  • Problems installing forms 10g (9.0.4.0.1) on windows XP

    Hi,
i i'm trying to install Oracle developer suite 10g_r1 (is the one we are using in other computers) on a clean windows Xp image (no previous installations of Oracle, or Developer)
but after checking the system specifications and before asking where to install anything, this error message appears:
    Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Fatal exception ocurred. Program will exit.
I can't see anywhere why is this happening, Maybe the Java version is newer than the one used by the installation programs?

Verify the following before starting the installer:
    1. Is there enough disk space on the local drive? I recommend at least 1gig free space before attempting to install.
    2. Delete all contents in the system tmp (usually found here %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp). Some files may be locked and will not delete. You can ignore these.
    3. Ensure that ORACLE_HOME is not set (System Variables).
    4. Ensure that you are installing from the local machine. Installing from a mapped or shared drive will causes unpredictable results.
This is probably a good time to consider upgrading. Version 9.x is no longer supported. The latest supported versions are 10.1.2 and 11.1.1.2

  • Installing Forms 6i Unbound variable error

I am having a problem installing Forms 6i on an NT box(4.0 service pack 4). It has Personal Oracle 8i installed but I don't think that is connected to the problem.
Anyway, the install stops part way through with the message "rsf73.vrf(281) Unbound variable 'deinstl'". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, is there any real difference between personal oracle 81 and Enterprise 8i? Things look awfully similar after the install of both.

    Dear Don,
In this forum you should met many similar problems. But I suggest you to edit your config.sys file and add this :
    SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /P /E:255
It will add length of your environment path to 255. PATH_TOO_LONG_PROMPT means that your environment couldn't hold Developer's Path anymore (Default environment for Win'98 is 64).
    Hope this Help.

  • Problem installing Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 (Forms & Reports 6i)

    Hi all,
I am unable to install Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 - specifically Forms & Reports 6i, Designer, Discoverer (ALL Products on Quick Install option on Windows 98 system). The installation proceeds to Install screen when the various files start to load ... Then the whole process stops after showing 100% load (sometimes the screen freezes, sometimes I get error message - illegal instruction etc) when the following file is being loaded :
    Extracting ... ewt_swingaccessbridge.jar
    I have another question :
I have Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.7) installed on D:\Oracle\Ora81 already.
During the install process (before I get the above error message) the 8.1.7 RSF-based product install location screen presents itself with the option to create a new Oracle Home and location (The preferred Oracle Home name iDSData and preferred Oracle Home Location D:\ORACLE\iDSData are already entered in the boxes) or Select an existing ORACLE_HOME. My existing ORACLE_HOME is
D:\Oracle\Ora81. What am I supposed to do at this point ? The installation guide is not explicit. Any help with these topics will be greatly appreciated.
I will be greatly obliged to anyone who can assist me with installing Forms & Reports 6i. Many thanks in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Partha Sur

Had the same problem too. It won't install in the same directory as your database. You need to create a new directory on your hard drive and have it installed there. Worked for me.

  • Problem in Installing Forms 6i on Pentium 4 Machine

    Dear All,
I tried to install forms 6i on my Pentium 4 machine but I was not
successful. Later I come to know that for doing this I need a patch
to be installed. i searched the whole oracle and intel site but I
could not get it. If any one else have come with similair problem and
get the patch then please tell me the site address and path from
where I can download the patch.
    Thanks
    Sunil Kumar(OCP-DBA)

Are you talking about a Forms patch or the JInitiator patch ? Do a search for JInitiator and P4 and find your way to www.sun.com for the JRE patch you need for P4's. Or get Forms 9i.

  • Problem in Installing Forms 6i in Oracle 8

    Hi there
I am a home user and at the moment studying for OCP Oracle Forms Developer Rel. 6/6i and I really need some good help.
I have some problem in the Installing the Orcale Forms 6i, I have already installed WinNT4 (Server) and Oracle 8.
SO far I have tried to Install Forms 6i four times but I failed. Due to this reason every time I had to also Uninstall the Oracle 8
from my system, because it started to give problems.
OK THIS IS THE PROBLEM :
When I installed Oracle 8, the user name was <system> and the password was <manager> in the SQL Plus. I used it for few times and worked fine. But when I installed the Oracle Developer 6i the SQL Plus didn't accepted the same user name and the password. I tried many commands that I could find in the Oracle documentations (On the CD) but so far nothing.
Need some command or any thing to over write the system so I can change the user name and password.
Plus when I use turn on my computer and run WINNT 4 (server) I get message that I have some problem in Oracle80.exe file and due to that my system hangs for couple of minutes.
I also want the sample tables, but I don't know the particular command for SQL *PL by which I can get the sample tables.
Please help me by suggesting what shall I do.
    Regards

    Hi...
    Source: Oracle support.........:-)
    Installation Procedure
Follow this procedure to install Developer 6.0 and Oracle 8i on the same physical machine in separate ORACLE_HOMEs on NT:
    1) Install Developer 6.0 using the instructions on the Developer CD.
Specify an appropriate drive and the ORANT directory as the destination. For example:
    D:\ORANT
Note: You must install Developer in the Oracle home named DEFAULT_HOME.
    2) Install RDBMS 8.1.5 from the Oracle 8i CD. Specify the following information when prompted for the Oracle Home and Full path:
    Oracle Home ora8i
    Full Path d:\orant\ora8i
    Choose Typical Install
Global Database Name ora8i.us.oracle.com (This is an example)
SID ORA8I (This is an example)
As the product installs, a summary is displayed that shows the products that are installed and the space requirements.
When the installation is complete, the following information is displayed and the installer exits:
Oracle Database Configuration Assistant Alert Database Creation Completed.
    Database Information
    Global Database Name ora8i.us.oracle.com
    SID ORA8I
    Sys password change_on_install
    System passwd manager
    3) A TNSNAMES entry needs to be created in the tnsnames.ora file for the new Oracle 8i installation. You can find the file in:
    d:\orant\net80\admin\tnsnames.ora
A default entry will look like this:
    alias.world
    (DESCRIPTION
    (ADDRESS_LIST
    (ADDRESS
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = )
    (Port = )
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = )
For example, if you installed on a machine with a HOSTNAME of TEST, a SID named ORA8I, on TCP/IP with port 1521, and an alias of NEW, you would create the following entry:
    NEW.world
    (DESCRIPTION
    (ADDRESS_LIST
    (ADDRESS
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = TEST)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORA8I)
    4) If you manually created the entry, save and close the tnsnames.ora file.
You can now connect to the local database instance of 8i using the DBSTRING as NEW. For example, you can connect as scott/tiger@NEW.

    Please advise me.

    Hello,
I've been using Dev 2000 ver 6i for several months sucessfully on Win 2K RC2. The compiled .fmx's work fine with the ver 6.0 runtime environment under NT 4.0.
The only problem is that the Forms Server won't work till the 1st patch set comes out
(only Oracle knows when!) , so you can't test or deploy the forms as web apps on Win 2K yet. OAS 4.0 appears to work ok on Win 2K.
I have been using the Beta version of Dev 6i and will upgrade to the release version eventually, probably when the patch comes out.

  • Problem while install forms 11g

    dear sirs
when i install forms and report 11g it give me error about jvm, and i try to install java se to solve the problem, but problem still
pls tell me how to solve or how to install this jvm, known that i use operating system windows 7 64bit

The problem is that you are trying to install a version of Forms 11g which needs a 64 bits JVM and you have a 32 bits JVM.
So you should install a 64 bits JDK and a 64 bits Weblogic (because the weblogic that comes with jdeveloper is a 32 bits weblogic).
Then you will be able to install the Forms you are trying to install, also look at this link to set the JAVA_HOME if you are installing on windows:
    https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF25/Set+JAVA_HOME+variable+in+Windows

  • Problem with installing Forms 11g on clients

    Hi all,
I have successfuly installed weblogic server and Oracle Forms 11g on a server and everything works fine. I need to install Forms 11g on different clients for developers. My question is that do i need to install Weblogic on every single client or i can use the one that i have installed on my server. If i can use the one that i have installed, please explain how i can do this because i have tried a lot and the installer does not go to next page after asking for email address.
    Thanks in forward,

p.s. The clients are Win Xp

    Two recommendations:
    1. Read this:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2007/03/02
    2. If you are new to the product and/or product version, you should probably read the documentation before starting to install. Here is the url to the installation guide. This is a good starting place.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/install.1111/e10421/toc.htm
The installation guide explains what is needed and how to install.

    2) Attmpted to install Forms 6 first in c:\orant. Then installed 8.1.6 client in c:\oracle\ora81. Hi,
we are trying to install Forms 11g 64 bit with WebLogic 64bit on windows Server 2008 64bit and followed the short checklist of Jan Carlin :
    - installed JDK 64bit

Somewhere I've read that the reason might be that the installation uses 32bit JDK, but I don't know if I did something wrong.
Somewhere else I've read that the reason could be the Path setting, which may include some directories with emphasis in the name which might be a problem for Weblogic.
Any idea or help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    FYI,
This is related to Oracle-Bug 9370799 which hopefulls get sorted out sometimes. Having "(" or ")" somewhere in the PATH is not working. The workaround til the Bug is solved as of support is :
    =================================
    1) Remove the directory with "(" ")" from the System Path at install time only (this is what you have already performed)
    2) Roll back the change so the System Path contains again the directory path with parenthesis
    3) Copy in the clipboard the current PATH value and edit the <Middleware Home>\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd file and look for the following line:
    if "%WL_USE_X86DLL%" == "true" set PATH=%PATCH_PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32;%WL_HOME%\server\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32\oci920_8
    4) Before this line define PATH to value you have in the clipboard without the reference to the directory with "(" and ")"
    5) Save the commEnv.cmd and you should be able to start up your domain having the directory containing the "(" and ")" in the System Path

  • How to install forms and reports 6i

I am facing a problem while installing Forms 6i. The following are the details.
I successfully installed Oracle 9i first under F:\oracle\ora90. While installing Forms 6i, I selected the "Typical" and gave the path as "F:\oracle\ora90" and clicked on the Next Button. Immediately I got an error message as "The location specified, 'F:\oracle\ora90' is already used as an Oracle home for 'Oracle 82 Beta'. It cannot be used as an Oracle home for 'nt'".
Could any one give the information of how to install forms and reports 6i. It ll be of great help to me.

    use F:\oracle\ora90 as your oracle-db-home
    use F:\oracle\forms6 as your forms-home
    try it

  • Role Based Access problem in forms

This would be a long reading.
I'm having a problem with forms Role Based Access.
We have two databases, one in London and one in Zurich. We have installed
application server and oracle forms on London database. We have implemented
Role Based Access to forms. For this we have created a database role (say ZUR_USER)
in both databases. The view FRM50_ENABLED_ROLES which is used by forms role based access control
is also created in both databases with a 'grant select to public'.
Our form system has a menu and forms under that menu. Both menu and the underlying forms have been
assigned Menu Security/Item Roles to the above mentioned ZUR_USER role and the role is assigned
    to various users.
Now a Zurich user is trying to login to Zurich database using the URL for forms installation
in London server. He can login successfully and can see the menu heading in the main screen but
when he clicks the menu he doesn't see the underlying forms list.
When we try the same user id and database from London (using the same URL) we see all the forms.
Any idea what are we missing. The Menu Security is setup at menu level as well as the form level under
that menu. User can see the menu but not the form under that menu from Zurich. No such problem while
    login from London.

    I'm using the Forms 10g
and yes the only difference is between login from Zurich and London.
Problem definitely is due to Role Based Access setup.
The user in Zurich can see the Menu but not the items under that menu.
I have set the security set up at both menu and menu item(i.e. form name) level.
