I am not sure but I think the problem is with the allocated shared memory size, which right now is:
<b>init.ora</b>
shared_pool_size = 67108864
<b>init<SID>.ora</b>
shared_pool_size = 90112000
shared_pool_reserved_size = 9011200
If this is the cause of the problem then how much should i increase it to? and do i need to modify the size in both files or only init<SID>.ora? Is there any SAP Note related to this problem? Thanks.
Regards,

Hi Vasu,
ORA-4031... for 99%  of cases this means one thing:
the database instance is not configured correctly.
To proceed, do the following:
1. get rid of init.ora (it's not used at all)
2. make sure that the init<sid>.ora file is really used.
       If there is a spfile in the %ORACLE_HOME&/database folder
       then this will be used.
3. With your  configured shared pool of 85MB your memory should really not be filled up - anyhow it's really too small for a SAP system!
Thus I'd check how much memory the other sga-area members (buffer cache, large pool, streams pool, java pool...) take up.
        Remember on Windows 32 Bit, everything runs in one single process that can only allocate 2GB (or 3GB if you've set this option).
See note:
<a href="https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=869006&_NLANG=E">#869006 - Composite SAP note: ORA-04031</a>
for more on this.
And when you're setting up parameters anyway, check note

• Problems installing Xi 3.1 sp3 with Oracle DB

Hi,
I'm trying to install BO Xi 3.1 sp3 (Windows server 2008) and I want to use Oracle (11g) for my CMS.
I saw the note n° 1351851, so I used the provided MySQL server to install and then run de CCM to change CMS source with my Oracle Database... but It doesn't work !!
I have a strang error message
"Cause loading shared object failed...failed because of error [%1 is not a valid Win32 application.]
Second tried to load library D:BOXi31....oci.dll failed because of error : the specified module could not be found"
Any help would be appreciated !
David

Hi Sarang,
Thank you for your answer. Indeed, the problem is about the Oracle Client installed on the Server.
It works fine to access the Oracle Db... but, I realised that this version of Oracle is a 64bit program... and BO Xi 3.1 sp3 is a 32bit version. I guess that the problem could be solve using a 32bit version of Oracle client.
I'm going to try this today. I'll let you know the result here.

Regards

Hi Gregor.  The text of the Oracle message ORA-01659 is as follows.  As you can see it recommends adding a data file first.
01659, 00000, "unable to allocate MINEXTENTS beyond %s in tablespace %s"
// *Cause:  Failed to find sufficient contiguous space to allocate MINEXTENTS
//          for the segment being created.
// *Action: Use ALTER TABLESPACE ADD DATAFILE to add additional space to the
//          tablespace or retry with smaller value for MINEXTENTS, NEXT or
//          PCTINCREASE
The syntax for adding a datafile would be
alter tablespace PSAPIDS add datafile '/your/path/psapids99.dbf' size 100m;

Here are some possible solutions:
1. The installation notes state that you must be logged on as Administrator to be able to install 9i. Are you logged on as the Administrator? Being logged on as user01 with Administrator priviledges isn't the same as Administrator.
2. Is the disk full? If I remember my installation correctly, I needed 3 times the size of the files. The documentation will tell you how much space you need.
Hope these two questions help

Make sure your laptop memory is min 16M bit but to good speed
increase to 48M or 64M.
ann make sure you HD size is good enough at least 2G
And I don't know what OS you are in and most this problem occurs
in W95 or W98.
Good luck.

• Problems installing  OEM Cloud control 12c in Oracle Linux 6.X

Hi
I'm triying to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud 12c in a Oracle Linux 6.4
Looking at the installation documentation in in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624/preinstall_req_packages.htm#CHDEJAFA it sys that I need the packages :
glibc-devel-2.5-49-i686 (This is a 32-bit package)
glibc-devel-2.5-49-x86_64 (This is a 64-bit package)
But I cant find them in the yum repositories.
If I query to my linux wihch version of glibc-devel are installed the output is
[root@emc tmp]# rpm -qa |grep glibc-devel
glibc-devel-2.12-1.107.el6.x86_64
And if i try to install it i receive an error compiling ins_sqlplus.mk due to ld because it can't find crt1.o
Can anybody help me?
thanks

What is the version of EM that you are trying to Install? Is it 12.1.0.1 EM ?
a) If this is em 12.1.0.1 then its a know issues to us which is fixed in next release ( you can refer bug:13833746 from MOS or open an SR to get more detail on this bug)
Run this below to make usre you have the packages.
# rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}(%{ARCH})\n" | grep glibc-dev
glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(i686)
glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(x86_64)
Checking the pre-requisites step fails as it is looking for i386 instead of i686. (On OEL6, prefix i686 denotes the 32 bit package - and not i386). If the 32 bit and 64 bit glibc-devel packages are present on the system ( check it manually) this Warning can be safely Ignored. Continue with the installation. If you are not sure, pls log an SR with Oracle support and they will help you. Donot ignore the warning in case of any doubts, work with support to get it solved. If you ignore the warning and packages are not on the host then you will get linking error during the install.
b) If this is em 12.1.0.2, pls log an SR and send me the SR number.

Hi,
Most of these integrations are prebuilt. Look for AIA/PIP.
If you check out the presentations from OOW there were session on how other customers have done this.

I am installing 8.1.7.0 with patch 4 onto windows 2000 , after i am installing reports 6i into the same machine.

ezaccess does use oracle for its backend.
appears that they both don't want to exist on the same machine.If i don't install 6i, the software is fine.

• Problems installing NI-Kal 1.9 with Opensuse 11.1

I am trying to install Labview 8.6.1, Daqmx Base 3.2, and Ni-Kal 1.9 on a laptop running Opensuse 11.1 to use with a usb device, NI-9233.  I understand that 11.1 is not supported and we have successfully used 10.3, Labview 8.5, and Nikal 1.7 on another laptop.  However, we want to use the latest OS so stay more up to date.   I have used our previous steps of install that I posted here in case it helps.
The problem seems to either be with building or loading the nipalk module.  I have successfully installed Labview, Ni-Kal, and mx Base and can successfully run updateNIDrivers but when I run lsdaq I get the following:
Detecting National Instruments DAQ Devices
Found the following DAQ Devices:
libnipalu.so failed to initialize
Perhaps you need to run updateNIDrivers
/usr/local/bin/lsdaq: line 7:  4825 Aborted                 /etc/natinst/nidaqmxbase/bin/daqmxbase_listdevices
When I run a vi using the usb device, Labview simply crashes.  Before the successful install I had problems installing Ni-Kal.  Opensuse 11.1 installs a pae kernel by default so I reinstalled Suse without it, passed mem=4096 to the boot loader and built the new kernel and modules with the commands:
make
make modules_install
make modules install
After these steps everything goes on without errors but I run into the problem I mentioned above.  Also, after this, no kernel modules are loaded.  I see no ni modules with lsmod.  I can manully load nikal but when I try to load nipalk I get:
     # modprobe nipalk
FATAL: Error inserting nipalk (/lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/kernel/natinst/nipal/nipalk.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
and niorbk gives:
      #modprobe niorbk
WARNING: Error inserting nipalk (/lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/kernel/natinst/nipal/nipalk.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error inserting niorbk (/lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/kernel/natinst/nicore/niorbk.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Has anyone seen this or know what the problem could be.  Thanks.

Jeff
Thank you for posting to the forums. I have noticed that there is a common thread about NI-KAL breaking on openSuse 11.1 on our Linux Users Community.  That community is kept up by a couple of our Linux guys and one of them who is on there regularly is one of the developers so that is a good place to go for Linux support. As you mentioned openSuse 11.1 is not supported at this point because I know there have been issues with the install of certain drivers. If you do manage to find a work around please let us know as I know there are a lot of Linux users that would be interested to know, myself included.
The specific post about NI-KAL breaking on openSuse can be found here.  Hope this helps.

• Problem whit Update Operation, Error UPDATE_ROW_CONFLICT with Oracle DB

Hello friends!, I have a problem whit UPDATE Operation with a Oracle DataBase, but it is rare because it works in "Java Sun Application Server" and not in Tomcat (5.5.12) , displaying the following error:
"Error :Number of conflicts while synchronizing: 1 SyncResolver.UPDATE_ROW_CONFLICT row 5 values changed in database"
part of the file log:
"SEVERE: Error Description
java.lang.RuntimeException: Number of conflicts while synchronizing: 1 SyncResolver.UPDATE_ROW_CONFLICT row 5 values changed in database
         at com.sun.data.provider.impl.CachedRowSetDataProvider.commitChanges(CachedRowSetDataProvider.java:878)
         at ido02004.EditPerson.saveButton_action(EditPerson.java:519)
For any change of columns for table in Data Base.
The code used in the page (EditPerson.jsp) is:
public void init() {
Object pid = getSessionBean1().getCurrentPersonId();
RowKey personRowKey = ido_personsDataProvider.findFirst("PERSON_ID", pid);
ido_personsDataProvider.setCursorRow(personRowKey);
public String saveButton_action() {
try {
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("USER_ID", userDD.getSelected());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("STATUS", statusDD.getSelected());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("NAME", name.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("FUNCTION", function.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("ADDRESS", address.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("EMAIL", email.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("PHONE", phone.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.setValue("VALUATION", valuation.getValue());
ido_personsDataProvider.commitChanges();
catch (Exception ex) {
log("Error Description", ex);
error("Error :"+ex.getMessage());
return null;
Please, Some idea of why gives the error? Help!
Thanks in advance!
Ren
P.D. Excuse my English.

Hi All!
New Info:
System.out.println(" date created : "+ido_personsDataProvider.getValue("DATE_CREATED"));
System.out.println(ido_personsDataProvider.getCachedRowSet().getMetaData().getColumnClassName(13));When these lines are printed in Java Sun Application Server for JSC show this:
[#|2006-05-05T17:12:50.264-0500|INFO|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.system.stream.out|_ThreadID=15;|
date created : 2006-04-24 00:00:00.0|#]
[#|2006-05-05T17:12:50.264-0500|INFO|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.system.stream.out|_ThreadID=15;|
java.sql.Timestamp|#]
When these lines are printed in Tomcat show this:
date created : 2006-04-24
java.sql.Timestamp
Why? the values of this date is different in one or another server. Problem of driver JDBC? I use driver: to ojdbc14.jar, in Tomcat for the connection to the BD Oracle. Maybe this originates error UPDATE_ROW_CONFLICT...
Please, any idea?
Thanks!

• Problems installing iAS6sp3 testdrive on w2k with iWS4.1

Hi,
I am on day 2 of installing iplanet 6 app server, I am not too
worried yet as I see it can take up to 3 days.
I have got around the DNS problem with the registry
(My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters)
and got it to put some files on the hard disk. However there appears to
be no services registered and no entries in the start menu after
installation and reboot.
I am running
W2K sp2
iWS 4.1 sp3
iAS 6 sp3 testdrive
Any ideas?
Thanks
Dave

backups?

and can cause troubles afterwards.
I would advise to do the installation from scratch and making sure the
directory has been completely removed before doing a new installation.
Please check the archive of this list for tips and instructions on how
to clean up broken installation and setting up your dns suffix before
installation.
Installation is very straightforward provided your network settings have
been carefully prepared and configured. Unfortunately, once you have a
failed installation, trying to recover from it and reinstalling is not
so straightforward.
