Problem installing Crystal Reports 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server

Sheesh.  One of my users needs crystal reports and still uses it weekly.  It's time to update off of an old 2003 server so I setup a new Windows 2012 R2 server so that she and others can RDP into it and use the application and reports (it's a payroll thing so they want limited access).
So - totally plain vanilla Windows 2012 R2 install.  Then make sure I have all the .net stuff installed in the windows features.
But, whenever I run the setup.exe from the downloaded ZIP file from the sap store I get:
(1) "Assertion failure: A fatal error has occured which has caused the installer to quit.  Please gather any %TEMP% and installer logs to present to your support personnel."
(2) Then followed by the message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -- Runtime Error!  Programs: C:\install\CrystalReports\setup.engine\SetupEngine.exe  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
(3) Then:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: SetupEngine.exe
  Application Version: 60.0.0.62
  Application Timestamp: 543416b3
  Fault Module Name: SetupEngine.exe

I can't find any information on this!  I have found a similar message that refers to a 2011 install that was fixed with a SP9?  But this machine has no current install.  I did buy the full version two days ago online from the sap store.

There is an older C++ library that you need that is not available by default on Win 2012.  You can get the install for this here:
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Do…
Also, be sure you're logged in with Administrator rights, the right-click and "Run as Administrator" when you run setup.  You might also have to turn off the Windows Firewall when you run the install (you can turn it back on again after the install is complete.)

  • Probleming Installing Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 1 to Vista 64bit OS

    Hi There,
    Whenever I attempt to install SP1 to Crystal Reports 2008 I am unable to get past the disk space check.  It just continues to display the message below.
    "please wait while the installer finishes determining your disk space".
    I found this to be an issue on the 64bit OS only because I can install to Vista 32bit no problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    Try with this:
    Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
    Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn
    Now try to install Crystal reports.

    Hi,
    From your description, I know you get error when you install SharePoint 2013 in Windows Server 2012 R2.
    If you have tried all method above. In your case, you have installed the Web Server(IIS), but the
    Web Server (IIS) role installation may fail. You could try run commande: aspnet_regii -enable –i.

    Make sure you have the SharePoint 2013 with Service Pack 1 ISO. Pre-SP1 will not install to SP 2013, and you cannot slipstream it yourself.

  • Problems installing Crystal Reports 2008 Server on Windows Server 2008 serv

    I attempted to install the Crystal Reports 2008 product on one of our Windows Server 2008 servers.
    After installing disk 1
    Crystal Reports 2008 Server attempts to open up in IE...... but opens up to a blank page

    anyone have any idea why? why does it not prompt for the second CD?
    Is this a compatibility with Windows Server 2008?

    I'm attempting to install CRS 2008 on Windows Server 2008 as well, and I'm running into a few issues.  Did you ever get yours resolved?  I started by trying to use IIS, but I'm uninstalling it completely now and will try Tomcat instead.  Which route did you go?

  • Dynamics CRM 2015 Install requires Active Directory on VM Windows 2012 R2 Server

    Hello,
    I'm trying to install Dynamics CRM 2015 on a standalone VM not connected to a domain (it's running under WIndows 8.1 Professional). The VM was configured using WIndows Server 2012 R2. I'm getting an error message shortly into the install process stating
    it needs to access Active Directory.
    How can I get around this issue - I just want to Install this CRM on the VM without getting into complicate network/AD issues.
    Can you please advise ?
    SO many thanks,
    John

    CRM requires AD no way around that so the most likely solution is to install it on that server or on a VM not connected to your other networks

  • Redistributable components of crystal report 11 and Crystal Report 2013

    Currently we are facing a peculiar problem where we are having a report with 5 tables and connected using the default crystal report db connectivity.
    The report was created in a very old version of crystal report 8.5 and we have been migrating the same to latest versions.
    When i execute the report from my Application using crystal report 11 run-time components installed it works perfectly (5 Secs). In this we were using the viewer ole control embedded in our application.
    But when the same report is opened up from the application using the crystal report 2013 run-time components there is performance lag of 15 Secs every time using the viewer as separate control using C# .net framework 4.0.
    Also Installing crystal report 11 run-time and then installing crystal report 2013 run-time resolves the issue.
    Can someone let me know if we are missing something.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satish VS

    Hi Bhushan
    Thanks for your prompt reply
    - The old application was it a .NET or COM SDK app?
    Old application uses the COM SDK App ( CrystalRuntime.Application) developed in VB & consumed the same as an Ole object in Power builder.
    - What version of VS are you using? (Earlier and now).
    Earlier With Crystal report 11 we were directly deploying the viewer as ole control in our Powerbuilder application
    Now we are using VS2010 with .net framework 4.0 as separate viewer control
    - Is this a windows or a web application?
    Its an windows application
    - Provide the version no of CR 11 you used earlier?
    Old Application uses crystal report 11.0.0.1282
    - There are no runtimes for crystal report 2013, so could you please provide the version no for the crystal report 2013 runtimes you are using? You could check the file version of crystaldesicions.crystalreport.engine assembly.
    Yes we are using crystaldecision run-time  and the version is 13.0.2000.0 & Runtime version - v2.0.50727
    - As runtimes, did you use MSM, MSi or ClickOnce CR runtimes do deploy your application?
    We were using this CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi as a pre-requisite before deploying our application.
    -Also, if you could elaborate on how did you upgrade / migrate the application and deployed it, would be helpful.
    In my old application we would be using the default crystal report 11 merge module to be deployed alongwith our application msi.
    To upgrade they would install the CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi  and then deploy our application msi.
    Please let me know if you need any further information.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Unable to install Crystal Report 8.5

    Hi all,
    I really need some help as I have problem installing Crystal Report 8.5 on another hard disk as my previous hard disk crashed.
    I have tried the calling tech support hotline @ 800-4922129 but they said they are not able to find my company's name in their database.
    It might be due to the merging of SAP + Crystal Report and this crystal report is installed way back in Year 2001.
    The technical support personel said there is nothing she's able to help me if I do not have the customer no and the only way is for me to post @ the forum at this website.
    My company is currently based in Singapore.
    The only information I have is the CD Keycode,Product Keycode and Crystal Decisions Registration Number.
    I have 5 license Key which was bought way back in Year 2001.
    The problem arises during the installation after I entered the "CD Keycode" and they prompt me to enter the "License Key" which I do not have it.
    Would really appreciate your fast response from you guys as I really hope to settle this issue asap.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Crystal Reports 2013 SP3 crashing

    Hello,
    We installed Crystal Reports 2013 SP3 to all developers and they have been noticing that Crystal is crashing.
    It basically crashes on different scenarios and Crystal freezes and shows the error Crystal Stopped Working.
    I have gathered different scenarios like:
    1. Report was open, doing nothing when getting error crystal stopped working.
    2. Report was open, re-titled a column, saved the file click on refresh button to re-run query with same parameters and got the same error
    3. Open the report set parameters for the past month to run it and get error not responding.
    We have re-installed Crystal on different computers and the same issue persist, even in Citrix we have noticed this as well.
    Has anybody seen this behavior and found any solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hello,
    I got new logs, but shows exactly the same as before. The same error lines
    But It failed few minutes ago, around 3.10pm and as you see the log the error show at 1.45, so I'm not sure if it's related to database issue.
    I'm checking the database logs and show the same error message coming from multiple desktops (which we believe are all the crystal developers, but this probably means that they sometimes use wrong password for that in their report...)
    This is what happened this time:
    Crystal 2013 SP3
    This time it failed when developer was trying to update a command object, it stopped working
    Crystal 2013 SP5
    In 1 day it stopped working twice (when you have to close crystal completely), and stopped responding multiple times (screen grays our and shows the stop responding)
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Getting an error trying to install Crystal Reports 2008 on a 64 bit Windows

    reformatted my computer and now I'm trying to install Crystal Reports 2008 on 64 bit windows 7 box.  When the "Registering modules" portion of the install comes up, I get a message that a dll has failed to register.  I saw something about not having the Microsoft Visual c++ 2005 redistributable pack (x86) installed but that was not it either.
    The cd label say Crystal Reports to Crystal Reports 2008 Upgrade, but it does not seem like I have to have the older version of Crystal insatlled.
    Any ideas how to fix this ?

    Hello together,
    i've had the same problem. Tried to install CR SP 2 "cr2008win_sp2.exe" onto an existing CR 2008 SP1 installation, and got the above error. After extracting the cr2008win_sp2.exe to an folder using Winzip (or just start Installation, the source would be extracted to "c:\temp" ), navigate to the subfolder "\package" and execute the CrystalReports.msp (in my case: c:\temp\package\CrystalReports.msp). This start's the Installation of SP 2. If you get an version mismatch, use parameter SKIP_PATCH_VERSION_CHECK=1 by typing command in an dos prompt "c:\temp\package\CrystalReports.msp SKIP_PATCH_VERSION_CHECK=1" but remember, you need to have an SP1 installed (somebody said, SP's are incremental).
    Reboot and apply then the  CR 2008 SP2 FixPack 7 "cr2008fp27.exe". Use this Link to Download CR and Xcelsius Stuff:
    [https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]
    I would suggest you not to use IE for downloading, use an alternative browser. I got only bad downloads (IE8 on Win7).
    This is the way i did and this works pretty good.
    Good Luck

  • License problem when trying to install Crystal reports XI on Win 7

    I'm trying to install Crystal Reports XI on a machine with Win 7, the installation in successful on older machines with Win XP.
    I'm trying to upgrade the programs we use at work, but this install fails.
    The installer doesn't accept my old license/registration/activation codes.
    How do I solve that?
    Do we need to buy new licences for our development?
    Is there anyone I should mail about it?

    Hello,
    One problem is XI is not supported on Windows 7. Multiple configuration problems with DEP. You may have to turn it off completely. Search forums on DEP and you'll find lots of postings on how to.
    It's possible the the keycode.dll can not be register. Try copying it to our install folder if it's not there already and then use regsvr32.exe "path to dll.keycode.dll" and then try again.
    If that doesn't work you have a few options, use Process Monitor to see what's missing or upgrade to CR XI R2 ( 11.5 ) for free. Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
    Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    SP 6 does support Windows 7. Only issue is exporting to MAPI ( Outlook 2007 e-mail ) and it's bee tracked and the fix should be out sometime this year.
    Other common issues is possibly the 1.1 and 2.0 .NET framework is not there or needs to be updated.
    YOU also MUST be a local PC Administrator and have full rights to install programs, browse to the setup.exe and right click on it and then select Run as Administrator, that may fix the issue also.
    Thank you
    Don

  • After installing Crystal Reports XI on Windows 2003 server with one error..

    After installing Crystal Reports XI on Windows 2003 server with one error... REGSVR sapldap.dll error.  I had to regsvr it manually.  Crystal still didn't run.  Found out that Crystal Reports XI will not run until you change DEP to protect only windows program and services.  Thanks.

    Thank you for sharing your finding. Very much appreciated.
    The DEP is a known issue and it is documented in [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
    Crystal Reports XI was not compiled with the nx flag as it released before Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1.
    As for the sapldap.dll. I'm not sure where this is coming from. I do not see this dll on my install, however it does come with the SAP portal integration kit. So I'm not sure if that is flying around somewhere on that server(?)

  • Crystal Report 2013 memory problem

    Hi,
    I am developing a Windows service. The service calls Crystal Report to generate PDFs. When a new contract appears in database (MS Access), the service reads contract number and build a formular. Then pass the formular to ReportDocument. The code looks like this
    using (ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument()) {
      report.Load("contract.rpt");
      // some initialize report
      foreach (var contract in contracts) {
        report.RecordSelectionFormula = BuildFormular(contract);
        report.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, BuildOutputFilename(contract));
      report.Close();
    It works fine. When deploy on production, I want the location of Access file can be changed programmatically. So I modified the code
    using (ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument()) {
      report.Load("contract.rpt");
      // some initialize report
      foreach (ReportDocument subreport in report.Subreports) {
         foreach (Table table in subreport.Database.Tables) {
           table.Location = MdbPath;
      foreach (Table table in report.Database.Tables) {
        table.Location = MdbPath;
      foreach (var contract in contracts) {
        report.RecordSelectionFormula = BuildFormular(contract);
        report.VerifyDatabase();
        report.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, BuildOutputFilename(contract));
      report.Close();
    It works but memory increases over time. Here are Private Bytes (I use Performance Monitor tool)
    10:45 - 58.000MB
    11:00 - 61.801MB
    11:15 - 64.611MB
    11:30 - 65.544MB
    11:45 - 65.716MB
    12:30 - 69.095MB
    I also attached some screenshot of report of DebugDiag tool.
    My environment:
    Net framework 4.5
    Tool runs as Windows Service
    Crystal Report 2013 (Crystal Report Runtime 32bit 13.0.10.1385).
    Database: MS Access/OleDb
    Any suggestion?

    Hi Ludek,
    I wrote 3 tests. You can get detail here:

    Here are summary:
    Tests are a Windows Form apps with one main form which has one button. If we click on the button, it call Crystal Report to generate 100 pdf. The Access database is simple - one table which has 10 records.
    Test case 1 - Saved data report.
    I clicked 7 times (700 pdf created). Memory increase from 40.177 MB to 43.347 MB
    Test case 2 - No saved data report
    I clicked 10 times (1000 pdf created). Memory increase from 41.123MB to 42.835MB
    Test case 3 - No saved data report and change location
    I clicked 10 times (1000 pdf created). Memory increase from 52.412 to 54.063MB
    Because I am developing a Windows Service and it runs 24/7, I expected that memory should not increase over time. My service runs 2 or 3 days and Crystal Report throws exception "Not enough memory for operation"
