Problem installing CS2

I have a purchased version of CS2.
I have followed the instructions to download the product again and used the license key given so that activation is not need.
I have extracted the files to the appropriate hard drive folders.
BUT the installation procedure does not allow for discs 2 and 3 to be obtained from the hard drive.
How do I solve this please?

You should be running the installer that you downloaded with the new non-activated version, rather than using the installer from the original disks.
Also, are you installing the product on a new computer or on the computer you originally had CS2 installed on or what exactly are you doing?

  • Problems installing CS2 in Win7 :(

    Hello everybody,
I have recently reformatted my computer (Win7) and I tried to reinstall cs2 from a the DVDs and had some problems.  I got a couple of notifications:
    Invalid Unicode File
    .\AutoPlay\main.ini
    Error
    MAIN_FILE_VERSION
    Error
    PRODUCT_REGISTRY_PARENT
    Error
    PRODUCT_REGISTRY_KEY
I copied the 4 installation disks onto my comp and now the setup.exe starts but when I click install cs2, nothing happens
I am currently working my way through this troubleshooting guide http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400992.html but nothing has worked yet so i figured i'd see what the forum could tell me.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance everybody!!

Unicode errors would indicate that you are using an unusual and incompatible system language but based on your rather vague info nobody can know any of that.

  • Problems installing CS2 - hangs at common files

I am installing CS2 on a new computer running Windows7 and it goes fine until it gets to the common files where it hangs up. I had to close it and the software loads but Bridge doesn't work - and I'm sure there are other problems. Could this be a faulty disk? Can I download the software from Adobe or get a new disk?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Same problem. At second attempt got a message that ipad memory was over capacity.  I had 6GB free on the ipad2 when I started to upgrade and it was now telling me i needed more!  After deleting all my photos (4GB which had been loaded from camera and the only way I could find to do this was one at a time!) the upgrade apparently succeeded but in itunes it said I now had 8GB of "Others" in the memory and only 1 GB free.
Lookign in "Diagnostics & Usage data" I can see 3 scripts coinciding with the upgrade attempts all of which start with "Sysinfocrashreporterkey" 2 with "bug-type 193" a couple of lines down, and one with "bug-type 109"
    Questions:
What are the 8GB of "Others" and how do i get rid of it?
How can I bulk-delete photos transferred from camera?
What do the bug-types refer to and do they indicate a solution?

  • Problems installing CS2 after uninstall

I am having a problem with CS2 after an uninstall. I recently got an error working with In-Design and it had me fix the problem of course I had to do a full uninstall and reinstall.
When I get to the auto install problem it will open than immediately close doing nothing. I have even tried to make a copy of the disc to the hard drive and install that way and it will get to the password part than stop to work.
I have also followed the manual removal instructions to remove all adobe programs.
Also tried the moving disc 1 and 2 to the hard drive mount them and run the install.
Nothing I have read so far works. Help please!

No to both I'm afraid. CS2 can't be used on a Mac running Yosemite. The only version of the Creative Suite that qualifies for an upgrade is CS5. Your options are to buy CS6 or subscribe to the Creative Cloud.

  • Problem installing CS2 on Windows 7

I downloaded and attempted to install CS2 from the Adobe website and have been unsuccessful in getting past the "install disc 2" message.
I spoke with a rep via chat and they referred me here.
I have followed the directions that were included with the download as well as what the rep gave and am still unable to get past the install disc 2 message. When I click ok it just pops up again.
Can someone please help me to correctly install this program????
Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Problems installing CS2

    Hi,
Our company found few unused licences of CS2, webmasters department received it.
But, on some machines we have problems with install. We can't install software on systems with Windows Vista Buisness, and Windows 8, on Windows 7, and Windows XP, everything works fine.
On both problematic systems, user got notification that setup was interrupted before completion of the installation of Adobe Photoshop CS2 (it's in polish but I translated it).
Anyone have some ideas how to solve that problem?

Are you trying to install from disk?   You can no longer use those versions, and have to download a special version with new serial number

  • Problem Installing CS2 product over CS3 Web Edition

Hi, I recently bought the CS3 Web Edition and installed it, then uninstalled CS2 Standard edition to make room on my computer... now I realize I don't have InDesign loaded and am trying to reinstall that. However, the Adobe setup isn't cooperating at all. I get stuck on providing the Adobe Photoshop 5.0 or later cd. I install PhotoShop 6.0 into my CD drive and it won't accept it. I try pointing it to the CS3 version of Photoshop and it won't accept that either. I only want to install inDesign to the computer. Is there a way around this?

This issue was resolved by calling customer support... they were able to manually over-ride the problem and provided a key code to proceed with the installation. Also, it is possible to just install inDesign, without having to re-install all the components I no longer need.

  • Problem installing CS2 Premium (please help)

I bought a copy of CS2 a couple of years ago ("free" support has now expired).  I installed it on my desktop and laptop (both running XP).  Worked fine.
Last year, I upgraded the laptop and wanted to de-register (or whatever the Adobe term is for deleting that machine from their database) and install it on the new database.  The de-registration appeared to work, but the installation on the new machine didn't.  All of the Adobe software (not the Macromedia stuff) would start and stop, due to the inappropriate registration.  I called customer service, and was informed that my "free" support had expired, but that someone "might be able to help" for $50/hour.  I declined and have just used the software on the desktop.
Last weekend, the desktop machine died and I replaced it.  Now, as far as I can tell, I have no way of de-registering either installation (the funky version on the old laptop or the one on the dead desktop), and no way to keep using a software package that cost me a couple of thousand dollars.
    Really frustrating.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Background Information
Refer to the following URLs to understand the Adobe's software activation and licensing.
    "Adobe software activation" at

On the first URL, Adobe describes " Please call Adobe Customer Care for assistance." in the Section "I don't have access to the computer on which I originally activated Adobe software. Can I still deactivate the Adobe software and use it on a new computer?"
But you cannot find "Adobe Customer Care" contacts information by searching "Adobe+Customer+Care" in Adobe's sites, and it's rearly useless description.
If you cannot activate or deactivate your applications via the Internat, you can activate your applications by phone.

  • Problems Installing CS2 via Photoshop 6....

Hi,  yup I know these are old versions, but Ive had an hardware failure and need help !!  Not having the best of days...
My PC has crashed, requiring me to reintsall VISTA and photoshop.
My last full version of Photoshop was 6, I installed that, everything OK
I then installed my CS2 upgrade, which installed OK.  However when  I went to activate I got a "Activation Server Unavailable" error.
A little research led to me to a page, tht stated that du to a "technical issue" the activation sever had been shut down and I should download a different version tht didnt require an activation.  Before the install I should remove the old CS2 software.
I removed the CS2 software and the Photoshop 6 software  (was this correct ?) and installed the new CS2 download.
The install completed but then the software aske for my serial code, which I entered only to be told that the serial code was not recognised.
Help !!!  Im not having the best of days !
Does the new software recognise tat my serial code was for a an upgrade and therefore Photoshop6 needs to be reinstalled (AGAIN !).
    cheers
    Tony

Forget about Photoshop 6. It's not required.
Go back to the link where you downloaded the new non-activation version of CS2.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads
That is the version which must now be downloaded and installed (no Photoshop 6 required) since it's specially coded not to require activation.
You must enter the new serial number published by Adobe on the same page (last column on the right) from which you downloaded the new version of CS2. Your existing serial number will no longer work.

  • Problem installing CS2 from download.

I was attempting to re-install Adobe CS1 but could not get it to re-activate.  I called Adobe support and was directed to download the CS2 suite from their site.  I downloaded it and attempted to install.  The filenames are a little different than those referenced in the installation instructions but everything went perfect until it ask me to insert CD #2.  The extraction process extracted the program files to different folders on my c: drive so there are no actual CD's.  I don't understand why the install routine cannot find or be directed to the next set of extracted files.  This has gotten very frustrating.  Can someone please help me?  I downloaded the following:
    CS2_install_Win.pdf  -- installation instructions
    CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe
    CreativeSuiteCS2Disk2.exe
    CreativeSuiteCS2Disk3.exe
    CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe
    VCS2.zip
    thanks for your help,

Before I start copying files............when I extracted the files the process created the following folder structure:
    C:\Creative Suite
              |_
                  Adobe Creative Suite 2.0
                                 |_

  • Problems installing Photoshop CS2 on iMac

I have my brand new iMac 20" Intel Core Duo, and I have recently purchased Photoshop CS2 and I can not get it to install. I saw in some places about the SU 2006-003 patch, but I have not installed that. I also saw about VC2 in the startup items, but that is not on my hard drive.
The problem that I am having is that it gets so far into the Running Installer Script and then everything just freezes. I'm not sure what could be wrong.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Todd

    Hi all,
I have had some luck with CS2 and my iMac Intel. But this is only after i spent a week of trouble shooting. A WEEK, on a brand new computer?... this to me is laughable. I am a die-hard Mac user but i have to say i am thouroughly disappointed in my new iMac. After 6 great years on my reliable G4 550Mhz 768RAM i upgraded to an iMac Intel and I just don't see the stability that i used to have with my G4.
Anyway, on the iMac, I did ALL the updates (including the security update and QT 7.1) and was running os x 10.4.6 and when i tried to install CS2, when i got to the second disc, installation froze, computer froze and i had to force a shutdown with the power button. When restarting, the iMac booted to the desktop, but nothing else loaded (no dock, no finder bar at the top, and no desktop icons; mouse didn't function as well) Called AppleCare and ended up having to trash my preferences and trash all that was installed by CS2. Well, that got my iMac working again but was nervous about trying to install CS2 again. Reading somewhere on these boards i came across a thread that mentioned installing Stuffit Expander, saying that some files on the installation discs needed decompression and since stuffit didn't come with OS X 10.4.6 i went ahead and downloaded the free stuffit expander. Heck at that point, i was ready to try anything. After installing stuffit, i tried installing CS2 again and this time the installation did work but seemed to freeze at the end. No message saying installation was succesful, just froze after CS2 finished installing from disc 4. I force restarted with the power button again, but this time the desktop, icons, mouse and dock were working as normal. I was able to run illustrator, photoshop, indesign, golive, bridge and acrobat pro simultaneously, but i wasn't doing any "real" graphics work. I do notice a lag when switching between apps. For example when i switch from illustrator to photoshop, it takes a few seconds for all the tool bars and palettes to load. I should also mention i have 1 gig of RAM. Read somewhere it's better to have 2 gigs, but come on... 2 gigs of RAM just to have functioning software? (another disappointing work around) Not sure if stuffit helped, or just a coincidence. I'm no expert so I'm wondering if anyone else tried that and had success like i did.
I am sorry about this rant, but you figure if you pay so much for a computer, that it should work correctly and that it was tested realistically for bugs. Not with a supercomputer with infinate RAM. I know i bought an apple, but this computer is running like a lemon and to be honest, i'm nervous about installing any updates or additional applications. Being a freelance designer, i don't have the option of pushing back deadlines... and the troubleshooting and time on-hold that i have to waste is crippling my workflow and losing clients for me. Wondering if i would be able to exchange my iMac for a G5 PowerMac with no restocking fees. I have no problem paying the difference in price between the machines but refuse to pay restocking fee for a machine that simply does not cut it.
Well, hope everyone else has luck and let me and the discussions boards know if the stuffit thing is a fix, workaround, or just coincidence and i got lucky installing CS2
    good luck to all
