Problem installing drivers, no admin rights on admin user...

The iMac 27" recently bought with Snow Leopard was installed with one user, with admin access. Now when trying to install the 10.6 drivers for our digital press it claims that the user needs administrator access. I have no idea how to remedy this. The same drivers was installed on another new iMac with the same setup, and worked flawlessly. He also has problems with other software solutions regarding rights.
Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I do not wish to do a clean install on it as the user spent a couple days setting the machine up for production...

I'm still having a little trouble understanding the situation. Are you saying the driver software is delivered as a .pkg file & opens Apple's Installer.app when you double-click it? If so, do you see the familiar Introduction or 'welcome to the installer' window with the "Continue" button, & then at a later step the error message about needing admin access, or do you immediately see the error message?
Or does the software include its own installer app? (IOW, on double-clicking the file do you see "Installer" next to the Apple menu item in the menu bar or something else?)
If the Apple installer is used, running a permissions repair on the iMac's startup drive may help. Also, you might check with the supplier of the software for any updates or known problems with Snow Leopard and/or download the package again if that is an option.

I've created an MSI object for the Flash 9 plugin, which installs okay

  • Problem installing drivers for on-board Realtek sound

    Using Neo2
I keep getting the following error when Windows XP tries to install the driver:
    "Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
    Realtek AC'97 Audio
An error occurred during the installation of this device
    The data is invalid"
I've tried all the usual stuff of ensuring that the software is installed prior to the PnP wizard. I've even tried installing the NT4 (non-PnP) drivers (which installed ok and appeared to work, except that the sound device wasn't recognised).
I've tried the latest patch to no avail. Is my H/W knackered?
    Any input gratefully received.

  • Problem installing drivers on my HP Photosmart Premium C310a

For some reason, out of the blue my printer stopped printing from the computer.  After going through the HP Troubleshooting and being told to download updated drivers, I have downloaded and tried to install drivers for my wireless C310a printer but keep getting told that the installation failed because it can't locate the C:\Users\Jeanelle\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS655A\Setup\hpqbhp01.exe
I don't think I can use the solution provided using the cd since it is a wireless printer and never used the cd to initially set up and install the printer in the first place. I appreciate your assistance in addressing this problem.

    Hello luvridinghorses!
I will do my best to help you to get your printer printing again. Based on the information you have provided, the error indicates the installation is looking for a folder in your "temp" files which is where downloads go. I think you may have success using the software disc that came with the printer if you still have it.  Give it a try and if that doesn't help you, what is the operating system of the computer you are trying to install this printer on and what is the printer's IP address?
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • W7 x64 - Problems installing drivers Nokia

Hello!I have the PC with the longtime-established Windows 7 x64, phone Nokia 6120c (USB, RM-243, V 07.10) and driver for the connection of all this.
Until recently all worked fine, and then every time you connect your phone PC started shaking driver on the phone from Center Update Windows (and so every time !!!). I did not bother me.
Today my PC is not seen phone.
Connecting - loading the driver for your Nokia 6120 classic USB Phone Parent, then the following message:
"Windows will detect the drivers for this device, but when you try to install these drivers the error occurred.
Could not load the device driver. Perhaps the driver is corrupted or missing. (Code 39) "
Driver downloaded from the center of updating Windows, and from Nokia site, and from disk ... Even rebooted the PC several times. System Restore does not help.
    What?
P.S. Perhaps this is due to the disconnection of electricity yesterday ... The phone was connected to a PC.

  • Problems installing drivers for my nomad jukebox 1

i have a nomad jukebox 0gb and im having trouble getting it set up on my computer. im running win xp pro, and my jukebox is running firmware version 2.96. i dont have a cd, so i downloaded and installed the drivers, but my computer still does not recognize the jukebox and treats it as new hardware every time i plug it in.
strangely, when i plug it into my clamshell running os 9.2, the jukebox is recognized in itunes. i used itunes to put an mp3 on it (even though it was just a converted aim sound file).
i have formatted the jukebox, but am still facing the same problems, and am not sure what else i can do. thanks.Message Edited by monstour on 06-24-2005 0:32 AM

i have tried the jukebox on multiple computers, including other desktops and laptops with xp pro, and it has worked.
something else i noticed is when i try to install the drivers, the installer is skipping the regsvr32.exe file in the windows folder.

  • Won't start up from 10.5 DVD after Leopard install to add Admin user

I have just installed Leopard (10.5) on my G4. Now, I cannot upgrade to 10.5.1 or make any changes because I am now just an ordinary user without any Administrator privileges. I try to start up from the 10.5 DVD but it asks for Administrator password (of which there is none). I am totally locked out of my own machine because of this Leopard (cool name--useless software, very upset about it). What now?

    Chris:
I just had the same issue on my son's MacBook. As long as you have a wired keyboard, the following will work.
    1. Shut down the computer if it is on.
    2. Press the power button to start the computer.
    3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) key and the "s" key for single-user mode.
    4. Type mount -uw / (then press the Return Key) wait for next line to appear with # root/
(there is a space between t and - and another space between w and /)
    5. Then Type "passwd" (without quotation marks then press the Return Key)
    6. Enter new password (this will be for the root user account) (watch your fingers when you type because it doesn't show what you are typing, then hit the Return Key after you type it.
It will prompt you to retype the new password again, so retype it again and then hit the Return Key) wait for next line to appear...
    7. Then Type "reboot" (without the quotes and hit the Return Key)
after the computer restarts and comes up with the login window....
    8. Login with any of your usernames just to get the desktop up.
    9. After desktop comes up choose System Preferences, then choose accounts. Unlock if you have to and using the username: root ..... and the password you just setup in the single user mode You now should be able to make users including your existing user account an admin.
After you log back in under your real account, it is advisable to deactivate the root user account. To do this,
    1. Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
    2. From the Go menu, choose Utilities.
    3. Open Directory Utility.
    4. Click the lock in the Directory Utility window if you need to unlock the utility.
    5. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
    6. Choose Disable Root User from the Edit menu.
    Hope this helps.
    David

  • Problems Installing drivers/Softw

    Hi,
I have a Muvo V00 2gb. Recently I had to re-install my operating system and realized I do not have the cd for the player. I went to the downloads and installed Creative mediasource 5. Then I installed the firmware for the player itself following the instructions. The problem is my computer reads the player as a flash dri've and doesn't recognize it as a muvo v00. When I exit mediasource I get a send error report message as if it had crashed. I have tried re installing everything 3 times while wiping out everything with add-remove programs in between. I also noticed that the lyrics editor doesn't come with the download version and was wondering where I could get that too.
I am running windows xp sp2 (in the process of obtaining sp3)
    Thanks,
    Aiden
Edit: I have read the FAQ sections but the link for missing cd dons't seem to work for me.

You need to get the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product).

  • Has anyone else had problems installing drivers for the Canon MF4570dn?

I recently purchased a Canon MF4570dn multifunction printer, to be installed on my network at home. It works very nicely with my wife's Windows 7 box.
On the other hand, I cannot install the driver software on either of my Macs (iMac i7 running 10.6.8 or G4 running 10.4.11). The installer fails when it gets to the point of running its internal scripts, and provides a proposed "solution" of "Call the software provider."
Canon technical support is unable to help. I have reset printers in the system preferences, I have downloaded the installer package multiple times from their web site, I have repaired permissions, all to no effect. Their final suggestion is "Call Apple Technical Support and have them perform a 'profile reset'." (I've never heard of such a thing, in 27.5 years of owning Macintoshes. Has anyone else????)
So my question is this: If you have one of these on your system, did you have any issues getting the drivers installed? If so, how did you overcome them?
    Thanks,
    Rich Alderson

  • Problems installing drivers for my pretty old soundcard. (Thread detailed).

Hello, my friends audio card for some reason stopped to work, so I gave him my old card. Unfortunately, I have lost my CD.
(And yes, I have read the sticky thread Sound Blaster FAQ).
    Here is what I did:
Wrote all information that might get useful from card to PC, result:
    Creative Audio
    EMU0k-NEF
    Tech 97
    oo0E3020
    CT4830
    32GPC05D98A
The bolded like "CT4830" seem to be the only useful word I managed to get from my card.
Then it was searching, a lot of googling, a lot of sites trying to offer their perfect "driver scanner", if I searched for etc EMU0k, scamming and virus sites would automatic manage to track the exact component I was looking for. While creative.com wasn't even top 50.
Back to point: I went on creative.com, I personally think it is a very messy site, I click on support, download, and I see a list of products, I choose Sound Blaster, and I get a few models to pick from.
Now here I was stuck for a long time, I could not find my model there, it was only those new "awesome" models, so I had to find a little, almost impossible noticeable link at the bottow "cant find your model, click here" something like that. With small letters. NOT VERY USERFRIENDLY!
And then I get to a list, I know, I have model CT4830, and I know "Audigy" is written on the card. But I could not find it in any of the audigy categories, some categories was missing images, so this was also a very tricky part.
Then I found a list which could help me get the full name of my audio card, and I managed to catch up that CT4830 for some reason has the full name "Sound Blaster Li've! Value/Player Compaq /Intel/IBM/NEc"
And this helped me a little (I think), since I had to look in the Li've category, even though it also was Audigy, it was not stated in the full name of the card.
Now I found the most similar thing in "li've" category, called "Sound Blaster li've! Value". Nothing about compaq, intel IBM or nec or anything like that, just Sound blaster li've! Value.
I downloaded the driver, released in 2003, I had an option to go for 2005 64bit XP driver, or 2003 driver (no OS mentioned in describtion), I assume the driver was for 32bit, since there was already another newer stated driver for 64bit.
I managed to install this driver, it runs fine, no error messages occurs in the installation.
It asks me to reboot, and I reboot, and on next startup, still nothing happens.
So after all this research, what have I done wrong? Wrong driver? Which is the correct driver? Where can I download it's
I am sorry for my frustrating behavior on this post, sorry, I just don't know what to do

O You can find some of the original installation CDs in ISO form on Badboy's FileFront site. I believe this one is for your SB Li've value card as well as for some Audigy cards. These are for WinXP and older OSs.

  • HP Pavilion DV6545EG, Ricoh 5-in-1 card reader - problem installing hardware!

    Hello,
For a few days now I've been trying to install the hardware specified in the title with no success, therefore I am asking for some help in trying to solve this issue.
Before I start describing the situation, there is some info about the notebook I'm posting from:
My notebook is currently running on Windows 7 64-bit
     s/n:[Personal Information Removed]
    p/n: GP631EA#ABD
I've tried installing some driver packages but none of them helped.
After windows installation finished, and a few times after, the device was marked as not installed in device manager (windows could not find proper drivers to install). When I plugged the sd card in it would say it wasn't formatted, I tried formatting it and recieved an error saying "unable to format", upon checking the device manager I could notice the device was not installed properly. After finding and installing some driver packages (source: hp support site) the message in device manager disappeared, but the device still didn't work, Now even if I uninstalled all drivers the hardware does not appear at all in the device manager. A few times I've experienced serious crashes when trying to install the drivers.
I've tried installing drivers as admin, in compatibility mode, using windows update yet nothing helped.
I've done the steps mentioned above a few times trying different approaches - nothing worked.
I can honestly say that I am at my wits end concerning this issue, and in much need of help! It would be appreciated!

    Hi,
The following link is its driver from HP:
