Problem installing Acrobat 9 standard

Hi,
I am trying to install Acrobat 9 Standard. I am getting the error message: "Acrobat has detected another process which has not yet completed. You need to restart the system in order to complete this process". Unfortunatly, after many restarts, It still odes the same thing. I have tried reinstalling windows installer, uninstalling everything adobe related, Except "Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin" which shows up in add/remove programs, but with no change or remove button. Is there something in the regisrty that AA is looking at that tells it there is another install process that hasn't finished yet? Or is there some other way to get around this?
Thanks

  • Problems installing Acrobat 9 Standard

Im upgrading form Acrobat 7. As part of the process the installer says it will uninstall version 7
Very should after it starts I get a message that says " the older version of adobe acrobat 9 cannot be removed Going into "add and remove software" it is not there.
I see others having a similar issue regarding acrobat reader and the posts are filled with lots of time consuming technical steps to try
Has anyone found the answer to this or has Adobe come up with a fix?

Does anyone now how to initiate a product return for a product that hasnt been registered yet?
Weve spent too much time on this Adobe issue. Our systems guy, who we have to pay by the hour, says it will take too long to try to fix this problem, hours
We cant justify spending this kind of time on what is an adobe installation issue. We want to return the Acrobat 9 upgrade and stay on Acrobat 7 for eternity
Unfortunately the adobe reseller we bought the upgrade from only allows returns within 30 days
Of course since it hasnt been successfully installed it isnt registered yet. Acrobat 7 is registered however.
Does anyone now how to initiate a product return for a product that hasnt been registered yet?

  • Using SMS to install Acrobat 7 Standard and 7.0.5 - 7.0.8 patches

I am having problems with a package I created to install Acrobat 7 Standard and all it's updates. I this package I have created many programs. The first four programs are used to uninstall the previous version - 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.3 and 6.0.4. I used the command lines I got from the PDF document: "Install and remove Acrobat products using the command line (6.x on Windows)". All four programs went through successfully.
The next program in this package is the one that installs Acrobat 7 Standard. I used InstallShield Tuner 7.0 to customize the Acrobat settings when installed. I used the command line for this program that was listed the PDF: "User Document: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for Microsoft Systems Management Server". This program installed without a problem.
The problem comes when the next program attempts to start. This is the program that installs the 7.0.5 update patch for Acrobat 7.0.0. At this point, this is where the package bombs. I have used the command lines provided in the PDF document: "Install and remove Acrobat products using the command line (7.0 on Windows)". I extracted the files from the .exe file of the patch and copied them to the source directory with all the other installation files for Acrobat 7 Standard.
Not sure what to do at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me into the right direction!

    Glenn,
I do not use any of the Acrobat instructions on deleting previous versions. I wrote a inf file from within MS Installer that removes all the Registry settings that the original installation of Acrobat 5 and 6 create. I also remove any files that remain on the PC. One reboot is needed and then a manual removal of the one or two files that stay in the ActiveX directory and the main Acrobat directory (used by windows until a reboot is performed). I then was successful in creating a package that delivers Acrobat 7 Pro with the updates to 7.05 and 7.08 by chaining them from within the setup ini file. I am now trying the same thing with Acrobat 7 standard but am having several separate issues.
Good luck because I hope one day Adobe/Acrobat are replaced with another OEM that listens to it customers and will not have as big of Chat room as they have with so many open issues and continuous problems with ever release.

  • After Installing Acrobat X Standard, Cannot print from another Windows Program

I am having a strange problem.  Once I installed Acrobat X Standard, another Windows based program stopped printing.  It now comes up with a usp10.dll error, but most of the time it just crashes the program.  Tried reinstalling the program and no luck.  The error points at a Helvetica Font being the culprit that was installed with Acrobat.  I am not sure how to clear this up.
    Thanks

I have not removed it.  One of the things I did try was going into the Registry and to FontSubstitutions and change the Helv to Helv,186 or something like that.

Nothing in the Acrobat 8.x product family is compatible with Windows 7 (or any contemporary OS).
The Acrobat 8.x product family passed into End of Support way back -- (November 2011).
The current release of Acrobat (XI) is compatible in Windows 7.
    Be well...

  • Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text.  I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard.  What is the remedy for this.  If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • Problems installing Acrobat X as part of CS6 upgrade

After upgrading to CS6 from CS5, my Acrobat Pro 9 stopped working - it would say that there is an error and shut down, each time I tried to open it.  I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Acrobat 9 and the CS6 upgrade.  Latest reinstallation of the CS6, installed everything except Acrobat X, which comes with the package...
    Any ideas?

Still not working.  I continue to get the error message that “Certain elements of or these products are not able to be installed” (translated from French).  In the following error log, it says (amongst other things) :
ERROR: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Erreur irrécupérable lors de l’installation.
MSI Error message: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.
ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
When I was uninstalling previous versions of Acrobat and Reader, it had warned that it couldn’t access the file C:\Config.Msi\3a1e5a.rbf.  I did try running the Acrobat Cleaner Tool as you recommended, twice, restarting each time but still no luck.
    Any other suggestions?

I have done this in the past to re-install this software and it worked fine.

Std is available at Adobe Acrobat X (10) Pro, Reader, and Suite Direct Download Links | ProDesignTools the last time I checked. This time make a backup of your download on a CD or backup HD. Do not depend on the program always being available for download. This is the case for any software you purchase online.

You can download the trial version of the software from the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.
