Problem Installing Cisco Secure 4.2

Contiunally getting this message:-
odbc operation failed with the following information:Message=[sybase][odbc driver][adaptive server anywhere]Invalid user ID or password, sqlstate=28000,native error=-103
This is a fresh install, but it just will not go through.
Any pointers.

I am experiencing the identical problem.
examining the ODBC setting on the box there does not appear to be anything there.
however the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager software is installed on the box, and I have a suspicion that this can feature an 'embedded database'
Can anyone from Cisco speak to whether there have been issues reported with SEPM and ACS server co-existing on same box?

Please understand that Window Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Server is not same as Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Server. I had faced the same problem earlier. The R2 version is supported only CSM 4.1 onwards.

Install Cisco Security Manager 4.7 on Hyper-V

Hello,
Our customer want to install Cisco Security Manager on a Virtual Machine virtualized with Hyper-V. Documentation only mentions install the software on a Virtual Machine on Vmware systems.
Can we install without problems, and the installation will be supported on TAC if we need open a support case?

While it should work (since CSM is basically an application running on a Windows server), it is not a system that meets the requirements of the Installation Guide.
So... if the TAC found an issue related to that setup when you needed their help, they'd be within their rights to say your installation is unsupported.

Hi Joel,
The following packages are need to compile the 5.2 agent.
*GCC*
*kernel-snmp-devel*
*compat-libstdc++*
Also 5.2 error messages are alot less friendly than 5.1's

Problem with Cisco Secure Access Server 3.0

Please what is my problem? I use Cisco Secure Access Server Version 3.0 for Windows 2000/NT Servers to authenticate users on our wireless network. I however wish to assign monthly time limits to each user after which he/she will no longer have access until next month or the timer is reset. I tried this with the "User Usage Quota" under User setup. I set the Server to "Limit user to X hours of online time per Month" and enabled the "Use these settings" and also checked the box by the side of the option. I saved and restarted my server. Unfortunetly the settings did not work for all the users whose quotas I set.
What Am I doing wrong. Please assist.

Do you have your AP's sending accounting data? If not, ACS has no way of knowing how long they've been online?
You can utilize your ACS logging to see what your accounting looks like to confirm whether you are receiving accounting packets or not?

Installing Cisco Security Manager

I would like to uninstall and reinstall my Cisco Security Manager 3.0 since 3.1 has been taken off the market for the time being.
Is there a step by step process that I would have to take to install this with standard install, Service packs and patches?
In a nutshell, I would like to do a complete reinstall and be fully operational when completed.

Problem installing Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

When attempting to install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, I get the following message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

do you have the xml assigned in the group policy on the ASA? I know the scripting behavior changed between anyconnect 2.5 and 3.1. AnyConnect 2.5 only required the xml profile locally but 3.1 requires the xml with EnableScripting = true to be assigned to the group policy.

Install cisco security manager

I adquire a CSM license and need install, only have one server and this is installed LMS 3.2.
Follow the installation instructions, i found that this CSM can't be installed in the same server that LMS.
This is the paragraph:
"We do not support the coexistence of Security Manager with any third-party software or other Cisco software (including any CiscoWorks-branded âsolutionâ or âbundle,â such as the LAN Management Solution [LMS] or the VPN/Security Management Solution [VMS]), unless we state explicitly otherwise in this guide or at http://www.cisco.com/go/csmanager
Someone can tell me if this is definitive or can install both in the same server.

Yes both cannot be installed on the same server. Even if you manage it by some 'fancy' trick, it won't be supported by Cisco TAC. If you have only one physical server available, consider VMWARE. Regards

Problems installing Windows Security Update

Is anyone else having problems getting the new 'critical'
security update from Microsoft to install? I have downloaded the
update from Microsoft's website manually by going:

When I go to install the update I get the error: 'The version
of Macromedia Flash you have installed does not match the update
you are trying to install.'
Here are the steps I have already taken:
Completely removed flash player using the uninstall utility
found on Macromedia's website.[/li]
Reinstalled the latest version (which appears to be
8.0.24.0)[/li]
I went into the c:/windows/system32/macromed/flash/ folder and
ran the UpdateFlash.exe application to ensure that I had all the
latest updates. This .exe tells me that there is an update
available, it acts like it is downloading it and installs it. When
finished it says that the new version will install when I reboot. I
reboot, run the UpdateFlash.exe app again, and the same update is
available again and again.[/li]
I am still unable to install the latest security update after
running the UpdateFlash.exe app which supposedly gives me the
latest version of flash.

I've tryed to repair permissions at least 3x, and also run update_prebindings

Doublecheck your prerequisites as Vinod suggested. LMS is very particular about you meeting ALL the prerequisites exactly. If some are missing it will notify you during installation. Others may not generate an error but will leave you with a non-working setup.
When you machine starts, it takes as long as 15-20 minutes for LMS to be fully functional. There are many background processes started by the daemon manager. There is a shortcut to see if all are finished starting by watching for the "ready" folder (NMSROOT\objects\dmgt\ready is the default location) to be empty. As CiscoWorks LMS starts up, that folder will at various times have lock files put into it as the processes start.
The pdshow command enumerates the status all of the background processes.
Yes, NMSROOT is the parent folder for your installation. The default location for NSMROOT in Windows is under C:\Program Files\CSCOpx. You can confirm on your installation by checking your environment variables under Windows Server.

FlexConfigs in Cisco Security Manager 3.2.1 SP1

Hi,
I have a problem with Cisco Security Manager 3.2.1 SP1 (fresh intall).
When I create a FlexConfig with any IP AUDIT commands or VPDN (for PPPoE config) every time I deploy the configurations in file the flexconfig is repeated in the configuration. The behavior is the same on PIX and ASA configuration.
If I deploy 20 times my devices than I'll have 20 times the same line in the configuration !
Any way to solve that problem in CSM??
The server is Win 2003 Standard English and there's absolutely nothing else than CSM installed on it...so??

Can you please be more specific what exactly you did! Flex config doens't remove generated command it's adding the no crypto ca enroll 'trustpoint name' after the generated crypto ca enroll 'trustpoint name'
I've been also looking for related bugs but didn't find any!

Cisco Security Agent unable to close tcp/135 port on Windows hosts

Hello
I've encountered with problem that Cisco Security Agent unable to close port TCP/135 on windows PC (XP or Win7).
I've configured rule module Network Access Control to prevent all client/server connections to port tcp/135.
I've checked my policy using nmap, so this port (TCP/135) during 20 minutes shows as filtered and i can see log in monitor event on CSA MC, during next 20 minutes it show as opened and no log shows. (time not exact, so it maybe 30 minutes or 5,it varies)
Can anyone explain how TCP/135 works and is it possible to close it using CSA?

"I went ahead and tested this in the lab with winXP and CSA 602-149 (latest). I defined a rule with DENY tcp/135 and ran the nmap and it reports opened (wireshark shows syn-ack to the syn). I changed it to a PRIORITY DENY and now the nmap reports closed (wireshark shows reset to the syn). Via the cli, netstat -an shows the pc listening on tcp/135 & disabling CSA the syn gets the syn-ack response. To me this implies a couple of defect. 1: The DENY should block syn to tcp135 & 2: CSA should not send reset (it should be reset). Is it possible to open a TAC case and put my name (mwinnett) in it and I will open a defect."

Cisco Security Manager (CSM) License Problem

Hi All,
We have CSM V3.2 with Professional license edition and support 50 devices. It's installed properly in the Cisco Security Manager client as appeared in the attachement but the problem is in the server administration- license management which doesn't include any records for license (see attachment).
I tried to upload the .lic file by clicking the Update button in server administration but an error message appeared stated that the license file is corrupted although it's installed properly in CSM client!!!
Could you please advise what's the problem and what should I do?

Sorry but Cisco seems to have removed that product bulletin from cisco.com.
Your reseller can use Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) to order the correct part number for your CSM installation. There is a unique number for each licensing level and/or upgrade.
For instance, for a 10-device standard license, the support would be part number CON-SAS-CSMST10K.
For the 100-device Pro license, the support would be CON-SAS-CSMPR4K9.
The reseller needs to adjust the support term (12-60 months) to suit when ordering.

Each of the two security updates for Yosemite required a restart once the update had been installed. Did you in fact perform these restarts?
If you are in doubt, go to About This Mac (under the Apple logo in the Menu Bar). Then choose System Report > Software Installations [requires scrolling way down on the leftmost column] > [look for security updates to be logged there]

Cisco Secure ACS 4.0 Solution engine problem

Hi,
I have a probleme with a Cisco Secure ACS 4.0 Solution Engine (CSACSE-1113-K9).
I try to power up the engine, but the light in the power button stay blinking all the time. Anyone have a idea why ?
Last week, I boot it for the first time (It's brand new), every things goes fine.
I made " shutdown " then wait the message to press 4 seconds power button to turn it off. This morning, nothing come up.
I see one thing in the console "Press <SpaceBar> to update BIOS." after that, blank. No bios detection, no harddrive dectection, no windows boot.
Any idea ?
