Problem installing Acrobat 10

How can I make the "My Computer" folder stop opening every time I boot my computer?  I know this problem is directly related to installation of Adobe Acrobat 10, which I downloaded this morning.  My brand-new laptop computer worked perfectly until that installation, but now that folder opens on the desktop at startup.
I have already disabled all of the startup programs, and it still happens.  Suggestions?

Lenovo Y580 here.  ANY Adobe non-free product appears to give me this issue!
It can be anything within the CS5 or CS6 Suites, and even Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro by itself.  Adobe Reader and Flash are OK.
I've about pulled my hair out trying to figure this one...and I just joined the forum to share my experience (that is, hours and hours of wasted time).
I've installed the products above on nearly 100 computers now...WITHOUT SEEING THIS ISSUE.  Dell, HP, Sony, ASUS...all the majors...and about 30 PC's that I custom built with Intel i7 Quads and Asus motherboards.
It's not so much Adobe....it's more Lenovo.  There's something they've added to the basic Windows 7 platform that is causing this.
Candidates include:
OneKey Recovery
OneKey Theater
Lenovo Energy Management
Lenovo Battery Management
Additional candidates could include specific versions of addons from third-party vendors;
Cyberlink
Bluetooth Software
Vmicro (webcam)
Syngesture BS
Realtek
etc.
At first I thought it was related to one of the AutoDesk products, either AutoCAD or Revit.  But nope...it's only when one of the Adobe products above is installed.
NOW...this laptop is SO SCREWED UP from heavy uninstalling and System Restores...that I'm going to have to reformat the drive and start all over...but hold off on these Adobe products until an answer is found.

  • Problems installing Acrobat X as part of CS6 upgrade

After upgrading to CS6 from CS5, my Acrobat Pro 9 stopped working - it would say that there is an error and shut down, each time I tried to open it.  I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Acrobat 9 and the CS6 upgrade.  Latest reinstallation of the CS6, installed everything except Acrobat X, which comes with the package...
    Any ideas?

Still not working.  I continue to get the error message that “Certain elements of or these products are not able to be installed” (translated from French).  In the following error log, it says (amongst other things) :
ERROR: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Erreur irrécupérable lors de l’installation.
MSI Error message: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.
ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
When I was uninstalling previous versions of Acrobat and Reader, it had warned that it couldn’t access the file C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.  I did try running the Acrobat Cleaner Tool as you recommended, twice, restarting each time but still no luck.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Problems Installing Acrobat Pro 9.0 after Hard Drive Crashed

I am having to reinstall my Creative Suite CS 5.0 on my MacBook Pro after the replacement SSD crached and I had to reinstall the suite back onto my orginal hard drive. Everything in the Creative Suite installs with no problem except Acrobat Pro 9.0 and Distiller. After it is copied, I open it and after a few seconds I am presenting with the following message...
"Suite Product Activation Needed - Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite (such as Adobe Photoshop)."
I have tried opening Photoshop first and then opening Acrobat, but I get the same message.
I am at a lose as to what to do.
    Thanks for any help.

    Matthew,
As you stated the CS5 version has a separate disk for Acrobat 9 and a separate serial number for Acrobat 9.  Unfortunately the error message you are seeing is usually seen when launching Acrobat shipped with either CS4 or CS5.5 as the activation of the product is tied to first launching another suite product.  Try removing the Inprogress key from the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Inprogress.
Of course only do this after backing up your registry.

  • Problem installing Acrobat 9: "more functional product is already installed"

When trying to install Acrobat 9, a message says that a more functional product is already installed.
I believed this issue was due to the Adobe Acrobat 11 PDF creation utility which was installed with FrameMaker 12. I therefore deinstalled FrameMaker 12, because I believed that the Adobe Acrobat 11 PDF creation utility would be removed as well. However, the issue persists.
Currently, only Adobe Reader XI, FrameMaker 10, and the ExtendScript Toolkit are installed.
I'd be grateful for any help how to solve this.

    Problem solved!
After I ran the Acrobat Cleaner tool, the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI was now displayed in the Control Panel > Programs and Features list. (No idea why it wasn't available there in the first place.) So in the end I could remove this utility and install Acrobat 9 without issues.
Thanks again to Bill who put me on the right path. :-)

  • Problems installing Acrobat 9I

I am having trouble installing Acrobat 9, I originally installed it as part of the Creative Suite 4 (Design Premium), acrobat installed okay as part of the suite, but I couldn't create pdf's from word or safari.
I uninstalled acrobat 9, the rest of the suite remains and works perfectly, now when I try to reinstall acrobat 9 my mac sits at the installation screen!  Do I need to uninstall the complete suite?
My MBP is only a week old and has very little else on it yet!
    Any help will be appreciated.

I have the same problem. I recently upgraded from CS2 (Premium) to CS4 (Standard) and, although I needed help from Adobe Tech Support, I installed the suite successfully. However, Acrobat Pro 9 did not update like the other applications so I called in for more help. That was a bust and, as a matter of fact, after removing some components from the Acrobat.app folder as directed, Acrobat wouldn't even open any more. Consequently, I trashed it and started over.
Unfortunately, now I have the same problem the first user has. Installations proceeds normally until the "Preparing to Install..." screen at which it just stops. It doesn't freeze up or anything, it just dies.
Sure hope somebody can offer a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Bill

  • Problem installing Acrobat Reader on Mac with Mavericks (with error)

I tried ALL the ways to install Acrobat Reader on my Macbook with Mavericks, nothing worked!
It says "Error 301" or something like that and I already tried to download the enterprise version, the offline version, to change the login settings of my macbook. Nothing works...
All started when, at a certain point, I don't know why, it stopped working opening pdf files, saying "error, the file could be damaged or you need an updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader", so I uninstalled the app and tried to install again. It was when I realized that the mission was harder than  I thought!
Please, if anybody with the same problem solved it yet, please please share it with me!
    Thank you!

I'm sorry, part of it is in portuguese!
How can I post here the install.log file?
    Thank you so much!
PS: Apparently the error now is different, with no number ..

  • Problems installing Acrobat 8 Prof using transforms file

Need assistance with installing Acrobat 8 Prof. I used Adobe Customization Wizard 8 to create the transform file needed to configure Acorbat 8 Pro for enterprise deployment using SMS 2003. One computer was still waiting for the contents so it was decided that this computer will have Acrobat 8 Pro installed manually instead. When a staff member remoted into workstation and attempted to install Acrobat 8 Pro, he ran into some problems.
When staff member attempted to install Acrobat 8 Pro, he would get several registry key errors stating that it was not able to access those keys, permission denied. After close inspection, it looks like Acrobat 7 Pro was installed previously but was not removed entirely. The Acrobat 7 folder was still present with a few .dll files still in there. Attempted to delete the folder but error messages stating that the file was still in use, permission denied. Attempted to unregister the .dll files with no luck and staff member made himself the owner of the folders to be able to delete them and was successful.
Attempted to install Acrobat 8 Pro again using the following command line:
    msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=acropro.mst /qb.
Installation went okay and after reboot and first attempt to start Acrobat 8 for the first time, it went through the wizard to enter the serial number. The serial number was entered in the transforms file as well as other configuration settings. After closer look, it looks like none of the configuration settings took like shortcuts were still present and username and company name were not entered into product. Staff member attempted to reinstall again with no luck.
Is there a way to compeltely remove Acrobat 8 Pro so that when it is installed again, it would be a like a new install? Delete files, registry keys and so forth? The user of the computer has other Adobe products like Photoshop 7.0 and InDesign.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Problem installing Acrobat 9 standard

    Hi,
I am trying to install Acrobat 9 Standard. I am getting the error message: "Acrobat has detected another process which has not yet completed. You need to restart the system in order to complete this process". Unfortunatly, after many restarts, It still odes the same thing. I have tried reinstalling windows installer, uninstalling everything adobe related, Except "Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin" which shows up in add/remove programs, but with no change or remove button. Is there something in the regisrty that AA is looking at that tells it there is another install process that hasn't finished yet? Or is there some other way to get around this?
    Thanks

  • Problem installing acrobat reader

I have attempted on several occasions to install acrobat reader to an HP Elitebook running Windows 7 Professional.  Each time I get the same error message:
    Any ideas?

This often happens if some other installation (e.g. Windows Update) is already running.
Restart Windows, then run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Problems installing acrobat pro on windows 7

i am on windows 7 and after i download and install acrobat pro, it gives me an error message when I launch which says: adobe acrobat has stopped working. I've downloaded and reinstalled three times and can't seem to get it to work.

    Hi terrylynnf53982955,
Could you please let me know if you have installed Acrobat as a stand-alone applications or as a part of Creative Suite.
Are you using the subscription or purchased license?

  • Problem installing Acrobat Reader Pro in Mavericks

Acrobet keeps crashing and I get "configuration error 16." I have deinstalled and reinstalled, but still doesn't work. I'm working on a new MacBook Air 11" with Mavericks and this is a first installatoin. I had no problem on my old MacBook Air 13" also with Mavericks.

Thank you for the reply. I'm afraid I was unclear - it's a problem with Acrobat XI Pro, not Acobat Reader. My mistake. The link you provided was just for Reader. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

  • Problem installing acrobat 9

When I try and install acrobat 9 I get an error message that says,
"The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug ins may have been disabled). Please go to the adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch. Or, you can uninstall and reinstall the applicaton, and then reinstall the patch."
I have never disabled any plug ins. I've been trying to install acrobat 9 for about a year and I get this error message every time. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

  • Problems installing Acrobat 9 Standard

Im upgrading form Acrobat 7. As part of the process the installer says it will uninstall version 7
Very should after it starts I get a message that says " the older version of adobe acrobat 9 cannot be removed Going into "add and remove software" it is not there.
I see others having a similar issue regarding acrobat reader and the posts are filled with lots of time consuming technical steps to try
Has anyone found the answer to this or has Adobe come up with a fix?

Does anyone now how to initiate a product return for a product that hasnt been registered yet?
Weve spent too much time on this Adobe issue. Our systems guy, who we have to pay by the hour, says it will take too long to try to fix this problem, hours
We cant justify spending this kind of time on what is an adobe installation issue. We want to return the Acrobat 9 upgrade and stay on Acrobat 7 for eternity
Unfortunately the adobe reseller we bought the upgrade from only allows returns within 30 days
Of course since it hasnt been successfully installed it isnt registered yet. Acrobat 7 is registered however.
Does anyone now how to initiate a product return for a product that hasnt been registered yet?

  • Problems installing Acrobat 9 Pro as part of CS5 Web Premium

My boss uninstalled CS4 Web Premium, but Acrobat 9 did not uninstall, even though he selected uninstall 'all components'. He tried a couple of times and was eventually able to uninstall it. He then installed CS5, but Acrobat 9 would not install. We have two activation codes for CS5 and neither worked when entered for the Acrobat 9 activation. Any idea why? Thanks.

Thank you for your response. I just found out our agency has purchased Acrobat 9 licenses and will be deploying them site-wide to those who need it, so the problem may be solved.

    Hi KingCollins4,
Please disable anti-virus or firewall programs from your computer.
Could you please share the snapshot of the error message that pops up so that I can analyze where the problem exactly is.
    Hope to get your response.
