-wl]$ makepkg

[swaraj@swaraj broadcom-wl]$ sudo pacman -U broadcom-wl

Any idea what could be causing this?
Edit: I tried the same thing with b43-firmware (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/b43-firmware/), and I get the same output when trying to pacman -U. Is there something wrong with my system?

Upgrade or add package(s) to the system and install the required dependencies from
sync repos. Either a URL or file path can be specified. This is a “remove-then-add”

Problem installing drivers for on-board Realtek sound
Using Neo2
I keep getting the following error when Windows XP tries to install the driver:
"Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
Realtek AC'97 Audio
An error occurred during the installation of this device
The data is invalid"
I've tried all the usual stuff of ensuring that the software is installed prior to the PnP wizard. I've even tried installing the NT4 (non-PnP) drivers (which installed ok and appeared to work, except that the sound device wasn't recognised).
I've tried the latest patch to no avail. Is my H/W knackered?
Any input gratefully received.
Cheers,
/DAhem,
I thought what I had specified was relevant to the query, but here goes:
-Motherboard type and model - MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (939)
-Bios type and revision (AMI rev 1.9) - Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Version : Nvidia - 42302e31
-CPU type and model - AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ (939)
-Memory name, model and quantity - not sure but 3200, 2x512Mb Generic. Seems stable
-Video card name and model plus drivers and version - Hercules 3D Prophet 9600/9600Pro Series (SE) Driver Version : 5.2.3790.2
-Power Supply name, model and the amp rating for the +3.3V, +5V and +12V lines plus any limitation on the +3.3/+5V combined watts. This information can be found on a sticker on the side of the supply. - sorry but I haven't got the time to open the case up. It's a decent 400W jobbie. I've previously checked the various voltages and they seem OK.
-Hard Drives: Manufacturer, type and size and which IDE or SATA ports they are located on WDC WD800JB-00ETA0 (Sata 6) MAXTOR 6L040J2 IDE 1 (master)
-Optical Drives: Manufacturer and type and which IDE ports they are located on CDROMLITE-ON_LTR-48125S______________________1S05____\5&1DE79660&0&0.0.0 on 2nd Ide master
-Operating system and service pack level - WinXP SP1 and hotfixes. -
Problems installing Windows8.1 on High Performance MBPr late 2013 running Mavericks.
Hi, im currently new to MacOSX ( i made the jump from PCs) and although i think the overall experience on MacOSX is perfect i still need to run Windows natively on my mac ( i dont trust virtualisation programs.) and then i started to investigate how to setup bootcamp to "load" Windows 8.1 but im having some troubles with the process ..
1- when i open bootcamp it ask me where is the ISO. file (where the OS is), so i select my Windows 8.1 installation that my brother gave me and he told me that the ISO. have both forms of installations ( the 32 and 64bits) so when i load it on bootcamp it doesnt recognise the existence of the 64bit installation..
right now thats the only problem ( so far ) that im having with this, if somebody can give me some tutorial to install windows 8.1 will be really appreciated.
regards.
DanAtaDIm downloading windows from this link http://www.123myit.com/downloads/ the 64 bit one, ( idc if its made to be downloaded with intentions of piracy since i have my license key) so illl try running boot camp with that and lets see if that works.
I also have been reading about some problems on the MBPr late 2013 when they try to install windows 8.1 in EFI mode, but they "solve" the problem instaling it on the emulated bios, since its much faster to install it in the efi mode ( better speeds at waking up from sleep, better startup times, etc.) are there any workarounds to this problem or the problem has been solved with a patch from Apple?
thanks. -
Problems installing Windows 7 on new iMac?
I've heard from users on other forums that there are some problems installing Windows 7 on the new iMacs, mainly that the display goes blank partway through installation due to some kind of driver issue. Can anyone confirm this or elaborate? I've heard there is a workaround but it sounds a bit complicated and I'm wondering if I should just wait until Apple patches Boot Camp with full Win7 support.
I would wait until Apple updates Boot Camp to officially support Windows 7.

Hi guys, I'm new in OPA Technology and I need help because I can't find anything about my problem on Metalink.

Oracle AERS Database Install 4.5.2.0.0 (hangs 100% running wrapper.sql script**)
Details about the Warning and the error:
* AERS TMS Dictionary Load 4.5.2.0
The AERS Installer finish suscesfully but at the end of the log file bna_2152007_124012.log we can see the message:
SQL string for column : "ltrim (:source_code)"
SQL*Loader-500: Unable to open file (C:\OPA\opapps45\Dictionary\WHODrug_3Q2001\bna.dd)
SQL*Loader-553: file not found
SQL*Loader-509: System error: The system couldn’t find the specified file.
We don’t have WHODrug Dictionary and the Dictionay directory is empty. As we don’t want it I have tried to ignore it can continue with the installation.
** AERS Installer hangs 100% running wrapper.sql script during AERS Database Install
Running process
C:\OPA\aersora\iAS\bin\sqlplus.exe AERS/aers12 @wrapper.sql .. aersschema.sql aers aers12 aers12 AERS X portal30 aers portal30_sso aers MISC ctxsys MEDDRA WHODRUG
I took a look to the Installer log file and I could see at the end of the file:
[@../schema/is/ppf/AERSGlobals_s.sql]
[tms_interface_replace.sql]
SP2-0137: DEFINE requires a value following equal sign
where def_dictionary_id = and *

where def_dictionary_id = and *
ERROR at line 3:
ORA-00936: missing expression
Enter value for l_tms_ae_level_vt: (Here hangs because it’s waiting for a value)
Also we can see in aerschema.sql the call to the script
/* Core dictionary api views */
prompt [tms_interface_replace.sql]
@&MISC/tms_interface_replace.sql &AEDICTSHORTNAME &DRUGDICTSHORTNAME
After that I open to the file tms_interface_replace.sql in C:\OPA\opapps45\aers\database\schema\is\misc directory where we can see the following select
column TMS_AE_LEVEL_VT new_value L_TMS_AE_LEVEL_VT
select def_level_id TMS_AE_LEVEL_VT
from tms_def_levels
where def_dictionary_id = &L_TMS_AE_DICT_ID and
short_name = 'VT';
If I run the following select in my AERS database I get
select def_level_id TMS_AE_LEVEL_VT
from tms_def_levels
TMS_AE_LEVEL_VT
0
I have ran the query:
select *
from tms_def_levels
And we get only one record.
I’m not completely sure but I suspect we need to install the dictionaries but I thought it’s not needed. I’m investigating in Metalink but I don’t find any key to follow.
Thanks you very much
Regards.Hello Bvek,
"OS Version = 6.1.7600, SP = 0.0, Platform 2” means you are Windows 7 but not Service Pack 1.
The .Net Framework 4.5.1 need windows 7 Service Pack 1 supported. You could update your OS to Service Pack 1, then reinstall .Net Framework 4.5.1.
